Joshua 11 Cross References - MSTC

1 And when Jabin king of Hazor had heard that, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph; 2 and unto the kings that are by north in the mountains and plains, on the south side of Chinnereth, and in the low countries, and in the regions of Dor upon the sea; 3 and unto the Canaanites both by east and west: and unto the Amorites, Hittites, Perezites, and Jebusites in the mountains; and unto the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh: 4 which came out, and all their hosts with them, a multitude of folk even as the sands of the sea in number with horses and chariots exceeding many. 5 And all these kings met together, and came and pitched together upon the water of Merom, for to fight with Israel. 6 And the LORD said unto Joshua, "Be not afraid of them: for tomorrow about this time I will deliver them all slain, before all Israel: and thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire." 7 And Joshua came, and all the men of war with him, against them: unto the water of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them. 8 And the LORD delivered them into the hands of Israel: and they smote them and chased them, into great Sidon, and unto the hot waters, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward: and smote them until they had none remaining of them. 9 And Joshua served them as the LORD bade him, houghed their horses and burnt their chariots with fire. 10 Then Joshua at that time turned back and took Hazor and smote her king with the sword. For Hazor, before time, was the head of all those kingdoms. 11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, that no breath was let remain. And burnt Hazor with fire, 12 and all the cities of those kings, with all the kings of them, Joshua took and smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded. 13 But Israel burnt none of the cities that stood upon hills, save Hazor only that Joshua burnt: 14 but all the spoil of the said cities and the cattle, the children of Israel caught unto themselves. But the men only they smote with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, 15 and had left no breath remaining. As the LORD commanded Joshua, and even so did Joshua: and diminished no word of all that the LORD commanded Moses. 16 And so Joshua took all the land, the hills and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the low country, and the plains, and the mountain of Israel, with the low country of the same, 17 even from mount Halak that goeth up to Seir, unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon, under mount Hermon. And all the kings of the same, he took and smote them, and slew them. 18 Joshua made war long time with those kings: 19 for there was no city that made peace with the children of Israel, save those Hittites that inhabited Gibeon. All other they took with battle, 20 for it came of the LORD to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle: even to destroy them utterly, that they should have no mercy, but to bring them to naught. As the LORD commanded Moses. 21 And that same season, Joshua went and destroyed the Anakims out of the mountains, and out of Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and out of all the mountains of Judah, and out of all the mountains of Israel. And Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities, 22 so that there was not one Anakim left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod, there remained of them. 23 And Joshua took the whole land according to all that the LORD said unto Moses, and gave it a possession unto Israel, every man his part in their tribes: and the land rested from war.

And Joshua said unto them, "What are ye, and whence come ye?" 9 And they answered him, "From a very far country thy servants are come, in the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt, 10 and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites beyond Jordan, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan which dwelt at Ashtaroth. 11 Wherefore our elders and all the inhabiters of our country spake to us saying, 'Take victuals with you to serve by the way, and go against them, and say unto them: We are your servants.' Now therefore make a covenant of peace with us. 12 This, our provision of bread, we took with us out of our houses, hot, the day we departed to come unto you. And now behold it is dried up and hoared. 13 And these bottles of wine which we filled were new: and see, they be rent. And these our garments and shoes are waxen old by reason of the exceeding long journey." 14 And the men took of their victuals, and counseled not with the mouth of the LORD. 15 And Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to save their lives: and the lords of the congregation sware unto them. 16 But three days after they had made peace with them, they heard that they were neighbours unto them, and that they dwelt among them. 17 For the children of Israel took their journey and came unto their cities the third day: and their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth and Kiriathjearim. 18 And the children of Israel slew them not, because the lords of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And therefore all the multitude murmured against the lords. 19 But all the lords said unto all the congregation, "We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel, and therefore we may not hurt them. 20 But this we will do to them and let them live: and so shall no wrath be upon us because of the oath which we sware unto them." 21 And the lords said unto them, "Let them live, that they may be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation," as the lords said unto them. 22 Then Joshua sent for them, and talked with them, and said, "Wherefore have ye beguiled us and yet ye dwell among us? 23 And now therefore cursed be you, and there shall not cease to be of you, bondmen and hewers of wood and drawers of water unto the house of my God." 24 And they answered Joshua and said, "It was told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God had commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabiters thereof out of your sight, and therefore we were exceeding sore afraid of our lives because of you. 25 And now, behold, we are in thine hand; as it seemeth good and right in thine eyes to do unto us, so do." 26 And he dealt as it is said with them, and rid them out of the hands of the children of Israel, that they slew them not. 27 And Joshua made them that same day hewers of wood and drawers of water unto the congregation and unto the altar of God unto this day, in the place which God should choose.

And now see I am this day four score and five years: 11 and yet am as strong at this time, as I was when Moses sent me: look how strong I was then, so strong I am now, to war and to do all manner of things. 12 Now, therefore, give me this mountain which the LORD at that time promised, for thou heardest at the time, how the Anakims were there, and how the cities were great and walled. I trust the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out as the LORD said." 13 And Joshua blessed Caleb the son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron to inherit. 14 And Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, unto this day: because he followed the LORD God of Israel perpetually. 15 And the name of Hebron was called in old time, Kiriatharba, which was a huge man among the Anakims. And the land ceased from war.

Joshua 21:44-45

44 And the LORD gave the rest round about according to all that he sware unto their fathers. So that there stood not a man of all their enemies before them. But the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hands. 45 There escaped nothing of all the good things which the LORD had said unto the house of Israel. But all came to pass.

Joshua 22:4

4 And now the LORD hath given rest unto your brethren as he promised them. Wherefore, return and go unto your tents and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.

Joshua 23:1

2 Timothy 4:7-8

7 I have fought a good fight, and have fulfilled my course, and have kept the faith. 8 From henceforth is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord that is a righteous judge shall give me at that day: not to me only: but unto all them that love his coming.

Hebrews 4:8-9

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remaineth therefore yet a rest to the people of God.
