² in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.

¹ A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers,

² How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my enemy dominate me? ³ Consider me and respond, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death, ⁴ lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes rejoice when I fall.

² The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

¹ For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Doe of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from my words of groaning?

⁵ They cried out to You and were set free; they trusted in You and were not disappointed.

⁸ “He trusts in the LORD, let the LORD deliver him; let the LORD rescue him, since He delights in him.”

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; save me by Your righteousness.

⁸ Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

¹⁹ Let not my enemies gloat over me without cause, nor those who hate me without reason wink in malice. ²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful schemes against those who live quietly in the land. ²¹ They gape at me and say, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen!” ²² O LORD, You have seen it; be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me. ²³ Awake and rise to my defense, to my cause, my God and my Lord! ²⁴ Vindicate me by Your righteousness, O LORD my God, and do not let them gloat over me. ²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, just what we wanted!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up!”

⁴⁰ The LORD helps and delivers them; He rescues and saves them from the wicked, because they take refuge in Him.

¹¹ By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

¹ For the choirmaster. To the tune of “A Dove on Distant Oaks.” A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be merciful to me, O God, for men are hounding me; all day they press their attack.

¹ In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.

³ How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked exult?

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am brought quite low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.

³ You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.

¹⁶ So this is what the Lord GOD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken.

¹⁴ This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he cannot deliver you. ¹⁵ Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’ ¹⁶ Do not listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern, ¹⁷ until I come and take you away to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards. ¹⁸ Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand? ²⁰ Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”

¹⁰ “Give this message to Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

²⁰ And now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”

³⁵ ‘I will defend this city and save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.’”

¹⁶ You will winnow them, and a wind will carry them away; a gale will scatter them. But you will rejoice in the LORD; you will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

²³ Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow to you facedown and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”

⁵ And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

¹¹ It is just as the Scripture says: “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

⁶ For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”
