⁷ and I came to Jerusalem and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.

¹ Now when these things were done, the rulers drew near to me, saying, The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians and the Amorites.

⁵ had prepared for him a great chamber, where formerly they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense and the vessels and the tithes of the grain, the new wine and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites and the singers and the gatekeepers and the heave offerings for the priests.

¹⁰ The adversary has spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things. For she has seen that the nations have entered into her sanctuary, concerning whom you commanded that they should not enter into your assembly.

¹² And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all those who are selling and buying in the temple, and turned over the tables of the brokers and the chairs of those selling the doves; ¹³ and he says to them, It has been written, My house will be called a house of prayer, but you made it a den of robbers.
