³ And locusts came forth out of the smoke upon the earth, and authority was given to them, like the scorpions of the earth have authority.

⁴ Else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your border.
⁵ And they will cover the face of the earth, so that no man is able to see the ground. And they will eat the residue of what has escaped, which remains to you* from the hail and will eat every tree which grows for you* out of the field.
⁶ And your houses will be filled and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth to this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve Jehovah their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?
⁸ And Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh. And he said to them, Go, serve Jehovah your* God, but who are those who will go? ⁹ And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go, because we must hold a feast to Jehovah. ¹⁰ And he said to them, So be Jehovah with you*, as I will let you* go and your* little ones–Look, evil is before you*. ¹¹ Not so. Go now who are men and serve Jehovah, becausethat is what you* desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
¹² And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left. ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt and Jehovah brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all the night and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
¹⁴ And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested in all the borders of Egypt, very grievous were they, before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them will be such. ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole ground, so that the land was darkened and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. And there remained not any green thing, either tree nor herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

¹⁵ who led you through the great and terrible wilderness–fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where was no water–who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint,

¹² And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the sons of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude and their camels were without number, as the sand which is upon the sea-shore for multitude.

¹¹ And now in what my father burdened you* with a heavy yoke, I will add to your* yoke. My father disciplined you* with whips, but I will chastise you* with scorpions.

⁴ And your* spoil will be gathered as the caterpillar gathers. As locusts leap, men will leap upon it.

⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

⁴ What the palmer-worm has left the locust has eaten and what the locust has left the canker-worm has eaten and what the canker-worm has left the caterpillar has eaten.

²⁵ And I will restore to you* the years that the locust, the canker-worm and the caterpillar and the palmer-worm has eaten–my great army which I sent among you*.

¹⁵ There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the canker-worm. Make yourself many as the canker-worm. Make yourself many as the locust.

¹⁷ Your rulers are as the locusts and your marshals as the swarms of grasshoppers, which encamp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun arises they flee away and their place is not known where they are.

¹⁹ Behold, I am giving you authority to trample down serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and you may never be hurt by anything.

⁵ And it was given to them in order that they should not kill them, but in order that they should be tormented five months and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, whenever it strikes a man.

¹⁰ And they have tails similar to scorpions and stings, and they have their authority in their tails to hurt the men for five months. ¹¹ They have the messenger of the abyss as king over them. His name in Hebrew is Abbadon but in the Greek language he has the name Apollyon.
