¹ And the Canaanite, the King of Arad, who dwelt in the South, heard tell that Israel came by the way of Atharim and he fought against Israel and took some of them captive. ² And Israel vowed a vow to Jehovah and said, If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. ³ And Jehovah listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites. And they utterly destroyed them and their cities. And the name of the place was called Hormah. ⁴ And they journeyed from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to encompass the land of Edom. And the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. ⁵ And the people spoke against God and against Moses, Why have you* brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread and there is no water and our soul loathes this light bread. ⁶ And Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people and many people of Israel died.
⁷ And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah and against you. Pray to Jehovah, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. ⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, You make a fiery serpent and set it upon a standard. And it will happen, that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, will live. ⁹ And Moses made a serpent of brass and set it upon the standard. And it happened, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of brass, he lived.
¹⁰ And the sons of Israel journeyed and encamped in Oboth. ¹¹ And they journeyed from Oboth and encamped at Iye-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise. ¹² From there they journeyed and encamped in the valley of Zered. ¹³ From there they journeyed and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites, for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. ¹⁴ Therefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Jehovah, Waheb in Suphah and the valleys of the Arnon, ¹⁵ and the slope of the valleys that inclines toward the dwelling of Ar and leans upon the border of Moab.
¹⁶ And from there they journeyed to Beer. That is the well of which Jehovah said to Moses, Gather the people together and I will give them water. ¹⁷ Then Israel sang this song: Spring up, O well. Sing to it, ¹⁸ the well, which the rulers dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their staves. And from the wilderness they journeyed to Mattanah, ¹⁹ and from Mattanah to Nahaliel and from Nahaliel to Bamoth, ²⁰ and from Bamoth to the valley which is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down upon the desert.
²¹ And Israel sent messengers to Sihon King of the Amorites, saying, ²² Let me pass through your land. We will not turn aside into field, or into vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king's highway, until we have passed your border. ²³ And Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together and went out against Israel into the wilderness and came to Jahaz and he fought against Israel.
²⁴ And Israel killed* him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the sons of Ammon, for the border of the sons of Ammon was strong. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities. And Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all the towns of it. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the King of the Amorites, who had fought against the former King of Moab and had taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, Come you* to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established. ²⁸ For a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of the Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh. He has given his sons as fugitives and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon King of the Amorites. ³⁰ We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon and we have laid waste even to Nophah, which reaches to Medeba.
³¹ Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Jazer. And they took the towns of it and drove out the Amorites that were there.
³³ And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan. And Og the King of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Fear him not, for I have delivered him into your hand and all his people and his land. And you will do to him as you did to Sihon King of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon. ³⁵ So they killed* him and his sons and all his people, until there was none left to him remaining. And they possessed his land.

²¹ So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath. ²² And they went up by the South and came to Hebron. And Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the sons of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

⁴⁵ Then the Amalekites came down and the Canaanites who dwelt in that mountain and killed* them and beat them down, even to Hormah.

⁴⁰ And the Canaanite, the King of Arad, who dwelt in the South in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the sons of Israel.)

³² Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.

⁵ And the men of Ai killed* of them about thirty-six men. And they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim and killed* them at the descent. And the hearts of the people melted and became as water.

¹⁹ There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, except the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon. They took all in battle. ²⁰ For it was of Jehovah to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁴ the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

¹⁶ And the sons of the Kenite, Moses' brother-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the sons of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad and they went and dwelt with the people.

³ Because they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them, but your right hand and your arm and the light of your countenance, because you were favorable to them.
⁴ You are my King, O God. Command deliverance for Jacob.

²⁰ And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and will give me bread to eat and garments to put on,

²⁸ Notwithstanding, nothing set apart, that a man will set apart to Jehovah of all that he has, whether of man or beast, or of the field of his possession, will be sold or redeemed; everything set apart is most holy to Jehovah. ²⁹ No one set apart, who will be set apart from among men, will be ransomed; he will surely be put to death.

¹⁵ you will surely kill* the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly and all that is in it and the cattle in it, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁷ And the city will be set apart, even it and all that is in it, to Jehovah. Only Rahab the prostitute will live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

²⁶ And Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Jehovah who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay the foundation of it and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up the gates of it.

³⁰ And Jephthah vowed a vow to Jehovah and said, If you will indeed deliver the sons of Ammon into my hand,

¹¹ And she vowed a vow and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid and remember me and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a male-child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life and there will no razor come upon his head.

