²¹ Look! The hand of My betrayer is with Mine on the table.

¹⁹ All my best friends despise me, and those I love have turned against me.

⁹ Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

⁵ Do not rely on a friend; do not trust in a companion. Seal the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms. ⁶ For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own household.

²¹ And while they were eating, He said to them, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray Me.” ²² They were deeply grieved and began to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?” ²³ Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with Me will betray Me. ²⁴ The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

¹⁸ And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating with Me will betray Me.” ¹⁹ They began to be grieved and to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I?” And another said, “Is it I?” ²⁰ He answered, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is dipping his hand into the bowl with Me. ²¹ The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

¹⁸ I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who shares bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ ¹⁹ I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it comes to pass, you will believe that I am He.

²¹ After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit and testified, “Truly, truly, I tell you, one of you will betray Me.” ²² The disciples looked at one another, perplexed as to which of them He meant.

²⁶ Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this morsel after I have dipped it.” Then He dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
