¹ Rebuke not an elder: but exhorte hym as a father, and the yonger men as brethren ² the elder women as mothers, the yonger as systers, with all purenes. ³ Honour wyddowes, whiche are true wyddowes. ⁴ Yf any wyddowe haue chyldren or neues, let them learne fyrst to rule theyr owne houses godlye and to recompence theyr elders. For that is good and acceptable before God. ⁵ She that is a verye wydowe and fryndelesse, putteth her trust in God & contynueth in supplicacyon & prayer nyghte and daye. ⁶ But she that lyueth in pleasure, is dead euen yet alyue. ⁷ And these thynges commaunde, that they may be wythout faute. ⁸ Yf there be anye that prouideth not for hys owne, & namely for them of hys housholde the same denyeth the fayth, & is worsse then an infydele. ⁹ Let no wydowe be chosen vnder thre score yere olde, and suche a one as was the wyfe of one man, ¹⁰ and well reported of in good workes: yf she haue nouryshed chyldren, yf she haue bene lyberall to straungers, yf she haue washed the saynctes fete, yf she haue mynystred vnto them whiche were in aduersitie, yf she were contynually geuen vnto all maner good workes. ¹¹ The yonger wydowes refuse. For when they haue begonne to waxe wanton to the dyshonoure of Christe, then wyll they marye, ¹² hauynge damnacion because they haue broken theyr fyrst fayth. ¹³ And also they learne to go from house to house ydle, ye not ydle onelye, but also tryflynge and busybodyes speakynge thynges whiche are not comely. ¹⁴ I wyll therfore that the yonger women marye and beare children, and guyde the house and geue none occasyon to the aduersarye to speake euyll. ¹⁵ For many of them are alreadye turned backe and are gone after Sathan. ¹⁶ And yf any man or woman that beleueth haue wydowes, let them mynyster vnto them, & lette not the congregacion be charged: that it maye haue suffycyent for them that are wyddowes in dede. ¹⁷ The elders that rule well, are worthye of double honoure, most specyally they whiche laboure in the worde and in teachynge. ¹⁸ For the scrypture sayeth: Thou shalt not mousell the mouthe of the oxe that treadeth out the corne. And the labourer is worthye of hys rewarde. ¹⁹ Agaynste an elder receyue none accusacyon: but vnder two or thre wytnesses. ²⁰ Them that synne, rebuke openly, that other maye feare. ²¹ I testyfye before God & the Lorde Iesus Christ, and the electe aungels, that thou obserue these thynges wythout hasty iudgement and do nothynge parcyally. ²² Laye handes sodenly on no man, neyther be partakers of other mennes synnes: kepe thy self pure. ²³ Drink no lenger water, but vse a lytle wyne for thy stomakes sake, and thyne often dyseases. ²⁴ Some mennes sinnes are open before hand and go before vnto iudgemente: some mennes synnes folowe after. ²⁵ Lykewyse also good workes are manyfest before hande, and they that are otherwyse can not be hyd.

³² Thou shalt ryse vp before the hoorehed, & reuerence the face of the olde man & dread thy god, for I am the Lorde.

⁹ He that saith vnto hys father and mother. I saw hym not and vnto hys brethren, I knewe not, and to hys sonne I wot not: for they haue obserued thy worde and kepte thy testamente.

¹⁵ Moreouer, if thy brother trespase agaynst the, Go and tell hym hys fault betwene hym and the alone. If he heare the, thou hast wonne thy brother. ¹⁶ But if he heare the not, then take yet with the one or two, that in the mouthe of two or thre witnesses, all thynges may be stablished. ¹⁷ If he heare not them, tell it vnto the congregacion. If he heare not the congregacion, take hym as a Heathen man, & as a publican.

⁸ But ye shall not suffer youre selues to be called Rabbi. For one is your master, that is to witte Christ, and all ye are brethreu.

²³ And when they had ordeyned them elders by election in euery congregacion, and after they had prayed and fasted, they commended them to God on whom they beleued.

⁴ And when they were come to Ierusalem, they were receyued of the congregacyon, and of the Apostles and elders. And they declared what thynges God had done by them.

⁶ And the Apostles and elders came together to reason of thys matter.

¹⁷ Wherfore from Myleton he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the congregacyon.

⁷ Geue to euerye man therfore hys dutye: Tribute to whom trybute belongeth: Custome to whom custome is due: feare to whome feare belongeth: Honoure to whom honoure pertayneth.

¹¹ And when Peter was come to Antioche, I withstode hym in the face, for he was worthy to be blamed. ¹² For yer that certayne came from Iames, he eate with the Gentyls. But when they were come, he withdrue and separated hym selfe, fearyng them which were of the circumcysyon. ¹³ And the other Iewes dissembled lykewyse, in so muche that Barnabas was brought into theyr simulacyon also. ¹⁴ But when I sawe, that they went not the ryghte waye after the truth of the Gospell, I sayde vnto Peter before all men, yf thou beynge a Iew, lyuest after the maner of the Gentyls, and not as do the Iewes: why causeste thou the Gentyls to lyue as do the Iewes?

¹ Brethren, yf any man be fallen by chaunce into any faute: ye which are spyrytuall helpe to amende hym, in the spyryte of mekenes, consyderynge thy selfe leste thou also be tempted.

¹⁷ The elders that rule well, are worthye of double honoure, most specyally they whiche laboure in the worde and in teachynge.

²⁴ But the seruaunt of the Lorde must not stryue, but must be peasable to all men, and apte to teache, and one that can suffre ²⁵ the euyll in meakenes, and can informe them that resiste: yf that God at any tyme wyll geue them repentaunce for to know the trueth,

⁵ For thys cause left I the in Crete, that thou shouldest performe that whiche was lackynge, and shouldest ordeyne elders in euery cytye as I appoynted the. ⁶ Yf any be fautelesse, the husbande of one wyfe hauyng faythfull chyldren, whiche are not sclaundred of ryote, neyther are dysobedyent.

² That the elder men be sober, honest, discret, sounde in the fayth, in loue, and in pacience.

⁶ Young men lykewyse exhort that they be sobre mynded.

⁹ yet for loues sake I rather beseche the, thoughe I be as I am euen Paule aged, and now in bondes for Iesu Christes sake. ¹⁰ I beseche the for my sonne Onesimus, whom I begat in my bondes,

¹⁷ But the wysedome that is from aboue, is fyrste pure, then peasable, gentle, and easye to be entreated, full of mercye & good frutes, wythoute iudgynge, and wythout simulacyon:

¹⁴ Yf anye be deseased amonge you, let hym call for the elders of the congregacyon, and let them praye ouer him, and annoynte hym wyt oyle in the name of the Lord

¹ The elders whiche are amonge you, I exhorte, whiche am also an elder, and a wytnes of the affliccions of Christe, and also a partaker of the glory that shallbe opened,

⁵ Lykewyse ye yonger submit youre selues vnto the elder. Submit youre selues euerye man, one to another, knyt youre selues together in lowlines of mynde. For God resisteth the proude & geueth grace to humble. ⁶ Submit youre selues therfore vnder the myghty hande of God, that he maye exalte you, when the tyme is come.

¹ The elder to the electe Lady, and her children, whiche I loue in the trueth: and not I onelye, but also all that knowe the trueth,

¹ The elder vnto the beloued Gaius, whom I loue in the trueth.

