¹ And Dauid kynge sayde vnto all the congregacion: God hath specyallye chosen Salomon my sonne which is yet younge and tender, and the worcke is great for the house is not for man, but for the Lorde God. ² Moreouer I haue prepared with al my myghte for the house of God, golde for thynges of goulde, and syluer for thynges of syluer, brasse for thynges of brasse, yron for thynges of yron, and wood for thynges of wood: & onykes stones, set stones, and of other gay stones, and all maner of precyouse stones, and of marbre great aboundaunce. ³ And yet because I haue luste to the house of my God: I haue seuerall goulde and syluer which I geue to the house of my God aboue all I haue prepared for the holye house: ⁴ euen thre thousande talentes of goulde of Ophir, and seuen thousande talentes of syluer tryed: to syle the walles of the house ⁵ with goulde where it becometh, and wyth syluer where syluer is mete, and for all maner of worcke by the handes of artificers. And let me se who is wyllynge also, to fyll hys hande for the Lorde thys daye. ⁶ And the auncyent Lordes and the Lordes of the trybes of Israel, and the Capytaynes of thousandes and hundredes & the Lordes ouer the substaunce of the kynge, were wyllynge, ⁷ and gaue for the seruyce of the house of God, fyue thousande talentes of goulde, and ten thousande peces of goulde coynes, and ten thousande talentes of syluer, and .xviij. thousande talentes of brasse, and an hundred thousande talentes of yron. ⁸ And they that had precyouse stones, gaue them for the treasure of the house of the Lorde, vnto the hande of Iehiell the Gersonite. ⁹ And the people reioysed that they were so wyllynge: for wyth a pure herte they were wyllynge vnto the Lorde. And therto Dauid the kynge reioysed with great gladnesse. ¹⁰ And Dauid blessed the Lorde before all the congregacyon and sayde: Blessed arte thou Lorde God of Israel oure father, from euer and for euer. ¹¹ Thyne (O Lorde) is greatenesse, power glorye, vyctorye and prayse: for all that is in heauen and in earthe is thyne, and thyne is the kyngedome (O Lorde) and thou arte lyfte vp an head aboue all. ¹² And rychesse and honoure come of the, and thou raygnest ouer all, and in thyne hande is power and strengthe, and in thyne hande it is to make greate, and to geue strengthe vnto all. ¹³ And nowe oure God, we thanke the, and prayse thy gloryous name. ¹⁴ For what am I? and what is my people? that we shulde obtayne strengthe to be so wyllynge? But all is of the, and of that we receyued of thyne hand we haue geuen the. ¹⁵ For we be but straungers before the and tenauntes, as were all oure fathers. Oure dayes on the earth is but a shadowe, and there is none abydynge. ¹⁶ O Lorde oure God, all thys kepe that we haue prepared to buylde the an house for thy holy name, cometh of thyne hande, & is all thyne. ¹⁷ I wote my God, that thou prouest the herte, and hast pleasure in playnesse. And in playnesse of myne herte I haue wyllynglye geuen all thys. And now I se thy people whiche are here in gladnesse, to offer wyllyngly to the. ¹⁸ O Lorde God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israell oure fathers, kepe thys for euer in the ymaginacion of the thoughtes of the herte of thy people, & prepare theyr hertes vnto the. ¹⁹ And geue vnto Salomon my sonne, a pure herte to kepe thy commaundementes, thy testimonyes & thyne ordinaunces, and to do all, and to buylde the house whiche I entended. ²⁰ And Dauid sayde to all the congregacion: blesse the Lorde youre God. And all the congregacyon blessed the Lorde God of theyr fathers, & stouped & bowed them selues vnto the Lorde, & to the Kynge. ²¹ And they offered offerynges vnto the Lorde. And on the morowe after the sayde daye, they offered in burntofferynges vnto the Lord a thousand oxen, a thousand rammes & a thousand lambes with their drynckeofferynges. An they slue plenteouslye thorowout all Israel, ²² & did eate & dryncke before the Lorde the same daye with great gladnesse. And they made Salomon the sonne of Dauid kyng the second tyme, and anoynted hym vnto the Lorde, to be ruler, and Zadock to be the prieste. ²³ And so Salomon sate on the seate of the Lorde, and was kynge for Dauid hys father, & prospered, and all Israel obeyed hym. ²⁴ And all the Lordes and men of power, & therto all the sonnes of Kynge Dauid submytted them selues vnder kynge Salomon. ²⁵ And the Lorde magnyfyed Salomon on hye, in the syghte of all Israel, and gaue hym so gloryouse a kyngedome as none of all that were kynges before in Israell had. ²⁶ Now Dauid the sonne of Isai was kynge ouer all Israel. ²⁷ And the space he raygned ouer Israel was fourtye yeare: seuen yeare in Hebron, & .xxxiij. yeare in Ierusalem. ²⁸ And he dyed in a good age: old, ryche, and gloryouse: And Salomon his sonne raigned in hys steade. ²⁹ The actes of Dauid the kyng both fyrste & laste, are written in the bokes of Samuell the sear and in the boke of Nathan the Prophete, and in the boke of Gad the sear of vysyons, ³⁰ with all hys kyngdome & power, & tymes that wente ouer hym, & ouer all Israell, and ouer all the kyngedomes of the earthe.

⁷ And now Lord, my God, it is thou that hast made thy seruaunt kynge in steade of Dauid my father. And I am a young lad & wote not how to order my selfe.

¹⁹ Neuerthelesse thou shalt not buylde the house, but thy sonne that shal come out of thy loynes he shal buylde an house for my name. ²⁰ And the Lorde hath made good hys worde that he spake. For I stode vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and sate on the seate of Israel, as the Lorde promysed, & haue buylt an house for the name of the Lorde God of Israel.

⁵ For Dauid thus thought: Salomon my sonne is younge and tender, and the house that is to be buylt for the Lorde, must exceade in greatnesse, that it maye be spoken of and praysed in all landes. I wyll therfore make ordynaunce for it. And so Dauid prepared aboundance before hys death.

¹ And Dauid gathered together al the Lordes of Israel: the Lordes of the trybes, the Lordes of the companyes that mynystred to the kyng by course, the Lordes ouer the thousandes and ouer the hundredes, & the Lordes ouer all the goodes and catell of the kynge of his sonnes, with the chambrelaynes warryoures and all actiue men vnto Ierusalem.

⁵ And of all my sonnes (for the Lorde hathe geuen me manye sonnes) he hath chosen Salomon my sonne, to syt in the seate of the kingdom of the Lorde ouer Israel. ⁶ And he sayde vnto me: Salomon thy sonne, he shall buylde my house and my courtes, for I haue chosen hym to be my sonne, and I wyl be hys father

⁸ And nowe I saye vnto you before all Israel the congregacyon of the Lorde, and in the audience of oure God: kepe and seke for al the commaundementes of the Lorde your God, that ye maye enioye a good lande, and inheryte youre chyldren after you for euer.

¹⁰ Take hede now, for the Lord hath chosen the, to buylde an house of thy sanctuarye. Be stronge, and do it.

¹⁹ And geue vnto Salomon my sonne, a pure herte to kepe thy commaundementes, thy testimonyes & thyne ordinaunces, and to do all, and to buylde the house whiche I entended.

⁴ that I may builde an house for the name of the Lorde my God, to consecrate it to hym to burne swete odours & to set shewbread before hym perpetuallye, & for burntsacrifyce mornynge and euenyng, & on the Saboth dayes, and the fyrst daye of euery newe mone, and in the solempne feastes of the Lorde oure God, so to continue euer in Israel. ⁵ And the house which I buyld, is great: for great is oure God aboue all Goddes:

⁷ And there gathered to hym lewde men and vnthryftes, and preuayled agaynste Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon: for Rehoboam was young & tender hearted, and not stronge ynough for them.

³ For when I my selfe was my fathers deare sonne, and tenderlye beloued of my mother,

⁶ Then sayde I: Oh Lorde God, I am vnmete, for I am yet but younge. ⁷ And the Lorde answered me thus: Saye not so, I am to younge. For thou shalt go to al that I shall sende the vnto, and whatsoeuer I commaund the, that shalt thou speake.

¹² where golde groweth. And the golde of that contre is precyous, ther is found Bedellyon, and a stone called Onix.

¹⁷ And thou shalt fyll it wyth .iiij. rowes of stones. In the fyrste rowe shalbe a Sardios, a Topas and Smaragdus.

²⁰ The fourth: a Turcas, Onix and Iaspis. And they shalbe set in golde in their inclosers,

⁶ And they wrought Onix stones cloosed in ouches of golde & graued as sygnettes are grauen with the names of the chyldren of Israel,

¹³ the fourth rowe: a Turcas, an onix & a Iaspis) closed in ouches of gold in their inclosers.

³ And Dauid prepared plentye of yron for nayles to the dores, of the gates, and to ioyne with all, & aboundance of brasse without waighte, ⁴ & of Cedar trees withoute nombre, For the Zidons and they of Tire brought much Cedar wood to Dauid. ⁵ For Dauid thus thought: Salomon my sonne is younge and tender, and the house that is to be buylt for the Lorde, must exceade in greatnesse, that it maye be spoken of and praysed in all landes. ¹⁴ Behold in myne aduersite I haue prepared for the house of the Lorde an hundred thousand talentes of goulde, and a thousande talentes of syluer and as for brasse, and yron can not be numbred, it is so muche. And I haue prepared timbre and stone, and thou shalt prouyde more therto. ¹⁵ Moreouer thou hast worckmen ynowe & masons and carpenters to worke in stone & timbre, and all maner of wyse men, for whatsoeuer worke it be. ¹⁶ And of gould, siluer, brasse and yron there is no nombre. Vp therfore & set vpon it, and the Lorde shalbe wyth the.