⁷ And it happened at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, I beseech you, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Jehovah, in Hebron. ⁸ For your servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If Jehovah will indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Jehovah.

¹² Your vows are upon me, O God. I will render thank offerings to you. ¹³ Because you have delivered my soul from death and my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹⁸ I will pay my vows to Jehovah, yes, in the presence of all his people,

² how he swore to Jehovah and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

²² If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. The Lord has come!

⁴⁴ And the Amorites, who dwelt in that hill-country, came out against you* and chased you*, as bees do and beat you* down in Seir, even to Hormah.

³⁰ and to those who were in Hormah and to those who were in Bor-ashan and to those who were in Athach,

¹⁷ Jehovah, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear,

¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

¹⁷ He has regarded the prayer of the destitute and has not despised their prayer.

⁹ And Moses spoke so to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses for anguish of spirit and for cruel bondage.

²⁵ Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley. Tomorrow turn and get into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.

¹⁸ And Edom said to him, You will not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you. ¹⁹ And the sons of Israel said to him, We will go up by the highway. And if we drink of your water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price of it. Only let me, without doing anything, pass through on my feet. ²⁰ And he said, You will not pass through. And Edom came out against him with many people and with a strong hand.
²¹ Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border. Therefore Israel turned away from him. ²² And they journeyed from Kadesh and the sons of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
²³ And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,

²⁷ And Moses did as Jehovah commanded. And they went up into Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.

⁷ And why do you* discourage the heart of the sons of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah has given them?

⁹ For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the sons of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Jehovah had given them.

⁴¹ And they journeyed from Mount Hor and encamped in Zalmonah.

⁴⁰ But as for you*, turn and take your* journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.

⁵ Do not contend with them, for I will not give you* of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for a possession. ⁶ You* will purchase food from them for money, that you* may eat and you* will also buy water from them for money, that you* may drink. ⁷ For Jehovah your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He has known your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years Jehovah your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.
⁸ So we passed by from our brothers the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

¹⁸ Then they went through the wilderness and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and came by the east side of the land of Moab. And they encamped on the other side of the Arnon, but they did not come within the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.

²² further strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to remain in the faith, and that it is essential for us through many afflictions to enter into the kingdom of God.

³ that no one be shook up in these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are destined for this thing. ⁴ For even when we were with you, we were telling you beforehand that we are about to be afflicted; just-as it also happened and you know.

¹¹ And they said to Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt?

²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What will we drink?

² And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness. ³ And the sons of Israel said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, because you* have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

⁷ and in the morning, then you* will see the glory of Jehovah, because he hears your* murmurings against Jehovah. And what are we, that you* murmur against us?
⁸ And Moses said, This will be when Jehovah will give you* flesh to eat in the evening and bread to the full in the morning, when Jehovah hears your* murmurings which you* murmur against him. And what are we? Your* murmurings are not against us, because they are against Jehovah.

¹⁵ And when the sons of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is it? For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, It is the bread which Jehovah has given you* to eat.

³¹ And the house of Israel called the name of it Manna. And it was like coriander seed, white and the taste of it was like wafers with honey.

² Therefore the people contended with Moses and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why do you* contend with me? Why do you* challenge Jehovah? ³ And the people thirsted there for water. And the people murmured against Moses and said, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our sons and our cattle with thirst?

¹ And the people were as complainers, speaking evil in the ears of Jehovah. And when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them and devoured in the outermost part of the camp. ² And the people cried to Moses. And Moses prayed to Jehovah and the fire abated. ³ And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah burnt among them.
⁴ And the mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly. And the sons of Israel also wept again and said, Who will give us flesh to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish which we ate in Egypt for nothing, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, ⁶ but now our soul is dried away. There is nothing at all except this manna to look upon.
⁷ And the manna was like coriander seed and the appearance of it as the appearance of bdellium. ⁸ The people went about and gathered it and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars and boiled it in pots and made cakes of it. And the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. ⁹ And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried and the people wept that night. ² And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. And the whole congregation said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt, or would that we had died in this wilderness! ³ And why does Jehovah bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey. Were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
⁴ And they said one to another, Let us make a captain and let us return into Egypt.

¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must make yourself also a ruler over us? ¹⁴ Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.

