⁷ I am in favor of peace; but when I speak, they want war.

⁹ and said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Look, David intends to harm you’? ¹⁰ Behold, this day you have seen with your own eyes that the LORD delivered you into my hand in the cave. I was told to kill you, but I spared you and said, ‘I will not lift my hand against my lord, since he is the LORD’s anointed.’ ¹¹ See, my father, look at the corner of your robe in my hand. For I cut it off, but I did not kill you. See and know that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands. I have not sinned against you, even though you are hunting me down to take my life.

² So Saul, accompanied by three thousand chosen men of Israel, went down to the Wilderness of Ziph to search for David there. ³ Saul camped beside the road at the hill of Hachilah opposite Jeshimon, but David was living in the wilderness. When he realized that Saul had followed him there, ⁴ David sent out spies to verify that Saul had arrived.

¹⁹ I am among the peaceable and faithful in Israel, but you are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the LORD’s inheritance?”

¹⁴ Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land.

²⁰ My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant.

⁴ In return for my love they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

¹⁸ If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.

¹⁴ For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility ¹⁵ by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace ¹⁶ and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He extinguished their hostility. ¹⁷ He came and preached peace to you who were far away and to those who were near.

¹⁴ Pursue peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.