¹⁴ and for all vesselles that shuld serue in the house of the Lorde. And appoynted hym, what wayghte of goulde shoulde serue for thynges of goulde thorowoute all vessels for whatsoeuer vse it serued: and what wayghte of syluer shoulde suffyse for all maner of vesselles of syluer, for whatsoeuer purpose they serued. ¹⁵ And the wayghte of the goulden candelstyckes, and of theyr lampes of goulde, the wayghte for euerye candelsticke, and for theyr lampes. And for the candelstyckes of syluer by wayght, bothe for the candelstycke & also for her lampes accordynge to the offyce of euery candelstycke. ¹⁶ And the waight of gould for the tables of shewe breade, table by table: and lykewyse syluer for the tables of syluer. ¹⁷ And for fleshehokes, basens and drynckynge pottes of pure goulde. And for cuppes of goulde by wayghte, cuppe by cuppe. And for cuppes of syluer by wayght, cuppe by cuppe. ¹⁸ And for the aulter of incense of tryed goulde by wayghte. And the similytude of the seate of the Cherubes that stretched oute theyr winges, and couered the Arcke of the couenaunte of the Lorde.

²⁰ And of this maner dyd Hezekiah thorow out all Iuda, and dyd that was good, ryght and trueth, before the Lorde hys God. ²¹ And in all the worckes that he beganne in the seruyce of the house of God, to seke hys God after the lawe and commaundemente, that dyd he wyth all his herte, and prospered.

¹⁶ No wedges of goulde of Ophir, no precious Onix stones, no Saphirs maye be compared vnto her.

¹⁰ Whatsoeuer thou takest in hande to do, that do wyth all thy power: for among the dead, wher as thou goest vnto, ther is nether worcke, councel, knowledge ner wysdome.

¹¹ Beholde thou pore, vexed and despysed: I will make thy walles of precious stones, & thy foundacyon of Saphires, ¹² thy wyndowes of Christal, thy gates of fyne cleare stone, and thy borders of pleasaunt stones.

³ For to theyr powers (I beare recorde) ye and beyonde theyr power, they were wyllynge of theyr owne accorde,

²³ And what soeuer ye do, do it hertelye as though ye dyd it to the Lord, and not vnto men

¹⁰ As euerye man hath receyued the gifte, minister the same one to another as good mynisters of the manifolde grace of God. ¹¹ Yf anye man speake let hym talke as though he spake the wordes of God. If any man mynistre, let hym do it as of the habilitie, whyche God ministreth vnto hym. That God in all thinges may be glorifyed thorowe IESUS Christ, to whom be prayse and domynyon for euer, and whyle the worlde standeth. Amen.

¹⁸ And the buyldyng of the wall of it was of Iaspar. And the citie was pure golde lyke vnto cleare glasse, ¹⁹ and the foundacyons of the wall of the cytye were garnyshed with all maner of precious stones. The first foundacyon was Iaspar, the seconde saphyre, the thyrde a calcedony, the fourth an emerald: ²⁰ the fyft sardonix: the .vi. sardeos: the .vij. chrysolite the .viij. beral: the .ix. a topas, the tenth a chrisoprasos: the .xi. a Iacint: and the .xij. an amatist. ²¹ The .xij. gates were .xij. pearles, euery gate was of one pearle, & the strete of the cytie was pure golde, as thorowe shynyng glasse.

²⁴ But kyng Dauid said to Ornan: not so, but I wil bye it for as much moneye as it is worthe. I wyll not take that, whiche is thine, for the Lord, and offer burntofferynges wythoute coste.

⁸ Lorde, I loue the habitacion of thy house, and the place where thy honoure dwelleth.

⁴ One thynge haue I desyred of the Lorde, which I wyll requyre: namelye, that I maye dwel in the house of the Lorde all the dayes of my lyfe, to beholde the fayre beutye of the Lorde, and to viset his temple.

¹ Vpon Githith, a Psalm of the sonnes of Corah. O howe amiable are thy dwellinges, thou Lord of hoostes?

¹⁰ For one daye in thy courte is better then a thousande. I had rather be a dore keper in the house of my God, then to dwell in the tentes of the vngodly.

¹ The songe of the steares. I was glad, when they sayed vnto me: we wyll go into the house of the Lorde. ² Oure fete shall stande in thy gates O Ierusalem. ³ Ierusalem is buylded as a cytye, that is at vnyte in it selfe. ⁴ For ther the tribes go vp, euen the tribes of the Lorde: to testyfye vnto Israel, to geue thanckes vnto the name of the Lorde. ⁵ For there is the seate of iudgmente, euen the seate of the house of Dauyd. ⁶ O praye for the peace of Ierusalem, they shall prospere that loue the. ⁷ Peace be wyth thy walles, and plenteousnes within thy palaces. ⁸ For my brethren and companions sakes, I wyll wysh the prosperite. ⁹ Yea because of the house of the Lord oure God, I wyll seke to do the good.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy substaunce, & with the firstlinges of all thyne encrease: ¹⁰ so shall thy barnes be filled with plenteousnesse, and thy presses shall flowe ouer with swete wyne.

²⁸ And they went to Ophir, & fet from thence gould, to the summe of .iiij. hundred and .xxij. talentes, and brought it to Salomon.

² speake vnto the children of Israel that they geue me an heueoffringe, & of euery man that geueth it willingly with his hert, ye shall take it. ³ And this is the heueoffringe whiche ye shall take of them: gold, siluer and brasse: ⁴ & Iacyncte coloure, scarlette, purpull, bysse, and gootes heere: ⁵ rams skynnes that are red, and the skynnes of taxus & sethim wood ⁶ oyle for lightes, and spices for anoyntynge oyle and for swete cense: ⁷ Onix stones and set stones for the Ephod and for the brestlappe. ⁸ And they shall make me a sanctuary that I maye dwell amonge them. ⁹ And I shall shewe the the facion of the habitacion and of all the ornamentes therof, euen so se that ye make it in all thinges.

And thys was the offeryng of Pagiell the sonne of Ocran. ⁷⁸ The .xij. daye, Ahira the sonne of Enan, chefe Lord among the chyldren of Nephthali offered. ⁷⁹ And his gyfte was: a syluer charger of an hundred & .xxx. sycles weyght: a syluer boule of .lxx. sycles of the holye sycle, both full of fyne floure myngled wyth oyle for a meatofferynge: ⁸⁰ & a golden spone of twentye sycles, ful of cens. ⁸¹ And a bullock, a ram and a lambe of one yere olde for burntofferinges ⁸² and an he goote for a synneofferyng: ⁸³ and for peaceofferynges, two oxen .v. rammes .v. he gootes and .v. lambes of one yere olde. And thys was the offerynge of Ahira, the sonne of Enan. ⁸⁴ Of thys maner was the dedicacyon of the alter, when it was anoynted: vnto the whyche was broughte of the prynces of Israell .xij. chargers of syluer .xij. syluer boules and .xij. spones of golde: ⁸⁵ euery charger contaynynge an hundred and .xxx. sycles of syluer, & euery boule .lxx. so that al the syluer of all the vessels, was twoo thousande and .iiij. hundred sycles of the holy sycle. ⁸⁶ And the .xij. golden spones whych were full of cens, contayned ten sycles a pece of the holy sycle: so that all the golde of the spones, was an hundred and .xx. sycles. ⁸⁷ All the oxen that were broughte for the burntofferynges were .xij. and the rammes .xij. & the lambes .xij. of a yere old a pece, wyth the meateofferynges: wyth he gootes for synneofferynges. ⁸⁸ And al the oxen of the peaceofferynges were .xxiiij. the rammes .lx. the gootes .lx. and lambes of a yere olde a pece .lx. & thys was the dedicacyon of the alter, after that it was anoynted. ⁸⁹ And when Moses was gone in to the tabernacle of wytnesse to speke with hym, he harde the voyce of one speakyng vnto him from of the mercyseate that was vpon the arck of wytnesse: euen from betwene the two cherubyns he spake vnto hym.

⁴ And whosoeuer remayneth yet in any maner of a place (where he is a straunger) let the men of hys place helpe him with syluer & golde, wt good & cattel, beside that which they willingly offer, for the house of God at Ierusalem. ⁵ Then gat vp the principal fathers of Iuda and Ben Iamin, & the priestes and Leuites, and all they whose sprete God had raysed to go vp, and to buylde the house of the Lord at Ierusalem. ⁶ And al they that were aboute them, strengthed their hand with vessels of syluer and golde, with good & catel, and Iewels, besyde that whiche they gaue of their owne frewyll.

⁶⁸ And certayne of the chefe fathers, when they came to the house of the Lorde at Ierusalem, they offered wyllyngly vnto the house of God, that it shoulde be set in his place, ⁶⁹ and gaue after their abylyte vnto the treasure of the worcke, one and threskore thousand drammes, and fyue thousande pounde of syluer and an hundred pryestes garmentes.

¹⁵ And that thou shouldest take with the, syluer and goulde, whiche the king & the Lordes of hys counsel geue of their owne good will vnto the God of Israel (whose habytacyon is at Ierusalem) ¹⁶ and all the syluer and goulde that thou canst fynd in al the countre of Babilon, with it that the people and pryestes geue of their owne good wil vnto the house of God at Ierusalem.

¹ To speake of the chyldren of Israel: in the nombre of them were auncyent heades & capitaynes of thousandes & hundredes, and offycers that serued the kyng in all thynge accordyng to the companyes that came in or wente out, moneth by moneth, thorouout all the monethes of the yeare. And euerye companye had .xxiiij. thousande. ² Ouer the fyrste companye in the fyrste moneth, was Iasoboam the sonne of Zabdyel. And in hys nombre were .xxiiij. thousande. ³ And the chefest of all the capytaynes in the host of the fyrste moneth was of the chyldren of Pharez. ⁴ Ouer the company of the second moneth Dodai an Ahohite, and in hys hoste was Makeloth a ruler. And in hys company were .xxiiij. thousande. ⁵ The chefe captayne of the thyrde host in the thyrde moneth, was Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada the prieste. And in his hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ⁶ This is that Banaiah mightye amonge thyrtye and aboue thyrtye. And in hys parte was Amizabad hys sonne. ⁷ The fourth capitayne in the fourth moneth was Asael the brother of Ioab, & Zabadiah hys sonne after hym. And in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ⁸ The fyfte capitayne in the fyft moneth was Samahut the Iezrahite: and in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ⁹ The sixte capitayne in the syxte moneth was Ira the sonne of Akes a Thekuite: & in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ¹⁰ The seuenth Capitayne in the seuenth moneth, was Helei the Phalonite, of the chyldren of Ephraim: & in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ¹¹ The eyghte capitayne in the eyghte monethe, was Sobocai an Husathite of the kynne of Sarah: & in hys host .xxiiij. thousand. ¹² The nynth Capitayne in the nynthe monethe, was Abiezer an Anathothite of the sonnes of Iemini: & in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ¹³ The tenth capytayne in the tenth monethe, was Mahari the Netophathite of the Zarahites: & in hys host .xxiiij. thousande. ¹⁴ The eleuenthe moneth, was Banaiah the Pharathonite of the chyldren of Ephraim: and in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousande. ¹⁵ The twelueth Capytayne in the twelueth moneth, was Heldai the Netophathite of Othoniel, and in hys hoste .xxiiij. thousand.