⁴ And about the seate were .xxiiij. seates. And vpon the seates .xxiiij. elders syttynge clothed in whyte rayment, & had on their heades crounes of golde.

⁵⁰ For whosoeuer doth my fathers wyll which is in heauen, the same is my brother, syster and mother.

²⁶ When Iesus sawe his mother, and the discyple standyng whome he loued, he sayed vnto his mother: woman beholde thy sonne. ²⁷ Then sayed he to the discyple: beholde thy mother. And from that houre the discyple toke her for hys owne.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, whatsoeuer thynges are true, whatsoeuer thinges are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iuste, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges pertaine to loue, whatsoeuer thinges are of honeste report: yf there be anie vertuous thinge yf there be anye laudable thinge,

²² Absteyne from all suspicious thinges.

¹² Let no man despyse thy youthe: but be vnto them that beleue, an ensample, in worde in conuersacyon, in loue, in spyryte, in fayth & in purenes.

³ Honour wyddowes, whiche are true wyddowes.

²² Lustes of youth auoyde, and folow ryghtuousnes, fayth, loue, & peace, with them that call on the Lorde with pure herte.

¹² Honour thy father & thy mother, that thy dayes may be longe in the lande which the Lorde thy God geueth the.

¹⁸ but doth right vnto the fatherles & wydowe and loueth the straunger, to giue him fode and raiment.

²⁹ and the Leuite shall come bycause he hathe neither parte nor enheritaunce with the, and the straunger and the fatherles, and the wydowe whych are wythin thy citye and shall eate and fyll them selues: that the Lorde thy God maye blesse the in all thy worckes of thyne hand which thou doest.

¹¹ And reioyce before the Lorde thy God, both thou, thy sonne, thy daughter, thy seruaunt and thy mayd, & the Leuite that is wythin thy gates, & the straunger, the fatherles & the wedowes that are among you, in the place which the lord thy god hath chosen to make hys name dwel there.

¹⁴ And thou shalte reioyce in that thy feast, both thou & thy sonne thy daughter, thy seruaunt, thy mayd, the Leuite, the straunger, the fatherles, & the widow that are in thy cities.

¹⁹ Cursed be he that hyndreth the right of the straunger, fatherlesse and wydowe, and all the people shall saye Amen.

¹³ He that shoulde haue bene lost, gaue me a good worde, and the wyddowes herte praysed me.

¹⁶ When the poore desyreth any thinge at me, haue I denyed it them? Haue I caused the wyddowe stande wayting for me in vayne?

⁵ He is a father of the fatherlesse, he is a defender of widdowes: euen God in his holy habytacyon.

⁶ They murthur the wydowe & the straunger, and put the fatherlesse to death.

⁹ The Lorde careth for the straungers, he defendeth the fatherlesse and wydow: as for the way of the vngodly, he turneth it vpside doune.

¹¹ Thou shalte leaue thy fatherlesse chyldren behynde the, and I wyll kepe them and thy wydowes shall take theyr comforte in me.

⁶ and so shall he not honour hys father or mother. And thus haue ye made, that the commaundement of God is without effecte, thorow your tradicions.

¹³ Wo be vnto you Scribes and Phariseis, hypocrites, for ye shut vp the kyngdome of heauen before men: ye youre selues go not in, neyther suffer ye them that come to enter in.

³⁷ And she had bene a weddowe aboute .iiij. score and .iiij. yeares, which went neuer out of the temple, but serued God with fastinge and prayer night & daye.

¹² When he came nye to the gate of the cytye, beholde there was a dead man caryed out which was the onlye sonne of his mother and she was a wydowe, and much people of the cytye was with her.

⁴⁷ Iesus sawe Nathanael comminge to him and sayde of him: Beholde a right Israelyte, in whom is no gyle.

¹ In those dayes as the numbre of the disciples grewe, ther arose a a grudge amonge the Grekes agaynste the Hebrues, because their widdowes were despysed in the dayly ministracion.

³⁹ Peter arose and came wyth them & when he was come, they brought him into the chamber. And all the wydowes stode round about him wepynge and shewynge the cotes & garmentes, whyche Dorcas made whyle she was wyth them.

⁶ neyther sought we prayse of men neyther of you, nor yet of anye other, when we mighte haue bene chargeable, as the Apostles of Christe,

²⁷ Pure deuocyon and vndefyled before God the father is thys: to visite the fatherlesse and wyddowes in theyr aduersitye, and to kepe hym selfe vnspotted of the worlde.

¹⁷ Honoure all men. Loue brotherlye felowship. Feare God, and honour the kynge.

⁷ Lykewyse ye men dwell wyth them accordynge to knoweledge, geuynge honoure vnto the wyfe, as vnto the weaker vessell, and as vnto them that are heyres also of the grace of lyfe, that youre prayers be not let.

¹⁰ And thou shalt dwell in the lande of Gosan and be by me: both thou and thy children, and thy chyldrens chylderen: and thy shepe, and beastes & all that thou hast. ¹¹ There wyll I make prouisyon for the: for there remayne yet .v. yeres of derth, lest thou and thy housholde and all that thou hast perysh.

¹² And Ioseph made prouysion for hys father, hys brethren & all hys fathers housholde, as yonge chyldren are fedd with bread.

²⁸ Moreouer Iacob, lyued in the lande of Egypte .xvij. yeres, so that the whole age of Iacob was an hundred & .xlvij. yere.

¹⁴ And he had fourtye sonnes, and thyrtye neuewes, that rode on .lxx. asse coltes. And when Abdon the sonne of Helle the Pharatonite had iudged Israell .viij. yere,

² And Ruth the Moabitesse sayd vnto Noemi, let me go to the felde and lease and gather eares, after whomsoeuer I fynde grace in his syghte. And she sayde vnto her: go my doughter.

¹⁸ And she toke it vp & went to the city, & shewed her mother in law what she had gathered. And therto she plucked oute, & gaue to her that she had reserued when she had eaten ynough.

³ And Dauid went thence to Mazphah in the lande of Moab, and sayde vnto the kynge of Moab: Let my father and mother I praye the, haue their abidinge with you, tyl I knowe what God wil do with me. ⁴ And he lefte them with the kyng of Moab, and they dwelt wyth hym all the whyle that Dauid kepte him selfe in holdes.

¹⁹ He shall nether haue chyldren nor kynsfolckes amonge his people, no, ner eny posterite in his countre:

²⁸ Koph. Her chyldren arise, and call her blessed: & her husbande maketh much of her.

²² I will stande vp against them (sayeth the Lorde of Hostes) and rote out the name & generacyon of Babylon (sayeth the Lorde)

⁴ For God commaunded saying: honoure thy father and mother, and he that curseth father or mother shall suffre death. ⁵ But ye saye, euery man shal say to hys father or mother: that which thou desirest of me to helpe the with: is geuen to God, ⁶ and so shall he not honour hys father or mother. And thus haue ye made, that the commaundement of God is without effecte, thorow your tradicions.

¹¹ But ye saye a man shall saye to father or mother Corban: whiche is, that thou desirest me to helpe the with, is geuen God. ¹² And so ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother, ¹³ makynge the worde of God of none effect, thorowe youre owne tradicions, which you haue ordeyned. And many suche thinges ye do.

⁵¹ And he went with them, and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them: But his mother kepte al these sayinges in her herte.

¹ Chyldren obeye youre fathers and mothers in the Lorde: for so is it ryght. ² Honoure thy father and mother, that is the fyrst commaundemente that hath anye promes, ³ that thou mayeste be in good estate, and liue longe on the earth.

