³ For it is sufficient for vs, that we haue spent the time that is past of the lyfe, after the wil of the Gentiles, walking in wantonnes, lustes, dronckennes, in eatinge, drinkinge & in abominable Idolatrie.

³⁰ Beware that thou be not taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroyed before the, & that thou aske not after theyr Gods sayinge: how dyd these nations serue theyr Goddes. that I maye do so lykewyse: ³¹ Naye, thou shalt not do so vnto the Lorde thy God: for all abhominacions whyche the Lorde hated dyd they vnto theyr Goddes. For they burnt both their sonnes and their daughters with fire vnto their Goddes.

²⁸ Then Absalom commaunded hys younge men sayinge: marke when Amnons herte is mery wyth wyne, & when I byd you smyte Amnon then kyll him: feare not, for it is I that byd you, be bolde therfore, & playe the lustye bloudes.

²⁶ And therfore he dyd exceding abhomynable, in folowynge Idoles, in all thynges lyke as dyd the Ammorites whyche the Lord cast oute before the chyldren of Israel.

⁸ When Asa hearde those wordes and the prophesye of Azariah the sonne of Obed the Prophete, he toke courage, and put away the abhomynacions oute of al the lande of Iuda and Beniamin, and oute of the cytyes which he wanne in mount Ephraim, and renued the aulter of the Lord that was before the porche of the Lorde.

²⁹ Wher is wo? wher is sorow? where is strife? where is brauling? wher are wounds without cause? wher be reed eies? ³⁰ Euen among those that be euer at the wyne, and seke out where the best is. ³¹ Loke not thou vpon the wyne, how redde it is, & what a coloure it geueth in the glasse ³² It goeth downe softly, but at the laste it byteth lyke a serpent, & styngeth, as an Adder. ³³ So shall thyne eyes loke vnto straunge wemen, and thyne herte shal muse vpon froward thyngs. ³⁴ Yea thou shalt be as thoughe thou sleptest in the middest of that sea, or vpon the toppe of the mast. ³⁵ They wounded me (shalte thou say) but it hath not hurte me, they smote me, but I felt it not. When I am well wakened, I will go to the dryncke agayne.

¹¹ Wo be vnto them that ryse vp earlye to vse them selues in dronkennes, & yet at nyght are more superfluous wyth wyne.

⁷ But they go wronge by the reason of wyne, they fall and stacker because of stronge drincke. Yea euen the Priestes and Prophetes them selues go amysse, they are droncken with wyne, & weake brayned thorowe stronge drincke. They erre in seynge, and in iudgemente they fayle.

⁴ they lurcke amonge the graues, and lye in the dennes all nyght. They eat swyne fleshe, and vncleane broth is in their vessels.

¹⁸ But firste wyll I sufficientlye rewarde their shamefull blasphemies and synnes, wherwyth they haue defyled my lande: Namely, wyth their stinckyng Idols and obhominacions, wherwith they haue fylled myne heretage.

⁶ and tell that obstynate housholde of Israell: Thus sayeth the Lorde God: O house of Israell, ye haue now done ynough withall youre abhomynacyons,

⁹ Thus sayeth the Lord God: O ye prynces, ye haue now oppressed and destroyed ynough: now leaue of, handle now accordyng to the thing, that is equall and lauful: and thrust out my people nomore, sayeth the Lorde God.

²² theft, coueteousnes, wickednes, deceyte: vncleanenesse and a wicked eye, blasphemy, pryde, folishenes:

³⁰ And the tyme of thys ignoraunce God regarded not. But now he byddeth all men euerye where repent,