²⁵ Ouer the kynges treasure was Azmoth the sonne of Adiel. And ouer the treasure of the feldes, in the cytyes, villages and castelles, was Iehonathan, the sonne of Oziah.

³ The Gentyles shal come to thy light, & kynges to the brightnes that springeth forth vpon the. ⁴ Lyft vp thyne eyes, & loke round aboute the: All these gather them selues, and come to the. Sonnes shal come vnto the from farre, and doughters shal gather them selues to the on euery syde. ⁵ When thou seyst this, thou shalt maruel exceadingly, and thine hert shal be opened: when the power of the sea shalbe conuerted vnto the (that is) when the strength of the Gentiles shall come vnto the. ⁶ The multitude of Camels shall couer the, the dromedaries of Madian and Epha. Al they of Saba shal come, bringinge golde and incense, and shewinge the prayse of the Lorde. ⁷ All the catel of Cedar shalbe gathered vnto the, the rammes of Nabaioth shall serue the, to be offred vpon myne aulter, whiche I haue chosen, and in the house of my glory, whiche I haue garnyshed. ⁸ But what are these that fle here like the cloudes, and as the doues flyenge to their wyndowes? ⁹ The Iles also shall gather them vnto me, and specially the shippes of the sea: that they maye bringe the sonnes from farre, and their syluer and their goulde with them, vnto the name of the Lorde thy God, vnto the holye one of Israel, that hath glorifyed the. ¹⁰ Straungers shall buylde vp thy walles, and their kinges shall do thy seruice. For when I am angrie, I smyte the: & when it pleaseth me, I pardon the.

⁷ And let euery man do accordyng as he hath purposed in hys hert, not groundgingly, or of necessitie. For God loueth a chearefull geuer.

⁶⁹ and gaue after their abylyte vnto the treasure of the worcke, one and threskore thousand drammes, and fyue thousande pounde of syluer and an hundred pryestes garmentes.

⁷⁰ And certayne of the auncyent fathers gaue vnto the worcke. Hathirsatha gaue to the treasure a thousande drammes, fyfty basens, fyue hundred and thyrtye Priestes garmentes. ⁷¹ And some of the chefe fathers gaue vnto the treasure of the worcke, twentye thousande drammes, two thousande and two hundred pounde of syluer.

⁸ The sonnes of Laadan: the chefe was Iehiel, and then Zethan and Ioel, thre.

²¹ As concernynge the sonnes of Laadan whiche were Gersonites. Laadan had auncyent fathers. Laadan the Gersonite had Iehieli. ²² The sonnes of Iehieli: Zethan & Ioel his brother, which were ouer the treasures of the house of the Lorde.

¹⁰ and kepe the feaste of wekes vnto the Lord thy God, that thou gyue a frewylofferyng of thyne hande vnto the Lorde thy God accordynge as the Lord thy God hath blessed the. ¹¹ And reioyce before the Lorde thy God, both thou, thy sonne, thy daughter, thy seruaunt and thy mayd, & the Leuite that is wythin thy gates, & the straunger, the fatherles & the wedowes that are among you, in the place which the lord thy god hath chosen to make hys name dwel there.

⁹ Myne hert loueth the maynteners of the lawe in Israell, that are wyllynge amonge the people. Blesse the Lorde

⁶¹ And I praye God that youre hertes maye be sounde wyth the Lorde oure God, to walke in hys ordinaunces and to kepe hys lawes as we do thys daye.

¹⁷ I wote my God, that thou prouest the herte, and hast pleasure in playnesse. And in playnesse of myne herte I haue wyllynglye geuen all thys. And now I se thy people whiche are here in gladnesse, to offer wyllyngly to the.

³ In the daye of thy power shal thy people offer the frewyll offerynges wyth an holye worshyppe, the dewe of thy byrthe is of the wombe of the mornynge.

¹⁵ My son, if thy herte receaue wysdome, my herte also shal reioyce ¹⁶ yea my reines shalbe very gladde, if thy lyppes speake the thynge that is ryght.

⁶ And assone as he cometh home, he calleth together his louers and neyghboures, saiyng vnto them: reioyse with me, for I haue found my shepe whiche was lost.

¹¹ These thynges haue I spoken vnto you, that my ioye myght remayne in you, and that youre ioye myght be full.

¹² For yf there be fyrste a wyllynge mynde, it is accepted accordyng to that a man hath, and not accordynge to that he hath not.

⁷ And let euery man do accordyng as he hath purposed in hys hert, not groundgingly, or of necessitie. For God loueth a chearefull geuer. ⁸ God is able to make you ryche in al grace that ye in al thynges hauyng suffycyent vnto the vttermoste, maye be ryche vnto all maner good workes,

¹⁵ that ye maye be fauteles & pure, the sonnes of God wythout rebuke, in the middes of a croked and a peruerse nacyon, amonge whiche se that ye shine as lightes in the worlde, ¹⁶ holding fast the worde of life, vnto my reioysing in the daye of Christe, that I haue not runne in vayne, neyther haue laboured in vaine. ¹⁷ Yea, and though I be offered vp vpon the offeringe and sacrifyce of youre fayth: I reioyce, and reioyce wyth you al.

¹ Therfore my brethren dearlye beloued & lounged for my ioye & crowne, so continue in the Lord, ye beloued.

¹⁰ I reioyce in the Lorde greatly, that nowe at the last ye are reuiued agayne to care for me, in that wherin ye were also carefull, but ye lacked opportunitie.

⁶ But nowe lately when Timotheus came from you vnto vs, and declared to vs youre fayth & your loue, & howe that ye haue good remembraunce of vs alwayes, desyring to se vs as we desyre to se you. ⁷ Therfore brethren we had consolacion in you and in all our aduersyte and necessitie, thorow your fayth. ⁸ For nowe are we alyue, yf ye stande stedfast in the Lorde. ⁹ For what thankes can we recompence to God again for you, ouer al the ioy that we ioy for your sakes before oure God

²⁸ And he said: thou shalt be called Iacob no more, but Israel. For thou hast wresteled with God and hast preuayled.

²⁰ And he made ther an aulter, & there called vpon the myghty God of Israel.

¹⁵ And he sayde. Blessed be the Lorde God of Israel, which hath fulfylled wyth hys hande, that he spake wyth hys mouthe vnto Dauid my father sayinge:

²⁰ And Dauid sayde to all the congregacion: blesse the Lorde youre God. And all the congregacyon blessed the Lorde God of theyr fathers, & stouped & bowed them selues vnto the Lorde, & to the Kynge.

⁴ And he sayde: blessed be the Lorde God of Israell which spake wyth hys mouthe to my father Dauid, & hath fulfylled it wyth handes, for God sayde:

²⁶ And the fourth daye they assembled in the valeye of blessynge, for there they blessed the Lord. And therfore they called the name of the sayd place the valeie of blessynge vnto thys daye. ²⁷ And also the men of Iuda and Ierusalem returned & Iehosaphat amonge the thyckest of them, for to go again to Ierusalem wyth gladnesse: for the Lorde hath made them to reioyse of their enemyes. ²⁸ And they came to Ierusalem wyth psalteries & harpes and trompettes, euen vnto the house of the Lorde.

¹⁸ Blessed be the Lorde God, euen the God of Israell, whiche onely doeth wonderous thinges. ¹⁹ And blessed be the name of his maiesty for euer, and al landes be fulfilled with his glory. Amen, Amen.

⁵² Thankes be too the Lorde for euermore: Amen: Amen.

¹ Of Dauid. Prayse the Lorde O my soule: & all that is within me prayse hys holy name. ² Prayse the Lord O my soule & forget not all his benefites.

¹ Of Dauid. I wyll geue thankes vnto the. O Lord, wyth my whole herte, euen before the Gods, wil I singe prayses vnto the.

² whyle I lyue will I prayse the Lorde: yea, as longe as I haue any beyng, I will sing prayses vnto my God.

¹⁶ Yet art thou oure father: For Abraham knoweth vs not, neither is Israel acquainted with vs. But thou Lorde art oure father and redemer and thy name is euerlastinge.

¹² Wyth that the sprete toke me vp. And I hearde the noyse of a greate russhynge and remouynge of the most blessed glory of the Lorde out of his place.

⁹ after this manner therfore pray ye. Our father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name.

³ Geue vs oure daylye breade euermore.

⁷ To all you at Rome beloued of God, and sainctes by callynge Grace be wyth you and peace from God our father, and from our Lorde Iesus Christ.

¹⁵ they are the sonnes of God. For ye haue not receiued the spirite of bondage to feare anye more: but ye haue receiued the spirite of adoption, where by we crye Abba father.

³ Blessed be God the father of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, which hath blessed vs wyth all maner of spyrytuall blessynges in heauenlye thynges by Christe,

²⁰ Vnto God and oure father be prayse for euermore. Amen.

¹⁶ Our Lorde Iesu Christe hym selfe, and God oure father whiche hath loued vs and hath geuen vs euerlastynge consolatyon and good hope thorow grace,

¹⁷ So then vnto God, kyng euerlastyng, immortall, inuysyble, and wyse onely, be honoure & prayse for euer and euer. Amen.

³ Blessed be God the father of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, whiche thorowe his aboundaunt mercye begat vs agayne vnto lyuely hope by the resurreccyon of Iesus Christe from death,

¹² sayinge wyth a loud voyce: Worthy is the lamb that was kylled to receiue power, and riches, and wysdome, and strength, and honoure, & glorye and blessing.

