⁵ Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. No king of Judah was like him, either before him or after him.

²⁰ And because they cried out to God in battle, they were helped against their enemies, and the Hagrites and all their allies were delivered into their hands. Because they put their trust in God, He answered their prayers.

⁵ They cried out to You and were set free; they trusted in You and were not disappointed.

² in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me. ³ Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced.

¹ A song of ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion. It cannot be moved; it abides forever.

⁵ Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

¹⁷ But Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; you will not be put to shame or humiliated, to ages everlasting.

¹⁸ Let my persecutors be put to shame, but do not let me be put to shame. Let them be terrified, but do not let me be terrified. Bring upon them the day of disaster and shatter them with double destruction.

³³ as it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

⁶ For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”

¹⁷ You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear, ¹⁸ to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more.

² May my vindication come from Your presence; may Your eyes see what is right.

⁶ I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.

¹ Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; deliver me from deceitful and unjust men.

¹ I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice—my appeal for mercy. ² Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.

¹ A Psalm of David. O LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness, give ear to my plea; in Your righteousness, answer me.

¹¹ For the sake of Your name, O LORD, revive me. In Your righteousness, bring my soul out of trouble.

¹⁶ O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.

¹³ No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

²⁷ The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He drives out the enemy before you, giving the command, ‘Destroy him!’

² The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

⁸ The LORD decrees His loving devotion by day, and at night His song is with me as a prayer to the God of my life.

⁴ You are my King, O God, who ordains victories for Jacob.

²⁸ Summon Your power, O God; show Your strength, O God, which You have exerted on our behalf.

¹ A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations.

¹ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say to the LORD, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

⁹ Because you have made the LORD your dwelling—my refuge, the Most High—

¹¹ For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. ¹² They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

² He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

¹⁶ he will dwell on the heights; the mountain fortress will be his refuge; his food will be provided and his water assured.

⁶ Slaughter the old men, the young men and maidens, the women and children; but do not go near anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple.

² And I saw another angel ascending from the east, with the seal of the living God. And he called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: ³ “Do not harm the land or sea or trees until we have sealed the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

²¹ Ahithophel replied, “Sleep with your father’s concubines, whom he has left to keep the palace. When all Israel hears that you have become a stench to your father, then the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.” ²² So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.

¹ Furthermore, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David. ² I will attack him while he is weak and weary; I will throw him into a panic, and all the people with him will flee; I will strike down only the king

¹² Then we will attack David wherever we find him, and we will descend on him like dew on the ground. And of all the men with him, not even one will remain. ¹³ If he retreats to a city, all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we will drag it down to the valley until not even a pebble can be found.” ¹⁴ Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than that of Ahithophel.” For the LORD had purposed to thwart the good counsel of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.

²¹ After the men had gone, Ahimaaz and Jonathan climbed up out of the well and went to inform King David, saying, “Get up and cross over the river at once, for Ahithophel has given this advice against you.”

⁸ Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings ⁹ from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.

¹³ Arise, O LORD, confront them! Bring them to their knees; deliver me from the wicked by Your sword,

¹ For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David, when Saul sent men to watch David’s house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise against me. ² Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of bloodshed.

Protect me from men of violence, ² who devise evil in their hearts and stir up war all day long. ³ They sharpen their tongues like snakes; the venom of vipers is on their lips. Selah ⁴ Guard me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked. Keep me safe from men of violence who scheme to make me stumble.

¹³ So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward. Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.

³³ But Saul replied, “You cannot go out against this Philistine to fight him. You are just a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” ³⁴ David replied, “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep, and whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from the flock, ³⁵ I went after it, struck it down, and delivered the lamb from its mouth. If it reared up against me, I would grab it by its fur, strike it down, and kill it. ³⁶ Your servant has killed lions and bears; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” ³⁷ David added, “The LORD, who delivered me from the claws of the lion and the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” “Go,” said Saul, “and may the LORD be with you.”

⁴⁵ But David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. ⁴⁶ This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will strike you down, cut off your head, and give the carcasses of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. ⁴⁷ And all those assembled here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.”

⁵ But I have trusted in Your loving devotion; my heart will rejoice in Your salvation.

⁹ Yet You brought me forth from the womb; You made me secure at my mother’s breast. ¹⁰ From birth I was cast upon You; from my mother’s womb You have been my God.

