¹ However, Job, I beseech you, hear my speech and listen to all my words. ² Behold now, I have opened my mouth. My tongue has spoken in my mouth. ³ My words will utter the uprightness of my heart and what my lips know they will speak sincerely. ⁴ The Spirit of God has made me and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
⁵ If you can, answer you me. Set your words in order before me. Stand forth. ⁶ Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I also am formed out of the clay. ⁷ Behold, my terror will not make you afraid, nor will my pressure be heavy upon you.
⁸ Surely you have spoken in my hearing and I have heard the voice of your words, saying, ⁹ I am clean, without transgression. I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me. ¹⁰ You say, Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy. ¹¹ He puts my feet in the stocks. He marks all my paths.
¹² Behold, I will answer you. In this you are not just, for God is greater than man. ¹³ Why do you strive against him because he does not give account of any of his matters?
¹⁴ For God speaks once, yes twice, though man does not regard it. ¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed.
¹⁶ Then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction ¹⁷ that he may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man. ¹⁸ He keeps back his soul from the pit and his life from perishing by the sword.
¹⁹ He also is chastened with pain upon his bed and with continual strife in his bones, ²⁰ so that his life abhors bread and his soul dainty food. ²¹ His flesh is consumed away that it cannot be seen. And his bones that were not seen stick out.
²² Yes, his soul draws near to the pit and his life to the destroyers.
²³ If there is with him a messenger, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him, ²⁴ then God is gracious to him and says, Deliver him from going down to the pit; I have found a ransom. ²⁵ His flesh will be fresher than a child's. He returns to the days of his youth.
²⁶ He prays to God and he is favorable to him, so that he sees his face with joy and he restores to man his righteousness. ²⁷ He sings before men and says, I have sinned and perverted what was right and it did not profit me. ²⁸ He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit and my life will behold the light.
²⁹ Behold, all these things God works twice, yes three times, with a man, ³⁰ to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
³¹ Mark well, O Job, listen to me. Keep silent and I will speak. ³² If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you. ³³ If not, listen to me. Keep silent and I will teach you.

⁶ Hear now my reasoning and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

² Hear my words, you* wise men and listen to me, you* who have knowledge.

¹ Hear this, all you* peoples. Listen, all you* inhabitants of the world, ² both low and high, rich and poor together. ³ My mouth will speak wisdom and the meditation of my heart will be of understanding.

⁹ And he said, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹ After this Job opened his mouth and cursed his day.

³⁰ (yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse);

² I will open my mouth in parables. I will pour out dark sayings of long-ago,

² And he opened his mouth and was teaching them, saying:

²⁸ Now therefore be pleased to look upon me, for truly I will not lie to your* face.

² Should a wise man make answer with vain knowledge and fill himself with the east wind?

⁴ surely my lips will not speak unrighteousness, nor will my tongue utter deceit.

³ I will fetch my knowledge from afar and will bestow righteousness to my maker. ⁴ (For truly my words are not false.) He who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

² Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

³⁰ The mouth of a righteous man talks of wisdom and his tongue speaks justice. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps will slide.

⁷ Because my mouth will utter truth. And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

² The tongue of the wise utters knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours out folly.

⁷ The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but the heart of the foolish, not so.

¹⁵ There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

³ For our encouragement is not from deceit, nor from uncleanness, nor in treachery. ⁴ But just-as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the good-news, so we are speaking; not as pleasing men, but it is God who tests our hearts.

⁷ And Jehovah God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

³ Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

¹² You have granted me life and loving kindness and your visitation has preserved my spirit.

³ (For my life is yet whole in me. And the spirit of God is in my nostrils.)

⁸ But there is a spirit in man and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.

⁶ The heavens made were by the word of Jehovah and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free away from the law of sin and of death.

⁴⁵ So also it has been written, ‘The first man Adam became a living soul.’The last Adam is giving-life for our spirit.

¹⁸ Behold now, I have set my case in order. I know that I am righteous.

⁴ I would set my case in order before him and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which he would answer me and understand what he would say to me.

¹ So these three men ceased to answer Job because he was righteous in his own eyes.

¹² Yes, I attended to you*. And behold, there was none who convinced Job, or who answered his words among you*.

¹⁴ For he has not directed his words against me. Neither will I answer him with your* speeches.

³² If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I desire to justify you. ³³ If not, listen to me. Keep silent and I will teach you.

²¹ These things you have done and I kept silence. You thought that I was altogether such a one as yourself. But I will reprove you and set them in order before your eyes.

²⁶ But Peter lifted him up, saying, Stand up; I am also a man.

¹⁹ You will eat bread by the sweat of your face, till you return to the ground, because out of it you were taken. For you are dust and you will return to dust.

² And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel and he said, Am I in God's place, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?

¹⁶ and he will be your spokesman to the people. And it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth and you will be to him as God.

¹⁹ How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!

³² For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, that we should come together in judgment. ³³ There is no umpire between us who might lay his hand upon us both.
³⁴ Let him take his rod away from me and do not let his terror make me afraid. ³⁵ Then I would speak and not be afraid of him, for I am not so in myself.