³ For that is good and accepted in the syghte of God oure sauyoure,

¹² The Lord quite thy worck, & a full reward be geuen the of the Lord God of Israel vnto whom thou art come, to truste vnder hys winges.

⁴ He shall couer the vnder hys wynges, that thou mayest be safe vnder his fethers: his faythfulnesse & trueth shalbe thy shylde and buckler.

²⁶ At that time shal their gates mourne & complayne, and they shall sitte as desolate folck vpon the earth.

² Beholde, God is my health, in whom I trust, & am not afraid. For the Lorde God is my strength and my praise, he also shalbe my refuge.

²¹ Then shalt thou thincke by thy self: Who hath begotten me these: seing I am baren & alone, a captyue & an oute cast? And who hath noryshed them vp for me? I am desolate and alone, but from whence come these?

¹⁰ Therfore who so feareth the Lorde among you let hym heare the voyce of hys seruaunt, Who so walketh in darcknesse, and no lyghte shyneth vpon hym, let hym hope in the Lord, and holde hym by his God.

¹ Therfore be glad nowe, thou baren that bearest not. Reioyce, singe, and be mery, thou that arte not with chyld. For the desolate hath mo children, then the maried wife sayeth the Lorde.

¹³ Mem. From aboute hath he sent downe a fyre into my bones and chastened me: he hath layed a net for my fete, and throwen me wyde open: he hath made me desolate, so that I must euer be mournynge.

¹ And he put forth a similitude vnto them signifyeng that men ought alwaies to pray, & not to be werye,

⁷ And shall not God aduenge his electe, which crye daye and nyghte vnto hym, ye though he defarre them?

⁷ vnto whyche promys our .xij. trybes instantlye, seruynge God daie and nighte hope to come. For whiche hopes sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Iewes.

⁵ by whom we haue receyued grace and Apostleshyp, to brynge all maner heathen people vnto the obedience of the fayth that is in his name:

¹² that is that I might haue consolacion together wyth you through the common fayth, whiche both ye and I haue.

²⁰ So that his inuisible thinges, that is to saye, hys eternall power and Godhead, are vnderstand & sene by the workes from the creation of the worlde. So that they are wythout excuse, ²¹ in as muche as when they knewe God, they glorifyed him not as God, neither were thankful, but waxed full of vanities in theyr Imaginations, and their folishe hertes were blinded.

³² I would haue you without care. The single man careth for the thinges of the Lorde howe he maye please the Lorde.

³⁴ There is difference betwene a virgine and a wyfe. The single woman careth for the thinges of the Lorde, that she maye be pure both in bodye and also in spyryte. But she that is maried, careth for the thinges of the worlde, howe she maye please her husbande.

¹⁸ And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes,

¹⁶ And yf any man or woman that beleueth haue wydowes, let them mynyster vnto them, & lette not the congregacion be charged: that it maye haue suffycyent for them that are wyddowes in dede.

⁵ For after thys maner in the olde tyme dyd the holye women whiche trusted in God, tyer them selues, and were obedyente to theyr husbandes

⁵⁴ so that it shal greue the man that is tender and exceadynge delycate amonge you, to loke on hys brother and vpon his wyfe that lyeth in hys bosome, & on the remnaunte of his chyldren which he hath yet lefte,

⁵⁶ Yea, and the woman that is so tender & delycate among you that she dare not aduenture to sett the sole of her foote vpon the grounde for softnesse and tendernesse, shalbe greued to loke on the husbande that lyeth in her bosome and on her sonne & on her daughter:

³² Then sayde Samuel: Bryng ye hyther to me Agag the Kynge of the Amaleckytes. And Agag came vnto hym delycately. And Agag said: truly the bytternesse of death cometh on. And Samuel sayde:

⁶ And thus wyse saye vnto my frende: peace be to the, peace be to thyne house and peace be vnto all that thou hast.

¹¹ They sende forth their children by flockes, and their sonnes lead the daunce. ¹² They beare with them tabrettes and harpes, & haue instrumentes of musycke at their pleasure. ¹³ They spent their dayes in welthinesse: but sodenlye they go doune to hel. ¹⁴ They say vnto God: go from vs: we desyre not the knowledge of thy wayes. ¹⁵ What maner of felow is the Almightye, that we shoulde serue him? What profyt should we haue, to submitte oure selues vnto hym?

⁵ They come in no misfortune lyke other folke, neither are they plaged like other men. ⁶ And this is the cause that they be so puft vp in pryde, and ouerwhelmed with crueltie & vnrighteousnesse. ⁷ Their eyes swell for fatnesse, they do euen what they lyst.

²¹ He that delicately bringeth vp his seruaunt from a chyld, shall make hym hys master at length.

¹³ But they to fulfil their lust and wilfulnes, slaughter oxen: they kyll shepe, they eate costly meate, and drincke wyne, let vs eate and drincke, to morow we shall dye.

¹ Bvt as for the (O daughter thou virgin Babylon) Thou shalt syt in the dust thou shalt sit vpon the grounde, & not in a trone (O thou mayden of Chaldea.) Thou shalt no more be called tender and pleasaunt.

² I wyll licken the doughter Syon to a fayr and tendre woman, and to her shall come the shepeherdes with theyr flockes.

⁵ He. They that were wonte to fayre delicatly, peryshe in the streates: they that a fore were brought vp in purple, make now moche of donge.

⁵ ye that singe to the lute, & in playenge of instrumentes compare youre selues vnto Dauid: ⁶ ye that drincke wyne oute of goblettes, and annoynte youre selues with the best oyle, but no man is sorye for Iosephs hurte.

²² But Iesus sayd vnto hym folowe me, and let the dead burye their deade.

²⁵ But what went ye out for to se? a man clothed in softe raiment? Beholde they which are gorgeouslye apparilled, and lyue delicatly are in kinges courtes.

¹⁹ and I wyll saye to my soule: Soule thou hast muche goodes layde vp in store for many yeares: take thyne ease, eate, drinke, and be mery.

¹³ And not longe after, the yonger sonne gathered all that he had together, & toke hys iorneye into a farre countrye, & there he wasted hys goodes with ryetous liuing.

²⁴ for thys my sonne was dead, and is alyue agayne, he was lost and is nowe founde. And they beganne to be mery.

³² It was mete that we shoulde make merye, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue again and was loste, and is founde.

¹⁹ There was a certayne ryche man, whiche was clothed in purple and fyne bysse, & fared delyciously euery daye,

¹⁴ For the loue of Christ constrayneth vs, because we thus iudge, yf one be dead, for all that then are all dead, ¹⁵ and that he dyed for all, that they which lyue, shoulde not hence forth lyue vnto them selues, but vnto hym, whiche dyed for them, and rose agayne.

¹ And you hath he quickened also that were deade in treaspas & synne,

⁵ euen when we were dead by synne, hath quickened vs together in Christ (for by grace are ye saued)

¹⁴ Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest, and stand vp from death, and Christ shall geue the lyght.

¹³ And ye which were dead in sinne thorow the vncircumcision of youre fleshe, hath he quyckened with him, and hath forgeuen vs al oure treaspases.

⁵ Ye haue lyued in pleasure on the earth, & in wantonnes. Ye haue norished your hertes, as in a day of slaughter

¹ And write vnto the messenger of the congregation of Sardis, this sayth he that the spyryte of God & the .vij. starres. I know thy workes, thou hast a name, thou lyuest and thou arte deade.

