Jeremiah 7 Cross References - MLV

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying, 2 Stand in the gate of Jehovah's house and proclaim there this word and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, all you* of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship Jehovah.
3 Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Amend your* ways and your* practices and I will cause you* to dwell in this place. 4 Do not trust in lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, are these.
5 For if you* thoroughly amend your* ways and your* practices, if you* thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor, 6 if you* do not oppress the traveler, the fatherless and the widow and shed not innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your* own hurt, 7 then I will cause you* to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your* fathers from of old to everlasting.
8 Behold, you* trust in lying words, that cannot profit. 9 Will you* steal, murder and commit adultery and swear falsely and burn incense to Baal and walk after other gods that you* have not known, 10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name and say, We are delivered, that you* may do all these abominations?
11 Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your* eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Jehovah.
12 But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
13 And now, because you* have done all these works, says Jehovah. And I spoke to you*, rising up early and speaking, but you* heard not and I called you*, but you* answered not, 14 therefore I will do to the house, which is called by my name, in which you* trust and to the place which I gave to you* and to your* fathers, as I did to Shiloh.
15 And I will cast you* out of my sight, as I have cast out all your* brothers, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
16 Therefore pray you not for this people, nor lift up cry nor prayer for them. Neither make intercession to me, for I will not hear you.
17 Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The sons gather wood and the fathers kindle the fire and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
19 Do they provoke me to anger? says Jehovah and not themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?
20 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out upon this place, upon man and upon beast and upon the trees of the field and upon the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and will not be quenched.
21 Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Add your* burnt offerings to your* sacrifices and eat you* flesh. 22 For I spoke not to your* fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.
23 But this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice and I will be your* God and you* will be my people. And walk you* in all the way that I command you*, that it may be well with you*. 24 But they listened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in their own counsels, in the stubbornness of their evil heart and went backward and not forward.
25 Since the day that your* fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you* all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them. 26 Yet they listened not to me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff. They did worse than their fathers.
27 And you will speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You will also call to them, but they will not answer you.
28 And you will say to them, This is the nation that has not listened to the voice of Jehovah their God, nor received instruction. Truth has perished and is cut off from their mouth.
29 Cut off your hair, O Jerusalem and cast it away and take up a lamentation on the bare heights. For Jehovah has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30 For the sons of Judah have done what is evil in my sight, says Jehovah. They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
31 And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind.
32 Therefore, behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that it will no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter. For they will bury in Topheth, till there is no place to bury. 33 And the dead bodies of this people will be food for the birds of the heavens and for the beasts of the earth and none will frighten them away.
34 Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land will become a waste.

27 But if you* will not listen to me to sanctify the Sabbath day and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in the gates of it and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and it will not be quenched.

Jeremiah 18:7-8

7 At that instant I will speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it, 8 if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will relent of the evil that I thought to do to them.

Jeremiah 25:5

5 saying, Return now each one from his evil way and from the evil of your* practices and dwell in the land that Jehovah has given to you* and to your* fathers, from everlasting even to everlasting.

Isaiah 28:15

15 Because you* have said, We have made a covenant with death and we are at agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge will pass through it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge and we have hid ourselves under falsehood.

Isaiah 30:10

10 who say to the seers, Do not see and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things. Speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceits.

Jeremiah 4:10

10 Then I said, Ah, lord Jehovah! Surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, You* will have peace, but the sword reaches to the life.

Jeremiah 5:31

31 The prophets prophesy falsely and the priests bear rule by their means. And my people love to have it so. And what will you* do in the end of it?

Jeremiah 7:4

4 Do not trust in lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, are these.

Jeremiah 8:10

10 Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to those who will possess them. For everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

Jeremiah 14:13-14

13 Then I said, Ah, lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say to them, You* will not see the sword, nor will you* have famine, but I will give you* assured peace in this place.
14 Then Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you* a lying vision and divination and a thing of nothing and the deceit of their own heart.

