And Eleazar & Ithamar were the priestes. ³ And Dauid ordered them on this maner: Zadock of the sonnes of Eleazar and Ahimelek of the sonnes of Ithamar to be in office by course. ⁴ And there were mo myghtye heades found of the sonnes of Eleazar, then of the sonnes of Ithamar. And they deuided them into .xvi. heades of auncient housholdes of the sonnes of Eleazar, & eyght of the sonnes of Ithamar. ⁵ And they put them in order by lot, one wyth another, that there shoulde be rulers in the sanctuarye and Lordes before God as well of the sonnes of Ithamar, as of the sonnes of Eleazar. ⁶ And Semeiah the sonne of Nathaneel the Scribe of the Leuites wrote them before the kynge and the Lordes, and before Zadock the pryeste, and Ahimelek the sonne of Abiathar, & before the auncient heades of the priestes & of the Leuites: one principal houshould for Eleazar and one for Ithamar. ⁷ And the fyrst lot fell to Iehoiarib. The seconde to Iedaiah. ⁸ The thirde to Harim. The fourth to Seorim. ⁹ The fyft to Melchiah. The sixte to Miamin. ¹⁰ The seuenth to Hakes. The eyght to Abiah. ¹¹ The nynthe to Iesua. Of the sonnes of Subael Iedehiabu. ²¹ Of the sonnes of Rohabiah, the fyrst Iesiah. ²² Of the Izaharites, Salemoth. Of the sonnes of Salemoth, Iahath. ²³ And the sonnes of Hebron were Ieriahu the fyrste, Amariah the seconde, Iahaziel the thirde, Iekameam the fourthe. ²⁴ Of the sonnes of Vsiel, Micah. Of the sonnes of Micah, Samir. ²⁵ The brother of Micah was Iesiah. Of the sonnes of Iesiah, Zachariah. ²⁶ The sonnes of Merari were Mahali and Musi. The sonnes of Iaaziahu, Beno. ²⁷ The sonnes of Merari by Iaaziahu, Beno, Sohem, Zacur and Ebri. ²⁸ Maheli had Eleazar, whyche had no sonnes. ²⁹ The sonnes of Kis: Ierahemel. ³⁰ The sonnes of Musi: Mahali, Eder and Iermoth. These are of the children of Leui in the housholdes of their fathers. ³¹ And these cast lottes next to their brethren the sonnes of Aaron, before Dauid the kynge and Zadock and Ahimelec, and the auncient heades and priestes of the Leuites, as wel the youngest brother as an auncient heade.

²³ And Aaron toke Elizaba daughter of Aminadab & sister of Nahason, to wife: which bare him Nadab, Abehu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

¹ And take thou vnto the Aaron thy brother and hys sonnes wyth him, from amonge the children of Israell that he may minister vnto me, both Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar Arons sonnes.

¹ And Nadab and Abihu the Sonnes of Aaron toke eyther of theym hys censor, and putte fyre therin, and put cense vpon and brought straunge fyre before the Lord: which he commaunded them not, ² and ther went a fyre out from the Lord, and consumed them, & they dyed before the Lorde. ³ Then Moses sayed vnto Aaron: this is that the Lorde spake saying: I wyl be sanctified in them that come nye me, & before all the people I wil be glorified. And Aaron helde hys peace. ⁴ And Moses called Misael and Elisaphan the sonnes of Oziel the vncle of Aaron, and sayed vnto them: goo and carye youre brethren from the holy place out of the host. ⁵ And they went to theym, and caried them in their albes out of the host, as Moses bade. ⁶ And Moses said vnto Aaron & vnto Eleazar & Ithamar his eldest sonnes: vncouer not your heades, neither rent your clothes, lest ye dye and wrath come vpon all the people, let your brethren the whole house of Israell bewepe the burnynge whyche the Lorde hathe burnt.

² and these are the names of the sonnes of Aaron: Nadab the eldest sonne, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

⁶⁰ And vnto Aaron were borne, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar & Ithamar.