⁷ And as muche as she glorified her selfe and lyued wantonly, so muche poure ye in for her of punishment, & sorowe, for she said in her herte: I sytte being a quene and am no wydowe, and shall se no sorowe.

³ And I besought the to abyde styl in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, euen so do, that thou commaunde some, that they teache no nother wyse:

¹¹ Suche thynges commaunde and teache.

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them,

¹ I testifye therfore before God, & before the Lord Iesu Christe, which shall iudge quycke and deade in hys appearyng in his kyngedome,

¹³ Thys wytnesse is true, wherfore rebuke them sharply that they may be sounde in the fayth,

¹⁵ These thynges speake, and exhorte, and rebuke, wyth all commaundyng. Se that no man despyse the.

³⁰ For it was but lytle that thou haddest before I came, & now it is increased into a multytude, & the Lord hath blessed the for my sake. But now when shal I make prouision for myne owne house also.

⁷ It pleaseth not me, tyll thou deale thy breade to the hungry, and brynge the poore fatherlesse home into thy house, when thou seyste the naked that thou couer him, and hyde not thy face from thyne owne fleshe.

¹¹ Yf ye then whyche are euyll, can geue to youre chyldren good gyftes: howe muche more shall your father whiche is in heauen, geue good thinges to them that axe hym?

¹⁷ If he heare not them, tell it vnto the congregacion. If he heare not the congregacion, take hym as a Heathen man, & as a publican.

¹¹ Yf the sonne shall axe bread of any of you that is a father, will he geue him a stone? Or yf he axe fishe, will he for a fishe geue hym a serpente? ¹² Or yf he axe an egge, wyl he offer hym a scorpion? ¹³ Yf ye then which are euill, can geue good gyftes vnto youre chyldren, howe much more shall the father of heauen geue an holy spirite to them that desyre it of hym?

⁴⁷ The seruaunt that knewe hys maysters wyl, and prepared not hym selfe, neyther dyd accordynge to his will, shalbe beaten with many strypes. ⁴⁸ But he that knewe not, & yet dyd commytte thynges worthye of strypes, shalbe beaten with fewe stripes. For vnto whome muche is geuen, of him shalbe muche requyred. And to whom men muche committe, the more of hym will they axe.

²² Yf I had not come, and spoken vnto them, they should not haue had synne: but now haue they nothynge to cloke theyr synne with all.

¹⁵ For we are vnto God the swete sauoure of Christe, bothe amonge them that are saued, and also among them whiche peryshe. ¹⁶ To the one part are we the sauoure of death vnto death. And vnto the other parte are we the lauoure of lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is mete vnto these thynges?

¹⁵ What concorde hath Christe with Belyall? Eyther what parte hath he that beleueth with an infydele?

¹⁴ Behold the now thyrde time I am redy to come vnto you, and yet wyll I not be greuouse vnto you. For I seke not yours, but you. Also the chyldren ought not to lay vp for the fathers & mothers but the fathers a mothers for the chyldren.

¹⁰ Whyle we haue therfore tyme, let vs do good vnto all men, and specially vnto them which are of the houshold of faythe.

⁵ hauynge a simylytude of Godly lyuynge, but haue denyed the power thereof: and suche abhorre.

¹⁶ They confesse that they knowe God: but wyth the dedes they denye hym, and are abhomynable and dysobedient, and vnto all good workes discommendable.

¹ There were false prophetes among the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers amonge you, which priuilie shal bringe in damnable sectes, euen denyenge the Lorde that hath bought them and bringe vpon them selues swyft dampnacion,

⁴ For there are certayne craftely crept in, of which it was wrytten afore tyme vnto suche iudgement. They are vngodlye & turne the grace of oure God vnto wantonnes, and denye God the onelye Lorde, and oure Lord Iesus Christe.

¹³ I know thy workes, and where thou dwellest euen where Sathans seate is, and thou kepest my name, and hast not denyed my fayth. And in my dayes, Antypas was a faithful wytnes of myne whych was slaine among you, where Sathan dwelleth.

⁸ I know thy workes. Beholde I haue set before the an open doore, and no man can shut it, for thou hast a lytel strength, and hast kept my saiynges: and hast not denyed my name,

³⁶ And ther was a prophetesse, one Anna the doughter of Phanuell of the trybe of Aser which was of a great age, and had liued with her housbande .vij. yeares from her virginitie. ³⁷ And she had bene a weddowe aboute .iiij. score and .iiij. yeares, which went neuer out of the temple, but serued God with fastinge and prayer night & daye.

¹⁰ Vnto the maryed commaunded not I but the Lorde: that the wyfe separate not her selfe from the man. ¹¹ Yf she separate her selfe, let her remayne vnmaryed, or be reconcilied to her husband againe. And let not the husband put away his wife from him.

³⁹ The wife is bounde to the lawe as longe as her husband liueth. If her husbande slepe, she is at libertye to mary with whome she wyll, onely in the Lorde. ⁴⁰ But she is happyer if she so abyde, in my iudgemente. And I thinke verely that I haue the spirite of God.

² Yea and a bishop muste be fautlesse the husband of one wyfe, sober discrete, hone style apparelled, harberous, apt to teache,

¹² Let the deacons be the husbandes of one wyfe, and suche as rule theyr chyldren well, and theyr owne housholdes.

³ Honour wyddowes, whiche are true wyddowes. ⁴ Yf any wyddowe haue chyldren or neues, let them learne fyrst to rule theyr owne houses godlye and to recompence theyr elders. For that is good and acceptable before God.

¹¹ The yonger wydowes refuse. For when they haue begonne to waxe wanton to the dyshonoure of Christe, then wyll they marye,

¹⁴ I wyll therfore that the yonger women marye and beare children, and guyde the house and geue none occasyon to the aduersarye to speake euyll.

⁴ Let a lytle water be fet, and wash youre fete, and rest youre selues vnder the tree:

² And he sayde: Se Lordes, turne in I praye you in to youre seruauntes house and tary all nyghte and wash youre fete and ryse vp earlye and go on your wayes. And they sayde: nay, but we wyll byde in the streates all nyghte.

³² And then the man came into the house: & he vnbrideled the camels: & brought litter & prauender for the camels, & water to washe hys fete & their fete that were wt hym,

³⁵ If thy brother be waxed pore and fallen in decay with the, receiue him as a straunger or a soiourner, & let him lyue by th

⁴ Thou haste geuen strayte charge to kepe thy commaundementes.

¹⁷ Lerne to do right, applye youre selues to equite, delyuer the oppressed, helpe the fatherlesse to hys ryght, let the wyddowes complaynte come before you.

¹⁶ Let your light so shyne before men that they maye se your good workes, and gloryfye your father which is in heauen.

³⁸ and she stode at his fete behinde him wepinge, and began to washe his fete with teares, and dyd wype them wyth the heares of her head, and kyshed his fete, and annoynted them with oyntment.

⁴⁴ And he turned to the woman, and sayde vnto Symon: Seist thou this woman? I entred into thy house, and thou gauest me no water to my fete, but she hath washed my fete with teares and wyped them wyth the heyres of her head.