⁷ And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You.

¹¹ Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

¹⁷ O God, You have taught me from my youth, and to this day I proclaim Your marvelous deeds.

⁸¹ My soul faints for Your salvation; I wait for Your word.

¹⁶⁶ I wait for Your salvation, O LORD, and I carry out Your commandments.

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of adversity come and the years approach of which you will say, “I find no pleasure in them,”

⁸ O Hope of Israel, its Savior in times of distress, why are You like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who stays but a night?

⁷ But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him.

¹³ O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who abandon You will be put to shame. All who turn away will be written in the dust, for they have abandoned the LORD, the fountain of living water.

¹⁷ Do not become a terror to me; You are my refuge in the day of disaster.

⁷ All who found them devoured them, and their enemies said, ‘We are not guilty, for they have sinned against the LORD, their true pasture, the LORD, the hope of their fathers.’

⁴⁰ And the Child grew and became strong in spirit. He was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him.

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

¹ Of David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, so that the king drove him away. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.

¹⁵ My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. ¹⁶ Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be.

¹ A Psalm of praise. Of David. I will exalt You, my God and King; I will bless Your name forever and ever. ² Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.

¹⁷ I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me.

³ “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the womb, carried along since birth. ⁴ Even to your old age, I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you.

¹ Listen to Me, O islands; pay attention, O distant peoples: The LORD called Me from the womb; from the body of My mother He named Me.

⁵ And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be gathered to Him—for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—

⁵ “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

⁴ Have you not just called to Me, ‘My Father, You are my friend from youth.

³¹ Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. ³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,

¹⁵ But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased

²⁰ always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

³ For You have been my refuge, a tower of strength against the enemy.

⁷ My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God.

⁴ Look to my right and see; no one attends to me. There is no refuge for me; no one cares for my soul. ⁵ I cry to You, O LORD: “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

¹⁸ Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me as signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of distress, the nations will come to You from the ends of the earth, and they will say, “Our fathers inherited nothing but lies, worthless idols of no benefit at all.

⁶ Then the angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua:

³⁴ Then Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary: “Behold, this Child is appointed to cause the rise and fall of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,

¹³ When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they marveled and took note that these men had been with Jesus.

⁹ For it seems to me that God has displayed us apostles at the end of the procession, like prisoners appointed for death. We have become a spectacle to the whole world, to angels as well as to men.

²⁸ Then my tongue will proclaim Your righteousness and Your praises all day long.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness. ¹⁵ O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise.

⁵ My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.

⁶ Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty fill His sanctuary.

¹ Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty.

² I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

³⁵ I am now eighty years old. Can I discern what is good and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or drinks? Can I still hear the voice of singing men and women? Why should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

¹⁵ Once again the Philistines waged war against Israel, and David and his servants went down and fought against the Philistines; but David became exhausted. ¹⁶ Then Ishbi-benob, a descendant of Rapha, whose bronze spear weighed three hundred shekels and who was bearing a new sword, resolved to kill David. ¹⁷ But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to his aid, struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, “You must never again go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel may not be extinguished.”

¹⁸ Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.

²⁶ My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

¹⁰ The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong—yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

¹³ Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. ¹⁴ In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain, ¹⁵ to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.”

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of adversity come and the years approach of which you will say, “I find no pleasure in them,” ² before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is darkened, and the clouds return after the rain, ³ on the day the keepers of the house tremble and the strong men stoop, when those grinding cease because they are few and those watching through windows see dimly, ⁴ when the doors to the street are shut and the sound of the mill fades away, when one rises at the sound of a bird and all the daughters of song grow faint, ⁵ when men fear the heights and dangers of the road, when the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper loses its spring, and the caper berry shrivels—for then man goes to his eternal home and mourners walk the streets. ⁶ Remember Him before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is crushed, before the pitcher is shattered at the spring and the wheel is broken at the well, ⁷ before the dust returns to the ground from which it came and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁴ Even to your old age, I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you.

¹² For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.

¹⁸ And the Lord will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

¹¹ Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and kill him in the morning. But David’s wife Michal warned him, “If you do not run for your life tonight, tomorrow you will be dead!”

