²³ A poor man uses entreaties, but a rich man answers roughly.

⁷ And Joseph saw his brothers and he knew them, but made himself foreign to them and spoke roughly with them. And he said to them. From where do you* come? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

³⁰ The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us and took us for spies of the country.

² And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I do not know Jehovah and moreover I will not let Israel go.

⁷ And she said, Let me glean, I beseech you* and gather behind the reapers among the sheaves. So she came and has continued even from the morning until now, except that she stayed a little in the house.

³⁶ And it will happen, that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread and will say, I beseech you, put me into one of the priests' offices that I may eat a morsel of bread.

¹⁰ And Nabal answered David's servants and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants now-a-days who break away every man from his master.

¹⁷ Now therefore know and consider what you will do, for evil is determined against our master and against all his house. For he is such a worthless fellow that a man cannot speak to him.

¹ Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead and you know that your servant feared Jehovah and the creditor has come to take my two children to him to be bondmen.
² And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you in the house? And she said, Your handmaid has not anything in the house except a pot of oil.

² For all these things my hand has made and all these things came to be, says Jehovah.
But to this man I will look, even to him who is poor and of a crushed spirit and who trembles at my word.

³ The poor in spirit are fortunate, because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

⁹ But let the humble brother boast in his elevation, ¹⁰ but the rich brother in his humbleness, because like the flower of the grass, he will be passing away. ¹¹ For the sun has risen together with the burning heat, and dried up the grass, and its flower fell and the beauty of its face perished. So shall the rich man also fade away in his pursuits.

³ you may have looked upon the one who is wearing the bright apparel and may have said to him, Sit here; good; and you may have said to the poor person, Stand there or sit here under my footstool.

⁶ But you have dishonored the poor. Are the rich not oppressing you? And are they themselves not dragging you into the courts?
