¹ And then the Lorde sayde vnto Samuel: How longe wilt thou mourne for Saul, seing I haue cast him away from raygning ouer Israel? fyll an horne with oyntment, and come: I wil sende the to Isay the Bethlehemite, for I haue spyed me a king amonge his sonnes.

¹⁴ and asked not of the Lorde. And therfore the Lorde killed hym & turned the kyngdome vnto Dauid the sonne of Iesai.

¹ After this there shall come a road forth of the kynrede of Iesse, & a blossome oute of his rote.

¹⁰ Then shal the Gentyles enquere after the rote of Iesse (whiche shalbe set vp for a token vnto the Gentyles) for hys dwellinge shalbe glorious.

³² which was the sonne of Iesse, which was the sonne of Obed, which was the sonne of Boos, which was the sonne of Salmon, which was the sonne of Naason,

²² And after he had put him doune, he set vp Dauid to be theyr kynge of whom he reported sayinge: I haue founde Dauid the sonne of Iesse, a man after myne owne hert, he shall fulfyll all my wyll.

¹² And in another place Esayas saith: there shalbe the rote of Iesse, and he that shall ryse to reygne ouer the Gentyles: in hym shal the Gentyles truste.