¹ Furthermore, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David. ² I will attack him while he is weak and weary; I will throw him into a panic, and all the people with him will flee; I will strike down only the king ³ and bring all the people back to you as a bride returning to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be at peace.” ⁴ This proposal seemed good to Absalom and all the elders of Israel. ⁵ Then Absalom said, “Summon Hushai the Archite as well, and let us hear what he too has to say.” ⁶ So Hushai came to Absalom, who told him, “Ahithophel has spoken this proposal. Should we carry it out? If not, what do you say?” ⁷ Hushai replied, “This time the advice of Ahithophel is not sound.” ⁸ He continued, “You know your father and his men. They are mighty men, and as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. Moreover, your father is a man of war who will not spend the night with the troops. ⁹ Surely by now he is hiding in a cave or some other location. If some of your troops fall first, whoever hears of it will say, ‘There has been a slaughter among the troops who follow Absalom.’ ¹⁰ Then even the most valiant soldier with the heart of a lion will melt with fear, because all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man who has valiant men with him. ¹¹ Instead, I advise that all Israel from Dan to Beersheba—a multitude like the sand on the seashore—be gathered to you, and that you yourself lead them into battle.

² The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against His Anointed One:

⁹ He lies in wait like a lion in a thicket; he lurks to seize the oppressed; he catches the lowly in his net.

¹³ For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side. They conspire against me and plot to take my life.

³² Though the wicked lie in wait for the righteous, and seek to slay them, ³³ the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned under judgment.

⁶ They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.

³ With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish,

¹¹ If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,

¹⁰ For I have heard the whispering of many: “Terror is on every side! Report him; let us report him!” All my trusted friends watch for my fall: “Perhaps he will be deceived so that we may prevail against him and take our vengeance upon him.”

³ At that time the chief priests, scribes, and elders of the people assembled in the courtyard of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, ⁴ and they conspired to arrest Jesus covertly and kill Him.

¹ When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people conspired against Jesus to put Him to death.

¹³ Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have the gods of these nations ever been able to deliver their land from my hand? ¹⁴ Who among all the gods of these nations that my fathers devoted to destruction has been able to deliver his people from my hand? How then can your God deliver you from my hand?

² or they will shred my soul like a lion and tear me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

²⁵ I once was young and now am old, yet never have I seen the righteous abandoned or their children begging for bread.

²⁸ For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake His saints. They are preserved forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off.

⁷ All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me: ⁸ “A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”

¹⁰ Like the crushing of my bones, my enemies taunt me, while they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

²² Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:

¹⁵ Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”

⁴² “He saved others, but He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him. ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver Him now if He wants Him. For He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

⁴⁶ About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

⁴⁹ But the others said, “Leave Him alone. Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him.”

¹ Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

¹¹ Be not far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.

¹⁹ But You, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.

²² O LORD, You have seen it; be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me.

² In each of the provinces of King Xerxes, the Jews assembled in their cities to attack those who sought to harm them. No man could withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen upon all peoples.

¹⁰ All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.

⁴ May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plan to harm me be driven back and confounded.

²⁶ May those who gloat in my distress be ashamed and confounded; may those who exalt themselves over me be clothed in shame and reproach.

¹⁴ May those who seek my life be ashamed and confounded; may those who wish me harm be repelled and humiliated. ¹⁵ May those who say to me, “Aha, aha!” be appalled at their own shame.

²⁹ May my accusers be clothed with disgrace; may they wear their shame like a robe.

¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”

¹¹ Behold, all who rage against you will be ashamed and disgraced; those who contend with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me like a fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be utterly put to shame, with an everlasting disgrace that will never be forgotten.

⁵ Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility, being subject to one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

¹⁵ Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. I will still defend my ways to His face.

⁵ Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

⁶ I have leaned on You since birth; You pulled me from my mother’s womb. My praise is always for You.

⁷ O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is loving devotion, and with Him is redemption in abundance.

²¹ Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope:

²⁶ It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

⁹ And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,

¹⁰ And you are indeed showing this love to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to excel more and more

³⁵ So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward.

¹³ Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

³ And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure.

²² I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; I will praise You in the assembly. ²³ You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All descendants of Jacob, honor Him! All offspring of Israel, revere Him! ²⁴ For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He has not hidden His face from him, but has attended to his cry for help. ²⁵ My praise for You resounds in the great assembly; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear You.

¹² that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks forever.

⁵ Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare to You—if I proclaim and declare them, they are more than I can count.

⁹ I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; behold, I do not seal my lips, as You, O LORD, do know. ¹⁰ I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly.

¹² For evils without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed within me.

⁸ My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your splendor all day long.

¹⁶ They rejoice in Your name all day long, and in Your righteousness they exult.

¹⁷ How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! ¹⁸ If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You.

² Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.

⁵ the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And I will meditate on Your wondrous works. ⁶ They will proclaim the power of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness. ⁷ They will extol the fame of Your abundant goodness and sing joyfully of Your righteousness. ⁸ The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion. ⁹ The LORD is good to all; His compassion rests on all He has made. ¹⁰ All You have made will give You thanks, O LORD, and Your saints will bless You. ¹¹ They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might, ¹² to make known to men Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. ¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful in all His words and kind in all His actions. ¹⁴ The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

²⁵ May the bolts of your gate be iron and bronze, and may your strength match your days.”

¹¹ The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.

¹⁴ Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness.

² In Your justice, rescue and deliver me; incline Your ear and save me.

¹⁹ Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You?

² Who can describe the mighty acts of the LORD or fully proclaim His praise?

¹³ O LORD our God, other lords besides You have had dominion, but Your name alone do we confess.

³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

²⁴ Surely they will say of Me, ‘In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.’” All who rage against Him will come to Him and be put to shame. ²⁵ In the LORD all descendants of Israel will be justified and will exult.

⁷ I will make known the LORD’s loving devotion and His praiseworthy acts, because of all that the LORD has done for us—the many good things for the house of Israel according to His great compassion and loving devotion.

¹² I will strengthen them in the LORD, and in His name they will walk,” declares the LORD.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

¹⁷ For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

²¹ But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as attested by the Law and the Prophets.

³ Because they were ignorant of God’s righteousness and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

¹⁶ I ask that out of the riches of His glory He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being,

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

⁶ After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

¹ You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

⁵ See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.

⁹ But David answered Rechab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress,

¹ And David sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. ² He said: “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. My stronghold, my refuge, and my Savior, You save me from violence. ⁴ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁵ For the waves of death engulfed me; the torrents of chaos overwhelmed me. ⁶ The cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. ⁷ In my distress I called upon the LORD; I cried out to my God. And from His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for help reached His ears. ⁸ Then the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of the heavens trembled; they were shaken because He burned with anger. ⁹ Smoke rose from His nostrils, and consuming fire came from His mouth; glowing coals blazed forth. ¹⁰ He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet. ¹¹ He mounted a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind. ¹² He made darkness a canopy around Him, a gathering of water and thick clouds. ¹³ From the brightness of His presence coals of fire blazed forth. ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded. ¹⁵ He shot His arrows and scattered the foes; He hurled lightning and routed them. ¹⁶ The channels of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the world were exposed at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils. ¹⁷ He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. ¹⁸ He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from foes too mighty for me. ¹⁹ They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the LORD was my support. ²⁰ He brought me out into the open; He rescued me because He delighted in me. ²¹ The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; He has repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes. ²⁴ And I have been blameless before Him and kept myself from iniquity. ²⁵ So the LORD has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in His sight. ²⁶ To the faithful You show Yourself faithful, to the blameless You show Yourself blameless; ²⁷ to the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the crooked You show Yourself shrewd. ²⁸ You save an afflicted people, but Your eyes are on the haughty to bring them down. ²⁹ For You, O LORD, are my lamp; the LORD lights up my darkness. ³⁰ For in You I can charge an army; with my God I can scale a wall. ³¹ As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. ³² For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? ³³ God is my strong fortress and He makes my way clear. ³⁴ He makes my feet like those of a deer and stations me upon the heights. ³⁵ He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ³⁶ You have given me Your shield of salvation, and Your gentleness exalts me. ³⁷ You broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do not give way. ³⁸ I pursued my enemies and destroyed them; I did not turn back until they were consumed. ³⁹ I devoured and crushed them so they could not rise; they have fallen under my feet. ⁴⁰ You have armed me with strength for battle; You have subdued my foes beneath me. ⁴¹ You have made my enemies retreat before me; I put an end to those who hated me. ⁴² They looked, but there was no one to save them—to the LORD, but He did not answer. ⁴³ I ground them as the dust of the earth; I crushed and trampled them like mud in the streets. ⁴⁴ You have delivered me from the strife of my people; You have preserved me as the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me. ⁴⁵ Foreigners cower before me; when they hear me, they obey me. ⁴⁶ Foreigners lose heart and come trembling from their strongholds. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives, and blessed be my Rock! And may God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted— ⁴⁸ the God who avenges me and brings down nations beneath me, ⁴⁹ who frees me from my enemies. You exalt me above my foes; You rescue me from violent men. ⁵⁰ Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name. ⁵¹ Great salvation He brings to His king. He shows loving devotion to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever.”

