³⁹ Then he went out, and retired as usual to the mountain of olives, where his disciples followed him.

¹ When they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bepthphage, to the mount of Olives, Jesus dispatched two disciples,

³⁰ And when they had sung an hymn, they went to the mount of Olives.

³⁶ After this, Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemani, and said to the disciples, stay here, while I go there and pray. ³⁷ but he took with him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be in a very great agony of grief. ³⁸ and he said to them, "my soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death:" stay here and watch by me.

¹¹ Jesus having made his entrance into Jerusalem, went into the temple, and after he had survey'd the whole, it being then late, he departed with the twelve to Bethany.

¹⁹ but at night Jesus withdrew from the city.

³ and when he was sitting upon the mount of Olives over-against the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew said to him in private, tell us,

²⁶ Then, having sung an hymn, they went out towards the mount of Olives.

³² At length they came to a place call'd Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, stay here, whilst I shall be at prayer. ³³ but he took with him Peter, James, and John. then he began to be in a great consternation and anguish of mind. and he said to them; my soul is exceeding sorrowful, ³⁴ even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

³⁷ Thus Jesus used to teach in the temple by day, and retir'd to the mountain of Olives by night.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he pass'd with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into which he entred with them. ² now Judas, who was to betray him, knew the place: for Jesus and his disciples had frequently assembled there.