Jeremiah 23:14-16

14 In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing. They commit adultery and walk in lies. And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none returns from his wickedness. They have all of them become to me as Sodom and the inhabitants of it as Gomorrah.
15 Therefore Jehovah of hosts says thus concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood and make them drink the water of gall. For from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone forth into all the land.
16 Jehovah of hosts says thus: Listen not to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you*. They teach you* vanity. They speak a vision of their own heart and not out of the mouth of Jehovah.

Jeremiah 23:26

26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?

Jeremiah 23:32

32 Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says Jehovah and tell them. And make my people go-astray by their lies and by their vain boasting. Yet I sent them not, nor commanded them, neither do they profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

Ezekiel 13:6-16

6 They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, Jehovah says, but Jehovah has not sent them. And they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed. 7 Have you* not seen a false vision and have you* not spoken a lying divination, in that you* say, Jehovah says, But I have not spoken?
8 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you* have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you*, says the lord Jehovah. 9 And my hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who divine lies. They will not be in the council of my people, nor will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel.
And you* will know that I am the lord Jehovah.
10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace and there is no peace and when a man builds up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar, 11 say to those who daub it with untempered mortar, that it will fall.
There will be an overflowing shower and you*, O great hailstones, will fall and a stormy wind will tear it. 12 Behold, when the wall has fallen, will it not be said to you*, Where is the daubing with which you* have daubed it?
13 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath and there will be an overflowing shower in my anger and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.
14 So I will break down the wall that you* have daubed with untempered mortar and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it will be uncovered. And it will fall and you* will be consumed in the midst of it.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.
15 Thus I will accomplish my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have daubed it with untempered mortar. And I will say to you*, The wall is no more, nor those who daubed it, 16 namely, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem and who see visions of peace for her and there is no peace, says the lord Jehovah.

Exodus 20:3

3 You will have no other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 32:17

17 They sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods that they did not know, to new gods that came up of late, which your* fathers did not dread.

Judges 5:8

8 They chose new gods, then war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

1 Kings 18:21

21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said, How long do you* go limping between the two sides? If Jehovah be God, follow him, but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Psalms 50:16-21

16 But to the wicked man God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes and that you have taken my covenant in your mouth, 17 since you hate instruction and cast my words behind you?
18 When you saw a thief, you consented with him and have been partaker with adulterers. 19 You give your mouth to evil and your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son.
21 These things you have done and I kept silence. You thought that I was altogether such a one as yourself. But I will reprove you and set them in order before your eyes.

Isaiah 59:1-8

1 Behold, Jehovah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. 2 But your* iniquities have separated between you* and your* God and your* sins have hid his face from you* so that he will not hear.
3 For your* hands are defiled with blood and your* fingers with iniquity. Your* lips have spoken lies. Your* tongue mutters wickedness. 4 No man sues in righteousness and no man pleads in truth. They trust in vanity and speak lies. They conceive mischief and bring forth wickedness. 5 They hatch adders' eggs and weave the spider's web. He who eats of their eggs dies and what is crushed breaks out into a viper. 6 Their webs will not become garments, nor will they cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of wickedness and the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil and they make haste to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of wickedness. Desolation and destruction are in their paths. 8 They do not know the way of peace and there is no justice in their goings. They have made them crooked paths. Whoever goes in it does not know peace.

Jeremiah 7:6

6 if you* do not oppress the traveler, the fatherless and the widow and shed not innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your* own hurt,

Jeremiah 9:2-9

2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. 3 And they bend their tongue–their bow–for falsehood and they have grown strong in the land, but not for truth. For they proceed from evil to evil and they do not know me, says Jehovah.
4 You* take heed each one of his neighbor and trust you* not in any brother, for every brother will utterly supplant and every neighbor will go about with gossipers. 5 And they will deceive each one his neighbor and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They inwardly set up an ambush. 6 Your habitation is in the midst of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me, says Jehovah.
7 Therefore Jehovah of hosts says thus: Behold, I will melt them and try them, for how else should I do, because of the daughter of my people? 8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit. He speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lies wait for him.
9 Shall I not visit them for these things? says Jehovah. Shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Jeremiah 11:13

13 For according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem you* have set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense to Baal.

