⁷ Then there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; on the other side fought the dragon with his angels: but these were defeated,

⁴¹ the son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all that make others offend, and those who do iniquity;

²⁷ for the son of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his angels; and then shall be make retribution to every man according to his works.

³¹ and he shall send his messengers, who with the shrill sound of a trumpet, shall gather together his select from the four winds, from one end of the heaven to the other.

⁴¹ then will he say to those on the left, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

⁵³ do you think my father, if I should now desire it of him, would not instantly send me more than twelve legions of angels?

⁷ and lest I should be exalted above measure by the extraordinary revelations I have had, I was afflicted in my person, so that the messenger of satan insulted me; concerning which,

¹² for our conflict is not barely with men, but with principalities, with potentates, with the princes of darkness, with wicked aereal spirits.

⁷ and that you, who are distress'd, should obtain your repose, together with us, when the Lord Jesus, with his angels, the ministers of his power, shall descend from heaven,

¹⁰ For it was agreeable to his wisdom, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to consecrate the author of their salvation by his sufferings.

⁴ for since God did not spare the angels, who had sinned, but having precipitated them to hell, confin'd them to chains of darkness, where they are reserv'd for judgment:

⁹ whereas Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, did not take the liberty to inveigh against him, but said, "the Lord rebuke thee."

³ And there appeared another wonder in heaven, it was a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. ⁴ his tail swept the third part of the stars of heaven; and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered, in order to devour her child as soon as it was born.

⁹ the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, call'd the devil or satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were precipitated with him.

⁷ he was permitted to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all the tribes, and provinces, and nations.

¹¹ Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse appear'd; and he that sat upon him was called the faithful and the true: in righteousness he judges and makes war: ¹² his eyes were as a flame of fire, on his head were many crowns: and a name inscrib'd which no one comprehended, but himself: ¹³ he had a vesture dipt in blood: and his name is called, the logos of God. ¹⁴ and the armies of heaven followed him upon white horses, cloathed in fine linnen, white and clean. ¹⁵ out of his mouth went a sharp sword, in order to smite the nations: for he shall rule them with an iron sceptre: and tread the wine-press of the fierce vengeance of almighty God. ¹⁶ on the mantle about his thigh was this inscription, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. ¹⁷ I saw likewise an angel standing upon the sun; and he cryed with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, "come and gather your selves together to the supper of the great God; ¹⁸ that ye may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses, and of those that ride on them, the flesh of all that are free, and all that are slaves, both small and great." ¹⁹ Then I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, with their armies assembled, to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. ²⁰ and the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles in his favour, by which he seduc'd those that had received the mark of the beast, and those that worshipped his image. these were both cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