⁹ I beseech you, remember that you have fashioned me as clay. And will you bring me into dust again?

³ Surely I would speak to the Almighty and I desire to reason with God.

¹² Your* memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes. Your* defenses are defenses of clay.

²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he will be in straits. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come upon him.

³ O that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his seat!
⁴ I would set my case in order before him and fill my mouth with arguments.

³⁵ O that I had someone to hear me (Behold, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me) and that I had the indictment which my adversary has written!

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle should be torn-down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, everlasting in the heavens.

²⁰ Therefore, we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ; as though God is encouraging you through us. We are beseeching you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

³⁴ Let him take his rod away from me and do not let his terror make me afraid.

²¹ Withdraw your hand far from me and do not let your dread make me afraid.

⁴ Because day and night your hand was heavy upon me. My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah.

¹⁶ Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off.

¹⁴ then you will inquire and make search and ask diligently. And behold, if it is true and the thing certain, that such abomination is worked in the midst of you,

²³ because they have done senselessness in Israel and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I did not command them. And I am he who knows and am witness, says Jehovah.

¹⁷ For he breaks me with a tempest and multiplies my wounds without cause.

²¹ Though I were perfect, I do not regard myself. I despise my life.

²³ If the scourge kills suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

²⁸ I am afraid of all my sorrows. I know that you will not hold me innocent.

⁷ although you know that I am not wicked. And there is none that can deliver out of your hand?

⁴ For you say, My doctrine is pure and I am clean in your eyes.

²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me to know my transgression and my sin.

¹⁷ although there is no violence in my hands and my prayer is pure.

⁸ Upright men will be astonished at this and the innocent will stir himself up against the profane.

¹¹ My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way and not turned aside. ¹² I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips, I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

⁵ Far be it from me that I should justify you*. Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me. ⁶ I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go. My heart will not reproach me so long as I live.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.

³⁵ Yet you said, I am innocent. Surely his anger is turned away from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with you because you say, I have not sinned.

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water and make my hands ever so clean, ³¹ yet you will plunge me in the ditch and my own clothes will abhor me.

¹⁵ If I am wicked, woe to me. And if I am righteous, yet I will not lift up my head, being filled with shame and looking upon my affliction.
¹⁶ And if my head exalts itself, you hunt me as a lion. And again you show yourself marvelous upon me. ¹⁷ You renew your witnesses against me and increase your indignation upon me. Changes and warfare are with me.

²⁴ Why do you hide your face and reckon me for your enemy? ²⁵ Will you harass a driven leaf? And will you pursue the dry stubble?

¹⁶ But now you number my steps. Do you not watch over my sin?14:17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag and you fasten up my iniquity.

⁹ He has torn me in his wrath and persecuted me. He has gnashed upon me with his teeth. My adversary sharpens his eyes upon me.

¹¹ He has also kindled his wrath against me. And he considers me to him as his adversaries.

²¹ You have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of your hand you persecute me.

⁵ For Job has said, I am righteous and God has taken away my right.

²⁷ You also put my feet in the stocks and mark all my paths. You set a bound to the soles of my feet.

⁴ Does he not see my ways and number all my steps?

¹⁸ They hurt his feet with fetters. He was placed in iron.

² Then Pashhur killed* Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Jehovah.

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing and he does according to his will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. And none can stay his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

²⁴ Having received such a command, he cast them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the wood stocks.

²² In all this Job did not sin, nor give any foolishness to God.

⁴ He is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

¹⁴ Behold, these are but the end of his ways. And how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?

¹⁷ I also will answer my part. I also will show my opinion,

¹⁰ Therefore listen to me, you* men of understanding. Far be it from me to sin before the Lord and pervert righteousness before the Almighty. ¹¹ For the work of a man he will render to him and cause every man to find according to his ways. ¹² Yes, certainly God will not do wrong. Neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

¹⁷ Behold he who hates lawlessness and who destroys evil men, who is forever righteousness, ¹⁸ who says to a king, You are worthless, to ranking men, You * are wicked, ¹⁹ who does not respect the persons of rulers, nor regards the rich more than the poor. For they all are the work of his hands.

²³ For he needs no further to consider a man, that he should go before God in judgment.

² What is this you think in judgment? Who are you that you said, I am righteousness before the Lord?

⁴ I will answer you and your companions with you.

⁵ Behold, God is mighty and does not despise. He is mighty in strength of understanding.

²² Behold, God does loftily in his power. Who is a teacher like him? ²³ Who has enjoined him his way? Or who can say, You have worked unrighteousness?

² Shall he who quibbles contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?
⁹ Or have you an arm like God? And can you thunder with a voice like him?

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth that does good and does not sin.

⁶ O house of Israel, cannot I do with you* as this potter? says Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are you* in my hand, O house of Israel.

²⁵ Yet you* say, The way of the Lord is not equitable. Hear now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equitable? Are not your* ways inequitable?