⁵ After that poured he water into a bason, & began to wash hys discyples fete, and to wype them wyth a towell, wherewith he was gyrde. ⁶ Then came he to Symon Peter. And Peter sayde vnto hym: Lorde shalt thou washe my fete? ⁷ Iesus aunswered, and sayed vnto him: what I do, thou wotest not nowe, but thou shalt knowe hereafter. ⁸ Peter sayed vnto him: thou shalt not washe my fete whyle the worlde standeth. Iesus aunswered hym: yf I washe the not, thou shalte haue no parte with me. ⁹ Simon Peter sayed vnto him: Lord not my fete onelye: but also my handes and my heade. ¹⁰ Iesus sayed vnto hym: he that is washed, neadeth not saue to washe hys fete, and is cleane euery whyt. And ye are cleane: but not al. ¹¹ For he knewe hys betrayer. Therfore sayed he: ye are not all cleane. ¹² After he had washed theyr fete, and receyued hys clothes, and was set doune agayne, he sayed vnto them. Wote ye what I haue done to you? ¹³ Ye call me mayster and Lorde, & ye saye well, for so am I. ¹⁴ Yf I then your lord and mayster haue washed your fete, ye also ought to wash one anothers fete. ¹⁵ For I haue geuen you an ensample, that ye shoulde do as I haue done to you.

³ Wherfore brethren, loke ye out amonge you seuen men of honeste reporte, and full of the holye ghoste and wysdome, whyche we maye apoint to this nedfull busines.

³⁶ Ther was at Ioppa a certaine woman, (which was a disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Doreas) the same was ful of good workes and almes dedes, whiche she did.

²² And they sayde vnto him: Cornelius the captaine, a iuste man, and one that feareth God, and of good reporte amonge al the people of the Iewes, was warned by an holye aungel to sende for the into hys house, and to heare wordes of the.

¹⁴ And a certayne woman named Lydia a seller of purple of the citie of Thiatyra, which worshypped God, gaue vs audience. Whose hart the Lorde opened, that she attended vnto the thynges whiche Paul spake. ¹⁵ When she was baptysed and her housholde, she besoughte vs saiyng: Yf ye thynke that I beleue on the Lord come into my house, and abyde there. And she constrayned vs.

¹² And one Ananias a perfecte man, and as pertaynynge to the lawe hauynge good reporte of all the Iewes whiche there dwelte,

¹³ Distribute vnto the necessitie of the Saynctes, and be diligente to harboure.

¹⁰ For we are his worckmanshyp created in Christe Iesus to good workes, vnto the, whyche God ordeined vs before, that we should walke in them.

¹⁰ that ye mighte walke worthy of the Lorde in all thinges, that please him beyng frutefull in all good workes, and encreasing in the knowledge of God

¹⁰ but wyth suche as becommeth women that professe the worshyppyng of God thorowe good workes.

⁷ He muste also be well reported of amonge them whiche are wythout forth, lest he fall into rebuke and snare of the euyll speaker.

²⁵ Lykewyse also good workes are manyfest before hande, and they that are otherwyse can not be hyd.

¹⁸ and that they do good and be ryche in good workes, and readye to geue and to distrybute,

⁵ when I call to remembraunce the vnfayned fayth, that is in the, whiche dwelte fyrste in thy graundmother Loys, and in thy mother Eunica: and am assured that it dwelleth in the also.

²¹ But yf a man purge hym self from suche felowes, he shalbe a vessell sanctyfyed vnto honoure, mete for the Lorde, & prepared vnto all good workes.

¹⁵ and for as muche also as thou haste knowen holy scrypture of a chyld, whiche is able to make the wyse vnto saluacion thorowe the fayth which is in Christ Iesu.

¹⁷ that the man of God maye be perfecte and prepared vnto all good workes.

⁷ Aboue all thynges shewe thy selfe an ensample of good workes wyth vncorrupt doctryne wyth honesty,

¹⁴ whiche gaue hym selfe for vs, to redeme vs from al vnryghtuousnes and to pourge vs a peculyar people vnto him selfe, feruently geuen vnto good workes.

¹ Warne them that they submytte them selues to rule and power to obeye the offycers that they be ready vnto al good workes

⁸ Thys is a true saiynge. Of these thynges I would thou shouldest certyfye, that they whiche beleue God, might be dylygent to go forwarde in good workes. These thynges are good and profytable vnto men.

¹⁴ And let oures also learne to excell in good workes as farforthe, as nede requyreth, that they be not vnfruteful.

²⁴ and let vs consyder one another to prouoke vnto loue, and to good workes:

² Be not forgetfull to lodge straungers. For therebye haue diuers receyued Angels into theyr houses vnwares.

²¹ make you perfecte in all good workes, to do hys wyl, workynge in you that whiche is pleasaunte in hys syghte thorowe Iesus Christe. To whom be prayse for euer whyle the worlde endureth. Amen.

¹² and se that ye haue honest conuersacyon amonge the Gentyls, that they whiche backbyte you as euyll doars, maye se youre good workes and prayse God in the daye of visitacyon.

⁹ Be ye herberous one to another, & that without grudginge.

¹² Demetrius hath good report of al men, and of the trueth, yea: & we our selues also beare recorde, and ye knowe that oure recorde is true.

¹⁵ And Israel waxed fat and kycked. Thou wast fat, thycke and smothe. And he let God goo that made him & despised the rocke that saued him.

¹⁶ Moreouer thus sayth the Lorde: Seynge the doughters of Sion are become so proude, and come in with stretched oute neckes, and with vayne wanton eyes: seynge they come in tryppynge so nycely with their fete:

⁶ But when they were wel fedde & had ynough, they waxed proude, and forgat me.

³ forbyddyng to marye, and commaundynge to abstayne from meates which God hath created to be receyued wyth geuyng thankes, of them which beleue and know the trueth.

⁹ Let no wydowe be chosen vnder thre score yere olde, and suche a one as was the wyfe of one man,

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours.

³⁴ If any man hunger, let hym eate at home, that ye come not together vnto condempnation. Other thynges wil I set in order when I come.

⁶ I maruayle that ye are so sone turned from hym that called you in the grace of Christ, vnto an other Gospell:

¹ My brethren be not euery man a mayster, remembrynge howe that we shal receyue the more damnacyon:

¹⁷ For the time is come that iudgemente must beginne at the house of God. Yf it fyrst begynne at vs, what shal the ende be of them, whiche beleue not the Gospel of God?

⁴ Neuertheles I haue somwhat agaynste the, for thou hast left thy fyrst loue. ⁵ Remember therfore from whence thou arte fallen, and repente, and do the fyrste workes. Or els I wil come vnto the shortlye, and wil remoue thy candelsticke out of his place, excepte thou repent.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not goo vp & doune a preuy accusee amonge thy people, nether shalt thou helpe to shedde the bloud of thy neyghbour: I am the Lorde.

¹⁹ Medle not with hym that bewrayeth secretes, and is a sclaunderer, and disceaueth with hys lippes.

²⁷ Zade. She loketh well to the wayes of her housholde, & eateth not her bread with ydelnes.

⁷ And in the same house tary styll, eatynge and drinckynge suche as they haue. For the labourer is worthy of thys rewarde. Go not from house to house,

²⁰ and howe I kept backe nothyng that was profytable, but that I haue shewed you, and taughte you openlye, and at home in your houses,

³⁰ Moreouer of your own selues shal men aryse speakyng peruerse thinges to draw disciples after them.

