⁷ But the Lorde sayde vnto Samuel: loke not on his fashion nor on the height of hys stature, for I haue refused hym. Because it is not as man seyth. For man loketh on the outward apperaunce, but the Lorde beholdeth the harte.

² the same had a sonne called Saul, a goodly young man, so that among the children of Israel, there was none goodlier then he, & was therto from the shoulders vpwarde hyer then all the other people.

²³ And they ran, and fet hym thence. And when he stode among the people, he was hyer then anye of the people, from the shoulders vpwarde. ²⁴ And Samuel sayde to al the people there se ye whom the Lord hath chosen & how there is none lyke hym amonge all the companye. And al the people shouted and sayd: God lend the Kyng lyfe.

²⁵ Moreouer in all Israel there was not so goodlye a man as Absalom, or so greatly praysed, from the soole of hys fote to the toppe of his head there was no blemesh in him.

³⁹ and be mercyfull, and worcke, and geue euery man according to his wayes (euen as thou onelye knowest euerye mannes herte, for thou knowest the hertes of all the children of Adam)

⁹ And thou Salomon my sonne: knowe God thy father, and serue hym with a pure hert, and lust of soule. For the Lorde searcheth all hertes, and vnderstandeth all the Imaginacyons of thoughtes. If thou shalte seke hym, he wylbe founde of the: But & yf thou forsake hym, he wyll caste the of for euer.

⁹ For the eyes of the Lorde beholde all the earthe, to strength the hertes of them that are hole with him. Herin thou hast done folyshly, and therfore from henceforth thou shalt haue warre.

⁴ Hast thou fleshye eyes then, or doest thou loke as man loketh?

⁹ Oh let the wickednes of the vngodly come to an ende: but maynteyne the iust, thou rightuous God, that triest the very hertes and the reynes.

² Thou knowest my doune sittyng and myne vprysinge, thou vnderstandest my thoughtes a farre of.

¹⁰ He hath no pleasure in the strengthe of an horse, neither deliteth he in any mans legges. ¹¹ But the Lordes delyte is in them that feare hym, and put their trust in his mercy.

¹¹ The hell wyth her payne is knowne vnto the Lorde, howe muche more then, the hertes of men?

² A man thynketh al his waies to be cleane, but it is the Lord that fashyoneth the mindes

³⁰ Sin. As for fauour, it is disceatfull, & beuty is a vayne thing: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she is worthy to be praysed.

⁸ For thus saith the Lorde: my thoughtes are not youre thoughtes, & youre wayes are not my wayes, ⁹ but as farre as the heauens are hyer then the earth, so farre do my wayes exceade yours, and my thoughtes yours.

²⁰ Therfore I wyll beseche the now (O Lord of hostes) thou rightuous iudge, thou that tryest the reynes and the hertes: lett me se the aunged of them, for vnto the haue I committed my cause.

¹⁰ Euen I the Lorde search out the grounde of the herte, & trye the reynes, and rewarde euery man accordinge to hys wayes, and acordynge to the fruyte of his councels.

¹² And now, O Lorde of Hostes, thou ryghtuous sercher (which knowest the reynes and the very hertes:) let me se them punished, for vnto the I commytte my cause.

¹⁵ And he sayde vnto them: Ye are they whiche iustifye your selues before men: but God knoweth your hertes. For that which is highly estemed amonge men, is abhominable in the syght of God.

²⁴ Iudge not after the vtter aperaunce: but iudge rightuouse iudgemente.

²⁴ And they praysed saiynge: thou Lorde whyche knowest the hertes af all men, shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen,

⁷ Loke ye on thynges after the vtter apparence? Yf any man truste in hym selfe that he is Christes, let the same also consydre of him self that as he is Christes, euen so are we Christes

¹⁰ For the Epystles (sayeth he) are sore and stronge, but hys bodely presence is weake, and hys speach rude.

¹³ neyther is there anye creature inuisible in the syght of him. For all thinges are naked and bare vnto the eyes of him, of whom we speake.

⁴ to whome ye come as vnto a lyuinge stone dysalowed of men, but chosen of God and precyous:

⁴ but let the hyd man of the harte be vncorrupte with a meke and a quyete spyryte, whiche spyryte is before God a thynge muche set by.

²³ And I will kyl her chyldren wyth death. And all the congregacions shal know, that I am he, whiche searched the reynes and hertes. And I will geue vnto euery one of you according vnto youre workes.