¹⁹ Therefore you will say to me, Why is he still finding-fault? For who is standing against his will? ²⁰ But-rather, O man, who are you who answers back against God? The molded thing will not say to the one who molded it, why did you make me so, will it? ²¹ Or does the potter not have authority over the clay, to make out of the same batch one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?

²⁹ The secret things belong to Jehovah our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our sons until everlasting, that we may do all the words of this law.

¹⁴ How much less shall I answer him and choose out my words to reason with him?

²⁵ Because he has stretched out his hand against God and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty.
²⁶ He runs upon him with a stiff neck, with the thick studs of his bucklers,

¹¹ God has spoken once, twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.

⁹ Woe to him who contends with his maker, a earthen vessel among the earthen vessels of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What are you making? or your work, He has no hands?

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning and from long-ago things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel will stand and I will do all my pleasure,

²⁴ I have laid a snare for you and you are also taken, O Babylon and you were not aware. You are found and also caught, because you have striven against Jehovah.

¹⁴ Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I will deal with you? I, Jehovah, have spoken it and will do it.

¹⁵ Or is it not legal for me to do what I will in the things which are mine? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?

⁷ Now he said to them, It is not yours to know times or seasons, which the Father placed in his own authority.

³⁹ but if it is from God, you will not be able to tear it down; lest you might be found even to be quarreling against God.

⁴ and having fallen upon the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?
⁵ But he said, Who are you, Lord?
But the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. It is harsh for you to kick the cattle-prods.

³⁴ For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become his counselor?

²² Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? We are not mightier than him, are we?

¹⁰ And Jehovah spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they gave no heed.

²⁹ Behold, all these things God works twice, yes three times, with a man,

⁵ I have spoken once and I will not answer, yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.

²⁴ Because I have called and you* have refused, I have stretched out my hand and no man has regarded,

²⁹ because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of Jehovah.

⁹ And he said, Go and tell this people, Hear indeed, but do not understand and see you* indeed, but do not perceive.

¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled in them, which says, ‘In hearing you will hear and may never understand, and seeing you will see and may never know;

¹⁷ And Jesus knew it and says to them, Why are you reasoning so, because you have no bread? Do you still not perceive, nor understand? Do you still have your heart hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? Having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

²⁵ And he said to them, O you foolish ones and slow in heart to believe upon all that the prophets have spoken!

¹⁹ Now this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.

¹² And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram. And behold, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.

³ But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night and said to him, Behold, you are but a dead man, over the woman whom you have taken; she is a man's wife.

²⁴ And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night and said to him, Take heed to yourself that you not speak to Jacob either good or bad.

⁶ And he said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you*, I Jehovah will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

¹³ In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,

²⁸ The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream. And he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? says Jehovah.

⁵ I saw a dream which made me afraid and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

¹⁸ Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground, but he touched me and set me upright.

¹ God spoke long-ago in many parts and in many manners, in the prophets to the fathers, has spoken to us in the end of these days in his Son,

²⁷ For you, O Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, I will build you a house. Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

³⁸ And yet for all this we make a sure covenant and write it and our rulers, our Levites, and our priests, seal to it.

¹⁰ He also opens their ear to instruction and commands that they return from wickedness.

¹⁵ He delivers the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ear in oppression.

⁶ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me. Whole burnt offering and sacrifice for sin you did not require.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat and make their ears heavy and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn and be healed.

⁸ Yes, you heard not. Yes, you did not know. Yes, from of old your ear was not opened. For I knew that you dealt very treacherously and were called a transgressor from the womb.

⁵ The lord Jehovah has opened my ear and I was not rebellious, nor turned away backward.

⁴⁵ Then he opened their mind to understand the Scriptures.

¹⁴ And a certain woman, Lydia by name, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira was hearing us and worshiping God, whose heart the Lord opened to take-heed to the things being spoken from Paul.

²⁸ Therefore, having completed this thing and having sealed this fruit for them, I will be going away into Spain through you.

⁶ And God said to him in the dream, Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this. And I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I did not allow you to touch her.

¹⁶ who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end.

⁹ Jehovah of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.

³⁰ The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?
³¹ While the word was in the king's mouth, a voice from heaven fell, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom is departed from you. ³² And you will be driven from men and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will be made to eat grass as oxen and seven times will pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will.
³³ The same hour the thing was fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar. And he was driven from men and ate grass as oxen. And his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair was grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws.
³⁴ And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. And I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored he who lives forever. For his dominion is an everlasting dominion and his kingdom from generation to generation. ³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing and he does according to his will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. And none can stay his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?
³⁶ At the same time my understanding returned to me and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me and my counselors and my lords sought to me. And I was established in my kingdom and excellent greatness was added to me.
³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth and his ways justice. And he is able to humble those who walk in pride.

⁶ Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns and I will build a wall against her, that she will not find her paths.

¹⁹ Now while sitting upon the judicial-seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing between you and that righteous man; for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.

But the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. It is harsh for you to kick the cattle-prods.