Jeremiah 11:17

17 For Jehovah of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have worked for themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

Jeremiah 32:29

29 And the Chaldeans, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire and burn it, with the houses upon whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.

Jeremiah 44:3

3 because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense and to serve other gods, that they did not know, neither they, nor you*, nor your* fathers.

Ezekiel 18:10-13

10 If he begets a son who is a robber, who sheds blood and who does any one of these things, 11 and who does not do any of those duties, but has even eaten upon the mountains and defiled his neighbor's wife, 12 has wronged the poor and needy man, has taken by robbery, has not restored the pledge and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination, 13 has given forth upon interest and has taken increase, will he then live? He will not live. He has done all these abominations. He will surely die. His blood will be upon him.

Ezekiel 18:18

18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother and did what is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.

Ezekiel 33:25-26

25 Therefore say to them, The lord Jehovah says thus: You* eat with the blood and lift up your* eyes to your* idols and shed blood. And will you* possess the land? 26 You* stand upon your* sword, you* work abomination and you* defile every man his neighbor's wife. And will you* possess the land?

Hosea 4:1-3

1 Hear the word of Jehovah, you* sons of Israel, for Jehovah has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 There is nothing but swearing and breaking faith and killing and stealing and committing adultery. They break out and blood touches blood.
3 Therefore the land will mourn and everyone who dwells in it will languish with the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens. Yes, the fishes of the sea will also be taken away.

Micah 3:8-12

8 But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah and of judgment and of might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.
9 Hear this, I beseech you*, you* heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and pervert all equity. 10 They build up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with unrighteousness. 11 The heads of it judge for a bribe and the priests of it teach for a wage and the prophets of it divine for money.
Yet they lean upon Jehovah and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? No evil will come upon us. 12 Therefore for your* sake Zion will be plowed as a field and Jerusalem will become heaps and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

Zephaniah 1:5

5 and those who worship the host of heaven upon the housetops and those who worship, who swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam,

Zechariah 5:3-4

3 Then he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals will be cut off on the one side according to it and everyone who swears will be cut off on the other side according to it. 4 I will cause it to go forth, says Jehovah of hosts and it will enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it will abide in the midst of his house and will consume it, with the timber of it and the stones of it.

Romans 2:2

2 Now we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth upon those who practice such things.

Romans 2:17-29

17 Behold, you who are named a Jew and rest upon the law and boast in God, 18 and know God’s will and approve the things which carry more-value, being instructed out of the law, 19 and have confidence that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, 20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
21 Therefore you who are teaching a different one, are you not teaching yourself? You who are preaching not to steal, are you stealing? 22 You who are saying to not commit adultery, are you committing adultery? You who detest idols, are you a temple looter? 23 You who are boasting in the law, through your transgression of the law, are you dishonoring God? 24 ‘For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,’just-as it has been written. 25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you practice the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
26 Therefore, if the uncircumcision are observing the ordinances of the law, will his uncircumcision not be counted toward circumcision? 27 And the uncircumcision by nature who is completing the law, will be judging you, who are a transgressor of the law through the writing
and circumcision. 28 For he is not a Jew openly; nor is circumcision what is openly in the flesh, 29 but he is a Jew in the hidden thing, and the circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in the writing; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not be inheriting the kingdom of God? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor pedophiles, nor homosexuals, 10 nor the greedy ones, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will be inheriting the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

19 Now the works of the flesh are apparent, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, unbridled-lusts, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousies, furies, selfish ambitions, dissensions, sects, 21 envies, murders, drunkenness, revelings and things similar to these things; which I am telling to you beforehand, also just-as I foretold to you, that those who are practicing such things–they will not be inheriting the kingdom of God!

