¹⁸ Nevertheless, I will not then have done with you, sayeth the LORD.

²⁷ For thus hath the LORD said, "The whole land shall be desolate, yet will I not then have done.

¹⁰ "Climb up upon their walls, beat them down, but destroy them not utterly: cut off their branches because they are not the LORD's.

⁸ Now when they had done the slaughter, and I yet escaped: I fell down upon my face, and cried saying, "O LORD, wilt thou then destroy all the residue of Israel, in thy sore displeasure, that thou hast poured upon Jerusalem?"

¹³ Now when I preached, Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, "O LORD God, wilt thou then utterly destroy all the remnant in Israel?"

¹ I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For even I verily am an Israelite of the seed of Abraham, and of the tribe of Benjamin; ² God hath not cast away his people which he knew before. Either know ye not what the scripture saith by the mouth of Elijah, how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, ³ "Lord they have killed thy prophets and digged down thine altars: and I am left only, and they seek my life." ⁴ But what saith the answer of God to him again? "I have reserved unto me seven thousand men which have not bowed their knees to Baal." ⁵ Even so at this time is there a remnant left through the election of grace.