⁴ David appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel. ⁵ Asaph was the chief, Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They were to play the harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals ⁶ and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel blew the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. ⁷ On that day David first committed to Asaph and his brothers this song of thanksgiving to the LORD: ⁸ “Give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations. ⁹ Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders. ¹⁰ Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. ¹¹ Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always. ¹² Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced, ¹³ O offspring of His servant Israel, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones. ¹⁴ He is the LORD our God; His judgments carry throughout the earth. ¹⁵ Remember His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations— ¹⁶ the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac. ¹⁷ He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: ¹⁸ ‘I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.’ ¹⁹ When they were few in number, few indeed, and strangers in the land, ²⁰ they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. ²¹ He let no man oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf: ²² ‘Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!’ ²³ Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Proclaim His salvation day after day. ²⁴ Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples. ²⁵ For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. ²⁶ For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens. ²⁷ Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy fill His dwelling. ²⁸ Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. ²⁹ Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; ³⁰ tremble before Him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. ³¹ Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice. Let them say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns!’ ³² Let the sea resound, and all that fills it; let the fields exult, and all that is in them. ³³ Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth. ³⁴ Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. ³⁵ Then cry out: ‘Save us, O God of our salvation; gather and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.’ ³⁶ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”

⁷ to raise my voice in thanksgiving and declare all Your wonderful works.

¹⁶ Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for me.

⁵ For You are my hope, O Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.

⁹ How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word.

¹⁰² I have not departed from Your ordinances, for You Yourself have taught me.

¹ When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” Esau replied.

⁸ And on that day you are to explain to your son, ‘This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

¹⁴ In the future, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you are to tell him, ‘With a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ¹⁵ And when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of man and beast. This is why I sacrifice to the LORD the firstborn male of every womb, but I redeem all the firstborn of my sons.’ ¹⁶ So it shall serve as a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt.” ¹⁷ When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, though it was shorter. For God said, “If the people face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”

¹⁵ Now Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his gaze was fixed because he could not see.

¹⁸ As soon as the ark of God was mentioned, Eli fell backward from his chair by the city gate, and being old and heavy, he broke his neck and died. And Eli had judged Israel forty years.

¹⁰ Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly and said: “May You be blessed, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. ¹¹ Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all. ¹² Both riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler over all. In Your hands are power and might to exalt and give strength to all. ¹³ Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks, and we praise Your glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You. ¹⁵ For we are foreigners and strangers in Your presence, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. ¹⁶ O LORD our God, from Your hand comes all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of it belongs to You. ¹⁷ I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving joyfully and willingly to You. ¹⁸ O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep this desire forever in the intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts toward You. ¹⁹ And give my son Solomon a whole heart to keep and carry out all Your commandments, decrees, and statutes, and to build Your palace for which I have made provision.” ²⁰ Then David said to the whole assembly, “Blessed be the LORD your God.” So the whole assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers. They bowed down and paid homage to the LORD and to the king. ²¹ The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. ²² That day they ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king, anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as the priest. ²³ So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ All the officials and mighty men, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon. ²⁵ The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal majesty such as had not been bestowed on any king in Israel before him. ²⁶ David son of Jesse was king over all Israel. ²⁷ The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. ²⁸ He died at a ripe old age, full of years, riches, and honor, and his son Solomon reigned in his place. ²⁹ Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are indeed written in the Chronicles of Samuel the Seer, the Chronicles of Nathan the Prophet, and the Chronicles of Gad the Seer, ³⁰ together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.

³¹ They will come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn—all that He has done.

