⁹ Thou shalt make them like a fiery oven in the time of thy wrath; the LORD shall destroy them in his displeasure, and the fire shall consume them. ¹⁰ Their fruit shalt thou root out of the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

⁴ They are as venomous as the poison of a serpent, even like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ears, ⁵ that she should not hear the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely.

¹¹ For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation unto all men, hath appeared ¹² and teacheth us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and that we should live sober minded, righteously, and godly in this present world,

⁷ For that earth which drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them that dress it, receiveth blessing of God: ⁸ but that ground, which beareth thorns and briars, is reproved, and is nigh unto cursing: whose end is to be burned.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous that he should forget your work and labour that proceedeth of love, which love showed in his name, which have ministered unto the saints, and yet minister.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things — in which it was impossible that God should lie — we might have perfect consolation, which have fled, for to hold fast the hope that is set before us:

²⁸ He that despiseth Moses' law, dieth without mercy under two or three witnesses.

⁷ By faith Noah honoured God, after that he was warned of things which were not seen, and prepared the ark to the saving of his household, through the which ark he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which cometh by faith.

¹ Wherefore let us also — seeing that we are compassed with so great a multitude of witnesses — lay away all that presseth down, and the sin that hangeth on us, and let us run with patience, unto the battle that is set before us,

¹² Stretch forth therefore again the hands which were let down, and the weak knees, ¹³ and see that ye have straight steps unto your feet, lest any halting turn out of the way: yea, let it rather be healed.

²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

⁵ Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with that ye have already. For he verily said, "I will not fail thee, neither forsake thee." ⁶ That we may boldly say, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man doeth unto me."

⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted,

²⁷ Pure devotion, and undefiled before God the father, is this: To visit the friendless, and widows in their adversity, and to keep himself unspotted of the world.

¹⁵ If a brother or a sister be naked or destitute of daily food, ¹⁶ and one of you say unto them, "Depart in peace, God send you warmness and food," notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body: what helpeth it them? ¹⁷ Even so faith, if it have no deeds, is dead in itself. ¹⁸ Yea, and a man might say, "Thou hast faith, and I have deeds: Show me thy faith by thy deeds: and I will show thee my faith by my deeds." ¹⁹ Believest thou that there is one God? Thou doest well. The devils also believe and tremble. ²⁰ Wilt thou understand, o thou vain man, that faith without deeds is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified through works when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Thou seest how that faith wrought within his deeds, and through the deeds was the faith made perfect. ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, "Abraham believed God, and it was reputed unto him for righteousness," and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see, then, how that of deeds a man is justified, and not of faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also, was not Rahab the harlot justified through works, when she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, even so faith without deeds is dead.

⁴ to whom ye come as unto a living stone, disallowed of men, but chosen of God and precious:

²⁰ which were in time past disobedient, when the long suffering of God abode exceeding patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few — that is to say eight souls — were saved by water,

¹⁷ Even then, verily, when he received of God the father honour and glory, and when there came such a voice to him from that excellent glory. "This is my dear beloved son, in whom I have delight" - ¹⁸ This voice we heard when it came from heaven, being with him in the holy mount.

⁵ neither spared the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth preacher of righteousness, and brought in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

⁸ He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth since the beginning. But for this cause appeared the son of God, even to destroy the works of the devil.

¹⁷ He, then, that hath the substance of the world, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his compassion from him: how dwelleth the love of God in him?

²⁰ If a man say, "I love God," and yet hate his brother, he is a liar. For how can he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, love God whom he hath not seen?

¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying, "In heaven is now made salvation and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: For he is cast down which accused them before God day and night:

⁶ for they shed out the blood of saints, and prophets, and therefore hast thou given them blood to drink: for they are worthy."
