¹¹ So Moses asked the LORD, “Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid upon me the burden of all these people?

²² So Moses returned to the LORD and asked, “Lord, why have You brought trouble upon this people? Is this why You sent me?

⁴ Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do with these people? A little more and they will stone me!”

¹⁵ If this is how You are going to treat me, please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own wretchedness.”

¹² But how can I bear your troubles, burdens, and disputes all by myself?

² I will say to God: Do not condemn me! Let me know why You prosecute me.

³ If You, O LORD, kept track of iniquities, then who, O Lord, could stand?

² Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous before You.

¹⁰ Woe to me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife and conflict in all the land. I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me.

¹⁸ Why is my pain unending, and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You have indeed become like a mirage to me—water that is not there.

⁷ You have deceived me, O LORD, and I was deceived. You have overcome me and prevailed. I am a laughingstock all day long; everyone mocks me. ⁸ For whenever I speak, I cry out; I proclaim violence and destruction. For the word of the LORD has become to me a reproach and derision all day long. ⁹ If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.

¹⁴ Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me never be blessed. ¹⁵ Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, saying, “A son is born to you,” bringing him great joy. ¹⁶ May that man be like the cities that the LORD overthrew without compassion. May he hear an outcry in the morning and a battle cry at noon, ¹⁷ because he did not kill me in the womb so that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb forever enlarged. ¹⁸ Why did I come out of the womb to see only trouble and sorrow, and to end my days in shame?

²² Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. ²³ They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!

³⁹ Why should any mortal man complain, in view of his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us examine and test our ways, and turn back to the LORD.

¹⁴ You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What have we gained by keeping His requirements and walking mournfully before the LORD of Hosts?

²⁸ Apart from these external trials, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.
