¹¹ And when the children of Israel heard say, "Behold the children of Reuben, the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar in the forefront of the land of Canaan in the borders of Jordan on the side of the children of Israel":

⁸ "And thou shalt say unto them, 'Whatsoever man it be of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among you that offereth a burnt offering or any other offering, ⁹ and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of witness to offer unto the LORD, that fellow shall perish from among his people.

⁵ but ye shall enquire the place which the LORD your God shall have chosen out of all your tribes to put his name there and there to dwell. ⁶ And thither thou shalt come, and thither ye shall bring your burnt sacrifices and your offerings, your tithes and heave offerings of your hands, your vows and free will offerings and thy first born of your oxen and of your sheep. ⁷ And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye lay your hands on, both ye and your households, because the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

¹² If thou shalt hear say of one of thy cities which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell in, ¹³ that certain being the children of Belial are gone out from among you and have moved the inhabiters of their city, saying, 'Let us go and serve strange gods which ye have not known.' ¹⁴ Then seek and make search and enquire diligently. If it be true, and the thing of a surety that such abomination is wrought among you:
