⁴ And the king went to Gabaon, to offer there, for that was a great offering place. And there Salomon offered a thousand burntofferinges vpon the aultare.

³ But when the Enhabitoures of Gabaon heard what Iosua had done vnto Iericho, & Ai,

² for Gabaon was a great cyty, as any cytye of the kyngdome, and therto greater then Ai, and al her men were myghty.

⁶³ And the peace offerynges that Salomon offered vnto the Lorde, were .xxij. thousand oxen & an hundred and twentye thousande shepe. And so the kynge and al the chyldren of Israel dedicated the house of the Lorde.

² the Lord appered vnto him agayne, as he appered to him at Gabaon.

³⁹ And Zadock the pryeste wyth hys brethren the priestes set he before the tabernacle of the Lorde at the hylaulters at Gabaon,

²⁹ For the tabernacle of the Lorde, which Moses made in the wyldernesse, & the aulter of burntofferynge were at the ceason in the hyll at Gabaon.

³ And so Salomon and all the congregacyon wyth hym, wente to the hylaulter of Gabaon: for there was the tabernacle of the wytnesse of God, which Moses the seruaunt of the Lorde made in the wyldernesse.

⁶ And Salomon offered there before the Lorde vpon the brasen aulter that was by the tabernacle of wytnesse, a thousand burntsacrifyces. ⁷ And the same night God appeared vnto Salomon and sayde to hym: aske, what I shall geue the. ⁸ And Salomon sayde vnto God: thou hast shewed great mercye vnto Dauid my father, & haste made me kynge in hys steade. ⁹ And now Lord god let thy promyse vnto Dauid my father be true. For thou hast made me kynge ouer a people lyke the duste of the earthe in multitude. ¹⁰ Wherfore geue me wisdome and knowledge how to behaue my selfe vnto thys people: for who is able to iudge thys people that is so greate? ¹¹ Then God said to Salomon, because thou haddest thys in thyne herte, and dyddest not aske treasure and rychesse, honoure & the lyues of thyne enemyes, neyther yet longe lyfe: But hast asked wysdome and knoweledge, to iudge my people, ouer whiche I haue made the kyng: ¹² wisdome and knowledge shalbe geuen the, and I wyll geue the treasure, rychesse, & glorye also, that amonge the kynges before the or after the, none was or shalbe lyke the.

⁵ So that kynge Salomon offered .xxij. thousand oxen, and an hundred and twentye thousand shepe. And so the kynge & all the people halowed the house of God.

³² And the numbre of the burntofferynges which the congregacion brought in was .lxx. oxen & an hundred rammes & two hundred lambes: & all for burntofferynges to the Lorde. ³³ And besyde that they dedicated sixe hundred oxen and thre thousand shepe. ³⁴ But the preastes were to few, and were not ably to fleye all the burntoffrynges. Wherefore theyre brethren the Leuites holpe them tyll the worke was ended, and vntill the preastes were sanctifyed. For the Leuites were purer herted to sanctifie them selues then the preastes. ³⁵ And therto the burntoffrynges were manye with the fatte of the peace offerynges and the drynck offerynges that belonged to the burntofferynges. And so the seruyce pertaynynge to the house of the Lorde went forward.

²⁴ For Hezekiah kynge of Iuda gaue for heaue offrynges to the congregacion a thousand oxen and seuen thousand shepe. And the Lorde gaue to the congregacyon for heaueoffrynges a thousand oxen and ten thousand shepe. And the preastes sanctifyed them selues, that they were ynowe.

¹⁶ Libanus is not suffycyent to mynystre fyre for his offringe, and all the beastes therof are not ynough to one sacryfyce.

⁶ What acceptable thynge shall I offre vnto the Lord? shall I bowe my knee to the hye God? Shall I come before hym wyth brentoffrynges, and wyth calues of a yeare olde? ⁷ Hath the Lorde a pleasure in many thousand rammes, or innumerable streames of oyle? Or shal I geue my fyrstborne for myne offences, and the fruyte of my body for the synne of my soule?