And the Lord said to him, But stand up and enter into the city and it will be spoken to you what it is essential for you to do.

⁷ And, in order that I should not promote myself by the excellence of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of the Adversary, in order that it might batter me, in order that I should not promote myself.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will be exalting you.

²² He does not believe that he will return out of darkness. And he is awaited by the sword.

²⁷ But the jailor, came out of sleep and saw the doors of the prison had been open, drew his sword and was about to assassinate himself, supposing the prisoners to have fled. ²⁸ But Paul shouted with a loud voice, saying, Do nothing evil to yourself; for we are all here.
²⁹ Now when he asked for lights, he dashed in and came in trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, ³⁰ and having led them out, he said, Lords, what is essential for me to do in order that I might be saved?
³¹ Now they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your house. ³² And they spoke the word of the Lord to him, to all who were in his house. ³³ And having taken them in that same hour of the night, he fully-washed their lashes, and he and all his household were instantly immersed^*. \ulnone\nosupersub

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, being ignorant that the kindness of God is leading you to repentance?

⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some deem slowness, but has patience toward us, not planning for any to perish, but for all to make room in your^\'b0 hearts for repentance.

¹⁵ And deem the patience of our Lord to be salvation; just-as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom which was given to him;

⁵ And you will consider in your heart, that, as a man disciplines his son, so Jehovah your God disciplines you.

¹⁰ Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

¹² And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet. His disease was exceedingly great, yet in his disease he did not seek for Jehovah, but to the physicians.

¹⁷ Behold, fortunate is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise you the chastening of the Almighty. ¹⁸ For he injures and binds up. He wounds and his hands make whole.

⁴ When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise and the night be gone? And I am full of tossing to and fro to the dawning of the day.

¹¹ His bones are full of his youth, but it will lie down with him in the dust.

¹⁷ In the night season my bones are pierced in me and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.

¹ O Jehovah, rebuke me not in your wrath, nor discipline me in your hot displeasure. ² Because your arrows stick fast in me and your hand presses me severely. ³ There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation, nor is there any health in my bones because of my sin.
⁴ Because my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. ⁵ My wounds are loathsome and corrupt, because of my foolishness.
⁶ I am pained and bowed down greatly. I go mourning all the day long. ⁷ Because my loins are filled with burning and there is no soundness in my flesh. ⁸ I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned because of the roaring of my heart.

¹² The man whom you discipline is fortunate, O Jehovah and teach out of your law,

⁶⁷ Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I observe your word.

⁷¹ It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.

⁹ Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven. And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar like smashed chalk-stones, so that the Asherim and the sun-images will rise no more.

¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden who were in Telassar? ¹³ Where is the king of Hamath and the king of Arpad and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena and Ivvah?

³² But being judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, in order that we should not be condemned together with the world.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her and he ate.

²⁴ For my sighing comes before I eat and my groanings are poured out like water.

¹⁷ Fools are afflicted because of their transgression and because of their iniquities. ¹⁸ Their soul abhors all manner of food and they draw near to the gates of death.

¹⁹ But I said, How I will put you among the sons and give you a desirable land, a pleasant heritage of the hosts of the nations! And I said, You* will call me My Father and will not turn away from following me.

¹¹ Inasmuch therefore as you* trample upon the poor and take exactions of wheat from him. You* have built houses of hewn stone, but you* will not dwell in them. You* have planted pleasant vineyards, but you* will not drink the wine of it.

⁵ My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust. My skin closes up and breaks out afresh.

²⁸ Though I am like a rotten thing that decays, like a garment that is moth-eaten.

²⁰ You prevail forever against him and he passes. You change his countenance and send him away.

²² But his flesh upon him has pain and his soul within him mourns.

⁸ And you have laid fast hold on me, which is a witness against me. And my leanness rises up against me; it testifies to my face.

²⁰ My bone cleaves to my skin and to my flesh and I have escaped with the skin of my teeth.

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like an earthen vessel and my tongue clings to my jaws and you have set me into the dust of death.
¹⁶ Because dogs have encompassed me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They pierced my hands and my feet. ¹⁷ I may count all my bones. They look and stare upon me.

³ Because I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all the day long. ⁴ Because day and night your hand was heavy upon me. My moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah.

¹¹ When you have disciplined a man with rebukes for iniquity, you make his desires to disintegrate like a moth. Surely every man is vanity. Selah.

³ Because my days consume away like smoke and my bones are burned as a firebrand. ⁴ My heart is struck like grass and withered, because I forget to eat my bread. ⁵ Because of the voice of my groaning my bones cling to my flesh.

¹¹ and you mourn at your latter end when your flesh and your body are consumed,

²³ For Jehovah will pass through to kill* the Egyptians and when he sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two side-posts, Jehovah will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your* houses to kill* you*.

⁶ Jehovah kills and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol and brings up.

¹⁶ And when the messenger stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah relented of the evil and said to the messenger who destroyed the people, It is enough. Now stay your hand. And the messenger of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

⁷ O remember that my life is a breath. My eye will no more see good.

