2 Many will follow in their depravity, and because of them the way of truth will be defamed.
1 John 2:19
19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But their departure made it clear that none of them belonged to us.
2 John 1:7-11
7 For many deceivers have entered into the world, refusing to confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be fully rewarded.
9 Anyone who transgresses without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in the teaching of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even greet him.
11 Whoever greets such a person shares in his evil deeds.
Jude 1:19
19 These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit.
1 Samuel 2:12-17
12 Now the sons of Eli were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD
13 or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-pronged meat fork while the meat was boiling
14 and plunge it into the pan or kettle or cauldron or cooking pot. And the priest would claim for himself whatever the meat fork brought up. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh.
15 Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
16 And if any man said to him, “The fat must be burned first; then you may take whatever you want,” the servant would reply, “No, you must give it to me right now. If you refuse, I will take it by force!”
17 Thus the sin of these young men was severe in the sight of the LORD, for they were treating the LORD’s offering with contempt.
1 Samuel 2:29
29 Why then do you kick at My sacrifice and offering that I have prescribed for My dwelling place? You have honored your sons more than Me by fattening yourselves with the best of all the offerings of My people Israel.’
2 Chronicles 18:5
5 So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up,” they replied, “and God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
2 Chronicles 18:12-17
12 Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah instructed him, “Behold, with one accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably.”
13 But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will speak whatever my God tells me.”
14 When Micaiah arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up and triumph,” Micaiah replied, “for they will be given into your hand.”
15 But the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
16 So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
17 Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he never prophesies good for me, but only bad?”
Psalms 19:7
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.