¹ In the beginnynge GOD created heauen and erth.

¹⁹ blessed him saying: Blessed be Abram vnto the most highest God, possessor of heauen & earth.

²² And Abram answered the kinge of Sodome: I lyfte vp my hande vnto the Lord God moste high possessor of heauen & earth,

²⁹ And therto he that geueth victorye to Israel, wyl not begyle nor repente: for he is not a man, that can repent.

⁵ And the Leuites, Iesua, Cadmiel Bani, Hasabniah, Serebiah, Hodiah, Sebaniah, Phathahiah, sayde: stande vp, prayse the Lorde youre God for euer, & let thankes be geuen vnto the name of thy glorye, which excelleth all thankesgeuing & prayse.

²² Goulde is brought oute of the Northe, but the prayse & honoure of Gods feare commeth from God hym self.

¹³ Be thou exalted, Lorde in thyne owne strength, so wyll we synge and prayse thy power.

⁴ The voyce of the Lorde is mighty in operacyon, the voice of the Lorde is a glorius voyce.

³ Gyrde the with thy swerde vpon thy thyghe (O thou mightye) with worshippe and renowne. ⁴ Good lucke haue thou with thyne honor, ryde on with the trueth, mekenesse & righteousnes: and thy righthand shall teach the wonderfull thynges.

¹⁰ Be styll then and confesse that I am God I will be exalted amonge the Heythen, and I will be exalted vpon earth.

⁹ The prynces of the people are gathered together vnto the God of Abraham: for God is farre hyer exalted, then the mighty lordes of the earth.

⁵ Set vp thy selfe, O God, aboue the heauens, and thy glory aboue al the earthe.

¹¹ Set vp thy selfe, O God, aboue the heauens, and thi glory aboue al the earth.

¹ The Lord is king, the earth may be glad therof: yea, the multitude of the Iles may be glad therof.

⁹ For thou lorde art the most hyest ouer all the earth, thou arte exalted farre aboue all goddes.

¹ A Psalme. O synge vnto the Lorde a new song, for he hath done maruelous thynges. With hys owne ryght hande and with his holy arme hathe he gotten the victory.

¹ The Lorde is kynge, be the people neuer so vnpaciente: he sytteth vpon the Cherubyns, be the earth neuer so vnquiete.

¹ Prayse the Lorde O my soule: O Lord my God, thou art become excedinge glorious, thou arte clothed with maiesty and honoure.

¹⁵ For ye are the blessed of the Lord, whych made heauen and earth. ¹⁶ Al the whole heauens are the Lordes, but the earth hath he geuen vnto the chyldren of men.

¹ A prayse of Dauid. I wyll magnifie the, O God my kyng, I wil prayse thy name for euer & euer.

¹² That thy power, thy glory & mightinesse of thy kyngedome myghte be knowen vnto men. ¹³ Thy kyngdome is an euerlastyng kyngedome, and thy dominion endureth thorowe out all ages.

¹⁰ And therfore get the soone into some rock, & hyde the in the grounde from the sighte of the fearful iudge, & from the glorye of his mageste: ¹¹ Which casteth doune the hygh lokes of presumptuous personnes, & bryngeth lowe the pryde of man, & he only shall be exalted in the daye.

⁴ & then shall ye saye: Let vs geue thankes vnto the Lorde, and call vpon his name, & declare his councels amonge the people, and kepe them in remembraunce for his name is excellente.

⁵ For thus sayeth God the Lord vnto hym (euen he that the made heauens, and spred them abrode & seth forth the earth with her increase, whych geueth breath vnto the people that is in it, & to them that dwell therin)

¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde: Heauen is my seat, and the earth is my fote stole Where shal nowe the house stande, that ye wyll buylde vnto me. And where shalbe the place, that I dwell in?

¹⁰ But the Lorde is a true God, a lyuynge God, and an euerlastinge kyng. Yf he be wroth, the earthe shaketh: all the Gentiles maye not abyde his indygnacyon. ¹¹ As for theyr Goddes, it maye well be sayde of them: they are Goddes, that made neyther heauen nor earthe: therfore shall they peryshe from the earthe, & from al thynges vnder heauen ¹² But (as for oure God) he made the earth with his power, and with hys wysdom hath he fynished the whole compasse of the worlde, wyth hys discrecion hath he spred oute the heauens.

⁵ I am he that made the earthe, the men, & the catell that are vpon the grounde, with my great power and outstretched arme, & haue geuen it vnto whome it pleased me.

³ O how greate are hys tokens, and howe myghtie are hys wonders? His kyngedome is an euerlastynge kyngedome, and hys power lasteth for euer & euer.

³⁰ and sayde: Thys is the greate cytye of Babilon, which I my selfe (wyth my power & strengthe) haue made a kynges courte, for the honour of my magestye.

³² thou shalte be cast oute of mens companye: thy dwelling shalbe with the beastes of the felde, so that thou shalte eate grasse lyke as an oxe, tyll seuen yeares be come & gone ouer the: euen vntill thou knoweste, that the hyest hath power vpon the kyngdoms of men, and that he may geue them, vnto whom it pleaseth hym.

³⁴ When this tyme was passed, I Nabuchodonosor lyfte vp myne eyes vnto heauen, and myne vnderstandynge was restored vnto me agayne. Then gaue I thanckes vnto the hyghest. I magnifyed and praysed hym that lyueth for euermore, whose power endureth alwaye, and his kingdome from one generacion to another: ³⁵ in comparison of whom al they that dwel vpon the earth, are to be reputed as nothinge. He handleth accordinge to hys wyl, among the powers of heauen & amonge the inhabytours of the earthe: and there is none that maye resyste hys hande, or say: what doest thou?

¹³ And lead vs not into temptaciou. But delyuer vs from euyll. For thyne is the kingdome and the power, and the glorye for euer Amen.

¹⁵ whiche appearynge (when the tyme is come) he shal shew that is blessed and myghtye onelye, kynge of kynges, & Lord of Lordes, ¹⁶ whiche onelye hath immortalitie, and dwelleth in lyght that no man can attayne, whome neuer man sawe, neyther can se, to whom be honoure and rule euerlastynge. Amen.

³ Whyche sonne beyng the bryghtnes of hys glorye, and verye Image of his substaunce, bearinge vp al thinges wyth the worde of hys power, hath in his owne persone pourged our synnes, and is sitting on the right hand of the maiestie on hygh,

²⁵ that is to saye, to God oure sauyoure whiche onelye is wise be glorye maiestye, dominion and power, now and for euer. Amen.

¹⁰ the .xxiiij. elders fel doune before him that sate on the throne, and worshypped him that lyueth for euer, and cast their crounes before the throne, saiynge: ¹¹ thou art worthy Lorde to receiue glory and honour and power, for thou hast created al thinges, and for thy wylles sake they are and were created.

¹² sayinge wyth a loud voyce: Worthy is the lamb that was kylled to receiue power, and riches, and wysdome, and strength, and honoure, & glorye and blessing. ¹³ And al creatures whiche are in heauen, and on the earth, and vnder the earth, and in the sea, and al that are in them hearde I saiynge: blessing, honour, glory, and power be vnto him that sytteth vpon the seate, and to the Lambe for euermore.

⁹ After this I behelde, and lo a greate multitude (which no man coulde numbre) of al nacions and people, and tonges, stode before the seate, and before the lambe, clothed wyth longe whyte garmentes, and palmes in their handes, ¹⁰ and cried with a loude voyce, saying: saluacion be ascribed to him that sitteth vpon the seate of our God, and vnto the lamb. ¹¹ And all the Angelles stode in the compasse of the seate, and of the elders, and of the .iiij. beastes, and fell before the seate on theyr faces, & worshipped God ¹² saying, Amen: Blessing and glory, wisdome, and thankes, and honoure, and power & mighte, be vnto our God for euermore: Amen.

¹⁵ And the seuenth angell blewe, and there were made greate voyces in heauen, sayinge: the kyngdomes of thys worlde are oure Lordes and hys Christes, & he shall raygne for euer more.

¹ And after that, I heard the voice of much people in heauen saying Alleluia. Saluacion and glory and honoure, & power be ascribed to the Lorde oure God,

¹⁸ But remembre the Lord thy God, how that it is he which gaue the power to do manfullye, for to make good the promises whiche he sware to thy fathers, as it is come to passe this day.

⁷ The Lorde maketh pore, and maketh ryche, bryngeth lowe, and heueth vp on hye. ⁸ He reyseth vp the poore out of the duste, and lyfteth vp the begger from the dong hill: to set them among princes, and to enheret them with the seate of glory. For the pyllers of the earth are the Lordes, and he hath set the rounde worlde vpon them.

¹² wisdome and knowledge shalbe geuen the, and I wyll geue the treasure, rychesse, & glorye also, that amonge the kynges before the or after the, none was or shalbe lyke the.

⁹ For the eyes of the Lorde beholde all the earthe, to strength the hertes of them that are hole with him. Herin thou hast done folyshly, and therfore from henceforth thou shalt haue warre.

⁶ and sayde: Lorde God of oure fathers, arte not thou God in heauen, & raygnest not thou on all the kyngedomes of the Heathen? And in thyne hande is power and might, that noman can stande before the.

¹⁹ If men wyll speake of strength, he is the strongest of all: yf men wyll speake of ryghtuousnes, who darre be my recorde.

¹⁰ and the Lorde turned hym vnto Iob, when he prayed for his frendes. Yea the Lorde gaue Iob twyse as muche as he had a fore.

³¹ For who is God, but the Lord? Or who hath any strength, but our God? ³² It is God that gyrded me with strength, and made my way vncorrupt.

⁸ The Lord is the strength of his people, he is the defender and Sauioure of his anoynted.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. Ascribe vnto the Lorde, O ye mightie, ascribe vnto the Lord worship and strength.

¹¹ The Lorde shall geue power vnto hys people, the Lord shall geue his people the blessyng of peace.

¹¹ God spake once a worde, twyse haue I hearde the same: that power belongeth vnto God

³⁴ Ascrybe ye the power vnto God, his glory is in Israel, and his might in the cloudes. ³⁵ God is wonderfull in his Sanctuary, he is the God of Israel, he will geue strength and power vnto hys people. Blessed be God.