Ephesians 5:5-7

5 For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor greedy person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words; for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become joint partakers with them.

2 Timothy 3:2-5

2 For men will be lovers of themselves, money-lovers, braggarts, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 cold-hearted, implacable, slanderers, with no self-control, untamed, not lovers of good, 4 betrayers, rash, having been puffed up, loving sensual-delights rather than loving God; 5 holding to a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Now turn yourself away from these people.

James 4:1-4

1 From where are the wars and quarrels among you come from? Is it not from here, from your own sensual-delights which are warring in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; you murder and are jealous and are not able to obtain; you quarrel and make war; you do not have, because you are not asking. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask evilly, in order that you may spend it in your sensual-delights.
4 Adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever wills to be a friend of the world is designated as an enemy of God.

Isaiah 1:10-15

10 Hear the word of Jehovah, you* rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you* people of Gomorrah.
11 What to me is the multitude of your* sacrifices? says Jehovah. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts. And I do not delight in the blood of bullocks or of lambs or of male-goats. 12 When you* come to appear before me, who has required this at your* hand–to trample my courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations. Incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath, the calling of assemblies–I cannot bear wickedness and the solemn assembly. 14 Your* new moons and your* appointed feasts my soul hates. They are a trouble to me. I am weary of bearing them.
15 And when you* spread forth your* hands, I will hide my eyes from you*. Yes, when you* make many prayers, I will not hear; your* hands are full of blood.

Isaiah 48:2

2 (for they call themselves of the holy city and steady themselves upon the God of Israel, Jehovah of hosts is his name):

Isaiah 58:2-4

2 Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways. As a nation that did righteousness and forsook not the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.
3 Why have we fasted, they say and you do not see? We have afflicted our soul and you take no knowledge. Behold, in the day of your* fast you* find pleasure and exact from all your* laborers. 4 Behold, you* fast for strife and contention and to kill* with the fist of wickedness. You* do not fast this day so as to make your* voice to be heard on high.

17 Then he said to me, Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence and have turned again to provoke me to anger. And behold, they put the branch to their nose.

3 And the second poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood like that of the dead, and every living soul died in the sea.
4 And the third messenger poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of the waters, and it became blood. 5 And I heard the messenger of the waters saying, You are righteous, who is and who was, the Holy One, because you judged these things; 6 because they poured out the blood of holy-ones and prophets and you gave blood to them to drink because they are worthy. 7 And I heard from the altar saying, Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, your judgments are true and righteous.
8 And the fourth messenger poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to burn men in fire. 9 And men were burnt with great heat and the men blasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these wounds, and they did not repent to give him glory.

12 And the sixth poured out his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, in order that the way of the kings who come from the rising of the sun might be prepared. 13 And I saw out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs; 14 for they are spirits of demons, doing signs; which travel out to the kings of the whole inhabited-earth, to gather them together to the war of that great day of God the Almighty. 15 (Behold, I am coming like a thief. The fortunate one is watching and keeping his garments, in order that he may not walk naked and in order that they may see his indecency.) 16 And they gathered them together into the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.
17 And the seventh poured out his bowl upon the air, and there came forth a loud voice from the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It has happened. 18 And there became lightnings and thunders and voices, and there became a great earthquake, such-as has not happened from which time men were born upon the earth, so-great an earthquake–so great! 19 And the great city became divided into three parts and the cities of the nations fell and Babylon the great was remembered in God’s sight, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away and the mountains were not found. 21 And great hail, approximately a talant’s poundage,
comes down from heaven upon men and men blasphemed God from the wound of the hail, because its wound is extremely great.

1 Samuel 15:22

22 And Samuel said, Has Jehovah as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to listen than the fat of rams.

Psalms 40:6

6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me. Whole burnt offering and sacrifice for sin you did not require.