⁴¹ But on the morrow all the congregation of the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, You* have killed the people of Jehovah.

¹² And the sons of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone.

⁶ God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners into prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God. They said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?

²⁴ and he rained down manna upon them to eat and gave them food from heaven.
²⁵ Man ate the bread of the mighty. He sent them food to the full.

⁷ The full soul loathes a honeycomb, but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

¹⁴ And Jehovah God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle and above every beast of the field. Upon your belly you will go and dust you will eat all the days of your life. ¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise your head and you will bruise his heel.

¹⁵ who led you through the great and terrible wilderness–fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where was no water–who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint,

²⁹ Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that killed* you is broken. For out of the serpent's root will come out an adder and his fruit will be a fiery flying serpent.

⁶ The burden of the beasts of the South.
Through the land of trouble and anguish, from where come the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of young donkeys and their treasures upon the humps of camels, to a people who will not profit them.

¹⁷ For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you*, which will not be charmed and they will bite you*, says Jehovah.

³ And though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there. And though they are hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the serpent and it will bite them. ⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword and it will kill them. And I will set my eyes upon them for evil and not for good.

⁹ Nor should we test the Christ, just-as some of them also tested him, and perished by the serpents.

⁷ Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet and he will pray for you and you will live. And if you do not restore her, you will know that you will surely die, you and all who are yours.

⁸ Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said, Entreat Jehovah, that he take away the frogs from me and from my people and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to Jehovah.

²⁸ And Pharaoh said, I will let you* go, that you* may sacrifice to Jehovah your* God in the wilderness, only you* will not go very far away. Entreat for me.

²⁷ And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron and said to them, I have sinned this time. Jehovah is righteous and I and my people are wicked. ²⁸ Entreat Jehovah, let it be enough of these mighty thunderings and hail and I will let you* go and you* will stay no longer.

¹¹ And Moses besought Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, why does your wrath grow hot against your people, whom you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

³⁰ And it happened on the morrow, that Moses said to the people, You* have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to Jehovah, perhaps I will make atonement for your* sin.

² And the people cried to Moses. And Moses prayed to Jehovah and the fire abated.

¹⁷ And now, I beseech you, let the power of the Lord be great, just-as you have spoken, saying, ¹⁸ Jehovah is slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, upon the third and upon the fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness and just-as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
²⁰ And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to your word,

²⁰ And Jehovah was very angry with Aaron to destroy him. And I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²⁶ And I prayed to Jehovah and said, O lord Jehovah, destroy not your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
²⁷ Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Do not look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their profaneness, nor to their sin, ²⁸ lest the land from where you brought us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness. ²⁹ Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.

¹⁹ And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants to Jehovah your God that we not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask a king for us.
²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, Do not fear. You* have indeed done all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following Jehovah, but serve Jehovah with all your* heart. ²¹ And do not turn not aside after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.
²² For Jehovah will not forsake his people for his great name's sake, because it has pleased Jehovah to make you* a people to himself. ²³ Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you*. But I will instruct you* in the good and the right way.

²⁴ And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

³⁰ Then he said, I have sinned. I beseech you, yet honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah your God.

⁶ And the king answered and said to the man of God, Entreat now the favor of Jehovah your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored to me again. And the man of God entreated Jehovah and the king's hand was restored to him again and became as it was before.

⁸ Now therefore, take to you* seven bullocks and seven rams. And go to my servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And my servant Job will pray for you*, for him I will accept, that I not deal with you* after your* senselessness. For you* have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.

¹⁰ And Jehovah turned back the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. And Jehovah gave Job twice as much as he had before.

³⁴ When he killed them, then they inquired after him and they returned and sought God earnestly.

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy.

¹ Then Jehovah said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not be toward this people. Cast them out of my sight and let them go forth.

³ And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to Jehovah our God on our behalf.

¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offense and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.

⁴ saying, I have sinned, giving up innocent blood.
But they said, What is that to us? You will see to it.

²⁴ But Simon answered and said, You, beseech on my behalf to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.

¹ Brethren, indeed the delight of my heart and my supplication to God on behalf of Israel, is for their salvation.

¹⁶ Therefore confess your trespasses to one another, and pray on behalf of one another, that you may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man prevails; much in its working.