⁶ For promocyon commeth neyther from the East ner from the weste, ner yet from the wyldernesse ⁷ And why? God is the Iudge: he putteth downe one, and setteth vp another.

⁷ Which taketh vp the simple out of the dust and lyfteth the poore out of the myre. ⁸ That he may sette him amonge the prynces, euen amonge the prynces of hys people.

¹ Of Dauid. Blessed be the Lorde my refuge which teacheth my handes to warre, and my fyngers too fyght. ² My hope and my castell, my defence and my deliuerer, my shylde in whome I trust, which gouerneth the people that is vnder me.

¹⁸ Riches and honoure are with me, yea, excellent goodes & righteousnes.

²² The blessing of the Lord maketh rich men, as for carefull trauayle, it doth nothynge therto.

¹⁹ For vnto whom soeuer God geueth ritches, goodes and power, he geueth it him to enioy it, to take it for hys porcyon, and to be refreshed of his laboure: thys is nowe the gyfte of God.

²⁹ but that he geueth strength vnto the weery, and power vnto the faynte?

¹³ And euen he am I from the begynnynge, & there is none that can take any thynge out of my hande. And what I do, can no man chaunge.

²⁴ sayinge: Verelye in the Lorde is my ryghtuousnes and strength. To hym shall men come: but all they that thyncke scorne of hym, shalbe confounded.

¹⁰ In the beginning of a thynge, I shewe the ende therof: & I tell before, thynges that are not yet come to passe. With one worde is my deuyce accomplyshed, & fulfylleth all my pleasure.

¹⁸ O kynge, God the hyest gaue vnto Nabuchodonosor thy father, the dignite of a kynge with worshippe and honoure, ¹⁹ so that al people, kynredes and tunge stode in awe & feare of him, by reason of the hye estate, that he had lente him. For why, he slewe whom he wold: he smote, whom it pleased hym. Agayne, whom he wolde, he set vp: and whome he lyst, he put doune. ²⁰ But because hys herte was so proude, and hys stomacke set so fast vnto wilfulnesse: he was deposed from hys kingly trone, & his magesty was taken from hym. ²¹ He was shote oute from amonge men, his herte was lyke a beastes herte, and hys dwellynge was wyth the wylde asses: he was fayne to eate grasse lyke an oxe, and hys body was wet with the dewe of the heauen: tyll he knewe, that the hyest had power vpon the kingdomes of men, and setteth ouer them, whome he lyst.

²⁶ My commaundement is, in al my dominion & kingedome, that men feare and stande in awe of Daniels God. For he is the liuinge God, whiche abydeth euer: his kingedome shall not fayle, and hys power is euerlasting.

¹⁸ And Iesus came and spake vnto them saiynge: all power is geuen vnto me in heauen and in earth.

⁵¹ He sheweth strength with his arme, he scattereth them that are proude in the ymagynacion of their hertes. ⁵² He putteth doune the mightye from their seates, and exalteth them of low degre. ⁵³ He fylleth the hongry with good thinges, & sendeth away the ryche empty.

¹¹ Iesus aunswered: Than couldest haue no power at all agaynst me, except it were geuen the from aboue. Therfore he that delyuered me vnto the, is more in synne.

³⁵ Other who hath geuen vnto hym fyrst that he myghte be recompensed agayne? ³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

¹⁶ that he woulde graunt you accordinge to the ryches of his glorie, that ye maye be strengthed wyth mighte by his spirite in the inner man,

²⁰ Vnto hym that is able to do excedinge aboundantly aboue all that we are or thinke, accordinge to the power that worketh in vs,

¹³ I can do al thinges thorowe the helpe of Christe whiche strengtheth me.

¹¹ strengthed wyth all myghte thorowe his glorious power, vnto al pacience & longe suffering with ioyfulnes,

¹⁷ sayinge: we geue the thankes Lord GOD almyghty, whyche arte and wast, and arte to come, for thou hast receyued thy greate myght and hast reigned.

¹ O geue thankes vnto the Lord, and cal vpon his name: tel the people what thynges he hath done.

¹ Prayse the euerlastynge. O geue thankes vnto the Lorde, for he is gracyous, and hys mercy endureth for euer.

²³ I thanke the, and prayse the (O thou God of my fathers) that thou haste lente me wysdom and strength, & hast shewed me the thyng, that we desyred of the, for thou haste opened the kynges matter vnto me.

¹⁴ Thankes be vnto God whiche alwayes geueth vs the victorye in Christ, and openeth the sauour of hys knowledge by vs in euerye place.

¹⁶ Thankes be vnto God, which put in the hert of Titus the same good mynde towarde you.

¹⁵ Thankes be vnto God for hys vnspakeable gyfte.

¹³ For thys cause thanke we God wythout ceasyng, because that when ye receiued of vs the word, wher with God was preached, ye receiued it not as the worde of man: but euen as it was in dede, the worde of God: whiche worketh in you that beleue.

²² & thys stone whyche I haue sette vp an ende, shall be Goddes house: and of all that thou shalte gyue me, wyll I gyue the tenth vnto the.

¹⁰ I am not worthy of the leaste of all the mercies & trueth whyche thou hast shewed vnto thy seruaunt. For wyth my stafe came I ouer thys Iordane, & now haue I goten two droues.

¹⁸ Then went kynge Dauid & set hym doune before the Lorde, and sayde: What am I Lorde Iehouah, and what is my kynne, that thou shuldest haue broughte me this farre forth?

⁹ And the people reioysed that they were so wyllynge: for wyth a pure herte they were wyllynge vnto the Lorde. And therto Dauid the kynge reioysed with great gladnesse.

¹⁰ For all the beastes of the felde are myne, and thousandes of cattell vppon the hylles. ¹¹ I know al the foules vpon the mountaynes, and the wylde beastes of the felde are in my sight. ¹² If I be hongry, I wyll not tell the: for the whole worlde is myne, & all that therein is.

¹ Not vnto vs, O Lorde not vnto vs. but vnto thy name geue the praise for thy louing mercye & faythfulnesse.

³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

⁹ For I am the leste of al the Apostles, whiche am not worthy to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the congregation of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am that I am. And his grace which is in me, was not in vaine, but I laboured more aboundantly then they al, not I but the grace of God which is with me.

² Vpon some sonday let euerye one of you put a syde at home, and laye vp whatsoeuer he thinketh meate that there be no gatheringes when I come.

⁵ not that we are suffyciente of our selues to thynke any thynge as it were of our selues, but our ablenes cometh of God,

⁹ And he sayde vnto me: my grace is suffycyent for the. For my strengthe is made perfecte thorowe weakenes. Very gladly therfor wil I reioyce of my weakenes, that the strength of Christe maye dwell in me ¹⁰ Therfore haue I delectacyon in infyrmities, in rebukes, in nede, in persecutions, in anguyshe, for Christes sake. For when I am weake, then am I stronge. ¹¹ I am made a fole in bostynge my selfe. Ye haue compelled me: I ought to haue bene commended of you. For in nothynge was I inferyor vnto the chiefe Apostles. Thoughe I be nothynge

¹³ For it is God, whyche worketh in you, both the wyll and also the dede, euen of good wyl.

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euerye perfecte gyfte, is from aboue and commeth doune from the father of lyght wyth whome is no varyablenes, neyther is he chaunged vnto darkenes.

¹⁰ the .xxiiij. elders fel doune before him that sate on the throne, and worshypped him that lyueth for euer, and cast their crounes before the throne, saiynge:

⁹ And Iacob sayd vnto Pharao: the dayes of my pilgremage are an hundred and .xxx. yeres. Fewe & euell haue the dayes of my lyfe bene, & haue not attayned vnto the yeres of the lyfe of my fathers in the dayes of their pilgremages.

²³ Wherfore the Land shall not be solde for euer, bycause that the land is myne, & ye but straungers and soiourners wyth me:

² He commeth vp and falleth awaye lyke a floure. He flyeth as it were a shadowe, and neuer continueth in one state.

¹² Heare my prayer O Lorde, and consyder my callynge: shewe not thy selfe as though thou sawest not my teares. For I am a straunger and pilgrymme wyth the, as all my forefathers were.

⁹ For when thou art angrye, all oure dayes are gone, we brynge our yeares to an ende, as it were a tale that is tolde.

¹¹ My dayes are gone lyke a shadowe, and I am wythered lyke grasse.

¹⁹ I am a straunger vpon earth, O hide not thy commaundementes fro me.

⁴ Man is like a thing of naught, hys tyme passeth awaye like a shadow.

¹² For who knowth what is good for man lyuynge, in the dayes of hys vayne life, whych is but a shadowe? Or, who wyll tell a man, what shall happen after him vnder the Sunne.

⁶ The same voyce spake: Now crye. And I sayde: what shall I crye? Then spake yt: that all flesh is grasse, and that all the bewtye therof, is as the floure of the felde. ⁷ When the grasse is withered, the floure falleth awaye. Euen so is the people as grasse, when the breath of the Lorde bloweth vpon them. ⁸ Neuerthelesse whether the grasse wyther, or the floure fade awaye: Yet the worde of oure God endureth for euer. Moreouer the voyce cried thus:

¹³ And they all dyed in fayth, and receyued not the promyses: but sawe them a farre of, & beleued them; and saluted them: and confessed that they were straungers and pylgrems on the earthe. ¹⁴ They that saye suche thynges, declare that they seke a countreye. ¹⁵ Also yf they had bene myndefull of that countreye from whence they came oute, they had leasure to haue returned agayne. ¹⁶ But nowe they desyre a better, that is to saye an heauenlye. Wherfor God is not ashamed of them euen to be called theyr God: for he hath prepared for them a cytye.

¹⁴ and yet can not tell what shall happen to morowe. For what thynge is youre lyfe? It is euen a vapoure that appeareth for a lyttel tyme, and then vanysheth awaye:

¹¹ Dearely beloued, I beseche you as straungers and pylgremes, obstayne from fleshely lustes, which fyght agaynste the soule,

¹⁴ For what am I? and what is my people? that we shulde obtayne strengthe to be so wyllynge? But all is of the, and of that we receyued of thyne hand we haue geuen the.

