¹ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, ² If a man tries to speak with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking? ³ Behold, you have instructed many and you have strengthened the weak hands. ⁴ Your words have upheld him who was falling and you have made firm the feeble knees.
⁵ But now it comes to you and you faint. It touches you and you are troubled.
⁶ Is not your fear of God your confidence, the integrity of your ways your hope? ⁷ I beseech you, remember those who perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?
⁸ According to what I have seen, those who plow wickedness and sow trouble, reap the same. ⁹ By the breath of God they perish and by the blast of his anger they are consumed. ¹⁰ The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. ¹¹ The old lion perishes for lack of prey and the cubs of the lioness are scattered abroad.
¹² Now a thing was secretly brought to me and my ear received a whisper of it. ¹³ In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, ¹⁴ fear came upon me and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. ¹⁵ Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up. ¹⁶ It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance of it. A form was before my eyes.
There was silence and I heard a voice, saying, ¹⁷ Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker? ¹⁸ Behold, he puts no trust in his servants and he charges his messengers with error.
¹⁹ How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth! ²⁰ Between morning and evening they are destroyed. They perish forever without any regarding it. ²¹ Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die and that without wisdom.

¹¹ Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that came upon him, they came each one from his own place–Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite–and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and to comfort him.

¹ After this Job opened his mouth and cursed his day. ² And Job answered and said,

¹ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

⁹ So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did just-as Jehovah commanded them and Jehovah accepted Job.

¹⁸ for I am full of words. The spirit within me compels me. ¹⁹ Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent. Like new wine-skins it is ready to burst. ²⁰ I will speak that I may be refreshed. I will open my lips and answer.

¹¹ Therefore I am full of the wrath of Jehovah. I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the sons in the street and upon the assembly of young men together. For even the husband with the wife will be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.

⁹ And if I say, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones and I am weary with forbearing and I cannot.

²⁰ For we are not able to speak, but the things which we saw and heard.

⁴ For I wrote to you out of much affliction and dismay of heart through many tears; not in order that you should be made sorrowful, but that you may know the love that I have even-more toward you.
⁵ But if anyone has caused-sorrow, he has not caused-sorrow to me, (that I may not burden him), but partially to you all. ⁶ Sufficient to such a one is this penalty which was inflicted by the many;

⁸ Because even if I made you sorrowful in the previous letter, I do not regret it; even if I was regretting it. For I see that, that letter made you sorrowful, even if but for a season. ⁹ I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might suffer-damage in nothing from us. ¹⁰ For the sorrow which is according to the will of God is working unregrettable repentance for salvation, but the sorrow of the world is working death.

¹⁹ For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice, to the end that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham what he has spoken of him.

²⁸ But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he will go over before this people and he will cause them to inherit the land which you will see.

²² and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy. For Jehovah had made them joyful and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

⁵ But I would strengthen you* with my mouth and the solace of my lips would keep back your * grief.

²¹ The lips of a righteous man feeds many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

⁷ The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but the heart of the foolish, not so.

²¹ The wise in heart will be called prudent and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.

³ Strengthen you* the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees.

⁴ The lord Jehovah has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words he who is weary. He awakens morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

²² Because with lies you* have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way and be saved alive.

³² But I besought concerning you, in order that your faith may not fail, and someday having turned back again, establish your brethren.

⁴³ Now a messenger from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

²⁹ Do not let any rotten speech travel from your mouth. But if something is good for the building up of a need, do this in order that it may give a favor to those who are hearing.

⁶ Let your speech always be in gratitude, having been seasoned in salt, that you may know how it is essential for you to answer each one.

¹² Hence straighten the drooping hands and the paralyzed knees;

¹⁴ Jehovah upholds all who fall and raises up all those who are bowed down.

¹⁸ There is he who speaks rashly like the stabs of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is health.

²³ The heart of the wise instructs his mouth and adds learning to his lips.
²⁴ Pleasant words are a honeycomb: Sweet to the soul and health to the bones.