⁴³ Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their counsel and were brought low in their iniquity.
⁴⁴ Nevertheless he regarded their distress when he heard their cry. ⁴⁵ And he remembered his covenant for them and relented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

⁸ Jehovah is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great loving kindness.

¹⁴ And just-as Moses who exalted the serpent in the wilderness, so it is essential for the Son of Man to also be exalted;

⁴ He removed the high places and broke the pillars and cut down the Asherah and he broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made. For to those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it and he called it Nehushtan.

²² Look to me and be you* saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication. And they will look to me whom they have pierced. And they will mourn for him, as a man mourns for his only son and will be in bitterness for him, as a man who is in bitterness for his firstborn.

²⁹ On the next-day he sees Jesus coming toward him and says, Behold, the Lamb of God, who is taking away the sin of the world!

¹⁴ And just-as Moses who exalted the serpent in the wilderness, so it is essential for the Son of Man to also be exalted; ¹⁵ in order that everyone who believes in him might not perish but may have everlasting life.

⁴⁰ But this is the will of the one who sent me, in order that everyone who views the Son and believes in him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up in the last day.

³² And if I am exalted out of the earth, I will be attracting all peoples to myself.

¹⁷ For the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to

² Looking away from things, look toward Jesus, the author and completer of the faith, who endured the cross having despised shame, in exchange-for the joy laying before him, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ He who is practicing sin is from the devil, because the devil sins from the beginning, to this end the Son of God was manifested, in order that he might tear-down the works of the devil.

⁴³ And they journeyed from Punon and encamped in Oboth.

¹³ Now rise up and you* get over the brook Zered. ² For it will be that, as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so will the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon.

²⁰ Moab is put to shame, for it is broken down. Wail and cry, tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

¹³ And the sun stood still and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Is this not written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stayed in the midst of heaven and hastened not to go down about a whole day.

¹⁸ (and he commanded them teach the sons of Judah the song of the bow; behold, it is written in the book of Jashar):

²⁸ For a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of the Arnon.

⁹ And Jehovah said to me, Do not harass Moab, neither contend with them in battle, for I will not give to you of his land for a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot for a possession.

¹⁸ You are this day to pass over Ar, the border of Moab.

²⁹ as the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, until I will pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God gives us.

¹ The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing.

⁶ Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb and you will kill* the rock and there will come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

⁸ Take the rod and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water and you will bring forth water to them out of the rock. So you will give the congregation and their cattle drink.

²¹ And Jotham ran away and fled and went to Beer and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.

³ Therefore with joy you* will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

¹⁷ The poor and needy seek water and there is none and their tongue fails for thirst. I, Jehovah, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. ¹⁸ I will open rivers on the bare heights and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water.

²⁰ The beasts of the field will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

¹⁰ They will not hunger nor thirst, neither will the heat nor sun kill* them. For he who has mercy on them will lead them. He will guide them even by springs of water.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God and who it is that says to you, Give to me some water to drink; you would have asked him, and he would have given living water to you.

¹⁴ but whoever is drinking from the water that I will be giving him may never be thirsty, but the water that I will be giving him will become in him a well of water leaping up to everlasting life.

³⁷ Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and let him drink. ³⁸ He who believes in me, like the Scripture has said, Rivers of living water will be flowing out of his belly. ³⁹ But he spoke this concerning the Spirit, which those who believed in him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

⁶ And he said to me, I have become the Alpha and the Omega, I am the beginning and the end. I will be giving freely to the one who is thirsty out of the spring of the water of life.

¹ And he showed me a river of the clean water of life, bright like crystal, traveling out from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride are saying, Come. And he who hears, let him say, Come. And he who is thirsty, let him come. He who wills, let him take the water of life freely.

¹ Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to Jehovah and spoke, saying, I will sing to Jehovah, because he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
² Jehovah is my strength and song and he has become my salvation. This is my God and I will praise him, my father's God and I will exalt him.

¹ Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,

² Sing to him, sing praises to him. Talk of all his marvelous works.

¹² Then they believed his words. They sang his praise.

¹ And you will say in that day, I will give thanks to you, O Jehovah, for though you were angry with me. Your anger is turned away and you comfort me. ² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and will not be afraid, for Jehovah, even Jehovah, is my strength and song and he has become my salvation.

⁵ Sing to Jehovah, for he has done excellent things. Let this be known in all the earth.

¹³ Is anyone among you suffering evil treatment? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing-praise.

