³⁵ from whence a voice issued out, saying, "this is my beloved son, obey him."

¹⁷ of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: at the same time a voice was heard from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

²² and the holy spirit descended upon him in a corporeal form like a dove. and a voice came from heaven, which said, thou art my beloved son, in thee I am well pleased.

¹⁶ for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect that salutary doctrine? which was first published by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard him;

⁷ Wherefore as the holy spirit saith, "since to-day you hear his voice, ⁸ harden not your hearts, as at Meriba and Massa in the desart:

¹⁵ which is imply'd by, "to-day since ye hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as at Meriba."

⁹ and by a perfect obedience he procured eternal salvation for all that obey him;

²⁵ Take care that you be not deaf to him that speaketh: for if they did not escape, who disregarded the oracles pronounc'd on earth, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that delivered the oracles from heaven: ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth: but he has promised to do it now, saying, " yet once more I will shake, not the earth only, but heaven too."

¹⁷ for he received this honourable and glorious testimony from his father, when the voice broke out from the magnificent splendor, in these words, "this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ we our selves heard this voice, that came from heaven, when we were with him upon the holy mountain.