⁹ Do not discard me in my old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.

⁴ We will not hide them from their children, but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might, and the wonders He has performed.

⁶ that the coming generation would know them—even children yet to be born—to arise and tell their own children

⁴ One generation will commend Your works to the next, and will proclaim Your mighty acts— ⁵ the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And I will meditate on Your wondrous works.

⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD. Wake up as in days past, as in generations of old. Was it not You who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced through the dragon?

¹ Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

³⁶ For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. His body was buried with his fathers and saw decay.

¹¹ Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You—majestic in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?

⁹ the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.

¹⁰ All my bones will exclaim, “Who is like You, O LORD, who delivers the afflicted from the aggressor, the poor and needy from the robber?”

⁵ Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds. ⁶ Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments are like the deepest sea. O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

¹⁰ For Your loving devotion reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.

¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

⁸ O Lord, there is none like You among the gods, nor any works like Yours.

⁶ For who in the skies can compare with the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD? ⁷ In the council of the holy ones, God is greatly feared, and awesome above all who surround Him. ⁸ O LORD God of Hosts, who is like You? O mighty LORD, Your faithfulness surrounds You.

² Then our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” ³ The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.

⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

²⁴ The path of life leads upward for the wise, that he may avoid going down to Sheol.

⁷ Wisdom is too high for a fool; he does not open his mouth in the meeting place.

¹⁶ But the LORD of Hosts will be exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.

¹⁸ To whom will you liken God? To what image will you compare Him?

²⁵ “To whom will you liken Me, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.

⁹ “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

⁷ Who would not fear You, O King of nations? This is Your due. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You.

⁴⁹ For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name.

¹¹ This is what the LORD says: ‘I will raise up adversity against you from your own house. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to another, and he will lie with them in broad daylight.

¹⁰ For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

¹ For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. ² He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm. ³ He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

³ You have shown Your people hardship; we are staggered from the wine You made us drink.

¹⁰ For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us like silver. ¹¹ You led us into the net; You laid burdens on our backs. ¹² You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but You brought us into abundance.

¹⁸ Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.

⁶ Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?

¹³ For great is Your loving devotion to me; You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol.

⁶ You have laid me in the lowest Pit, in the darkest of the depths. ⁷ Your wrath weighs heavily upon me; all Your waves have submerged me. Selah ⁸ You have removed my friends from me; You have made me repulsive to them; I am confined and cannot escape. ⁹ My eyes grow dim with grief. I call to You daily, O LORD; I spread out my hands to You. ¹⁰ Do You work wonders for the dead? Do departed spirits rise up to praise You? Selah ¹¹ Can Your loving devotion be proclaimed in the grave, Your faithfulness in Abaddon? ¹² Will Your wonders be known in the darkness, or Your righteousness in the land of oblivion? ¹³ But to You, O LORD, I cry for help; in the morning my prayer comes before You. ¹⁴ Why, O LORD, do You reject me? Why do You hide Your face from me? ¹⁵ From my youth I was afflicted and near death. I have borne Your terrors; I am in despair. ¹⁶ Your wrath has swept over me; Your terrors have destroyed me. ¹⁷ All day long they engulf me like water; they enclose me on every side. ¹⁸ You have removed my beloved and my friend; darkness is my closest companion.

²⁵ My soul cleaves to the dust; revive me according to Your word.

⁷ If I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve me from the anger of my foes; You extend Your hand, and Your right hand saves me.

¹⁹ Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your dew is like the dew of the morning, and the earth will bring forth her dead.

¹⁷ Surely for my own welfare I had such great anguish; but Your love has delivered me from the pit of oblivion, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

¹² Therefore prophesy and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘O My people, I will open your graves and bring you up from them, and I will bring you back to the land of Israel. ¹³ Then you, My people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.

¹ Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn us to pieces, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bind up our wounds. ² After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence.

⁶ To the roots of the mountains I descended; the earth beneath me barred me in forever! But You raised my life from the pit, O LORD my God!

³³ He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be deeply troubled and distressed. ³⁴ Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch.”

³⁴ At the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lima sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

²⁴ But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for Him to be held in its clutches.