³ Strengthen you* the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees. ⁴ Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, do not fear. Behold, your* God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you*.

⁶ Then the king's countenance was changed in him and his thoughts troubled him. And the joints of his loins were loosed and his knees killed* one against another.

⁷ so-that you, rather instead, are to forgive him and to encourage him, lest such a one might be swallowed up with his sorrow even-more.

⁶ But God, who encourages the humble, encouraged us at the presence of Titus;

¹⁴ But brethren, we encourage you : admonish the disorderly, console the fainthearted, hold up the weak, have patience toward all.

¹¹ But put forth your hand now and touch all that he has and he will renounce you to your face.

⁵ But put forth your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will renounce you to your face.

²⁵ For the thing which I fear comes upon me and what I am afraid of comes to me. ²⁶ I am not at ease, nor am I quiet, neither have I rest, but trouble comes.

¹⁴ To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be from his friend, even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

²¹ Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O you* my friends, for the hand of God has touched me.

¹⁰ If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

¹ Because of this, having this service, just-as we have been shown-mercy, we are not depressed.

¹⁶ Hence we are not depressed, but even if the outward man is decaying, but yet our inward man is renewed day in and day out.

³ For, study the one who has endured such dispute by sinners to himself, in order that you might not be weary, fainting in your souls.

⁵ And you have forgotten the encouragement which reasons with you as with sons, ‘My son, do not regard-lightly the disciplining of the Lord, nor be fainting when you are reproved by him.

³ Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart and have done what is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept greatly.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job and that man was perfect and upright and one who feared God and turned away from evil.

⁸ And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. ⁹ Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? ¹⁰ Have you not made a hedge on every side on behalf of him and his house and all that he has? You have blessed the work of his hands and his substance is increased in the land.

¹⁵ Behold, he will kill me; I have no hope. Nevertheless I will maintain my ways before him.

¹⁷ although there is no violence in my hands and my prayer is pure.

¹⁵ where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who will see it?

¹¹ My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way and not turned aside. ¹² I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips, I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

⁵ Far be it from me that I should justify you*. Till I die I will not put away my integrity from me. ⁶ I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go. My heart will not reproach me so long as I live.

¹² Because I delivered the poor who cried, also the fatherless who had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of him who was ready to perish came upon me and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
¹⁴ I put on righteousness and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.
¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind and I was feet to the lame. ¹⁶ I was a father to the needy and I searched out the case of he whom I did not know. ¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes. How then should I look upon a virgin? ² For what is the portion from God above and the heritage from the Almighty on high? ³ Is it not calamity to the unrighteous and disaster to the workers of wickedness? ⁴ Does he not see my ways and number all my steps?
⁵ If I have walked with falsehood and my foot has hastened to deceit ⁶ (let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity); ⁷ if my step has turned out of the way and my heart walked after my eyes and if any spot has clung to my hands, ⁸ then let me sow and let another eat, yes, let the produce of my field be rooted out.
⁹ If my heart has been enticed to a woman and I have laid wait at my neighbor's door, ¹⁰ then let my wife grind to another and let others bow down upon her. ¹¹ For that is a heinous crime, yes, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges. ¹² For it is a fire that consumes to destruction and would root out all my increase.
¹³ If I have despised the case of my man-servant or of my maid-servant when they contended with me, ¹⁴ what then shall I do when God rises up? And when he visits, what shall I answer him? ¹⁵ Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?
¹⁶ If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, ¹⁷ or have eaten my morsel alone and the fatherless has not eaten of it ¹⁸ (no, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father and her I have guided from my mother's womb); ¹⁹ if I have seen any perish for lack of clothing, or that the needy had no covering; ²⁰ if his loins have not blessed me and if he has not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep; ²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate, ²² then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade and my arm be broken from the bone. ²³ For calamity from God is a terror to me and I can do nothing because of his majesty.
²⁴ If I have made gold my hope and have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ if I have rejoiced because my wealth was great and because my hand had gotten much; ²⁶ if I have beheld the sun when it shone, or the moon walking in brightness, ²⁷ and my heart has been secretly enticed and my mouth has kissed my hand ²⁸ (this also is an iniquity to be punished by the judges, for I would have denied the God that is above); ²⁹ if I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him ³⁰ (yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse); ³¹ if the men of my tent have not said, Who can find one who has not been filled with his food? ³² (the traveler has not lodged in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler); ³³ if like Adam I have covered my transgressions by hiding my iniquity in my bosom ³⁴ because I feared the great multitude and the contempt of families terrified me so that I kept my silence and did not go out of the door.
³⁵ O that I had someone to hear me (Behold, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me) and that I had the indictment which my adversary has written! ³⁶ Surely I would carry it upon my shoulder. I would bind it to me as a crown. ³⁷ I would declare to him the number of my steps. I would go near to him as a prince.
³⁸ If my land cries out against me and the furrows of it weep together; ³⁹ if I have eaten the fruits of it without money, or have caused the owners of it to lose their lives, ⁴⁰ let thistles grow instead of wheat and cockle instead of barley.
The words of Job are ended.