²¹ Sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come upon him.

¹ My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, the grave is ready for me.

¹³ If I look for Sheol as my house, if I have spread my couch in the darkness, ¹⁴ if I have said to corruption, You are my father, to the worm, My mother and my sister, ¹⁵ where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who will see it? ¹⁶ It will go down to the bars of Sheol when once there is rest in the dust.

⁴ As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept from the ways of a violent man.

³ O Jehovah, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

³ Because my soul is full of troubles and my life draws near to Sheol. ⁴ I am reckoned with those who go down into the pit. I am as a man who has no help, ⁵ cast off among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more and they are cut off from your hand.

¹⁰ I said, In the noontide of my days I will go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years.

²³ But instantly a messenger of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory and he expired, having become maggot-eaten.

¹⁰ Nor murmur, like some of them also murmured, and perished by the destroyer.

¹¹ They have the messenger of the abyss as king over them. His name in Hebrew is Abbadon but in the Greek language he has the name Apollyon.

¹ And the messenger of Jehovah came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, I made you* go up out of Egypt and have brought you* to the land which I swore to your* fathers. And I said, I will not break my everlasting covenant with you*.

¹⁵ And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling-place. ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

³³ However you are just in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly,

³ If he is pleased to contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.

⁶ and that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For he is great in understanding. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

¹⁰ Therefore listen to me, you* men of understanding. Far be it from me to sin before the Lord and pervert righteousness before the Almighty.

¹² Yes, certainly God will not do wrong. Neither will the Almighty pervert justice.

³² teach me what I do not see; if I have done unrighteousness, I will do it no more?

¹⁴ How much less when you say that you do not behold him. The case is before him and you wait for him!

³ I will fetch my knowledge from afar and will bestow righteousness to my maker.

⁸ And if they are bound in fetters and be taken in the cords of afflictions, ⁹ then he shows them their work and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly. ¹⁰ He also opens their ear to instruction and commands that they return from wickedness.
¹¹ If they listen and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures. ¹² But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword and they will die without knowledge.
¹³ But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They do not cry for help when he binds them.

²³ O the Almighty, we cannot find him out. He is excellent in power. And in justice and abundant righteousness he will not afflict.

⁷⁵ I know, O Jehovah, that your judgments are righteous and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

²⁸ which my soul still seeks, but I have not found: among a thousand I have found one man, but among all those I have not found a woman.

¹ The Spirit of the lord Jehovah is upon me, because Jehovah has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind and the opening of bonds to those who are bound, ² to proclaim the acceptable year of Jehovah and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

²² It is of Jehovah's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions do not fail. ²³ They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

³² For though he causes grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

³⁹ Why does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us search and try our ways and turn again to Jehovah. ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens.

²⁵ Yet you* say, The way of the Lord is not equitable. Hear now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equitable? Are not your* ways inequitable?
²⁶ When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits unrighteousness and dies in it, in his unrighteousness that he has done, he will die. ²⁷ Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive. ²⁸ Because he considers and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he will surely live. He will not die.

¹⁴ Therefore Jehovah has watched over the evil and brought it upon us, for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he does and we have not obeyed his voice.

¹³ Then Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, spoke in Jehovah's message to the people, saying, I am with you*, says Jehovah.

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge and they should seek the law at his mouth. For he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

¹ Behold, I send my messenger and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord, whom you* seek, will suddenly come to his temple. And the messenger of the covenant, whom you* desire, behold, he comes, says Jehovah of hosts.

³⁰ Now Philip having ran up to him, heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said, Do you know then what you are reading?

¹³ For I speak to you who are Gentiles, inasmuch as I am indeed an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my service;

³⁰ Because of this, many among you are weak and sick and a considerable number fall-asleep. ³¹ For if we were discerning ourselves, we would not be judged. ³² But being judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, in order that we should not be condemned together with the world.

⁵ And you have forgotten the encouragement which reasons with you as with sons, ‘My son, do not regard-lightly the disciplining of the Lord, nor be fainting when you are reproved by him. ⁶ For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and scourges every son whom he is accepting.’ ⁷ It is for disciplining that you endure; God is dealing with you as with sons; for what is the son whom his father is not disciplining? ⁸ But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, consequently, you are illegitimate and not sons. ⁹ Thereafter, we have indeed had the fathers of our flesh as correctors of us, and we were revering them. Will we not much rather be made subject to the Father of spirits and we will live? ¹⁰ For they indeed were disciplining us for a few days according to what did seem right to them, but he does it upon what is advantageous for us, that we may receive of his holiness. ¹¹ Now indeed all disciplining does not seem to be a thing of joy for the present, but of sorrow; now later it gives peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised because of it. ¹² Hence straighten the drooping hands and the paralyzed knees;

¹⁹ And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before you. I will be merciful to whom I may be merciful and I will be compassionate to whomever I may be compassionate.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth, ⁷ keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons' sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.