³² God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses. ³³ Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. ³⁴ For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand

²³ Are they servants of Christ? I am speaking like I am out of my mind, but I am so much more: in harder labor, in worse beatings, in more imprisonments, in frequent danger of death. ²⁴ Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I spent a night and a day in the open sea. ²⁶ In my frequent journeys, I have been in danger from rivers and from bandits, in danger from my countrymen and from the Gentiles, in danger in the city and in the country, in danger on the sea and among false brothers, ²⁷ in labor and toil and often without sleep, in hunger and thirst and often without food, in cold and exposure. ²⁸ Apart from these external trials, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. ²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not burn with grief? ³⁰ If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. ³¹ The God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is forever worthy of praise, knows that I am not lying.

⁹ What does “He ascended” mean, except that He also descended first to the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁴ “Sir,” I answered, “you know.” So he replied, “These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹ Now the war between the house of Saul and the house of David was protracted. And David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.

³⁵ You have given me Your shield of salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness exalts me.

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

¹⁰ Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but loving devotion surrounds him who trusts in the LORD.

¹¹ May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.

¹⁷ Show me a sign of Your goodness, that my enemies may see and be ashamed; for You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.

¹ In that day you will say: “O LORD, I will praise You. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away, and You have comforted me.

⁶ He says: “It is not enough for You to be My Servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the protected ones of Israel. I will also make You a light for the nations, to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.”

¹³ Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; break forth in song, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, and He will have compassion on His afflicted ones.

⁴ who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. ⁵ For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

¹⁴ But thanks be to God, who always leads us triumphantly as captives in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.

⁶ But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the arrival of Titus,

¹³ On account of this, we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were even more delighted by the joy of Titus. For his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.

⁹ How can we adequately thank God for you in return for our great joy over you in His presence?

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”

²² Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

¹⁰ All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant and His decrees.

² Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to Him with ten strings.

⁴ In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

⁴¹ Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

¹ A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the loving devotion of the LORD forever; with my mouth I will proclaim Your faithfulness to all generations.

¹⁸ Surely our shield belongs to the LORD, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.

¹ A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, ² to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night ³ with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre.

³ He has remembered His love and faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

² I bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your loving devotion and Your faithfulness; You have exalted Your name and Your word above all else.

⁹ I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—

³ Praise Him with the sound of the horn; praise Him with the harp and lyre. ⁴ Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flute. ⁵ Praise Him with clashing cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals.

¹⁹ to those who say, “Let Him hurry and hasten His work so that we may see it! Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come so that we may know it!”

²⁴ Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will decay and their blossoms will blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of Hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

⁶ Cry out and sing, O citizen of Zion, for great among you is the Holy One of Israel.”

¹¹ Get out of the way; turn off the road. Rid us of the Holy One of Israel!” ¹² Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says: “Because you have rejected this message, trusting in oppression and relying on deceit,

³ For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place.

¹⁵ For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and humble in spirit, to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite.

⁹ Surely the islands will wait for Me, with the ships of Tarshish in the lead, to bring your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has glorified you.

²⁰ You will show faithfulness to Jacob and loving devotion to Abraham, as You swore to our fathers from the days of old.

¹⁸ yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! ¹⁹ GOD the Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk upon the heights! For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments.

⁸ Now I tell you that Christ Jesus has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs,

¹⁶ the angel who has redeemed me from all harm—may He bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow into a multitude upon the earth.”

²² The LORD redeems His servants, and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

⁴ who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion,

³³ I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

⁴⁶ Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

⁹ And they sang a new song: “Worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, because You were slain, and by Your blood You purchased us for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

¹⁹ Teach them to your children, speaking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

³⁷ I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were consumed. ³⁸ I crushed them so they could not rise; they have fallen under my feet. ³⁹ You have armed me with strength for battle; You have subdued my foes beneath me. ⁴⁰ You have made my enemies retreat before me; I put an end to those who hated me. ⁴¹ They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—to the LORD, but He did not answer. ⁴² I ground them as dust in the face of the wind; I trampled them like mud in the streets. ⁴³ You have delivered me from the strife of the people; You have made me the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.

¹³ May the accusers of my soul be ashamed and consumed; may those who seek my harm be covered with scorn and disgrace.

¹¹ My eyes see the downfall of my enemies; my ears hear the wailing of my wicked foes.

²⁰ The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked has little worth. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of judgment.

³⁵ The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.

²⁵ For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

²⁹ Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.