²⁰ So that his inuisible thinges, that is to saye, hys eternall power and Godhead, are vnderstand & sene by the workes from the creation of the worlde. So that they are wythout excuse, ²¹ in as muche as when they knewe God, they glorifyed him not as God, neither were thankful, but waxed full of vanities in theyr Imaginations, and their folishe hertes were blinded. ²² When they counted them selues wyse, they became foles, ²³ and tourned the glorye of the immortall God, vnto the the similitude of the Image of mortall man, and of byrdes, and foure foted beastes, and of serpentes. ²⁴ Wherfore God lykewyse gaue them vp vnto their hertes lustes vnto vncleanes, to defyle theyr owne bodies betwene them selues: ²⁵ whyche turned hys truth vnto a lye, and worshipped and serued the creatures more then the maker, whyche is blessed for euer. Amen. ²⁶ For this cause God gaue them vp vnto shamefull lustes. For euen theyr women dyd chandge the natural vse vnto the vnnaturall. ²⁷ And lykewyse also the men lefte the naturall vse of the woman, and brent in theyr lustes one on another. And man with man wroughte fylthynes, and receiued in them selues the reward of theyr errour, as it was accordinge. ²⁸ And as it semed not good vnto them to be a knowen of God, euen so God deliuered them vp vnto a leud minde, that they should do those thinges, whiche were not comly, ²⁹ beyng ful of al vnryghtuous doing, of fornicacion, wickednes, couetousnes, maliciousnes, full of enuye, murther, debate, disceite, euyl condicioned, whisperers, ³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, doers of wronge, proude, bosters, bryngers vp of euyll thinges, disobedient to father and mother, ³¹ wythout vnderstandynge, couenaunt breakers, vnlouinge, truce breakers and mercyles. ³² Whyche men though they knewe the ryghtuousnes of God, howe that they which such thinges commit, are worthy of death, yet not onely do the same, but also haue pleasure in them that do them.

¹² Therfore brethren we are nowe detters not to the fleshe, ¹³ to lyue after the fleshe. For yf ye liue after the, fleshe, ye muste dye. But if ye mortifye the dedes of the bodye, by the helpe of the spirite, ye shall liue.

¹³ Let vs walke honestlye as it were in the daye lyght: not in eatynge and drynkynge: neyther in chamburynge and wantonnes, neyther in stryfe & enuiynge:

¹¹ And suche were ye verelye, but ye are washed, ye are sanctifyed, ye are iustifyed by the name of the Lorde Iesus, and by the spyryte of our God.

² Ye knowe that ye were Gentyles, and wente your wayes vnto domme Idols, euen as you were led.

²¹ I feare leste when I come agayne, God brynge me lowe amonge you, and I be constrayned to bewayle many of them which haue synned already, and haue not repented of the vncleanes, fornicacyon, and wantonnes, whiche they haue commytted.

¹⁹ The dedes of the flesh are manyfeste, which are these aduoutrye, fornicacyon, vncleannes, wantonnes,

²¹ enuiynge, murther, drounkennes, glottonye, and suche lyke: of the whiche I tell you before, as I haue tolde you in tymes past, that they whiche commytte suche thynges shall not enheryte the kingdome of God.

² in the whiche in time passed, yet walked accordynge to the course of thys worlde, & after the gouerner that ruleth in the ayer, the spyrite that nowe worketh in the chyldren of vnbelefe, ³ amonge whiche we also had our conuersation in tyme paste, in the lustes of oure fleshe, and fulfylled the wyll of the fleshe and of the mynde, and were naturallye the chyldren of wrath, euen as well as other.

¹⁷ Thys I saye therfore and testifye in the Lorde, that ye henceforth walke not as other Gentyles walke, in vanitie of theyr mynde, ¹⁸ blynded in theyr vnderstandynge, beynge straungers from the lyfe whiche is in God thorowe the ignoraunce that is in them, because of the blyndnes of theyr hertes: ¹⁹ whiche beyng paste repentaunce, haue geuen them selues vnto wantonnes, to worke al maner of vncleanes, euen wyth gredines.

¹⁸ and be not drounke wt wyne. wherin is excesse, but be fulfylled wyth the spirite,

⁵ and not in the luste of concupiscence, as do the heathen, which know not God,

³ For we our selues also in tymes paste, vnwyse, dysobedient, deceyued, in daunger to lustes, and to dyuers maners of voluptuousnes, lyuyng in malycyousnes and enuye, ful of hate, hatyng one another.

¹⁴ as obedyent chyldren not fashyonynge youre selues vnto your old lustes of ignorauncye:

⁴ For there are certayne craftely crept in, of which it was wrytten afore tyme vnto suche iudgement. They are vngodlye & turne the grace of oure God vnto wantonnes, and denye God the onelye Lorde, and oure Lord Iesus Christe.

⁴ And the woman was arayed in purple & rose coloure, and decked wyth golde, precious stones and pearles, and had a cuppe of golde in her hand full of al abominacions and fylthines of her fornicacion. ⁵ And in her forhead was a name wrytten, a mystery, great Babylon the mother of whoredome and abominacions of the earth.