⁴⁵ And they journeyed from Iyim and encamped in Dibon-gad.
⁴⁶ And they journeyed from Dibon-gad and encamped in Almon-diblathaim.
⁴⁷ And they journeyed from Almon-diblathaim and encamped in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

³¹ But as for you, stand here by me and I will speak to you all the commandment and the statutes and the ordinances, which you will teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

⁴ Moses commanded for us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

⁷ Also in the third year of his reign he sent his rulers, even Ben-hail and Obadiah and Zechariah and Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; ⁸ and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah and Nethaniah and Zebadiah and Asahel and Shemiramoth and Jehonathan and Adonijah and Tobijah and Tob-adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
⁹ And they taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Jehovah with them. And they went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

¹ Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests and they built the sheep gate. They made it holy and set up the doors of it, even to the Tower of Hundred they made it holy, to the Tower of Hananel.

⁵ And next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their ranking men did not put their necks to the work of their lord.

²² For Jehovah is our judge. Jehovah is our lawgiver. Jehovah is our king, he will save us.

¹⁷ Because the law was given through Moses; the favor and the truth became through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Command the rich in this current age, not to be cavalier, nor to have hope on the uncertainty of riches, but have hope in the living God, who is richly providing to us all things toward enjoyment; ¹⁸ also command them to work what is good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in giving, generous,

¹² There is the one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judges the other?

¹ And the sons of Israel journeyed and encamped in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho.

¹⁴ And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah and built seven altars and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.

²⁸ And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down upon the desert.

⁶³ These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

⁴⁹ And they encamped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth even to Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.
⁵⁰ And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

⁵ Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying,

²⁷ You get up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward and behold with your eyes, for you will not go over this Jordan.

⁴⁹ and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even to the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.

¹ And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is opposite Jericho. And Jehovah showed him all the land of Gilead, to Dan,

¹⁴ And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the King of Edom, Thus says your brother Israel, You know all the travail that has befallen us, ¹⁵ how our fathers went down into Egypt and we dwelt in Egypt a long time. And the Egyptians dealt ill with us and our fathers. ¹⁶ And when we cried to Jehovah, he heard our voice and sent a messenger and brought us forth out of Egypt. And behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the outermost of your border. ¹⁷ I beseech you, let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells. We will go along the king's highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.
¹⁸ And Edom said to him, You will not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you. ¹⁹ And the sons of Israel said to him, We will go up by the highway. And if we drink of your water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price of it. Only let me, without doing anything, pass through on my feet.

²⁶ And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon King of Heshbon with words of peace, saying, ²⁷ Let me pass through your land. I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left. ²⁸ You will sell me food for money, that I may eat and give me water for money, that I may drink. Only let me pass through on my feet,

¹⁹ And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon. And Israel said to him, Please let us pass, through your land to my place. ²⁰ But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped in Jahaz and fought against Israel.
²¹ And Jehovah, the God of Israel, delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel and they killed* them. So Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.

¹⁷ I beseech you, let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells. We will go along the king's highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.

²¹ Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border. Therefore Israel turned away from him.

³⁰ But Sihon King of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for Jehovah your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as at this day. ³¹ And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before you. Begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.
³² Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.

⁷ And when you* came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle and we killed* them. ⁸ And we took their land and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.

²⁰ But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped in Jahaz and fought against Israel.

⁴ And Heshbon cries out and Elealeh. Their voice is heard even to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud. His soul trembles within him.

³⁴ From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For the waters of Nimrim also will become desolate.

²² And he rose up that night and took his two wives and his two handmaids and his eleven sons and passed over the ford of the Jabbok.

¹³ From there they journeyed and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites, for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

¹ Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle. And when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle, ² the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the rulers of the congregation, saying, ³ Ataroth and Dibon and Jazer and Nimrah and Heshbon and Elealeh and Sebam and Nebo and Beon, ⁴ the land which Jehovah killed* before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle and your servants have cattle.

³³ And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon King of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og King of Bashan, the land, according to the cities of it with their borders, even the cities of the land all around.
³⁴ And the sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer, ³⁵ and Atroth-shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah, ³⁶ and Beth-nimrah and Beth-haran: fortified cities and folds for sheep.
³⁷ And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kiriathaim, ³⁸ and Nebo and Baal-meon, (their names being changed,) and Sibmah. And they gave other names to the cities which they built.
³⁹ And the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it and dispossessed the Amorites that were in it. ⁴⁰ And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh and he dwelt in it. ⁴¹ And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the towns of it and called them Havvoth-jair. ⁴² And Nobah went and took Kenath and the villages of it and called it Nobah, after his own name.