¹⁰ And Azariah the chefe prieste of the house of Zadock aunswered hym and sayde: sense they beganne to bringe the heaue offeringes into the house of the Lorde, we haue eaten and had ynough, and yet lefte aboundaunce, for the Lorde hath blessed his people, and therof is thys heape lefte.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. The earth is the Lordes, & all that therin is: the compase of the world, & al that dwell therein.

⁸ But this woulde she not knowe, where as I yet gaue her corne, wyne, oyle, syluer & gold, whiche she hath hangeth vpon Baal.

¹⁶ Then came the fyrste saiynge: Lorde, thy pounde hath encreased ten pounde.

² And thinke on all the waye whych the lord thy God ledde the this .xl. yere in the wildernesse, for to humble the and to proue the, to wete what was in in thyne herte, whether thou wouldest kepe his commaundements or no,

⁷ But the Lorde sayde vnto Samuel: loke not on his fashion nor on the height of hys stature, for I haue refused hym. Because it is not as man seyth. For man loketh on the outward apperaunce, but the Lorde beholdeth the harte.

⁹ And thou Salomon my sonne: knowe God thy father, and serue hym with a pure hert, and lust of soule. For the Lorde searcheth all hertes, and vnderstandeth all the Imaginacyons of thoughtes. If thou shalte seke hym, he wylbe founde of the: But & yf thou forsake hym, he wyll caste the of for euer.

⁹ Oh let the wickednes of the vngodly come to an ende: but maynteyne the iust, thou rightuous God, that triest the very hertes and the reynes.

² Euen he that leadeth an vncorrupt life: that doth the thing which is right, and that speaketh the trueth from hys hert.

⁶ But lo, thou hast a pleasure in the trueth, and hast shewed me secrete wisdome.

²⁰ The Lord abhorreth a fayned hert, but he hath pleasur in them that are vndefiled.

⁸ The Lorde aborreth the sacryfyce of the vngodlye, but the prayer of the rightuous is acceptable vnto hym. ⁹ The waye of the vngodlye is an abhomynacyon vnto the Lorde, but who so foloweth rightuousnesse, hym he loueth.

² A man thynketh al his waies to be cleane, but it is the Lord that fashyoneth the mindes

³ Lyke as syluer is tryed in the fyre and golde in the fornace, euen so doeth the Lorde proue the hertes.

² Euery man thynketh hys owne waye to be ryght, but the Lord iudgeth the herts.

¹⁰ Euen I the Lorde search out the grounde of the herte, & trye the reynes, and rewarde euery man accordinge to hys wayes, and acordynge to the fruyte of his councels.

⁴⁷ Iesus sawe Nathanael comminge to him and sayde of him: Beholde a right Israelyte, in whom is no gyle.

¹⁶ And therfore studye I to haue a cleare conscience towarde God, and towarde man also.

¹² Oure reioysinge is this, the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes and Godly purenes, and not in fleshely wysdome, but by the grace of God, we haue had oure conuersation in the worlde, and moste of all to youwardes.

¹⁰ Ye are wytnesses, and so is God, howe holily and iustlye and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you that beleue

⁷ And we haue greate ioye, and consolation ouer thy loue: For by the (brother) the sainctes hertes are conforted.

²⁰ Euen so brother, let me enioye the in the Lorde. Comforte my bowelles in the Lord.

¹² For the word of God is quicke and myghty in operacion, and sharper then anye two edged swerde, and entreth through, euen vnto the diuiding a sonder of the soule and the spirite, and of the ioyntes and the marie, and iudgeth the thoughtes and the ententes of the herte:

²³ And I will kyl her chyldren wyth death. And all the congregacions shal know, that I am he, whiche searched the reynes and hertes. And I will geue vnto euery one of you according vnto youre workes.

⁵ And whan the Lord saw that the wekednesse of man was encreased vpon the erth, & that al the ymaginacion & thoughtes of his hert was only euell contynually,

⁶ And he sayed: I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob. And Moses hyd hys face for he was afrayed to loke vpon God.

¹⁵ And God spake further vnto Moyses: thus shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel: the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, & the God of Iacob hath sent me vnto you: this is my name for euer, and thys is my memorial thorowout al generations.

⁵ that they may beleue that the Lorde God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the god of Isaac, and the God of Iacob hathe appeared vnto the.

⁶ And the Lorde the God wyll circumcise thine hert & the herte of thy sede for to loue the Lord thy God wyth al thyne hert & all thy soule, that thou mayst lyue.

¹⁷ Lord, thou hearest the desyrous longing of the poore: theyr hert is sure, that thine eare herkeneth therto.

¹⁰ Make me a cleane hert, O God, & renue a right sprete within me.

¹¹³ Samech. I hate the vngodly, but thy law do I loue.

¹⁶⁶ Lord, I loke for thy sauynge healthe, and do after thy commaundementes.

²³ Now I knowe (O Lorde) that it is not in mans power to ordre hys owne wayes, or to rule hys owne steppes and goinges.

³⁹ And I wyll geue them one herte and one waye, that they maye feare me all the dayes of their lyfe, that they and their children after them maye prospere.

³² I am Abrahams God, and Isaacks God. & the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the liuynge.

¹³ The God of Abraham Isaac and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified hys sonne Iesu, whom ye delyuered and denyed in the presence of Pylate, when he had iudged hym to be lowsed.

⁶ and am surelye certifyed of this, that he whyche began a good worke in you, shall go forth wyth it vntyll the daye of Iesus Christe,

⁹ And this I praye, that youre loue maye increase more and more in knowledge, and in al fealinge, ¹⁰ that ye myght accepte thinges moste excellent, that ye might be pure and such as should hurte no mannes conscience, vntyll the daye of Christe, ¹¹ fylled with the fruites of rightuousnes, which fruites come by Iesus Christ vnto the glory and laude of God.

¹¹ God him selfe our father, and our Lord Iesus Christ guide oure iorney to you:

¹⁶ Our Lorde Iesu Christe hym selfe, and God oure father whiche hath loued vs and hath geuen vs euerlastynge consolatyon and good hope thorow grace, ¹⁷ comforte youre hertes, and stablyshe you in all doctryne and good doynge.

²¹ make you perfecte in all good workes, to do hys wyl, workynge in you that whiche is pleasaunte in hys syghte thorowe Iesus Christe. To whom be prayse for euer whyle the worlde endureth. Amen.

¹ And Dauid kynge sayde vnto all the congregacion: God hath specyallye chosen Salomon my sonne which is yet younge and tender, and the worcke is great for the house is not for man, but for the Lorde God. ² Moreouer I haue prepared with al my myghte for the house of God, golde for thynges of goulde, and syluer for thynges of syluer, brasse for thynges of brasse, yron for thynges of yron, and wood for thynges of wood: & onykes stones, set stones, and of other gay stones, and all maner of precyouse stones, and of marbre great aboundaunce.

¹ Of Salomon. Geue the king thy iudgement, O God, and thy righteousnesse vnto the kynges sonne.

⁸⁰ O let myne herte be vndefyled in thy statutes that I be not ashamed.

²⁶ And the man bowed him self, & worship shypped the Lord,

⁴⁸ And I bowed my selfe. & worshypped the Lorde, & blessed the Lorde God of my master Abraham which had brought me the ryght waye, to take my masters brothers doughter vnto hys sonne.

³¹ & the people beleued. And when they hearde that the Lord had visited the children of Israell and had loked vpon their tribulation they bowed them selues and worshypped.

³¹ And when Israel sawe that myghty hande which the Lorde had shewed vpon the Egypcians they feared the Lorde: & beleued both the Lorde, and also hys seruaunte Moses.

³³ And the aunswere pleased the chyldren of Israel well, and they praysed GOD and dyd not entende to go agaynste them in battayle, to destroye the lande which the chyldren of Ruben and Gad dwelte in.

¹⁸ And when Samuel called vnto the Lorde, the Lorde sent thunder & rayne the same daye. And all the people feared the Lord and Samuel excedynglye.

³⁶ Blessed be the Lorde God of Israel for euer and euer, and al nacyons saye Amen, so praysing the lord.

²¹ And he gaue the people counsell, & set the syngers of the Lorde, & them that praysed in holy apparel, to go out before the army and to saye: prayse the Lorde, for hys mercye lasteth euer.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. Ascribe vnto the Lorde, O ye mightie, ascribe vnto the Lord worship and strength. ² Geue the Lord the honour of his name bow your selues to the holy magesty of the Lord,

⁶ O come, let vs worshippe & bowe doune our selfes: Let vs knele before the Lord our maker.

² O lyfte vp youre handes in the Sanctuary, and prayse the Lorde.

¹⁹ Prayse the Lord ye house of Israel, praise the Lorde ye house of Aaron. ²⁰ Prayse the Lorde, ye house of Leui, ye that feare the Lorde, prayse the Lorde. ²¹ Praysed be the Lord out of Sion, whych dwelleth at Ierusalem. Praise the euerlastynge.

¹ A prayse of Dauid. I wyll magnifie the, O God my kyng, I wil prayse thy name for euer & euer. ² Euery daye wil I geue thankes vnto the, & praise thy name for euer and euer. ³ Great is the Lord, & maruelous worthy to be praysed, there is no ende of his greatenesse. ⁴ One generacion shall prayse thy workes vnto another, and declare thy power. ⁵ As for me I will be talkynge of thy worshyp, thy glory, thy prayse, and wonderous workes. ⁶ So that men shal speake of the myght of thy maruelous actes, and tell of thy greatenes. ⁷ The memorial of thyne aboundant kyndnes shalbe shewed, & men shall synge of thy righteousnesse. ⁸ The Lord is gracious and merciful, longe sufferyng, and of great goodnesse. ⁹ The Lorde is louynge vnto euery man, & hys mercy is ouer all hys workes. ¹⁰ All thy workes prayse the (O Lorde) and thy saynctes geue thankes vnto the. ¹¹ They shew the glory of the kyngdome, & talke of thy power. ¹² That thy power, thy glory & mightinesse of thy kyngedome myghte be knowen vnto men. ¹³ Thy kyngdome is an euerlastyng kyngedome, and thy dominion endureth thorowe out all ages. ¹⁴ The Lord vpholdeth all such as shoulde fall, and lifteth vp all those that be doune. ¹⁵ The eyes of all wayte vpon the, and thou geuest them their meate in due season. ¹⁶ Thou openest thyne hande, and fyllest all thinges liuing with plenteousnesse. ¹⁷ The Lord is righteous in all his wayes, and holy in all hys workes. ¹⁸ The Lord is nye vnto them that call vpon him, yea, al such as call vpon hym faithfully. ¹⁹ He fulfilleth the desire of them that feare him, he heareth their crie, and helpeth them. ²⁰ The Lord preserueth all theym that loue hym, but scatreth abroade all the vngodly. ²¹ My mouth shall speake the prayse of the Lord, and let all flesh geue thankes vnto his holy name for euer and euer. Prayse the euerlastynge.