²¹ Acquaint now yourself with him and be at peace. By this good will come to you.

¹⁸ He keeps back his soul from the pit and his life from perishing by the sword.

¹⁰ He also opens their ear to instruction and commands that they return from wickedness.
¹¹ If they listen and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures.

¹⁸ and there will be wrath upon the impious because of the ungodliness of bribes which the unrighteous receive.

⁴ Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted and you delivered them.

⁹ What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth? ¹⁰ Hear, O Jehovah and have mercy upon me. Jehovah, be my helper. ¹¹ You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, ¹² to the end that my glory may sing praise to you and not be silent.
O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks to you everlasting.

² He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the muddy clay and he set my feet upon a rock and established my steps.

⁷ none can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him ⁸ (for the redemption of their life is costly and it fails everlasting),

³ Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually resort. You have given commandment to save me, because you are my rock and my fortress.

⁵ Because you, Lord, are good and ready to forgive and abundant in loving kindness to all those who call upon you.

¹³ Because great is your loving kindness toward me and you have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.

¹⁵ But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth.

¹⁷ Behold, for peace I had great bitterness. But you have by love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption. For you have cast all my sins behind your back. ¹⁸ For Sheol cannot praise you, death cannot celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.
¹⁹ The living, the living, he will praise you, as I do this day. The father to the sons will make known your truth.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him. I will surely have mercy upon him, says Jehovah.

² Take with you* words and return to Jehovah. Say to him, Take away all iniquity and accept what is good. So we will render as bullocks the offering of our lips.

⁴ I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely. For my anger is turned away from him.

¹⁸ Who is a God like to you, who pardons iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.
¹⁹ He will again have compassion upon us. He will tread our iniquities under foot and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will perform the truth to Jacob and the loving kindness to Abraham, which you have sworn to our fathers from the days of long-ago.

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.

²⁸ just-like the Son of Man did not come to be served to, but to serve and to give his life as a redemption in exchange-for many.

²⁴ All those who believe, being made righteous freely by his grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, ²⁵ whom God purposed as an atonement through the faith in his blood in an example of his righteousness, because of the passing over of the sins, having been done beforehand, ²⁶ (in the forbearance of God), even toward the example of his righteousness in this current time, that he may himself be righteous and who is making righteous the one from the faith of Jesus.

²⁰ But the law entered in beside us, in order that the trespass might increase, but where sin increased, the favor over-abounded; ²¹ in order that, just-as sin reigned in death, so also the favor might also reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom on behalf of all; the testimony given in its own times;

¹⁸ knowing that you were redeemed from your futile conduct handed down from your forefathers not with corruptible things like with silver or with gold. ¹⁹ But like that of an unblemished and unstained lamb, you were redeemed by the precious blood of Christ,

⁷ And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

¹⁰ And now, behold, Jehovah has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. ¹¹ As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war and to go out and to come in.

¹⁴ Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God. And his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

¹⁶ And after this Job lived a hundred and forty years and saw his sons and his sons' sons, even four generations.

⁵ who satisfies your desire with good things and your youth is renewed like the eagle.

¹⁵ And I will give her, her vineyards from there and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. And she will make answer there, as in the days of her youth and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

²⁵ Jehovah make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. ²⁶ Jehovah lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

²³ And Jehovah will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness, inasmuch as Jehovah delivered you into my hand today and I would not put forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed.

² Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed to Jehovah, saying, ³ Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart and have done what is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept greatly.
⁴ And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of Jehovah came to him, saying, ⁵ Turn back and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Jehovah says thus, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you will go up to the house of Jehovah.

¹² And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he prayed to him. And he was entreated of him and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.

¹⁹ Also his prayer and how God was entreated by him and all his sin and his trespass and the places in which he built high places and set up the Asherim.

²⁶ For then will you delight yourself in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.
²⁷ You will make your prayer to him and he will hear you and you will pay your vows.

¹¹ For the work of a man he will render to him and cause every man to find according to his ways.

²⁸ so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him and he heard the cry of the afflicted.

⁸ Now therefore, take to you* seven bullocks and seven rams. And go to my servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And my servant Job will pray for you*, for him I will accept, that I not deal with you* after your* senselessness. For you* have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.
⁹ So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did just-as Jehovah commanded them and Jehovah accepted Job.

⁶ There are many who say, Who will show us good? Jehovah, lift you up the light of your countenance upon us. ⁷ You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.

¹ O Jehovah, do not rebuke me in your anger, nor discipline me in your hot displeasure. ² Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah, because I am withered away. O Jehovah, heal me, because my bones are troubled.
³ My soul also is greatly troubled. And you, O Jehovah, how long? ⁴ Return, O Jehovah, deliver my soul. Save me for your loving kindness' sake. ⁵ Because in death there is no remembrance of you. Who will give you thanks in Sheol?
⁶ I am weary with my groaning. Every night I make my bed to swim. I water my couch with my tears. ⁷ My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.
⁸ Depart from me, all you* workers of wickedness, because Jehovah has heard the voice of my weeping. ⁹ Jehovah has heard my supplication. Jehovah will receive my prayer.