³¹ And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before you. Begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.
³² Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz. ³³ And Jehovah our God delivered him up before us. And we killed* him and his sons and all his people. ³⁴ And we took all his cities at that time and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining.
³⁵ We only took the cattle for a prey to ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken. ³⁶ From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and from the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. Jehovah our God delivered up all before us.
³⁷ Only to the land of the sons of Ammon you did not come near, all the side of the river Jabbok and the cities of the hill-country and wherever Jehovah our God forbad us.

¹⁶ And I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites from Gilead even to the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley and the border of it, even to the brook of Jabbok, which is the border of the sons of Ammon,

⁷ And when you* came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle and we killed* them.

¹⁰ and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon and to Og king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth.

¹ Now these are the kings of the land, whom the sons of Israel killed* and possessed their land beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon and all the Arabah eastward:
² Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and ruled from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and the middle of the valley and half Gilead, even to the brook of Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon, ³ and the Arabah to the sea of Chinneroth, eastward and to the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, eastward, the way to Beth-jeshimoth and on the south, under the slopes of Pisgah,

⁸ With him the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of Jehovah gave them: ⁹ from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and the city that is in the middle of the valley and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon; ¹⁰ and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the sons of Ammon;

⁸ And I brought you* into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt beyond the Jordan. And they fought with you*. And I gave them into your* hand and you* possessed their land and I destroyed them from before you*.

²¹ And Jehovah, the God of Israel, delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel and they killed* them. So Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. ²² And they possessed all the border of the Amorites, from the Arnon even to the Jabbok and from the wilderness even to the Jordan.
²³ So now Jehovah, the God of Israel, has dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel and should you possess them?

¹ And the men of Ephraim were gathered together and passed northward. And they said to Jephthah, Why did you pass over to fight against the sons of Ammon and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house upon you with fire.
² And Jephthah said to them, I and my people were at great strife with the sons of Ammon and when I called you*, you* did not save me out of their hand.

⁸ And they said, Which one is there of the tribes of Israel that did not come up to Jehovah to Mizpah? And behold, there came none to the camp from Jabesh-gilead to the assembly.

²² Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted after their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon and the land of Og king of Bashan.

¹⁰ who killed* many nations and killed mighty kings– ¹¹ Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan and all the kingdoms of Canaan– ¹² and gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to Israel his people.

¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites, because his loving kindness is everlasting,

⁹ Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and he was strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.

³¹ Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

¹² The Horites also dwelt in Seir formerly, but the sons of Esau succeeded them. And they destroyed them from before them and dwelt in their stead, as Israel did to the land of his possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)

⁴ Your neck is like the tower of ivory. Your eyes, the pools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon which looks toward Damascus.

⁸ For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah. The lords of the nations have broken down the choice branches of it, which reached even to Jazer, which wandered into the wilderness. Its shoots were spread abroad. They passed over the sea.
⁹ Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah. I will water you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh. For upon your summer fruits and upon your harvest the battle shout has fallen.

² The praise of Moab is no more. In Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come and let us cut her off from being a nation. You also, O madmen, will be brought to silence. The sword will pursue you.

⁴⁵ Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon. For a fire has gone forth out of Heshbon and a flame from the midst of Sihon and has devoured the corner of Moab and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

⁴⁶ And your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters. And your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.

⁴⁹ Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters and she did not strengthen the hand of a poor and needy man.

⁵³ And I will turn back again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters and the captivity of your captives in the midst of them,

¹⁰ Also I brought you* up out of the land of Egypt and led you* forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

⁴ that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon and say, How has the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased

⁶ Shall not all these take up a parable against him and a taunting proverb against him and say, Woe to him who increases what is not his (how long?) and who loads himself with pledges!

¹⁵ and the slope of the valleys that inclines toward the dwelling of Ar and leans upon the border of Moab.

⁴¹ And it happened in the morning, that Balak took Balaam and brought him up into the high places of Baal and he saw from there the outmost part of the people.

²⁰ But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth-millo and devour Abimelech.

