1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2 and said unto his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he is risen again from death, and therefore are such miracles wrought by him."
3 For Herod had taken John and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
4 For John said unto him, "It is not lawful for thee to have her."
5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the people, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 But when Herod's birthday was come, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 Wherefore he promised with an oath, that he would give her whatsoever she would ask.
8 And she, being informed of her mother before, said, "Give me here John Baptist's head in a platter."
9 And the King sorrowed: nevertheless for his oath's sake, and for their sakes, which sat also at the table, he commanded it to be given her.
10 And sent and beheaded John in the prison,
11 and his head was brought in a platter, and given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.
12 And his disciples came, and took up his body, and buried it: And went and told Jesus.
13 When Jesus had heard that, he departed thence by ship into a desert place out of the way. And when the people had heard thereof, they followed him afoot out of their cities.
14 And Jesus went forth and saw much people: and his heart did melt upon them, and he healed of them those that were sick.
15 When even was come, his disciples came to him saying, "This is a desert place, and the day is spent, let the people depart that they may go in to the towns, and buy them victuals."
16 But Jesus said unto them, "They have no need to go away: Give ye them to eat."
17 Then said they unto him, "We have here but five loaves, and two fishes."
18 And he said, "Bring them hither to me."
19 And he commanded the people to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
20 And they did all eat, and were sufficed. And they gathered up of the gobbets that remained twelve baskets full.
21 And they that ate were in number about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 And straightway Jesus made his disciples enter into a ship, and to go over before him, while he sent the people away.
23 And as soon as he had sent the people away, he went up into a mountain alone to pray. And when night was come he was there himself alone.
24 And the ship was now in the midst of the sea, and was tossed with waves, for it was a contrary wind.
25 In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came unto them, walking on the sea:
26 and when his disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is some spirit," and cried out for fear.
27 And straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, "Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid."
28 Peter answered him, and said, "Master, if thou be he, bid me come unto thee on the water."
29 And he said, "Come." And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw a mighty wind, he was afraid. And as he began to sink, he cried, saying, "Master save me."
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him, "O thou of little faith: wherefore didst thou doubt?"
32 And as soon as they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, "Of a truth thou art the son of God."
34 And when they were come over, they went into the land of Gennesaret.
35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were sick,
36 and besought him, that they might touch the hem of his vesture only. And as many as touched it, were made whole.

8 Then they said, "What are they of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD?" And behold there came none of the inhabiters of Jabeshgilead unto the congregation.
9 And when the people were viewed, behold, there were none of the inhabiters of Jabeshgilead there.
10 And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the strongest of them, and commanded them saying, "Go and smite the inhabiters of Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, both women and children.
11 And this is that ye shall do: utterly destroy all the males and the women that have lain by men."
12 And they found among the inhabiters of Jabeshgilead four hundred damsels; virgins that had known no man by lying with any male. And they brought them unto the host to Shiloh which is in the land of Canaan.
13 And the whole congregation sent and spake with the children of Benjamin that were in the rock of pomegranates, and called peaceably unto them,
14 and Benjamin came again at that time, and they gave them the women which they had saved alive of the women of Jabeshgilead. But they so sufficed them not.

16 And then the elders of the congregation said, "What shall we do to the remnant of them, to get them wives; seeing all the wives of Benjamin are destroyed?"
17 And they said, "There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel:
18 howbeit, we may not give them wives of our daughters." For the children of Israel had made an adjuration saying, 'Accursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.'
19 Then they said, "Behold, there is a feast of the LORD yearly in Shiloh which is on the north side of Bethel, and on the east side of the way that goeth from Bethel to Shechem and south from Lebanon."

21 And when ye see that the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in a row, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man a wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and get you unto the land of Benjamin."
22 And if their fathers or brethren come to us to complain, we will say unto them, "Have pity on them, because we reserved not to each man his wife in time of war, and thereto because that ye gave them none in due time, ye were to blame."

1 After a few days he entered into Capernaum again, and it was noised that he was in a house:
2 And anon many gathered together, insomuch that now there was no room to receive them: no, not so much as about the door. And he preached the word unto them.
3 And there came unto him, that brought one sick of the palsy, borne of four men:
4 and because they could not come nigh unto him for press, they uncovered the roof of the house where he was. And when they had broken it open, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the sick of the palsy, "Son, thy sins are forgiven thee."
6 And there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 "How doth this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins, but God only?"
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit, that they so reasoned in themselves, he said unto them, "Why think ye such things in your hearts?
9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy; thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, arise, take up thy bed and walk?
10 That ye may know that the son of man hath power in earth to forgive sins," he spake unto the sick of the palsy,
11 "I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy bed, and get thee hence into thine own house."
12 And by and by he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all: insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God saying, "We never saw it on this fashion."

37 and put it on a lace of Jacincth and tie it unto the mitre,
38 upon the forefront of it, that it be upon Aaron's forehead: that Aaron bear the sin of the holy things which the children of Israel have hallowed in all their holy gifts. And it shall be always upon Aaron's forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.
39 And thou shalt make an alb of bysse, and thou shalt make a mitre of bysse and a girdle of needle work.
40 And thou shalt make for Aaron's sons also coats, girdles and bonnets; honorable and glorious,
41 and thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother and on his sons with him and shalt anoint them and fill their hands and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me.
42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their privities: from the loins unto the thighs shall they reach.
43 And they shall be upon Aaron and his sons, when they go into the tabernacle of witness, or when they go unto the altar to minister in holiness, that they bear no sin and so die. And it shall be a law for ever unto Aaron and his seed after him."