¹¹ You made known to me the path of life. You will fill me of joy with your countenance.

²⁰ Jehovah has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has recompensed me.

¹ To you, O Jehovah, I will call. My rock, do not be deaf to me, lest, if you are silent to me, I become like those who go down into the pit. ² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your holy oracle.

⁶ Praise Jehovah, because he has heard the voice of my supplications.

⁵ Because his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may abide for the night, but joy is in the morning.

⁷ You, Jehovah, had made my mountain to stand strong from your favor. You hid your face; I was troubled. ⁸ I cried to you, O Jehovah and I made supplication to Jehovah.
⁹ What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth? ¹⁰ Hear, O Jehovah and have mercy upon me. Jehovah, be my helper. ¹¹ You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,

⁸ A wicked speech, they say, clings firm to him. And now that he lies he will rise up no more.
⁹ Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
¹⁰ But you, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me and raise me up that I may repay them. ¹¹ I know that you delight in me by this, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will glorify me.

¹² Also to you, O Lord, belongs loving kindness, because you render to every man according to his work.

¹ God be merciful to us and bless us and cause his face to shine upon us (Selah),

¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

¹ I love Jehovah because he hears my voice and my supplications. ² Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call as long as I live.
³ The cords of death encompassed me and the pains of Sheol found me. I found trouble and sorrow. ⁴ Then I called upon the name of Jehovah. O Jehovah, I beseech you, deliver my soul.
⁵ Gracious is Jehovah and righteous. Yes, our God is merciful. ⁶ Jehovah preserves the simple. I was brought low and he saved me.

¹² If you say, Behold, we did not know this, Does not he who weighs the hearts consider it? And he who keeps your soul, does he not know it? And will not he render to every man according to his work?

¹⁹ For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he will hear, he will answer you.

³ Call to me and I will answer you and will show you great things and difficult, which you do not know.

² And he said, I called because of my affliction to Jehovah and he answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried and you heard my voice.
³ For you cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas and the flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me. ⁴ And I said, I am cast out from before your eyes. Yet I will look again toward your holy temple.
⁵ The waters encompassed me around, even to the soul. The deep was all around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth with its bars closed upon me everlasting. Yet you have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.
⁷ When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah. And my prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

⁴¹ He who accepts a prophet in the name of a prophet, will be receiving a prophet’s reward, and he who accepts a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, will be receiving a righteous man’s reward. ⁴² And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to drink to one of these little ones, in the name of a disciple, assuredly I am saying to you, He may never lose his reward.

²⁸ You made known to me the ways of life. You will fill me with joy with your countenance.’

¹¹ Now the Lord said to him, When you stand up, travel to the lane which is called Straight and seek one from Tarsus, Saul by name, in the house of Judas; for behold, he is praying;

²⁶ having deemed the reproach of the Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking toward the reward.

²⁴ Now to the one who is able to guard us from falling and to stand us in the sight of his glory, unblemished in gladness,

¹³ And she called the name of Jehovah who spoke to her, You are a God who sees, because she said, Have I even looked behind him, who sees me here?

¹¹ And Aaron said to Moses, Oh, my lord, I beseech you, do not lay sin upon us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.

¹³ And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against Jehovah. And Nathan said to David, Jehovah also has put away your sin; you will not die.

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong to those whose heart is perfect toward him. In this you have done foolishly, for from hereafter you will have wars.

²⁰ If I have sinned, what do I do to you, O you, watcher of men? Why have you set me as a mark for you, so that I am a burden to myself?

⁹ For you should not say, There will be no visitation to a man; visitation is to him from the Lord.

⁴ Jehovah is in his holy temple. Jehovah's throne is in heaven. His eyes, behold, his eyelids try, the sons of men.

² Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making a simple man wise. ⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes.

¹²⁸ Therefore I esteem all precepts concerning all things to be right. I hate every false way.

¹ O Jehovah, you have searched and known me. ² You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thought afar off. ³ You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
⁴ Because there is not a word in my tongue, but behold, O Jehovah, you know it altogether.

²¹ Because the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah and he makes level all his paths.

³ The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

¹³ He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

⁸ If you see the oppression of a poor man and the violent robbery of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter. Because a man higher than the high is observing and there are higher men than they.

⁸ The priests did not say, Where is Jehovah? And those who handle the law did not know me. The rulers also transgressed against me. And the prophets prophesied by Baal and walked after things that do not profit.

¹³ Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Jehovah your God and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree and you* have not obeyed my voice, says Jehovah.

²⁴ Can any man hide himself in secret places so that I will not see him? says Jehovah. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says Jehovah.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim sympathize within himself saying, You have disciplined me and I was disciplined as a calf unaccustomed to the yoke. Turn me back and I will be turned back, for you are Jehovah my God.
¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned back. I repented and after I was instructed, I killed* upon my thigh. I was ashamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and should forfeit his soul? Or what shall a man give as an exchange for his soul?