¹⁶ Therefore will the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, send among his fat ones, leanness and under his glory there will be kindled a burning like the burning of fire.

¹ The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. ² They have gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. On all their heads is baldness. Every beard is cut off.

⁴⁵ Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon. For a fire has gone forth out of Heshbon and a flame from the midst of Sihon and has devoured the corner of Moab and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone, for your sons are taken away captive and your daughters into captivity.

⁴ But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael and it will devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.

⁷ But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza and it will devour the palaces of it.

¹⁰ But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre and it will devour the palaces of it.

¹² But I will send a fire upon Teman and it will devour the palaces of Bozrah.

¹⁴ But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah and it will devour the palaces of it, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.

² But I will send a fire upon Moab and it will devour the palaces of Kerioth and Moab will die with tumult, with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

⁵ But I will send a fire upon Judah and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

²⁴ Will you not possess what Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whomever Jehovah our God has dispossessed from before us, them will we possess.

⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab on the mountain that is before Jerusalem and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

³³ because that they have forsaken me and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab and Milcom the god of the sons of Ammon. And they have not walked in my ways, to do what is right in my eyes and to keep my statutes and my ordinances as David his father did.

¹³ And the king defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mountain of corruption, which Solomon the King of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab and for Milcom the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

⁵ My heart cries out for Moab. Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For they go up with weeping by the ascent of Luhith. For they raise up a cry of destruction in the way of Horonaim.

⁷ For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also will be taken. And Chemosh will go forth into captivity, his priests and his rulers together.

¹³ And Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

⁴⁶ Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone, for your sons are taken away captive and your daughters into captivity.

⁴ Therefore concerning the food of idol-sacrifices, we know that an idol in the world is nothing and that there is no other God except one. ⁵ For if indeed there are so called gods, whether in heaven or upon the earth; just-like there are many such gods and many such lords,

²³ The archers embittered at him and shot at him and persecute him,

³ Ataroth and Dibon and Jazer and Nimrah and Heshbon and Elealeh and Sebam and Nebo and Beon,

³⁴ And the sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer,

¹⁷ Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon and Bamoth-baal and Beth-baal-meon,

²⁴ And the shooters shot at your servants from the wall. And some of the king's servants are dead and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

¹⁴ And he sent out his arrows and scattered them, Yes, lightnings shot out and confused them.

² They have gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. On all their heads is baldness. Every beard is cut off.

⁹ For the waters of Dimon are full of blood. For I will bring yet more upon Dimon, a lion upon those of Moab who escape and upon the remnant of the land.

¹⁸ O you daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory and sit in thirst, for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you. He has destroyed your strongholds.

²² and upon Dibon and upon Nebo and upon Beth-diblathaim,

¹⁶ And I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites from Gilead even to the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley and the border of it, even to the brook of Jabbok, which is the border of the sons of Ammon, ¹⁷ also the Arabah and the Jordan and the border of it, from Chinnereth even to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

¹ Now these are the kings of the land, whom the sons of Israel killed* and possessed their land beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon and all the Arabah eastward:
² Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and ruled from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and the middle of the valley and half Gilead, even to the brook of Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon, ³ and the Arabah to the sea of Chinneroth, eastward and to the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, eastward, the way to Beth-jeshimoth and on the south, under the slopes of Pisgah, ⁴ and the border of Og king of Bashan, of the remnant of the Rephaim, who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, ⁵ and ruled in Mount Hermon and in Salecah and in all Bashan, to the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.
⁶ Moses the servant of Jehovah and the sons of Israel killed* them. And Moses the servant of Jehovah gave it for a possession to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

⁸ With him the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of Jehovah gave them: ⁹ from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon and the city that is in the middle of the valley and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon; ¹⁰ and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the sons of Ammon; ¹¹ and Gilead and the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites and all Mount Hermon and all Bashan to Salecah; ¹² all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (what was left of the remnant of the Rephaim), for these Moses killed* and drove them out.

¹ Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle. And when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle,

³⁵ and Atroth-shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah,

³² With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, O vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen upon your summer fruits and upon your vintage.

³³ And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon King of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og King of Bashan, the land, according to the cities of it with their borders, even the cities of the land all around.

⁴ after he had struck Sihon the King of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and Og the King of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.