²⁶ Because Jehovah will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken.

²⁶ Strong confidence is in the fear of Jehovah and his sons will have a place of refuge.

¹³ Hence when you have girded up the loins of your mind, while being sober, hope completely upon the grace being brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

¹⁷ And if you call upon the Father, who impartially judges according to the work of each one, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your foreign residency here;

²⁰ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, nor will he uphold the evildoers.

²² It is all one thing. Therefore I say, He destroys the perfect and the wicked. ²³ If the scourge kills suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.

⁷ He does not withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but he sets them forever with kings upon the throne and they are exalted.

²⁵ I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen a righteous man forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

¹⁵ All this I have seen in my days of vanity. There is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness and there is a wicked man who prolongs his life in his evil-doing.

¹ This I laid to my heart for all, even to explore all this, that the righteous and the wise and their works, are in the hand of God. No man understands, either love or hatred. All is before them.
² All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous man and to the wicked man, to the good man and to the clean man and to the unclean man, to him who sacrifices and to him who does not sacrifice, as is the good man, so is the sinner and he who swears, as he who fears an oath.

⁴ Now as the barbarians saw the snake hanging from his hand, they were saying to one another, This man is certainly a murderer, whom, having been saved out of the sea, justice did not permit him to live.

⁹ The Lord knows how to rescue the devout out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous to a day of judgment to be punished;

³⁵ They conceive mischief and bring forth wickness and their heart prepares deceit.

¹⁴ Behold the wicked man, he travails with wickedness. Yes, he has conceived mischief and brought out falsehood. ¹⁵ He has made a pit and dug it and has fallen into the ditch which he made. ¹⁶ His mischief will return upon his own head and his violence will come down upon his own scalp.

⁸ He who sows unrighteousness will reap calamity and the rod of his wrath will fail.

¹⁸ Your way and your practices have procured these things to you. This is your wickedness, for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.

⁷ For they sow the wind and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The blade will yield no meal. Perhaps it yields, strangers will swallow it up.

¹² Sow to yourselves in righteousness. Reap according to kindness. Break up your* tillable ground, for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he comes and rains righteousness upon you*.
¹³ You* have plowed wickedness. You* have reaped unrighteousness. You* have eaten the fruit of lies. For you trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty men.

⁶ But I say this, He who is sowing sparingly will also be reaping sparingly, and he who is sowing upon his bounties will also be reaping upon his bounties.

⁷ Do not be misled. God is not ridiculed; for whatever a man sows, he will also be reaping this thing. ⁸ Because he who is sowing to his own flesh will be reaping corruption from his flesh, but he who is sowing to the Spirit will be reaping everlasting life from the Spirit.

⁸ And with the blast of your nostrils the waters were piled up. The flowing waters stood up as a heap. The depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

¹⁰ You did blow with your wind, the sea covered them. They sank as lead in the mighty waters.