¹³ let them prayse the name of the Lord, for his name only is excellent, and his prayse aboue heauen and earth. ¹⁴ He exalteth the horne of his people, all hys saynctes shall prayse hym, the chyldren of Israell, euen the people that serueth him. Prayse the euerlastyng.

²¹ My sonne, feare thou the Lord and the kyng, and kepe no company with the sclaunderous:

¹⁷ Honoure all men. Loue brotherlye felowship. Feare God, and honour the kynge.

¹³ and the meatofferyng therof, two tenth deales of fyne flour mengled with oyle to be a sacrifice vnto the Lord of a swete sauour: & the drynkoffryng therto, the fourth deale of an hyn of wine.

⁵ and the fourth parte of an hin of wine for a drynkofferynge and offer with the burntofferyng or any other offeryng when it is a lambe.

⁷ and to a drynckofferynge thou shalt offer the thyrde parte of an hin of wyne, to be a swete sauoure vnto the Lorde.

¹⁰ that is an offeryng of a swete sauoure vnto the Lord.

⁶² And the kyng and al Israel wyth him, offered offerynges before the Lorde. ⁶³ And the peace offerynges that Salomon offered vnto the Lorde, were .xxij. thousand oxen & an hundred and twentye thousande shepe. And so the kynge and al the chyldren of Israel dedicated the house of the Lorde. ⁶⁴ And the same daye the kynge halowed the mydle of the courte that is before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burntofferynges & meateofferynges, & the fat of the peaceofferynges, because the brasen aultare that was before the Lord, was to lytle to receyue the burntofferynges & meate offerynges, and the fat of the peaceofferynges. ⁶⁵ And Salomon helde that same tyme an hye feast & all Israell wyth hym, a myghtye congregacyon, euen from the coastes of Hemath vnto the ryuer of Egypte, before the Lorde oure God, seuen dayes & yet seuen dayes, that is .xiiij. dayes.

⁴ And the kynge and all the people offered offerynges before the Lorde. ⁵ So that kynge Salomon offered .xxij. thousand oxen, and an hundred and twentye thousand shepe. And so the kynge & all the people halowed the house of God. ⁶ And the priestes wayted on theyr offices, and the Leuites with instrumentes of musycke of the Lorde which kinge Dauid made to confesse vnto the Lorde that hys mercye lasteth euer, when Dauid gaue prayse thorowe theyr handes. And the priestes blewe trompettes faste by them: and all Israell stode. ⁷ Moreouer Salomon halowed the myddle of the courte that was before the Lorde: for there he offered burntofferynges and the fat of the peaceofferynges, because the brasen aulter which Salomon had made, was not able to receyue the burntofferynges and the meat offerynges and the fatte. ⁸ And Salomon kepte a feast the same ceason of seuen dayes, and all Israel with hym, an exceadynge great congregacyon, euen from Hemath vnto the ryuer of Egypte. ⁹ And the eyght daye they made a gatheryng. For they kept the halowyng of the aulter seuen dayes, & the feast seuen dayes.

¹⁷ and offered at the dedycacion of the house of God, an hundred calues, two hundred lambes, four hundred goates: and for the synofferinge for all Israell twelue he goates, accordinge to the nombre of the trybes of Israel,

¹¹ & vpon the nobles of the chyldren of Israel he set not hys hande. And when they had sene God they ate and dronke.

⁷ And there ye shall eate before the Lord your God, and ye shal reioyce in al that you lay your handes on, boeth ye and your housholdes, bicause the Lord thy God hath blessed the.

¹¹ Therfore when the Lord your God hath chosen a place to make hys name dwel there thyther ye shall brynge all that I commaunde you, your burnt sacrifices and your offerynges, your tythes, & the heaueofferynges of your handes and all your Godlye vowes which ye vowe vnto the Lord. ¹² And ye shall reioyce before the Lord your God, boeth ye youre sonnes & youre daughters, youre seruauntes and youre maydes, and the Leuite that is within in your gates for he hath neither part nor enheritaunce with you.

¹⁴ And thou shalte reioyce in that thy feast, both thou & thy sonne thy daughter, thy seruaunt, thy mayd, the Leuite, the straunger, the fatherles, & the widow that are in thy cities. ¹⁵ Seuen dayes thou shalt kepe holy day vnto the Lord thy God, in the place which the Lord shall chose: for the Lorde thy God shall blesse the in al thy frutes and in all the workes of thyne handes, & therfore shalte thou be glad. ¹⁶ Thre times in the yere shall al your males appeare before the Lorde thy God in the place which he shal chose: In the feast of swete bread, in the feaste of wekes & in the feast of tabernacles. And they shall not appeare before the Lord empty: ¹⁷ but euery man with the gyft of his hand, according to the blessyng of the Lord thy God whyche he hath geuen the.

³¹ And Bethsabe bowed on her face to the earth, and dyd obeysaunce vnto the kynge and said: I praye God my Lorde kynge Dauid maye lyue euer.

³⁴ And let Sadock the pryest and Nathan the prophet anoynte hym there, to be kynge ouer Israel. And then blowe ye with a trompet and saye: God saue kinge Salomon. ³⁵ And then come vp after him, and let him come and sytte vpon my seate. For he shalbe kynge in my steade. And hym I haue commaunded to be captayne ouer Israel and Iuda. ³⁶ And Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada answered the kynge and sayde: Amen, and so pray I God that the Lorde God of my Lorde the kynge saye so to. ³⁷ And as the Lorde hath bene wyth my Lorde the kynge, euen so, I praye God, he maye be, with Salomon and that he make his seate gloryouser then the seate of my lorde kynge Dauid. ³⁸ And Sadock the pryest, and Nathan the prophet of Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada & the Cerethites and Phelethites went doune, and set Salomon vpon kinge Dauids Mule and led him to Gihon. ³⁹ And Sadock the priest toke an horne of oyle out of the tabernacle and anoynted Salomon. And they blewe a trompet, and all they sayde: God saue king Salomon.

³⁵ And the king put Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the host, and put Sadock the priest in the roume of Abiathar.

¹ And when Dauid was olde and stryken in yeares, he made Salomon hys sonne king ouer Israel.

¹⁰ And the .xxiij. daye of the seuenth moneth, he let the people departe into theyr tentes, glad & merye in herte for the goodnesse that the Lord had shewed to Dauid, to Salomon & to Israel hys people.

¹² And all the people wente theyr waye to eate and drincke, and to sende parte vnto other, and to make great myrth, because they had vnderstande the wordes that were declared vnto them.

²⁴ Is it not better then, for a man to eat & drinke, and his soule to be mery in his labour? Yea I sawe that thys also was a gyfte of God:

¹² So I perceiued, that in these thinges their is nothinge better for a man, then to be mery and to do wel so long as he liueth. ¹³ For al that a man eateth & drinketh, yea whatsoeuer a man enioyeth of al his labour, the same is a gyfte of God.

¹⁵ Therfore I commaunde gladnesse, because a man hath no better thynge vnder the Sonne, then to eate and dryncke, and to be mery: for that shal he haue of his laboure al the dayes of hys lyfe, whych God geueth hym vnder the Sonne.

⁷ Go thou thy waye then, eate thy bread wyth ioy, and dryncke thy wyne wyth gladnesse, for thy worckes please God.

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them, ¹⁸ and that they do good and be ryche in good workes, and readye to geue and to distrybute,

¹² And Salomon sate vpon the seate of Dauid hys father, and hys kyngdome was stablyshed myghtely.

¹¹ But when thy dayes be exspyred, that thou must go after thy fathers, I wyll set vp thy seade after the, whiche shalbe of thy sonnes & wyl setle hys kyngedom. ¹² He shall buyld my an house, and I wyll stablyshe hys seate for euer.

¹¹ Now my sonne, the lord be with the, that thou mayst prospere & buyld the house of the Lorde thy God, as he hathe sayde of the.

⁵ And of all my sonnes (for the Lorde hathe geuen me manye sonnes) he hath chosen Salomon my sonne, to syt in the seate of the kingdom of the Lorde ouer Israel.

¹¹ The Lord hath made a faythful ooth vnto Dauyd, and he shall not shrynke from it Of the frute of thy body shal I set vpon thy seate.

² Kepe the kynges commaundemente (I warne the) and the othe that thou haste made vnto god. ³ Be not hasty to go out of hys syght, and se thou contynue in no euell thynge: for whatsoeuer it pleaseth him, that doth he, ⁴ Lyke as when a kynge geueth a charge, hys commaundemente is myghtye: Euen so who maye saye vnto hym what doest thou? ⁵ Who so kepeth the commaundement, shal fele no harme: but a wise mans herte discerneth tyme and maner:

⁶ For vnto vs a chylde shalbe borne, and vnto vs a sonne shalbe geuen. Vpon his shoulder shall the kyngedome lye, and he shalbe called with hys owne name. The wonderous geuer of councel, the myghty God, the euerlastinge father, the prynce of peace, ⁷ he shall make no ende to encrease the kyngedome and peace, and shall sytte vpon the seate of Dauid, and in his kyngedome, to set vp the same, to stablyshe it wyth equyte and ryghteousnesse, from thence forth for euermore. This shall the gelousy of the Lorde of hostes brynge to paste.

¹ Let euery soule submit him selfe vnto the authoritie of the hygher powers. For there is no power but of God.