¹ Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. And Og the King of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. ² And Jehovah said to me, Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land, into your hand. And you will do to him as you did to Sihon King of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.
³ So Jehovah our God delivered into our hand Og also, the King of Bashan and all his people and we killed* him until none was left to him remaining. ⁴ And we took all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ⁵ All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates and bars; besides the un-walled towns a great many. ⁶ And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon King of Heshbon, utterly destroying every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones.

⁴⁷ And they took his land in possession and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise,

¹⁴ butter of the herd and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs and rams of the breed of Bashan and goats, with the finest of the wheat and of the blood of the grape you drank wine.

⁴ and the border of Og king of Bashan, of the remnant of the Rephaim, who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

¹² all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (what was left of the remnant of the Rephaim), for these Moses killed* and drove them out.

³⁰ And their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities.

¹² Many bulls have encompassed me. Strong bulls of Bashan have beset me around.

¹⁵ A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; a high mountain is the mountain of Bashan.

⁹ The land mourns and languishes. Lebanon is confounded and withers away. Sharon is like a desert and Bashan and Carmel shake off their leaves.

⁶ Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars. They have made your benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim.

¹⁸ You* will eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the rulers of the earth, of rams, of lambs and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatten sheep of Bashan.

¹ Hear this word, you* cows of Bashan, who are in the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their lords, Bring and let us drink.

⁹ Only do not rebel against Jehovah, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them and Jehovah is with us. Fear them not.

²⁴ And Israel killed* him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the sons of Ammon, for the border of the sons of Ammon was strong. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities. And Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all the towns of it.

² And Jehovah said to me, Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land, into your hand. And you will do to him as you did to Sihon King of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.
³ So Jehovah our God delivered into our hand Og also, the King of Bashan and all his people and we killed* him until none was left to him remaining.

¹¹ (For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his couch was a couch of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon? Nine cubits was the length of it and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.)

²⁴ And he will deliver their kings into your hand and you will make their name to perish from under heaven. There will no man be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.

³ and will say to them, Hear, O Israel, you* draw near this day to battle against your* enemies. Do not let your* heart faint. Do not fear, nor tremble, neither be you* frightened at them.

⁶ Be strong and of good courage, do not fear, nor be frightened at them, for Jehovah your God, he it is who goes with you. He will not leave you, nor forsake you.

⁷ And you* will rise up from the ambush and take possession of the city, for Jehovah your* God will deliver it into your* hand.

⁸ And Jehovah said to Joshua, Fear them not, for I have delivered them into your hands. There will not a man of them stand before you.

²⁵ And Joshua said to them, Do not fear, nor be dismayed. Be strong and of good courage, for thus will Jehovah do to all your* enemies against whom you* fight.

⁴ Then David inquired of Jehovah yet again. And Jehovah answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.

¹⁹ And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said to David, Go up, for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.

¹³ And behold, a prophet came near to Ahab King of Israel and said, Jehovah says thus, Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day and you will know that I am Jehovah.

²⁸ And a man of God came near and spoke to the King of Israel and said, Jehovah says thus, Because the Syrians have said, Jehovah is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys, therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand and you* will know that I am Jehovah.

¹⁸ And this is but a light thing in the sight of Jehovah. He will also deliver the Moabites into your* hand.

¹⁰ who killed* many nations and killed mighty kings– ¹¹ Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan and all the kingdoms of Canaan–

¹³ For I, Jehovah your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, Do not fear, I will help you.

³ So Jehovah our God delivered into our hand Og also, the King of Bashan and all his people and we killed* him until none was left to him remaining. ⁴ And we took all his cities at that time. ⁸ And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon ⁹ (the Sidonians call Hermon, Sirion and the Amorites call it Senir), ¹⁰ all the cities of the plain and all Gilead and all Bashan, to Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ¹¹ (For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his couch was a couch of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon? Nine cubits was the length of it and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.) ¹² And we took this land in possession at that time. From Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities of it, I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
¹³ And the rest of Gilead and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh, all the region of Argob, even all Bashan. The same is called the land of Rephaim. ¹⁴ (Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, to the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, to this day.) ¹⁵ And I gave Gilead to Machir.

¹⁷ to him who killed* great kings, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁸ and killed famous kings, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²⁰ and Og king of Bashan, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²¹ and gave their land for a heritage, because his loving kindness is everlasting,

³⁷ But we are victorious in all these things through the one who loved us.