³ The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses & Miriam. The sonnes of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

⁶ And Dauid put an ordre amonge the chyldren of Leui: Gerson, Cahath and Merari:

¹ And he sayde vnto Moses: come vnto the Lord: both thou & Aaron, Nadab & Abihu, & the .lxx. elders of Israel, and worship afarre of.

⁹ Then went Moyses & Aaron, Nadad and Abihu and the .lxx. elders of Israell vp,

⁹ & gyrd them with gyrdels: as well Aaron as his sonnes. And put the bonettes on them that the priestes office maye be theirs for a perpetuall lawe. And fyl the handes of Aaron and of hys sonnes,

² and ther went a fyre out from the Lord, and consumed them, & they dyed before the Lorde.

¹² And Moses sayed vnto Aaron and vnto Eliazar & Ithamer his sons that were lefte: take the meatoffering that remayneth of the sacrifices of the Lorde, and eat it without leuen besyde the alter, for it is most holy:

⁴ but Nadab and Abihu dyed before the Lorde, as they broughte straunge fyre before the Lord in the wyldernes of Sinai, & had no children. And Eleazar & Ithamar mynystred in the syghte of Aaron theyr father.

³⁹ And Eleazar the Prieste toke the brasen censers whych they that were burnt had offered, & beate them and fastened them vpon the alter, ⁴⁰ to be a remembraunce vnto the children of Israel, that no straunger which is not of the seed of Aaron, come nere to offer cense before the Lord, that he be not made lyke vnto Corah and hys companye: as the Lord sayd vnto hym by the hand of Moses.

⁷ And se that both thou and thy sonnes wyth the take hede vnto your priestes offyce, in al thinges that pertayne vnto the alter, and wythin the vayle. And se that ye serue, for I haue geuen youre prestes offyce vnto you for a gifte to do seruyce, and the straunger that commeth nye, shall dye.

⁶¹ But Nadab & Abihu dyed, as they offered straunge fyre before the lord.

¹ Then came Dauid to Nob to Ahimelech the pryest. And Ahimelech was astonied at his coming and said vnto him: Why comest thou thy self alone, and noman wyth the?

⁹ Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which had the ouer sight of the seruauntes of Saul and sayde: I sawe the sonne of Isai, when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitob, ¹⁰ whyche asked councel of the lorde for him and gaue him vitayles, and the swerde of Goliath the Philistine also. ¹¹ Then the king sent to calle Ahimelech the pryest the sonne of Ahitob, and all hys fathers house, that is to saye, the pryestes that were in Nob. And they came all to the kinge. ¹² And Saul sayde: heare thou sonne of Ahitob. And he sayde: here I am my Lorde. ¹³ Then sayde Saul to hym: why haue ye conspyred against me, thou and the sonne of Isai, in so muche that thou hast geuen hym vitayle and a swerde, and hast asked councell of God for him, that he shoulde aryse against me, and lye awayte as it is come to passe thys daye. ¹⁴ And Ahymelech answered the kynge & sayde: who is so faythfull amonge all thy seruauntes as Dauid & therto the kinges sonne in lawe, and goeth at thy bidding, and is had in honoure in thyne house? ¹⁵ haue I thys daye begonne fyrst to aske councel of God for him? God forbyd that from me: let not the kynge put suche a thinge vnto hys seruaunt and on all the house of my father. For thy seruaunt knoweth nothinge of all thys, ether lesse or more. ¹⁶ But for all that the kynge sayd: thou shalt surely dye Ahimelech, bothe thou and all thy fathers house. ¹⁷ Then sayde the kynge vnto his fote men that stode about hym: turne and sley the priestes of the Lorde, bothe because their hand is with Dauid, and because they knewe when Dauid fled & shewed it not to me. But the seruauntes of the kynge woulde not moue their handes, to runne vpon the priestes of the Lorde. ¹⁸ Then saide the kinge to Doeg: turne thou and smyte the pryestes. And Doeg the Edomite turned and ranne vpon the priestes and slue that same daye foure skore and fyue persones that dyd weare eche man a lynnen Ephod. ¹⁹ And Nob the citie of the pryestes he smote with the edge of the swerde, bothe man and woman, chylde and suckelynge, with oxe asse and shepe. ²⁰ But yet one of the sonnes of Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitob, named Abiathar, escaped & fled to Dauid, ²¹ and he shewed Dauid, how that Saul had slaine the Lordes priestes. ²² And Dauid sayde vnto Abiathar: I wist it the same daye, that Doeg the Edomite whyche was there would tell it Saul. And I am cause of the death of all the soules of thy fathers house. ²³ Abyde with me and feare not: he that seketh thy soule, shall seke myne, and with me thou shalt be in sauegarde.