⁶ We requyre you brethren in the name of oure Lorde Iesu Christ, that ye wythdrawe your selues from euerye brother that walketh inordinatelye and not after the institucyon whiche ye receyued of vs. ⁷ Ye youre selues knowe howe ye oughte to folowe vs. For we behaued not oure selues inordinately among you. ⁸ Neyther toke we bread of anye man for nought: but wroughte wyth laboure and trauayle nyght and daye, because we would not be greuous to anye of you: ⁹ not but that we had authorytye: but to make oure selues as ensample vnto you, to folowe vs. ¹⁰ For when we were with you thys we warned you of, that yf there were any whiche woulde not worke, that the same shoulde not eate. ¹¹ We haue hearde say no doubte that there are some whiche walke amonge you inordinately and worke not at all, but are besye bodyes.

¹¹ whose mouthes must be stopped: whiche peruerte whole houses teachynge thynges whiche they oughte not because of fylthy lucre.

¹⁰ Out of one mouth proceadeth blessynge and curssynge. My brethren these thynges ought not so to be.

¹⁵ Se that none of you suffer as a murtherer or as a thefe, or an euil doar, or as a busibody in other mens matters.

¹⁰ Wherfore yf I come, I wyl declare his dedes, whiche he doth, resting on vs wyth malicious wordes, neyther is there wyth contente. Not onlye he hym selfe receyueth not the brethren, but also he forbyddeth them that woulde, and thrusteth them out of the congregacyon.

⁶ And Abraham went a pace in to hys tent vnto Sara and sayd: make redy attonce thre peckes of fyne meale, kneade it and make cakes.

⁹ And they sayd vnto hym: Where is Sara thy wyfe? And he sayde: in the tent.

¹⁴ Howe be it because in doynge this deede thou hast geuen the enemyes of the Lorde a cause to rayle, the chyld that is borne the shall dye surelye.

²⁷ Zade. She loketh well to the wayes of her housholde, & eateth not her bread with ydelnes. ²⁸ Koph. Her chyldren arise, and call her blessed: & her husbande maketh much of her. ²⁹ Res. Many daughters there be that gather riches together, but thou goest aboue them all.

⁴ Wherfore the Prynces and Lordes soughte, to pycke oute in Danyel some quarell agaynst the kyngdom: yet coulde they fynde none occasyon nor faute vpon hym. For why? he was so faythful, that there was no blame nor dyshonestye founde in hym.

³⁵ And the people stode and behelde. And the rulers mocked him with them saiyng: he holpe other men let him helpe him selfe, if he be Christ the chosen of God. ³⁶ The souldiers also mocked him and came and gaue him vineger ³⁷ and sayed: if thou be that kinge of the Iewes, saue thy selfe. ³⁸ And his superscription was wrytten ouer him, in greke in latine and in Hebrew: This is the kinge of the Iewes: ³⁹ And one of the euyll doers which hanged, rayled on him saiynge. If thou be Christ saue thy selfe and vs. ⁴⁰ The other aunswered and rebuked him saiyng. Neither fearest thou God, because thou art in the same damnacion? ⁴¹ We are ryghtuously punished, for we receyued accordinge to our dedes. But this man hath done nothinge amisse.

¹³ Let vs not therfore iudge one another anye more. But iudge thys rather, that no man put a stumblynge blocke or an occasyon to falle in hys brothers waye.

⁸ I saye vnto the vnmaryed men and wyddowes: it is good for them, if they abyed euen as I do. ⁹ But and if they cannot abstayne, let them mary. For it is better to mary, then burne.

¹² Neuerthelesse what I do, that wyll I do, to cut awaye occasyon from them which desyre occasyon, that they myght be founde lyke vnto vs in that wherein they reioyce.

⁸ I wyll therfore that the men praye euerye where lyfting vp pure handes wythout wrath or doubtyng.

¹ Let as manye seruauntes as are vnder the yoke, count theyr maysters worthy of all honoure that the name of God and hys doctryne be not euyll spoken of.

⁵ to be dyscret, chast, huswyfly, good & obedyent vnto theyr owne husbandes, that the word of God be not euyl spoken of.

⁸ and wyth the wholesom worde, which cannot be rebuked, that he which wythstandeth, maye be ashamed, hauyng nothynge in you that he maye disprayse.

⁴ Let wedlocke be had in pryce in all poyntes, and let the chambre be vndefyled: for whorekepers and aduouterers God wyll iudge.

¹⁴ If ye be railed vpon for the name of Christ, happie are ye. For the spyryte of glorye, and the spyryte of Gad resteth vpon you. On theyr parte he is euyll spoken of, but on your parte he is glorified. ¹⁵ Se that none of you suffer as a murtherer or as a thefe, or an euil doar, or as a busibody in other mens matters.

¹⁰ Then sayd Iesus vnto him. Auoide sathan. For it is wrytten, thou shalt worshippe the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serue.

¹⁸ For many walke (of whom I haue tolde you often, and nowe tel you weping) that they are the enemies of the crosse of Christ, ¹⁹ whose ende is dampnation, whose God is theyr belye, and whose glorye is to theyr shame, whiche are worldlye minded.

²⁰ Of whose numbre is Himeneus and Alexander whome I haue delyuered vnto Sathan that he myghte be taught not to blaspheme.

¹⁵ Thys thou knowest howe that all they whiche are in Asia, be turned from me. Of whiche sorte are Phygelos and Hermogenes.

¹⁸ which as concernyng the truethe haue erred, saiynge that the resurreccyon is past alredy, and do destroye the fayth of diuers persons.

² and many shal folowe theyr damnable wayes, by whiche the way of trueth shalbe euyl spoken of,

²⁰ For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthines of the worlde thorowe the knowledge yf the Lord and of the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worsse wyth them then the beginninge. ²¹ For it had bene better for them not haue knowen the way of rightuousnes then after they haue knowen it to turne from the commaundementes geuen vnto them. ²² It is happened to them accordinge to the true prouerbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet againe, and the sowe that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

¹⁶ yea, almoste in euery epistle speakinge of such thinges, amonge whiche are manye thinges harde to be vnderstande, which they that are vnlearned, and vnstable, peruert, as they do other scriptures vnto their owne destruccion.

¹⁹ They went out from vs, but they were not of vs. For yf they had bene of vs: they woulde no doubte, haue continued wyth vs. But that fortuned, that it myghte appeare, that they were not of vs.

⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also.

⁸ Yf there be anye that prouideth not for hys owne, & namely for them of hys housholde the same denyeth the fayth, & is worsse then an infydele.

⁹ And as sone as they were ouer, Eliah sayde to Elizeus, aske what I shall do for the yeare I be taken away from the. And Elizeus said: let me I pray the, haue thy spirite double in me.

² conforte Ierusalem, and tell her: that her trauayle is at an ende that her offence is pardoned, that she hath receyued of the Lordes hande sufficient correccyon for all her synnes.

¹⁸ But firste wyll I sufficientlye rewarde their shamefull blasphemies and synnes, wherwyth they haue defyled my lande: Namely, wyth their stinckyng Idols and obhominacions, wherwith they haue fylled myne heretage.

¹⁸ Let my persecuters be confounded, but not me: let them be afrayed, and not me. Thou shalt bringe vpon them the tyme of their plage, and shalt destroye them right sore.

¹² Turne you nowe to the strong holde, ye that be in preson, & long sore to be delyuered: And this daye I brynge the word, that I wil rewarde the double agayn.