130 The unfolding of Your words gives light; it informs the simple.

5 O simple ones, learn to be shrewd; O fools, gain understanding.

15 The simple man believes every word, but the prudent man watches his steps.
Proverbs 22:3
3 The prudent see danger and take cover, but the simple keep going and suffer the consequences.
Isaiah 30:10-11
Isaiah 56:10-12
10 Israel’s watchmen are blind, they are all oblivious; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they are dreamers lying around, loving to slumber.
11 Like ravenous dogs, they are never satisfied. They are shepherds with no discernment; they all turn to their own way, each one seeking his own gain:
12 “Come, let me get the wine, let us imbibe the strong drink, and tomorrow will be like today, only far better!”
Jeremiah 8:10-11
10 Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.
11 They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
Jeremiah 23:17
17 They keep saying to those who despise Me, ‘The LORD says that you will have peace,’ and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, ‘No harm will come to you.’
Jeremiah 28:1-9
1 In the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year, near the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, said to me in the house of the LORD in the presence of the priests and all the people:
2 “This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3 Within two years I will restore to this place all the articles of the house of the LORD that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and carried to Babylon.
4 And I will restore to this place Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the LORD, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”
5 Then the prophet Jeremiah replied to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the LORD.
6 “Amen!” Jeremiah said. “May the LORD do so! May the LORD fulfill the words you have prophesied, and may He restore the articles of His house and all the exiles back to this place from Babylon.
7 Nevertheless, listen now to this message I am speaking in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people.
8 The prophets of old who preceded you and me prophesied war, disaster, and plague against many lands and great kingdoms.
9 As for the prophet who prophesies peace, only if the word of the prophet comes true will the prophet be recognized as one the LORD has truly sent.”
Jeremiah 28:15-17
15 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah! The LORD did not send you, but you have persuaded this people to trust in a lie.
16 Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. You will die this year because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.’”
17 And in the seventh month of that very year, the prophet Hananiah died.
Ezekiel 13:16
16 those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw a vision of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Lord GOD.’
Ezekiel 13:19
19 You have profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to My people who would listen, you have killed those who should not have died and spared those who should not have lived.
Hosea 4:8-11
8 They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
9 And it shall be like people, like priest. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.
10 They will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have stopped obeying the LORD.
11 Promiscuity, wine, and new wine take away understanding.
Micah 3:5
5 This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead My people astray, who proclaim peace while they chew with their teeth, but declare war against one who puts nothing in their mouths:
Malachi 1:10
10 “Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept no offering from your hands.
Matthew 6:24
24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 7:15
15 Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Matthew 24:11
11 and many false prophets will arise and mislead many.
Matthew 24:24
24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.
Matthew 24:48-51
48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’
49 And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
50 The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate.
51 Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
John 12:26
26 If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, My servant will be as well. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Romans 16:19
19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise indeed about what is good and innocent about what is evil.
2 Corinthians 2:17
17 For we are not like others, who peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as men sent from God.
2 Corinthians 4:2
2 Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice deceit, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by open proclamation of the truth, we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
2 Corinthians 11:3
3 I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15
Galatians 1:10
10 Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Philippians 2:21
21 For all the others look after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:19
19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things.
Colossians 2:4
4 I say this so that no one will deceive you by smooth rhetoric.
Colossians 3:24
24 because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. For it is the Lord Christ you are serving.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
10 and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them.
1 Timothy 6:5
5 and constant friction between men of depraved mind who are devoid of the truth. These men regard godliness as a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.
2 Timothy 2:16-18
16 But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,
17 and the talk of such men will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 who have deviated from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already occurred, and they undermine the faith of some.
2 Timothy 3:2-6
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good,
4 traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
6 They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions,
Titus 1:10-12
10 For many are rebellious and full of empty talk and deception, especially those of (the) circumcision,
11 who must be silenced. For the sake of dishonorable gain, they undermine entire households and teach things they should not.
12 As one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”
James 1:1
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes of the Dispersion: Greetings.
2 Peter 2:3
3 In their greed, these false teachers will exploit you with deceptive words. The longstanding verdict against them remains in force, and their destruction will not sleep.
2 Peter 2:10-15
10 Such punishment is specially reserved for those who indulge the corrupt desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and self-willed, they are unafraid to slander glorious beings.
11 Yet not even angels, though greater in strength and power, dare to bring such slanderous charges against them before the Lord.
12 These men are like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be captured and destroyed. They blaspheme in matters they do not understand, and like such creatures, they will be destroyed.
13 They will receive the wages is the wages of their wickedness. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deception as they feast with you.
14 Their eyes are full of adultery; their desire for sin is never satisfied; they seduce the unstable. They are accursed children with hearts trained in greed.
15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness.
2 Peter 2:18-20
18 With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the sensual passions of the flesh and entice those who are just escaping from others who live in error.
19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves to depravity. For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.
20 If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first.
1 John 4:1-3
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
Jude 1:1
1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and kept in Jesus Christ:
Jude 1:12
12 These men are hidden reefs in your love feasts, shamelessly feasting with you but shepherding only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried along by the wind; fruitless trees in autumn, twice dead after being uprooted.
Jude 1:16
16 These men are discontented grumblers, following after their own lusts; their mouths spew arrogance; they flatter others for their own advantage.

10 Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had made this request.
11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this instead of requesting long life or wealth for yourself or death for your enemies—but you have asked for discernment to administer justice—
12 behold, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has never been nor will ever be another like you.

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed all over the world.
1 Corinthians 14:20
20 Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.
Ephesians 1:15-18
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in your knowledge of Him.
18 I ask that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,

15 so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine as lights in the world
Colossians 1:3-9
3 We always thank the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
4 because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints—
5 the faith and love proceeding from the hope stored up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel
6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
7 You also learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,
8 and who also informed us of your love in the Spirit.
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Colossians 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
1 Thessalonians 1:8-9
8 For not only did the message of the Lord ring out from you to Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone out to every place, so that we have no need to say anything more.
9 For they themselves report what kind of welcome you gave us, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God
1 Thessalonians 3:6-10
6 But just now, Timothy has returned from his visit with the good news about your faith, your love, and the fond memories you have preserved, longing to see us just as we long to see you.
7 For this reason, brothers, in all our persecution and distress, we have been reassured about you, because of your faith.
8 For now we can go on living, as long as you are standing firm in the Lord.
9 How can we adequately thank God for you in return for our great joy over you in His presence?
10 Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking from your faith.
2 Timothy 3:15-17
15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
James 3:13-18
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14 But if you harbor bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth.
15 Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.
18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness.
Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

9 And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
10 For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be trampled in his place as straw is trodden into the dung pile.
11 He will spread out his hands within it, as a swimmer spreads his arms to swim. His pride will be brought low, despite the skill of his hands.
12 The high-walled fortress will be brought down, cast to the ground, into the dust.

21 For all the others look after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.
