¹⁴ if I have said to corruption, You are my father, to the worm, My mother and my sister,

²⁸ Though I am like a rotten thing that decays, like a garment that is moth-eaten.

²⁶ And after my skin, this body, is destroyed, then outside my flesh I will see God,

²⁶ They lie down alike in the dust and the worm covers them.

³² Yet he will be borne to the grave and men will keep watch over the tomb. ³³ The clods of the valley will be sweet to him. And all men will draw after him, as there were innumerable before him.

²⁰ The womb will forget him. The worm will feed sweetly on him. He will be no more remembered. And unrighteousness will be broken as a tree.

³⁰ My skin is black, and falls from me. And my bones are burned with heat.

¹⁰ Because you will not leave my soul to Sheol, nor will you allow your holy man to see corruption.

⁹ that he should still live always, that he should not see corruption.

¹¹ Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, and the noise of your viols. The worm is spread under you and worms cover you.

²⁷ because you will not forsake my soul to Hades, neither will you give your Holy One to see decay. ²⁸ You made known to me the ways of life. You will fill me with joy with your countenance.’ ²⁹ Brethren, it is legal for me to speak publicly to you concerning the patriarch David, that he is both dead and was buried and his tomb is among us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that from the fruit of his loins, to raise up the Christ according to the flesh to sit upon his throne. ³¹ Foreseeing this, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left to Hades, nor did his flesh see decay.

³⁴ Now that he raised him up from the dead, no longer being about to return to decay, he has spoken thus, I will be giving you the holy faithful things of David. ³⁵ Hence, he also says in different psalm, ‘You will not be giving your Holy One to see decay.’ ³⁶ For indeed David, having attended to the plan of God in his own generation, fell-asleep and was added to his fathers and saw decay; ³⁷ but he whom God raised up saw no decay.

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. If it is sown in corruption; it is raised up in incorruption.

⁵³ For it is essential this corruptible body to be clothed with incorruption and this mortal body to be clothed with immortality. ⁵⁴ But whenever this corruptible body has been clothed with incorruption and whenever this mortal has been clothed with immortality, then the word that has been written will become so, Death is swallowed up in victory.