³⁷ Then sayde he to his disciples: the herueste is greate, but the labourers are fewe. ³⁸ Wherfore pray the Lord of the haruest to send forth labourers into his haruest.

²⁵ Take hede, I haue tolde you before.

¹ After these thynges, the Lord appoynted other seuentye also: and sent them, two & two before him into euery citie and place, whyther he hym selfe woulde come. ² And he sayed vnto them, the haruest is great, but the laborers are fewe. Praye therfore the Lorde of the harueste, to sende forth laborers into hys haruest.

⁴² And the Lorde sayd: Yf there be any faithful seruaunte and wyse, whom hys Lorde shall make ruler ouer hys housholde, to geue them theyr dutye of meate at due season:

³⁸ I sente you to reape that wheron ye bestowed no laboure. Othere men laboured, and ye are entred into theyr laboures.

³⁰ Whiche thynge they also dyd, and sente it to the elders, by the handes of Barnabas and Saule.

³⁵ I haue shewed you all thinges, how that so laborynge ye ought to receyue the weake & to remember the wordes of the lorde Iesu, how that he sayde: it is more blessed to geue then to receyue.

¹⁰ And they dyd vs great honoure. And when we departed they loded vs with thinges necessary.

⁸ Let hym that exhorteth, geue attendaunce to hys exhortacyon. Yf any man geue, let hym do it with singlenes. Let him that ruleth do it with diligence. Yf anye man shew mercy let hym do it with cherfulnes.

²⁷ It hath pleased them verely, and theyr detters are they. For yf the gentyles be made partakers of theyr spirituall thynges, theyr dutye is to ministre vnto them in carnall thynges.

¹² Salute Tryphena and Triphosa, whiche women dyd laboure in the Lorde. Salute the beloued Persis, which laboured in the Lorde.

⁹ We are Goddes labourer, ye are Goddes husbandrye ye are Goddes buyldinge.

⁵ Either haue we not power to leade aboute a syster to wyfe as well as other Apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? ⁶ Either onely I and Barnabas haue not power this to do? ⁷ who goeth a warfare anye time at hys owne cost? Who planteth a vineiarde, and eateth not of the fruite? Who fedeth a flocke and eateth not of the mylke? ⁸ Saye I these thinges after the maner of men? Or sayeth not the lawe the same also? ⁹ For it is written in the lawe of Moyses. Thou shalt not mosell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne. Doeth God take thought for oxen? ¹⁰ Either saith he it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubte this is written: that he whiche eareth, shoulde eare in hope: & that he whych thresheth in hope, should be partaker of hys hope. ¹¹ Yf we sowe vnto you spyrytuall thinges: is it a great thinge yf we reape youre carnall thinges. ¹² Yf other be partakers of this power ouer you: wherfore are not we rather? Neuerthelesse we haue not vsed thys power but suffer all thinges leste we shoulde hinder the Gospell of Christe ¹³ Do ye not vnderstande howe that they whiche minister in the temple, haue their fyndynge of the temple? And they whych wayte at the aulter, are partakers of the aulter? ¹⁴ Euen so also dyd the Lord ordaine, that they which preach the Gospel, shoulde lyue of the Gospell.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am that I am. And his grace which is in me, was not in vaine, but I laboured more aboundantly then they al, not I but the grace of God which is with me.

¹⁶ I beseche you that ye be obedient vnto suche, and to all that helpe and laboure.

¹ We as healpers therfore exhorte you, that ye receyue not the grace of God in vayne.

⁶ Let hym that is taughte in the worde, mynyster vnto him that teacheth hym, in al good thynges.

¹⁶ holding fast the worde of life, vnto my reioysing in the daye of Christe, that I haue not runne in vayne, neyther haue laboured in vaine.

²⁹ Receiue him therfore in the Lorde wyth al gladnes, and make muche of suche:

³ Yea, and I beseche the faythfull yockefelowe, helpe the women, whiche laboured wyth me in the Gospell, and with Clemente also, and with other my labour felowes, whose names are in the boke of my lyfe.

¹² We beseche you brethren, that ye knowe them, whiche laboure amonge you, and haue the ouersight of you in the Lord ¹³ and geue you exhortacyon, that ye haue them the more in loue for theyr workes sake, and be at peace wyth them.

⁵ For yf a man can not rule hys owne house, howe shall he care for the congregacion of God.

⁶ Yf thou shalt put the brethren in remembraunce of these thynges: thou shalt be a good mynyster of Iesu Christe, whiche hast bene noryshed vp in the wordes of the fayth and good doctryne, which doctryne thou haste contynuallye folowed.

¹⁰ For therfore we laboure and suffer rebuke, because we beleue in the lyuyng God, whiche is the sauyoure of all men: but specyally of those that beleue.

¹⁶ Take hede vnto thy selfe and vnto learnyng, and contynue therein. For yf thou shalte so do, thou shalte saue thy selfe and them that heare the.

⁶ The husbandman that laboureth must fyrste receyue of the frutes.

² preache the word, be feruent, be it in season or out of season. Improue, rebuke, exhorte, wyth all long suffering and doctryne.

⁷ Remembre them whiche haue the ouersyght of you, whiche haue declared vnto you the worde of God. The ende of whose conuersacyon se that ye loke vpon, and folowe theyr faythe.

¹⁷ Obeye them that haue the ouersyghte of you, and submyt your selues to them, for they watche for youre soules, euen as they that muste geue accomptes: that they maye do it wyth ioye, and not wyth griefe. For that is an vnprofytable thynge for you.

²⁴ Salute them that haue the ouersyghte of you, and all the sainctes. They of Italye salute you.

¹³ Thou shal not begyle thy neyghbour wyth cauyllacions, nether robbe him violently, nether shall the workmans laboure abyde with the vntyl the mornyng.

¹⁴ Thou shalt not defraude an hyred seruaunte that is nedye and poore whether he be of thy brethren or a straunger that is in thy land ¹⁵ with in thy cyties. Geue him his hyre the same daye, and let not the sonne go doune theron. For he is nedye and therwith susteyneth hys lyfe, lest he crye agaynst the vnto the Lord and it be synne vnto the.

⁴ Thou shalt not mosell the oxe that treadeth out the corne.

¹⁰ nor yet scrip towardes your yourney: neither two cotes neyther shues, nor yet a staste. For the worck man is worthye to haue his meate.

³ For what sayth the scripture? Abraham beleued God, and it was counted vnto hym for ryghteousnes.

¹⁷ For the scripture sayeth vnto Pharao. Euen for this same purpose haue I sterred the vp, to shewe my power on the and that my name myghte be declared thorowout al the worlde.

¹¹ For the scripture sayth whosoeuer beleueth on hym, shall not be ashamed.

² GOD hath not caste awaye hys people whiche he knewe before. Eyther wote ye not what the scripture sayth by the mouth of Helyas, how he maketh intercessyon to God agaynst Israel, saiynge:

⁷ who goeth a warfare anye time at hys owne cost? Who planteth a vineiarde, and eateth not of the fruite? Who fedeth a flocke and eateth not of the mylke? ⁸ Saye I these thinges after the maner of men? Or sayeth not the lawe the same also? ⁹ For it is written in the lawe of Moyses. ⁸ For the scripture sawe afore hand, that God woulde iustifye the heathen thorow fayth, & therfore shewed before hand glad tydynges vnto Abraham. In the shall all nacyons be blessed.