² And he sayd vnto his eldest seruaunte of hys house whyche had the rule ouer al that he had Put thy hand vnder my they

²⁹ When the tyme drewe nye, that Israel must dye: he sent for hys sonne Ioseph and sayde vnto hym: If I haue founde grace in thy syghte, put thy hande vnder my thye & deale mercyfully and truely wyth me, that thou burye me not in Egypte:

⁵⁰ And Adoniah fearinge Salomon, arose and went and caught holde on the hornes of the aultare. ⁵¹ And it was tolde Salomon howe that Adoniah for feare of kinge Salomon hathe caught hantfast by the hornes of the aultare sayinge: let kyng Salomon swere vnto my this daie, that he wyll not sley hys seruaunt with the swerd. ⁵² And Salomon said: yf he wylbe a childe of vertue, there shal not an heere of him fal to the earth. But and yf wyckednesse shalbe founde in him, he shal dye for it. ⁵³ And thervpon kynge Salomon sent and fet hym doune from the aultare. And he came and dyd obeisannce vnto kynge Salomon. And Salomon sayde to hym: get the to thyne house.

²⁴ Now therfore as surely as the Lorde lyueth whyche hath stablyshed me and set me on the seate of Dauid my father, & which hath made me an house as he promysed me, Adoniah shall dye thys daye. ²⁵ And kynge Salomon sent by the hande of Banaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and smote hym that he dyed.

³ The sonnes of Iuda: Er, Onan, & Selah. These thre were borne hym of the daughter of Sua the Cananitesse. But Er the eldest sonne of Iuda was euill in the syght of the Lorde, and therfore he slue him. ⁴ And Thamar hys daughter in law bare him Pharez and Zarah: so that all the sonnes of Iuda were fyue. ⁵ The sonnes of Pharez: Hezron & Hamul. ⁶ The sonnes of Zarah: Zamri, Ethan, Heman, Chalchal and Dara, fiue in all. ⁷ The sonnes of Carmi: Achar that troubled Israel, whiche transgressed in the vnlawfull thynges. ⁸ The sonnes of Ethan: Azaria. ⁹ The sonnes of Hezron that were borne hym: Ierhameel, Ram and Calubai.

¹⁷ And Dauid commaunded all the Lordes of Israel, to helpe Salomon his sonne saying:

²¹ Beholde the priestes & Leuites deuyded in companyes, for to do all maner of seruyce that pertayneth to the house of God, and besyde that thou haste wyth the for all maner of worckemanshyppe, all that are wyllyng and wyse for anye maner of seruice. And the Lordes and all the people are at thy commaundement in all thynges.

⁸ Wherfore be not styffenecked lyke vnto youre fathers, but yelde youre selues vnto the Lord, & come to hys holye place whiche he hath sanctified for euer, and serue the Lord youre God, that hys wrath maye turne from you.

¹⁸ For seyng he hath despysed the othe, and broken the couenaunt (where as he yet gaue his hande thervpon) and done all these thynges, he shall not escape.

⁷ And the Lorde sayd vnto Iosua: This day wyll I begynne to magnifye the, in the syghte of Israell, that they maye knowe howe that as I was wyth Moses, so wyll I be wyth the.

¹⁴ That daye the Lord magnyfyed Iosua in the syght of all Israell, and they feared hym, as they feared Moses all dayes of hys lyfe.

¹³ And therto I haue geuen the, that thou askedst not, bothe rychesse and honoure: so that there shalbe no kynge lyke the all the dayes.

¹ And Salomon the sonne of Dauid waxed stronge in hys kyngedome, and the Lorde his God was with hym, and magnifyed him on hye.

¹⁷ What is man, that thou hast hym in soch reputacyon, and settest somoch by hym?

⁹ Shortly, I was greater and in more worshippe, then all my predecessours in Ierusalem. For wysdome remained with me

¹⁸ O kynge, God the hyest gaue vnto Nabuchodonosor thy father, the dignite of a kynge with worshippe and honoure, ¹⁹ so that al people, kynredes and tunge stode in awe & feare of him, by reason of the hye estate, that he had lente him. For why, he slewe whom he wold: he smote, whom it pleased hym. Agayne, whom he wolde, he set vp: and whome he lyst, he put doune.

¹⁷ And this was knowen to al the Iewes and Grekes also, which dwelt at Ephesus, and feare came on them al, and they magnified the name of the Lord Iesus.

⁹ Neuertheles we yet se not all thinges subdued, but him that was made lesse then the Angelles, we se that it was Iesus, whiche is crowned with glory and honoure for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God, should taste of death for al men.

¹⁴ And Dauid raigned ouer all Israel, and dyd right and equyte vnto al his people.

⁷¹ As he was folowynge the yewes greate with yonge, he toke him, that he myghte fede Iacob hys people, & Israel hys enherytance. ⁷² So he fedde them wyth a fayethfull and true herte, and ruled them wyth diligence of of his power.

⁴ Dauid was thyrtye yeare olde when he began to raygne, and he raygned fourty yeare. ⁵ In Hebron he raygned ouer Iuda seuen yere & syxe monethes. And in Ierusalem he raygned thyrtye & thre yeares ouer all Israell and Iuda.

¹¹ And the dayes whyche Dauid raygned vpon Israell were fourtye yeares: seuen yeares in Hebron, and thyrtye and thre yeare in Ierusalem.

⁴ These .vi. were borne hym in Hebron where he raygned seuen yeare and sixe monethes. And in Ierusalem he raygned .xxxiij. yeare.

¹⁵ Neuerthelesse, thou shalt go vnto thy fathers in peace, & shalt be buryed when thou arte of a good age:

⁸ and then fell sycke & dyed in a lusty age (when he had liued inough) & was put vnto his people.

²⁹ & then fell he sycke & dyed, & was put vnto his people beyng olde and full of dayes. And his sonnes Esau and Iacob buried him.

²⁶ Thou shalt come to thy graue in a fayre age, lyke as the corne sheeues are brought into the barne in due season.

³¹ Age is a crowne of worshippe, if it be founde in the waye of ryghtuousnes.

³⁶ Howbeit Dauid after he had in hys tyme fulfylled the wyll of God, he slepte, and was layde with hys fathers, and sawe corrupcyon.

⁹ Before tyme in Israel when a man went to seke an answere of God, thus wyse he spake: come & let vs go to the Sear. For he that is now called a Prophet, was in the olde tyme called a Sear.

⁵ And the prophet Gad sayde vnto Dauid: Abyde not in castelles, but departe and go to the land of Iuda. Then Dauid departed and came into the forest Hareth.

² he sayde vnto Nathan the Prophete: Beholde, I dwell in an house of Cedar trees, but the arcke of God dwelleth in the myddes of curtaynes. ³ Then sayd Nathan vnto the King go and do al that is thyne herte, for the Lord is wyth the. ⁴ But that same nyght the worde of the Lorde came vnto Nathan saying:

¹ And the Lorde sent Nathan vnto Dauid. And he came vnto hym & sayde vnto hym: there were .ij. men in one cytye, a ryche and a poore. ² And the ryche had excedyng great aboundaunce of shepe and oxen. ³ But the pore had nothynge saue one lytle lamb which he bought & noryshed vp. And it grew vp with hym and hys chyldren, and dyd eate of hys owne meate and drancke of hys owne cuppe, and slept in hys bosome, & was as dere vnto hym as hys doughter. ⁴ And there came a straunger vnto the ryche man. And he coulde not fynde in hys herte to take of hys owne shepe nor of hys beastes to dresse for the straunger that was come vnto hym. But toke the pore mannes lambe, and dressed it for the man that was come to hym. ⁵ And Dauid was exceding wroth with the man, and sayde to Nathan: as surely as the Lorde lyueth the felowe that hathe done thys thynge, is the chylde of death ⁶ and shall restore the lambe foure folde, because he dyd thys thynge, and because he had no pitie. ⁷ Then Nathan sayd to Dauid: thou arte the man. Thys sayth the Lorde God of Israel: I annoynted the kynge ouer Israel, & rydde the out of the handes of Saule.

⁴¹ And the rest of the actes of Salomon & all that he dyd, and hys wysdome are writen in the boke of the actes of Salomon.

²⁹ The reste of the Actes of kynge Rehoboam and all he dyd, are wrytten in the boke of the Actes of the kynges of Iuda.

⁹ And the Lorde spake vnto Gad Dauids sear of vysions saying: ¹⁰ go and tel Dauid sayinge. Thus sayth the Lorde: I geue the the chose of thre thynges: chose the one of them, that I maye do vnto the. ¹¹ And Gad came to Dauid and sayde vnto him. Thus sayth the Lorde.

³² And what shall I more saye? the tyme woulde be to short for me to tell of Gedeon, of Baroch, and of Sampson, and of Iephtae: also of Dauid and Samuel, and of the Prophetes: ³³ which thorowe fayth subdued kingdomes wrought ryghtuousnes, obtayned the promyses, stopped the mouthes of Lyons,

³⁴ The rest of the actes of Iehu, and all he dyd, and all hys poure are wrytten in the chronicles of the kynges of Israel.

²⁸ The rest of the deedes of Ieroboam, and all he dyd, & his powre how he fought, & how he restored Damasco and Hemath to Iuda in Israel are written in the boke of the chronicles of the kinges of Israel.

²¹ he chaunged the tymes & ages: he putteth doune kynges, he setteth vp kinges he geueth wysdome vnto the wyse, & vnderstandynge to those that vnderstande,

²³ But where as the kynge sawe a watcher euen an holye aungel, that came downe from heauen, and sayde: hewe doune the tre, and destroye it: yet leaue the grounde of the rote in the earthe, and brynge hym vpon the playne felde with cheynes of yron & stele: He shall be wet with the dewe of heauen, and hys parte shalbe with the beastes of the felde, tyll seuen yeares be come and gone vpon him:

²⁵ Thou shalte be caste oute from men, & thy dwellyng shalbe with the beastes of the feld: with grasse shalte thou be fed lyke an oxe. Thou must be wet with the dewe of the heauen, yea seuen yeares shall come, and go vpon the, tyll thou know, that the hyest hath power vpon the kingedomes of men, & geueth them to whome he lyst.