⁷ Behold, I will put a spirit in him and he will hear news and will return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

¹⁹ And behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness and killed* the four corners of the house and it fell upon the young men and they are dead and only I alone have escaped to tell you.

³⁰ He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his offshoots and by the breath of God's mouth he will go away.

¹³ Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.

¹⁵ Then the channels of waters appeared and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O Jehovah, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.

⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.
And he will kill* the earth with the rod of his mouth and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.

³³ For a Topheth is prepared of old, yes, it is made ready for the king. He has made it deep and large. The pile of it is fire and much wood. The breath of Jehovah kindles it, like a stream of brimstone.

⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will be consuming with the breath of his mouth and will be doing-away-with him by the appearing of his presence;

¹⁶ Therefore repent; otherwise I am coming to you shortly and make war with them with the long-sword of my mouth.

¹⁵ But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.

¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.

⁷ Arise, O Jehovah. Save me, O my God. Because you have struck all my enemies upon the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.

⁴ My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows and their tongue is a sharp sword.

⁶ Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth. Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.

¹⁴ There is a generation whose teeth are swords and their jaw teeth, knives, to devour the poor from the earth and the needy from among men.

⁹ Judah is a lion's cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he couched as a lion and as a lioness, who will rouse him up?

²⁴ Behold, the people rise up as a lioness and as a lion he lifts himself up. He will not lie down until he eats of the prey and drinks the blood of the slain.

⁹ He couched, he lay down as a lion and as a lioness. Who will rouse him up? He who graces you is blessed, And he who curses you is cursed.

³ Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness? ⁴ If your sons have sinned against him and he has delivered them into the hand of their transgression,

¹⁴ If his sons be multiplied, it is for the sword. And his offspring will not be satisfied with bread.
¹⁵ Those who remain of him will be buried in death and his widows will make no lamentation.

³⁹ Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions

² lest they tear my soul like a lion, tearing it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

¹⁰ The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek Jehovah will not want any good thing.

⁷ A lion has gone up from his thicket and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way, he has gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

¹⁰ They will walk after Jehovah, who will roar like a lion. For he will roar and the sons will come trembling from the west.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood beside me and empowered me; in order that the preaching might be fully assured through me and in order that all the Gentiles might hear and I was rescued out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁴ Behold, these are but the end of his ways. And how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?

¹¹ God has spoken once, twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.

¹² For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. I know now partially, but then I will fully know just-as I was also fully known.

²¹ And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and he slept. And God took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh under it.

¹² And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram. And behold, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.

³ But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night and said to him, Behold, you are but a dead man, over the woman whom you have taken; she is a man's wife.

¹² And he dreamed and behold, a ladder set up on the earth and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the messengers of God ascending and descending on it.

²⁴ And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night and said to him, Take heed to yourself that you not speak to Jacob either good or bad.

² And God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here I am.

⁶ And he said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you*, I Jehovah will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

¹⁹ Now therefore, I beseech you*, abide also here this night, that I may know what Jehovah will speak to me more.
²⁰ And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, If the men come to call you, rise up, go with them, but only the word which I speak to you, that will you do.

¹⁴ For God speaks once, yes twice, though man does not regard it. ¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed.
¹⁶ Then he opens the ears of men and seals their instruction

¹⁹ Then the secret was shown to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

²⁸ but there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. And he has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.
Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed, are these: ²⁹ As for you, O king, your thoughts came upon your bed, what should happen hereafter. And he who reveals secrets has made known to you what will happen.

⁵ I saw a dream which made me afraid and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

¹⁸ Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground, but he touched me and set me upright.

⁹ Yet I heard the voice of his words. And when I heard the voice of his words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.

¹⁴ Then you scare me with dreams and terrify me through visions,

¹⁹ He also is chastened with pain upon his bed and with continual strife in his bones,

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you and I am afraid of your judgments.