Psalms 50:8-17

8 I will not reprove you for your sacrifices and your burnt offerings being continually before me. 9 I will take no bullock out of your house, nor male-goats out of your folds.
10 Because every beast of the forest is mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the mountains and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, because the world is mine and the fullness of it. 13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving and pay your vows to the Most High. 15 And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will glorify me.
16 But to the wicked man God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes and that you have taken my covenant in your mouth, 17 since you hate instruction and cast my words behind you?

Psalms 51:16-17

16 Because you delight not in sacrifice, else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering.

6 And I will give peace in the land and you* will lie down and none will make you* afraid. And I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, nor will the sword go through your* land. 7 And you* will chase your* enemies and they will fall before you* by the sword. 8 And five of you* will chase a hundred and a hundred of you* will chase ten thousand and your* enemies will fall before you* by the sword.
9 And I will have respect to you* and make you* fruitful and multiply you* and will establish my covenant with you*. 10 And you* will eat old storage long kept and you* will bring forth the old because of the new.
11 And I will set my tabernacle among you* and my soul will not abhor you*. 12 And I will walk among you* and will be your* God and you* will be my people.

For your people, that you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. Nehemiah 9:16-20

16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly and stiffened their neck and did not listen to your commandments, 17 and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but stiffened their neck. And in their rebellion they appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and did not forsake them.
18 Yes, when they had made a molten calf for them and said, This is your God that brought you up out of Egypt and had worked great provocations, 19 yet you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud did not depart from over them by day to lead them in the way, neither the pillar of fire by night to show them light and the way in which they should go.
20 You also gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst.

Nehemiah 9:29

29 and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law. Yet they dealt proudly and did not listen to your commandments, but sinned against your ordinances (which if a man does, he will live in them) and withdrew the shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not hear.

11 But my people listened not to my voice and Israel would have none of me. 12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.

Psalms 106:7-48

7 Our fathers did not understand your wonders in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of your loving kindnesses, but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9 He also rebuked the Red Sea and it was dried up. So he led them through the depths as through a wilderness. 10 And he saved them from the hand of him who hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 And the waters covered their adversaries; there was not one of them left. 12 Then they believed his words. They sang his praise.
13 They soon forgot his works. They did not wait for his counsel, 14 but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and challenged God in the desert. 15 And he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.
16 They also envied Moses in the camp and Aaron the holy ones of Jehovah. 17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.
18 And a fire was kindled in their company. The flame burned up the wicked men.
19 They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a molten image. 20 Thus they changed their glory for the likeness of an ox that eats grass.
21 They forgot God their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, 22 wondrous works in the land of Ham and fearful things by the Red Sea.
23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy.
24 Yes, they despised the desirable land. They did not believe his word, 25 but murmured in their tents and did not listen to the voice of Jehovah.
26 Therefore he swore to them, that he would overthrow them in the wilderness, 27 and that he would overthrow their seed among the nations and scatter them in the lands.
28 They also joined themselves to Baal of Peor and ate the sacrifices of the dead. 29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their practices and the plague broke in upon them.
30 Then Phinehas stood up and executed judgment and so the plague was restrained. 31 And that was reckoned to him for righteousness to generation and generation until everlasting.
32 They also angered him at the waters of Meribah, so that it went ill with Moses because of them, 33 because they were rebellious against his spirit and he spoke ill-advisedly with his lips.
34 They did not destroy the peoples, as Jehovah commanded them, 35 but mingled themselves with the nations and learned their works, 36 and served their idols, which became a snare to them.
37 Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, 38 and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. And the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus they were defiled with their works and played the prostitute in their practices.
40 Therefore the wrath of Jehovah was kindled against his people and he detested his inheritance. 41 And he gave them into the hand of the nations. And those who hated them, ruled over them. 42 Their enemies also oppressed them and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their counsel and were brought low in their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless he regarded their distress when he heard their cry. 45 And he remembered his covenant for them and relented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses. 46 He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them captive.
47 Save us, O Jehovah our God and gather us from among the nations, to give thanks to your holy name and to triumph in your praise.
48 Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. And let all the people say, Truly. Praise Jehovah.