¹⁸ After having risen up, I will be traveling to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned at heaven, and in your sight. ¹⁹ I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants. \ulnone\nosupersub ²⁰ And standing up, he came to his father. But while he was still distant, far from him, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell upon his neck and kissed him. ²¹ But the son said to him, Father, I have sinned at heaven, and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
²² But the father said to his bondservants, Bring out the foremost robe and clothe him, and give him a ring for his hand and shoes for his feet;

¹³ And the tax collector, standing from afar, was not even willing to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be lenient to me, the sinner.

²¹ Therefore, what fruit were you having then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

¹² So-that the law indeed is holy and the commandment holy and righteous and good. ¹³ Therefore what is the good thing for me, has it become death? Let it not happen! But sin, in order that it might appear as sin, through what is the good thing for me, was working death; in order that sin might become a surpassingly-better sinner through the commandment. ¹⁴ For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, having been sold under sin.

¹⁶ But if I am practicing this thing which I do not will, I assent together with the law; that it is good.

²² For I delight-inwardly in the law of God according to the inward man.

⁸ If we should say that we have no sin, we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we should say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

⁹ Let the stars of the twilight of it be dark. Let it look for light, but have none, nor let it behold the eyelids of the morning.

¹⁶ Or I should have been as a hidden untimely birth, as infants that never saw light.

²⁰ Why is light given to him who is in misery and life to the bitter in soul,

¹⁶ It will go down to the bars of Sheol when once there is rest in the dust.

²⁸ You will also decree a thing and it will be established to you. And light will shine upon your ways.

²⁰ so that his life abhors bread and his soul dainty food.

¹⁹ he will go to the generation of his fathers. They will never see the light.

²³ But you, O God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.

¹⁵ Do not let the water flood overwhelm me, nor let the deep swallow me up. And do not let the pit shut its mouth upon me.

² The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them the light has shone.

¹⁷ Behold, for peace I had great bitterness. But you have by love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption. For you have cast all my sins behind your back. ¹⁸ For Sheol cannot praise you, death cannot celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.

⁹ Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he is not stumbling, because he sees the light of this world.

¹ And I saw a messenger coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. ² And he took-hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and the Adversary, the one who is misleading the whole inhabited-earth and bound him a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the abyss and locked it and sealed it above him, in order that he may not mislead the nations anymore, till the thousand years might be completed. It is essential for him to be loosed for a little time after these things.

¹⁰ And the King of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of. And he saved himself there, not once nor twice.

¹⁴ For God speaks once, yes twice, though man does not regard it. ¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed.
¹⁶ Then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction ¹⁷ that he may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man.

⁶ And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God, who is working all things in all.

⁵ Now God is the one who worked us for this same thing, who also gave the down-payment of the Spirit to us.

⁸ I pleaded with the Lord three-times in regard to this thing, in order that it might withdraw from me.

¹¹ In him in whom, we were also made an inheritance, having been predetermined according to the purpose of the one who is working all things after the plan of his will.

¹³ For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work, on behalf of his delight.

²⁹ for which I also labor, struggling according to his working, which works in power in me.

²¹ may he complete you in every good work, that you should practice his will, doing what is well pleasing in his sight in you, through Jesus Christ in whom is the glory, forevermore. Amen.

¹ I waited patiently for Jehovah and he inclined to me and heard my cry. ² He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the muddy clay and he set my feet upon a rock and established my steps.

¹³ Because you have delivered my soul from death and my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹⁷ I will not die, but live and declare the works of Jehovah. ¹⁸ Jehovah has disciplined me greatly, but he has not given me over to death.

⁵ O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of Jehovah.

¹² Therefore, again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world. He who is following me may never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary to God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among those who have been made holy in faith, the faith in me.

² How long will you* hunt for words? Consider and afterwards we will speak.

² Hear diligently my speech, And let this be your* consolations.

¹¹ Behold, I waited for your* words, I listened for your* reasonings, while you* searched out what to say.

⁴ Yes, you do away with fear and hinder devotion before God.
⁵ For your iniquity teaches your mouth. And you choose the tongue of the crafty.

²⁷ Behold, I know your* thoughts and the devices with which you* would wrong me.

⁵ Is not your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities. ⁶ For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the land. And the honorable man, he dwelt in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

⁵ Far be it from me that I should justify you*. Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.

³ My words will utter the uprightness of my heart and what my lips know they will speak sincerely.

¹¹ Come, you* children, listen to me. I will teach you* the fear of Jehovah.

³ My mouth will speak wisdom and the meditation of my heart will be of understanding.

¹ Hear sons, the instruction of a father and attend to know understanding. ² Because I give you* good doctrine. Do not forsake my law.

¹ My son, attend to my wisdom. Incline your ear to my understanding, ² that you may preserve discretion and that your lips may keep knowledge.

⁵ O you* simple, understand prudence, and you* fools, be of an understanding heart.
