¹⁰ And the young men that were brought vp wyth hym, aunswered hym, sayinge: thys people that haue sayde vnto the: thy father made our youcke heuye, make thou it vs lighter: thus aunswere them. My lytle fynger shalbe wayghtyer then my fathers loynes.

⁷ Then sayde Husai to Absalom: the counsel that Ahitophel hath geuen, is not good at this tyme. ⁸ For (sayd Husai) thou knowest thy father, & the men that are with him, how that they be strong men. And they be chafed in theyr mindes, euen as a beare robbed of her whelpes. And thy father is a man practised in warre and wyll not lye a nyghtes amonge the comen people. ⁹ Beholde he lurketh now in some caue or in som other place. And therto though some of hys men be ouerthrowen at the fyrst brunt, yet they that heare it wil thinck the people that foloweth Absalom be put to the worsse. ¹⁰ By the reason wherof the best men thou hast whose hertes are as the hertes of Lyons, shal shrynke therat. For all Israel knoweth that thy father is a man, and that they whyche be with hym be children of actiuite. ¹¹ But my counsel is, that all Israel be gathered vnto the, from Dan to Bersabe, as the sande of the sea in nombre, and that thou go to batayle in thyne owne person. ¹² And we wyll come vpon him in one place or other, where we shall fynde hym, and we wyl pitche a feld agaynst hym, euen as thycke as the dew falleth on the grounde. And there shall not one of them be lefte, nether he or any of all that are wyth him. ¹³ Moreouer yf he take a towne then shall al the men of Israel brynge ropes to that cytye, and we wil drawe it into the ryuer, vntyl there be not one stone found vpon another.

¹⁰ And the young men that were nourced vp wyth hym talked wyth hym saying: thus answere the people that spake to the saying. Thy father made oure youcke heauye: But make thou oure youcke somewhat lyghter. Thus wyse aunswere them: my lytle fynger shalbe heuyer then my fathers loynes. ¹¹ For where my father put a heauye youcke vpon you. I wyl put more therto, & where my father chastised you with whyppes, I wyl chastyse you with scorpyons.

¹⁴ Wyse men laie vp knowledge, but the mouth of the folysh is nye destruction.

⁶ A fooles lippes are euer brawling, and his mouth prouoketh vnto battayll. ⁷ A fooles mouth is hys owne destruccion and his lippes are the snare for his owne soule.

²⁵ He that is of a proud stomacke, stereth vp strife but he that putteth hys truste in the Lorde, shalbe wel fedde.

²³ After pryde commeth a fal, but a lowly spirit bringeth great worshippe.

⁶ I was so wroth with my people, that I punished myne enheritaunce, & gaue them into thy power. Neuertheles, thou shewedeste them no mercy, but euen the very aged men of them, didest thou oppresse ryght sore wyth thy yock,