22 And at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah, you* provoked Jehovah to wrath. 23 And when Jehovah sent you* from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you*, then you* rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your* God and you* did not believe him, nor listen to his voice.

3 And he said to me, Son of man, I send you to the sons of Israel, to nations that are rebellious, which have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me even to this very day.

Ezekiel 20:5-32

5 and say to them, The lord Jehovah says thus: In the day when I chose Israel and swore to the seed of the house of Jacob and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, I am Jehovah your* God, 6 I swore to them in that day, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.
7 And I said to them, Cast away every man the abominations of his eyes and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am Jehovah your* God. 8 But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me. They did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9 But I worked for my name's sake (that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them) in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
10 So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness. 11 And I gave them my statutes and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them.
12 Moreover I also gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah who sanctifies them.
13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he will live in them. And they greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 14 But I worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.
15 Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands, 16 because they rejected my ordinances and did not walk in my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, for their heart went after their idols. 17 Nevertheless my eye spared them and I did not destroy them, nor did I make a full end of them in the wilderness.
18 And I said to their sons in the wilderness, Walk you* not in the statutes of your* fathers. Neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols. 19 I am Jehovah your* God. Walk in my statutes and keep my ordinances and do them, 20 and sanctify my Sabbaths and they will be a sign between me and you*, that you* may know that I am Jehovah your* God.
21 But the sons rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes, nor kept my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he will live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 22 Nevertheless I withdrew my hand and worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth.
23 Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries, 24 because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes and had profaned my Sabbaths and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.
25 Moreover I also gave them statutes that were not good and ordinances in which they will not live. 26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah.
27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, The lord Jehovah says thus: In this moreover your* fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.
28 For when I had brought them into the land, which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every thick tree and they offered there their sacrifices and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their sweet aroma and they poured out there their drink offerings. 29 Then I said to them, What does the high place to which you* go mean? So the name of it is called Bamah to this day.
30 Therefore say to the house of Israel, The lord Jehovah says thus: Do you* pollute yourselves according to the manner of your* fathers and play you* the prostitute according to their abominations? 31 And when you* offer your* gifts, when you* make your* sons to pass through the fire, do you* pollute yourselves with all your* idols to this day? And shall I be inquired of by you*, O house of Israel? As I live, says the lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you*.
32 And what comes into your* mind will not be at all, in that you* say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. 7 And you will speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, for they are most rebellious.

Ezekiel 3:4-11

4 And he said to me, Son of man, go, get to the house of Israel and speak to them with my words. 5 For you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel, 6 not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you cannot understand.
Surely, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you. 7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me. For all the house of Israel are of a hard forehead and of a stiff heart.
8 Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces and your forehead hard against their foreheads. 9 As an adamant, harder than flint, I have made your forehead. Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.
10 Moreover he said to me, Son of man, all my words that I will speak to you, receive in your heart and hear with your ears. 11 And go, get to those of the captivity, to the sons of your people and speak to them and tell them, The lord Jehovah says thus, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

Jeremiah 9:3-8

And the great man, he utters the evil desire of his soul. Thus they weave it together.
4 The best of them is as a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come. Now will be their perplexity.

We are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.
20 Yet hear the word of Jehovah, O you* women and let your* ear receive the word of his mouth and teach your* daughters wailing and each one her neighbor lamentation.

7 And he brought me to the door of the court. And when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall. 8 Then he said to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall. And when I had dug in the wall, behold, a door. 9 And he said to me, Go in and see the wicked abominations that they do here.
10 So I went in and saw, and behold, every form of creeping things and abominable beasts and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall all around.
11 And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel. And in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, each man with his censer in his hand and the odor of the cloud of incense went up. 12 Then he said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, each man in his chambers of imagery?
