²⁴ Now when Jesus saw him, having become very sorrowful, he said, How those who have wealth will hardly enter into the kingdom of God!

¹⁰ And it will be, when Jehovah your God will bring you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give you, great and pleasant cities, which you did not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which you did not fill and cisterns hewn out, which you did not hew, vineyards and olive trees, which you did not plant and you will eat and be full, ¹² then beware lest you forget Jehovah, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹¹ Beware lest you forget Jehovah your God, in not keeping his commandments and his ordinances and his statutes, which I command you this day. ¹² Lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built pleasant houses and dwelt in it, ¹³ and when your herds and your flocks multiply and your silver and your gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, ¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up and you forget Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, ¹⁵ who led you through the great and terrible wilderness–fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where was no water–who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint, ¹⁶ who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end.
¹⁷ And lest you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.

³ Because the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. And the greedy man renounces, yes, despises Jehovah.

⁵ They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like other men. ⁶ Therefore pride is as a chain around their neck. Violence covers them as a garment.
⁷ Their eyes stand out with fatness. They have more than heart could wish.
⁸ They scoff and utter oppression in wickedness. They speak loftily. ⁹ They have set their mouth in the heavens and their tongue walks through the earth.
¹⁰ Therefore his people return here and waters of a full cup are drained by them.
¹¹ And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?
¹² Behold, these are the wicked and those who prosper of old. They have possessed wealth.

²⁸ He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish as the green leaf.

¹¹ The rich man's wealth is his strong city and as a high wall in his own imagination.

⁹ lest I am full and deny you and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I am poor and steal and use the name of my God profanely.

³¹ O generation, see you* the word of Jehovah. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say, We have broken loose. We will come no more to you?

⁵ I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of Jehovah and the law of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke and burst the bonds.

²³ Now Jesus said to his disciples, Assuredly I am saying to you, A rich man will hardly enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ²⁴ But again I am saying to you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
²⁵ Now when his disciples heard it, they were being extremely astounded, saying, Who then is able to be saved?

²⁶ And the king became very sorrowful, but because of his oaths and those who reclined at the meal together with him, he did not wish to reject her.

²³ And Jesus, having looked around, says to his disciples, How those who have wealth will hardly enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁴ Now the disciples were being amazed upon his words. But Jesus again answered and says to them, Children, how hard it is for those who have confidence in wealth to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to enter through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
²⁶ Now they were being astounded even-more with themselves, saying to him, Then who is able to be saved?
²⁷ But Jesus, having looked at them, says, It is impossible with men, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.

²⁶ For you see your calling brethren, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world, in order that he might shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world, in order that he might shame the strong;

⁹ I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might suffer-damage in nothing from us. ¹⁰ For the sorrow which is according to the will of God is working unregrettable repentance for salvation, but the sorrow of the world is working death.

⁹ But those who are planning to be rich are falling into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, which are submerging men into utter-destruction and everlasting destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils; of which some aspiring to, have been misled from the faith and they themselves are staked-through by many sorrows.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren. Did God not choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him? ⁶ But you have dishonored the poor. Are the rich not oppressing you? And are they themselves not dragging you into the courts? ⁷ Are they not blaspheming the good name, the one which was surnamed upon you?

¹ Come now you rich, weep, howling in your miseries, in those which are coming upon you. ² Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have tarnished, and their tarnish will be for a testimony against you and will be eating your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure in your^\'b0 last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the workers who mowed your farmlands, the wages which have been defrauded by you, are crying out against you and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts. ⁵ You have caroused upon the land and are self-indulgent; you have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have sentenced others, you murdered the righteous; there is no resisting in you.