¹⁷ And Sadoch the sonne of Ahitob and Ahimelech the sonne of Abiathar were the Priestes, and Saraiah was the Scrybe.

²⁵ Seua was scribe. And Sadock & Abiathar were the pryestes.

³⁵ And the king put Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the host, and put Sadock the priest in the roume of Abiathar.

⁴ Eleazar begat Phinehes. Phinehes begat Abisue. ⁵ Abisue begat Boki. Boki begat Ozi ⁶ Ozi begat Zarahiah. Zarahiah begat Meraioth. ⁷ Meraioth begat Amariah. Amariah begat Ahitob. ⁸ Ahitob begat Zadoc. Zadoc begat Ahimaaz.

⁵⁰ These are the sonnes of Aaron: Eleazar, whose sonnes was Phinehes, and hys sonne Abisue: ⁵¹ and his sonne Boki, and the sonne of hym Ozi, and hys sonne Zarahia, ⁵² and the sonne of hym Meraioth, and his sonne Amariah, and the sonne of hym Ahitob: ⁵³ and Zadoc hys sonne, and Ahimaaz his sonne.

²⁷ And Iehoiada was the chefe of them of Aaron, and with him thre thousand and seuen hundred. ²⁸ And Zadock a younge man of greate power had hys fathers housholde wyth Capitaynes .xxij.

¹¹ And Dauid called to Zadock & Abiathar the preastes, and to the Leuites Vriel, Asaiah Ioel, Semeiah, Eliel & Aminadab:

³⁹ And Zadock the pryeste wyth hys brethren the priestes set he before the tabernacle of the Lorde at the hylaulters at Gabaon,

⁶ And Semeiah the sonne of Nathaneel the Scribe of the Leuites wrote them before the kynge and the Lordes, and before Zadock the pryeste, and Ahimelek the sonne of Abiathar, & before the auncient heades of the priestes & of the Leuites: one principal houshould for Eleazar and one for Ithamar.

¹¹ Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the prieste, hathe turned myne anger awaye from the chyldren of Israel, bycause he was gelouse for my sake amonge them that I had not consumed the chyldren of Israel in my gelousy. ¹² Wherfore say: beholde I geue vnto him my couenaunt of peace, ¹³ & he shall haue it and hys sede after him, euen the couenaunt of the priestes office for euer, bycause he was gelous for his Goddes sake & made an atonement for the children of Israel.

⁶ And of the chyldren of Merari: Asaiah the chefe, and of his brethren .ij. hundred and .xx. ⁷ And of the sonnes of Gerson Ioel the chefe, and of his brethren an hundred and thyrtie. ⁸ And of the children of Elizaphan: Semeiah the chefe and of hys brethren two hundred. ⁹ And of the sonnes of Hebron Eliel the chefe, and of his brethren .lxxx. ¹⁰ And of the sonnes of Oziel, Aminadab the chefe, and of hys brethren an hundred and .xij. ¹¹ And Dauid called to Zadock & Abiathar the preastes, and to the Leuites Vriel, Asaiah Ioel, Semeiah, Eliel & Aminadab: ¹² & sayde vnto them: ye are the princypall heades of the Leuites, sanctefye therfore youre selues and youre brethren, and brynge the Arcke of the Lord God of Israel vnto the place that I haue prepared for it.

²⁴ These are the children of Leui in the housholdes of their fathers the auncyent heades, vewed and nombred by name and polle by polle from twentye yeare and aboue, to worcke in the seruyce of the house of the Lorde.

¹⁰ And Iosua caste lottes for them in Siloh before the Lorde, and there he deuided the land vnto the chyldren of Israel, to eche their porcion.