⁵ Then I said, Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

¹¹ And he said to me, O Daniel, you man are a great delight, understand the words that I speak to you and stand upright, for I am now sent to you. And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood, trembling.

¹⁶ I heard and my body trembled. My lips quivered at the voice. Rottenness enters into my bones and I tremble in my place, because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, for the coming up of the people who invade us.

¹² And Zacharias, having seen him, was disturbed, and fear fell upon him.

²⁹ But having seen him, she was very disturbed at his speech, and was reasoning what sort of greeting this might be.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell like one dead at his feet. And he placed his right hand upon me, saying, Do not fear; I am the first and the last,

⁴ who makes his messengers spirits, his ministers a flame of fire,

⁸ And they will be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows will take hold. They will be in pain as a woman in travail. They will look in amazement one at another, their faces, faces of flame.

³ Therefore my loins are filled with anguish. Pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman in travail. I am pained so that I cannot hear. I am dismayed so that I cannot see. ⁴ My heart wanders. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling to me.

²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking upon the sea, they were disturbed, saying, It is an apparition, and they cried out from their fear.

³⁷ But they became terrified and fearful and were thinking that they had viewed a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are you disturbed? And why do questions come up in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones, like you view me having.

⁷ And he indeed says toward the messengers, ‘Who makes his messengers, spirits, and his ministers, a flame of fire.’

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, being sent forth into service because of those who are about to inherit salvation?

¹² And after the earthquake a fire, but Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire a still small voice.

²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing, to kill a righteous man with a wicked man, that so the righteous man should be as the wicked man. Far be it from you. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

³ Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

² Of a truth I know that it is so. But how can man be just with God?

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water and make my hands ever so clean, ³¹ yet you will plunge me in the ditch and my own clothes will abhor me.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

⁴ How then can man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of a woman?

² What is this you think in judgment? Who are you that you said, I am righteousness before the Lord?

¹⁰ But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night,

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

² And do not enter into judgment with your servant. Because in your sight no man living is righteous.

¹⁷ Jehovah is righteous in all his ways and gracious in all his works.

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth that does good and does not sin.

¹ You are righteous, O Jehovah, when I contend with you. Yet I would reason the case with you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those at ease who deal very treacherously?

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly corrupt. Who can know it?

²⁰ Now he said, What travels out from the man, this desecrates the man. ²¹ For evil reasonings travel from inside, out of the heart of men, such as : adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, ²² greedy-acts, wickednesses, treachery, unbridled-lusts, an evil eye, blasphemy, haughtiness, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things travel from inside, and desecrate the man.

⁵ But you store up wrath for yourself according to your hardness and unrepentant heart in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

⁴ Let it not happen! Now, let God become true, but everyone a liar; just-as it has been written, ‘ That you should be made righteous in your words and may overcome when you are judged.’ ⁵ For if our unrighteousness is establishing the righteousness of God, what will we say? The God who brings upon us wrath is not unrighteous, is he? (I speak according to the manner of man.) ⁶ Let it not happen! Otherwise how will God judge the world?
⁷ But if the truth of God in my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still being judged like a sinner?

²⁰ But-rather, O man, who are you who answers back against God? The molded thing will not say to the one who molded it, why did you make me so, will it?

³³ O the depth of the riches, and of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and untraceable his ways!

⁸ And the four living creatures, one by one, having six wings apiece, are full of eyes inside and surrounding, and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is coming.

¹⁵ Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight. ¹⁶ How much less one who is abominable and morally-corrupt, a man who drinks unrighteousness like water!

⁵ Behold, even the moon has no brightness. And the stars are not pure in his sight. ⁶ How much less man, who is a worm! And the son of man, who is a worm!

²⁰ Praise Jehovah, you* his messengers, who are mighty in strength, who fulfill his word, listening to the voice of his word.
²¹ Praise Jehovah, all you* his hosts, you* ministers of his, who do his pleasure.

² Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings, with two he covered his face and with two he covered his feet and with two he flew.
³ And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory.

⁴ For if God did not spare messengers who sinned, but threw them into hell and gave them to restraints of blackness, being kept for judgment;

⁶ And the messengers who did not keep to their own principality, but having left their own house, he has kept to the judgment of the great day in eternal bonds under blackness.

⁷ And Jehovah God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

¹⁹ You will eat bread by the sweat of your face, till you return to the ground, because out of it you were taken. For you are dust and you will return to dust.

²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken it upon me to speak to the Lord, who am I but dust and ashes.

⁹ I beseech you, remember that you have fashioned me as clay. And will you bring me into dust again?

¹² Your* memorable sayings are proverbs of ashes. Your* defenses are defenses of clay.

²⁸ Though I am like a rotten thing that decays, like a garment that is moth-eaten.

² He comes forth like a flower and is cut down. He too flees as a shadow and does not continue.

¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

⁶ Behold, I am toward God even as you are. I also am formed out of the clay.

¹¹ When you have disciplined a man with rebukes for iniquity, you make his desires to disintegrate like a moth. Surely every man is vanity. Selah.

⁵ You carry them away as with a flood. They are as a sleep. They are like grass which grows up in the morning. ⁶ In the morning it flourishes and grows up. In the evening it is cut down and withers.
⁷ Because we are consumed in your anger and in your wrath are we troubled.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass, as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. ¹⁶ Because the wind passes over it and it has gone and the place of it will know it no more.

⁴ His breath goes forth, he returns to his earth. His thoughts perish in that very day.

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay vessels, in order that the excellence of the power may be from God and not from us.

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle should be torn-down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, everlasting in the heavens.

²⁴ Because, ‘All flesh is like grass and all the glory of man is like the flower of grass. The grass dried up and the its flower fell away.

⁶ And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation and city against city. For God distressed them with all adversity.

²⁰ He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. And he departed without being the least desirable. And they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchers of the kings.

¹⁴ If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my warfare I would wait till my release should come.

²⁰ You prevail forever against him and he passes. You change his countenance and send him away.

²² For when a few years are come, I will go the way where I will not return.

¹⁷ His remembrance will perish from the earth and he will have no name in the street.

⁷ yet he will perish forever like his own manure. Those who have seen him will say, Where is he?

³⁶ But I passed by, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

¹³ O spare me, that I may recover strength before I go from here and be no more.

⁷ When the wicked spring up like the grass and when all the workers of unrighteousness flourish, it is that they will be destroyed forever,

⁷ The memory of a righteous man is praised, but the name of the wicked will rot.

¹² My dwelling is removed and is carried away from me as a shepherd's tent. I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me. ¹³ I quieted myself until morning. As a lion, so he breaks all my bones. From day even to night will you make an end of me.

²² Those who hate you will be clothed with shame and the tent of the wicked will be no more.

²¹ Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous and this is the place of him who does not know God.

¹² But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword and they will die without knowledge.

⁵ Behold, you have made my days as the width of hands and my life-time is as nothing before you. Surely every man at his best condition is altogether vanity. Selah.

¹⁴ They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd and the upright will have dominion over them in the morning. And their beauty will be for Sheol to consume, that there is no habitation for it.

²⁰ A man who is in splendor and does not understand, is like the beasts that perish.

³ Do not put your* trust in rulers, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. ⁴ His breath goes forth, he returns to his earth. His thoughts perish in that very day.

²² Cease you* from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for how is he to be accounted of?

¹⁶ Those who see you will gaze at you. They will consider you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,

²⁰ But God said to him, Fool, your soul is asked back from you in this night, and the things which you prepared, whose will they be?

²² Now it happened, that the poor man died and that he was carried away by the messengers into Abraham’s bosom, and the rich man also died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and he sees Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.

¹¹ For the sun has risen together with the burning heat, and dried up the grass, and its flower fell and the beauty of its face perished. So shall the rich man also fade away in his pursuits.
