⁶ but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ⁷ and wherever ye go, make this proclamation: the kingdom of heaven is nigh.

³⁴ and when the fruit-season came on, he sent his servants to the tenants, to receive the fruits of it.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, but ye would not!

⁷ Now having called the twelve, he sent them out by two and two, giving them power to exorcize spirits: ⁸ he order'd them to take nothing for their journey, but a single staff, no scrip, no bread, nor money in their purse: ⁹ to have but one pair of shoes, and but one coat. ¹⁰ whatever house you enter into, said he, there abide, till you leave the place. ¹¹ wherever they shall refuse to entertain you, or to hear you, at your departure shake off the dust of your feet, as a testimonial against them. I assure you, the people of Sodom and Gomorrha shall be treated with less severity in the day of judgment, than that city.

¹ After this he assembled the twelve apostles, and gave them authority over all sorts of demons, and the power of curing all diseases: ² then sent them to proclaim the reign of the Messiah, and to heal the sick. ³ and he said to them make no provision for your journey: take neither staff, nor sack, nor bread, nor money; and but one coat for each. ⁴ when you are lodg'd in any house, there stay, till you leave the place. ⁵ if any refuse to entertain you, when you leave that city, shake off the dust from your feet, as a sign of their being abandon'd. ⁶ accordingly they departed, and travell'd thro' the towns, preaching the gospel, and performing cures every where.

¹⁵ One of the company hearing that, said to him, happy is he that shall be entertain'd in the kingdom of God. ¹⁶ upon which Jesus said, a certain man made a great entertainment; where many were invited. ¹⁷ at supper-time he sent his servant to tell the guests to come, because every thing was ready.

²⁸ upon this he was full of resentment, and refused to go in: and when his father came out to persuade him, he replied to his father,

²⁷ as for those enemies of mine, who would not have me for their king, bring them here, and slay them in my presence.

²⁵ Take care that you be not deaf to him that speaketh: for if they did not escape, who disregarded the oracles pronounc'd on earth, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that delivered the oracles from heaven:

¹⁷ the spirit and the bride say, come. let him that heareth, say, come. let him that is a-thirst, come: and whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
