⁵ And the enhabiters of Iebus sayd to Dauid, thou comest not here. Neuerthelater Dauid wanne the castel of Sion, which is called the cytye of Dauid.

⁹ yf he be able to fyght wyth me, and to beate me, then we wyll be youre seruauntes. But yf I can ouercome hym and beate hym, then ye shalbe oure seruauntes and serue vs. ¹⁰ And the Philistine said: I haue defyed the host of Israel thys daye geue me a man and let vs fyght together.

²⁶ Then spake Dauid to the men that stode by and sayde: What shalbe done to the man that beateth thys Philistine, and taketh awaye the shame from Israel? for what is this vncircumcysed Phylystyne, that he shoulde reuyle the hoste of the lyuynge God?

³⁶ For bothe a Lyon and also a Beare hath thy seruaunt slayne. And this vncircumcysed Philistine shalbe as one of them, for hys railing on the hoste of the lyuyng God.

⁹ And Dauid dwelte in the toure and called it the cytye of Dauid. And Dauid buylt round aboute it from Mello inwarde.

¹⁰ And so Dauid wolde not bryng the arcke of the Lord wyth hym into the cytye of Dauid. But caryed it into the house of Obed Edom a Gethite.

¹² And when it was told Kynge Dauid howe that the Lorde had blessed the house of Obed Edom and all that pertayned vnto hym, because of the arck of God he went and brought the arcke of God from the house of Obed Edom vnto the cytye of Dauid wyth gladnes.

¹ Then Salomon gathered the elders of Israel, all the heades of the trybes and auncyent Lordes of the chyldren of Israel, vnto him to Ierusalem, to bryng vp the arcke of the appoyntment of the Lord out of the cytye of Dauid which is Syon.

⁷ And because Dauid dwelt in the castel, therfore it was called the cytye of Dauid.

² Then Salomon gathered the elders of Israell together and all the heades of the tribes and auncyent Lordes amonge the chyldren of Israell, vnto Ierusalem, to brynge the arcke of the couenaunt of the Lorde oute of the cyty of Dauid which is Zion.

⁶ Yet haue I sette my kyng vpon my holy hyll of syon.

¹¹ O prayse the Lorde, whiche dwelleth in Syon, shewe the people of hys doynges.

² The hyll of Syon is lyke a fayre plante, whereof all the lande reioyseth: vpon the north side lyeth the cytye of the great kyng.

¹² Walke about Sion, go rounde about her and tell her towres. ¹³ Marke well her walles, sette vp her houses. that it may be tolde them that come after.

⁶⁸ Neuertheles, he chose the trybe of Iuda, euen the hyll of Syon which he loued.

² the Lorde loueth the gates of Syon more then all the dwellynges, of Iacob.

⁵ And of Sion it shalbe reported, that he was borne in her, euen the most hyest whych hath buylded her.

⁵ For there is the seate of iudgmente, euen the seate of the house of Dauyd.

¹ The song of the steares. They that put their truste in the Lord, are euen as the mounte Syon, which may not be remoued, but standeth fast for euer. ² The hylles stande about Ierusalem, euen so standeth the Lorde rounde about hys people, from this tyme forthe for euermore.

¹³ For the Lord hath chosen Syon, to be an habitacyon for him selfe hath he chosen her.

¹¹ Caph. The Lorde hath perfourmed hys heuy wrath: he hath poured out the furiousnes of hys dyspleasure. He hath kyndled a fyre in Sion, which hath consumed the foundacions therof. ¹² Lamed. Nether the kinges of the earth, ner all the inhabitours of the worlde, wolde haue beleued that the enemie & aduersarye shulde haue come in at the gates of the cytie of Hierusalem.

³³ As it is wrytten. Beholde I put in Syon a stomblyng stone, and a rocke which shall make men faule. And none that beleue on hym, shalbe a shamed.

²² But ye are come vnto the mounte Syon, and to the cytye of the lyuyng God, the celestiall Ierusalem: and to an innumerable syghte of Angels,

¹ And I loked, and lo a lamb stode on the mounte Syon, and wyth him an hundred & .xliiij. thousand hauyng hys fathers name wrytten in theyr forheades.
