⁸ O LORD, I love the house where You dwell, the place where Your glory resides.

²¹ Set the mercy seat atop the ark, and put the Testimony that I will give you into the ark. ²² And I will meet with you there above the mercy seat, between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the Testimony; I will speak with you about all that I command you regarding the Israelites.

³⁴ Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ Moses was unable to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

²⁵ Then the king said to Zadok, “Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, He will bring me back and let me see both it and His dwelling place again.

³ Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:

¹⁴ so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.

⁴ One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple. ⁵ For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high upon a rock. ⁶ Then my head will be held high above my enemies around me. At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

⁴ These things come to mind as I pour out my soul: how I walked with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God with shouts of joy and praise.

² So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory. ³ Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You.

¹ For the choirmaster. According to Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of Hosts! ² My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

¹⁰ For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” ² Our feet are standing in your gates, O Jerusalem. ³ Jerusalem is built up as a city united together, ⁴ where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.

⁹ For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.

²⁰ The LORD will save me; we will play songs on stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the house of the LORD.

²² And Hezekiah had asked, “What will be the sign that I will go up to the house of the LORD?”

⁴⁶ Finally, after three days they found Him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

⁴⁹ “Why were you looking for Me?” He asked. “Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”

⁴⁵ Then Jesus entered the temple courts and began to drive out those who were selling and buying there. ⁴⁶ He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house is a house of prayer.’ But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” ⁴⁷ Jesus was teaching at the temple every day, but the chief priests, scribes, and leaders of the people were intent on killing Him.

¹⁴ In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables. ¹⁵ So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. ¹⁶ To those selling doves He said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn My Father’s house into a marketplace!” ¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”