¹¹ Azariah the sonne of Helkiah the sonne of Mosolam, the sonne of Zadoc the sonne of Maraioth the sonne of Ahitob the chefeste in the house of God.

⁸ And his Lordes gaue wyllynglye both vnto the people & also vnto the preastes & vnto the Leuites. Helkiah, Zachariah & Iehiel, rulers of the house of God, gaue vnto the preastes for passeouerofferynges two thousand & syxe hundred lambes & kyddes, and thre hundred oxen.

¹¹ Saraiah the sonne of Helkiah the sonne of Mosolam, the sonne of Zadoc, the sonne of Meraioth, the sonne of Ahitob, was prince in the house of God:

³³ The lotts are caste into the lappe, but there fal standeth in the Lorde.

⁷ And they sayde one to another: come, lett vs cast lottes: that we maye knowe, for whose cause we are thus troubled. And so they cast lottes, and the lot fell vpon Ionas.

³ Then assembled together the chiefe priestes and the scrybes and the elders of the people to the palaice of the hye priest, called Cayphas,

¹ When the morning was come, al the chief priestes & the elders of the people held a counsell agaynste Iesus, to put hym to death,

²⁶ And they gaue forth theyr lottes, and the lot fell on Mathias, and he was counted with the eleuen Apostles.

¹ As they spake vnto the people: the Priestes and the Rular of the Temple, and the Saduces came vpon them,

⁶ as Annas the chiefe Prieste, and Cayphas, and Iohn, and Alexander, and as many as were of the hye priestes gathered together at Ierusalem,

²⁴ When the chiefe Priest of al and the ruler of the temple and the hye Priestes heard these thinges, they doubted of them whervnto thys woulde growe.

¹⁶ and Zadock the sonne of Ahitob & Abimeleh the sonne of Abiathar were the priestes, & Susa was scribe,

¹³ And ouer the bearers of burthens & ouer all that wrought, in what soeuer worckeman shipe it were, wete there scribes, officers and porters of the Leuites.

⁶ This Esdras was a quicke scribe in the lawe of Moses, whiche the Lord God of Israel dyd geue. And the kinge gaue him al that he requireth accordynge to the hande of the Lord his God vpon him.

¹ al the people gathered themselues together as one man vpon the strete before the Watergate, and sayde vnto Esdras the scrybe, that he shulde fetche the boke of the lawe of Moses, whiche the Lorde commaunded to Israell.

¹⁹ And there came a scribe and sayde vnto hym: master, I wil folowe the whither soeuer thou goest.

⁵² Then sayd he vnto them. Therfore euery Scribe which is taught vnto the kyngdome of heauen is lyke an housholder, whiche bringeth forth, out of his treasur, thinges both new & old.

¹ Then spake Iesus to the people, & to hys disciples ² sayinge: The Scribes and the Phariseis sit in Moyses seate.

¹⁰ And of the priestes: Iedaiah, Iehoiarib & Iacin:

³⁶ The pryestes. The chyldren of Iedaiah of the house of Iesua, nyne hundred and thre & seuenty:

¹⁰ Of the priestes there dwelte: Iedaiah the sonne of Ioiarib, Iachin.

¹⁹ vnder Ioiarib Mathnai, vnder Iadaiah Vsi,

³⁹ the chyldren of Harim, a thousande and seuentene.

²¹ Amonge the chyldren of Harim, Maasiah, Eltah, Semeiah, Iehiel, and Osiah.

³⁵ the chyldren of Harim, thre hundred and twenty:

¹⁵ vnder Harim Edna, vnder Maraioth Helcai,

¹⁷ vnder Abia Zechri, vnder Miniamin & Moadia Peltai,

⁴ Ado, Genthoi, Abiah,

⁵ Ther was in the dayes of Herode kynge of Iurye, a certaine prieste named Zacharias, of the course of Abaia. And his wyfe was of the doughters of Aaron and her name was Elizabeth.

⁴ This is it therfore that ye shal do. The third parte of you priestes & Leuites whiche come in the Saboth daye, shall kepe the dores

⁸ And the Leuites & al Iuda did in al thinges as Iehoiada the priestes commaunded, & toke euery man his men: both them that came in, & them that went out the saboth daye: for Iehoiada the prieste did let none of the companyes departe.

⁴⁰ And let al thynges be done honestlye and iu ordre.

¹¹ Yf nowe therfore perfeccyon came by the priesthode of the Leuytes (for vnder that presthode the people receyueth the lawe) what nedeth furthermore that another prieste shoulde aryse after the ordre of Melchisedech, and not after the ordre of Aaron?

¹⁸ And the sonnes of Cahath were Amram, Izahar, Hebron and Oziel,

¹² The sonnes of Cahath: Amram, Izahar, Hebron & Vziel, foure. ¹³ The sonnes of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was appoynted to consecrate in the place moost holy, with his sonnes for euer: & to burne the offerynges before the Lorde, and to ministre, & to blesse in his name for euer. ¹⁴ And as for Moses the man of God, hys chyldren were named wt the trybe of Leui.

¹⁶ And of the sonnes of Gerzon: Sabael was the chefe.

²⁴ was Subuel the sonne of Gerson the sonne of Moses a ruler ouer the treasure.

¹⁷ The sonnes of Eliezer: Rohabiah the chefe. And Eliezer had no nother sonnes: But the sonnes of Rohabiah were very manye.

²⁵ And of hys brethren the sonnes of Eliezer, was Rahabiah, whose sonne was Isaiah, & his sonne was Ioram, & hys sonne Zechri, and hys sonne was Selomith,

²¹ The children of Iezear: Korah, Nepheg and Sychri.

¹⁹ And the sonnes of Cahath in theyr kinredes were Amram, Iezehar, Hebron, & Oziel.

²⁷ And of Cahath came the kynred of the Amramites and the kinred of the Iezeharites & of the Hebronites and of the Ozielites: And these are the kinreds of the Cahathites.

¹⁸ And of the sonnes of Izahar: Salomi, the chefe.

²⁶ which Selomith and hys brethren were ouer all the treasures of the dedycate gyftes which Dauid the king, & the auncyent heades of the captaynes ouer thousandes & hundredes, and the capitaynes of the hoste had dedicated

¹⁹ The sonnes of Hebron: Ieriahu, the fyrste, Amariah the seconde, Iahaziel the thirde, and Iecmaam the fourthe.

³¹ And Iediah was the chefeste amonge the kynredes and fathers of the Hebronites. And in the fourtye yeare of the kyngedom of Dauid they were fought for. And there were founde of them men of actyuyte at Iezer in Galaad.

²⁰ The sonnes of Vziel: Micah the fyrste and Iesiah the seconde.

¹⁸ And with them theyr brethren of the seconde degree: Zachariah, Ben, Iaaziel, Semiramoth Iahiel, Vni, Eliab, Banaiah, Maasiah, Mathathiah, Eliphelehu, Makaniah, Obed, Edom and Iaiel, porters.

²⁰ And Zachariah, Oziel, Semiramoth, Iehiel, Ani, Eliab, Maasaiah and Bananiah sang with psalteris on an Almoth.

²¹ The sonnes of Merari: Mahali, and Musi, the sonnes of Mahali: Eleazar and Cis.

¹⁹ The chyldren of Merary are these: Mahely, & Musy: these are the kynreddes of Leuy in theyr generations.

²⁰ And the sonnes of Merari in theyr kynredes were Maheli and Musi. These are the kynredes of Leuy in the houses of theyr fathers.

¹⁹ the sonnes of Merari: Moholi and Musi These are the kynreddes of Leui concernynge theyr auncient fathers.

²² And Eleazar died and had no sonnes but doughters onlye, whiche their brethren the sonnes of Cis toke.

⁴⁷ the sonne of Moholi, the sonne of Musi, the sonne of Merari, the sonne of Leui.

²³ The sonnes of Musi: Mahali, Eder, and Ierumuth, thre.

⁵⁶ & according to theyr lot thou shalt deuide theyr lande both to the many & to the fewe.

⁸ And they cast Lottes indifferentlye how they shoulde wayte as wel the smalle as the greate, the scoler as well as the skole mayster.

¹³ And they caste lottes, the smalle as well as the greate in the housholdes of theyr fathers, from gate to gate.