⁵ Eyther do ye thynke that the scrypture sayeth in vayne. The spyryte that dwelleth in you lusteth euen contrarye to enuye:

⁶ At the mouth of .ij. or .iij. wytnesses shal he that is worthy of death dye: but at the mouth of one witnes he shal not dye.

¹⁵ One witnesse shal not ryse agaynst a man in any maner tresspace or synne, what souer synne a man synneth: But at the mouthe of two witnesses or of .iii. witnesses shal al maters betryed.

¹⁸ & let the iudges enquyre a good. And yf the witnesse be founde false and that he hath geuen false wytnesse agaynst his brother ¹⁹ then shal ye do vnto him as he had thought to do vnto his brother, & so thou shalt put euell awaye from the.

¹⁶ But if he heare the not, then take yet with the one or two, that in the mouthe of two or thre witnesses, all thynges may be stablished.

¹⁷ It is also written in your lawe, that the testimony of two men is true.

²⁹ Pylate then wente oute vnto them, and sayde: what accusacion bringe ye agaynste this man?

² When Paule was called forth. Tartullus began to accuse hym, saiynge: Seynge that we lyue in a great quietnes by the meanes of the: & that manye good thynges are done vnto thys nacyon throughe thy prouidence: ³ that alowe we euer and in all places, most myghty Felix, wt all thankes. ⁴ Notwithstandyng that I be not tedyous vnto the. I praye the that thou wouldest heare vs of thy curtesy a fewe wordes. ⁵ We haue founde thys man a pestylent felowe, and a mouer of debate vnto all the Iewes thoroughout the world, and a mayntayner of the secte of the Nazarites, ⁶ and hath also enforsed to pollute the temple. Whome we toke, and woulde haue iudged accordynge to our law, ⁷ but the hye captayne Lysyas came vpon vs, and with great violence toke hym awaye out of our hande, ⁸ commaundyng hys accusars to come vnto the. Of whome thou mayest (yf thou wilt enquyre) knowe the certaintye of al these thynges, wherof we accuse hym. ⁹ The Iewes lykewyse affirmed, saiyng: that it was euen so. ¹⁰ Then Paule (after that the ruler him selfe had beckened vnto hym that he should speake) aunswered I shall with a more quyet mynde aunswere for my selfe, for as muche as I vnderstande that thou haste bene of manye yeares a iudge vnto thys people, ¹¹ because that thou mayest know that there are yet but .xij. dayes sence I wente vp to Ierusalem for to praye, ¹² & that they neyther founde me in the temple disputynge with anye man, eyther raysynge vp the people neither in the synagoges, nor in the citie. ¹³ Neyther can they proue the thynges wherof they accuse me.

¹⁶ To whome I aunswered: It is not the maner of the Romaynes to deliuer any man that he shoulde perishe, before that he whiche is accused, haue the accusers before hym, & haue licence to aunswere for him selfe concerninge the crime layde against him:

¹ Nowe come I the thyrde time vnto you. In the mouthe of two or three wytnesses shall euery thing stande.

⁶ Yf any be fautelesse, the husbande of one wyfe hauyng faythfull chyldren, whiche are not sclaundred of ryote, neyther are dysobedyent.

²⁸ He that despyseth Moyses lawe, dyeth wythout mercye vnder two or thre wytnesses

¹⁷ Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thyne hart but shalt in anye wyse rebuke thy neyghboure: that thou bere not synne for hys sake.

¹¹ And all Israel shal heare and feare and shal do no more any suche wyckednes as thys is amonge them.

¹³ And all the people shall heare, & shal feare, & shall do no more presumptuously.

²⁰ And other shall heare & feare and shal henceforth comyt no more any soche wickednesse among you.

²¹ Then let al the men of that citie stone him with stons vnto death And thou shalt put euell awaye from the, & all Israel shall heare & feare.

⁵ When Ananias hearde these wordes, he fell doune and gaue vp the ghost. And great feare came on all them that hearde these thinges.

¹¹ And great feare came on al the congregation, and on as manie as hearde it.

¹⁷ And this was knowen to al the Iewes and Grekes also, which dwelt at Ephesus, and feare came on them al, and they magnified the name of the Lord Iesus.

¹⁵ Ye shall do no vnryghteousnes in iudgement. Thou shalt uot fauoure the poore nor honoure the myghtye, but shalt iudge thy neygebour ryghteously.

⁷ departe therfore & take youre iourney and go vnto the hilles of the Amorites and vnto all places nye there vnto: both feldes, hylles and dales: and vnto the south & vnto the sea syde in the lande of Canaan, and vnto Libanon: euen vnto the greate ryuer Euphrates.

⁴³ Who so is wyse, & pondreth these thynges well, shal vnderstande the louyng kyndnesses of the Lorde.

³⁴ O geue me vnderstandyng, & I shall kepe thy lawe, yea I shal kepe it wyth my whole herte.

⁵ It is not good to a regarde the personne of the vngodly, or to put backe the ryghteous in iudgmente.

⁹ Therfore wil I also make you to be despised, and to be of no reputacion among al the people, because ye haue not kepte my wayes, but bene parcial in the lawe.

²⁷ For the sonne of man shall come in the glorye of hys father, wyth hys aungels: & then shall he rewarde euery man accordyng to his dedes.

⁴¹ Then shall the kinge saye vnto them that shalbe on the lyfte hande. Departe from me ye cursed, into euerlastinge fyre, which is prepared for the deuyll and hys angels.

²⁰ Teachyng then to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaunded you, And lo I am with you alwaye, euen vntyll the ende of the worlde.

²¹ And they axed him, saiynge: Mayster, we knowe that thou sayest and teachest right, neyther consyderest thou any mans degree, but teachest the waye of God truely.

³⁷ And Barnabas gaue counsell to take with them: Iohn called also Marke. ³⁸ But Paule thoughte it not mete to take hym vnto theyr companye whiche departed from them at Pamphilia, and went not with them to the worke.

¹⁶ Wherfore hence forthe knowe we no man after the fleshe. In so muche though we haue knowen Christe after the fleshe, nowe hence forth knowe we hym so no more.

²⁷ I charge you in the Lorde, that thys Epistle be read vnto all the holy brethren.

¹³ I geue the charge in the syght of GOD, whiche quickeneth all thynges, & before Iesu Christe whiche vnder Poncyus Pylate wytnessed a good wytnessynge,

¹⁴ Of these thynges put them in remembraunce, and testifye before the Lorde, that they stryue not aboute wordes: which is to no profyte, but to peruerte the hearers.

¹ Brethren haue not the faythe of oure Lorde Iesus Christe the Lorde of glorye in respect of persons. ² If there come into your company a man wyth a golden ring and in goodly apparell, and there come in also a pore man in vyle raymente, ³ and ye haue a respecte to hym that weareth the gaye clothynge, and saye vnto hym. Sitte thou here in a good place: and saye vnto the pore, stande thou there, or sitte here vnder my fotestole: ⁴ are ye not parcyall in your selues, and haue iudged after euyll thoughtes?

⁴ For yf God spared not the aungels that sinned but cast them downe into hell, and deliuered them into chayns of darckenes, to be kept vnto iudgement,

⁶ The aungels also whiche kepte not theyr fyrste estate: but lefte theyr habytacyon, he hath reserued in euerlastyng chaynes vnder darkenes vnto the iudgement of the greate daye:

⁷ And there was great battayle in heauen, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angells, ⁸ and preuayled not, neyther was theyr place found any more in heauen. ⁹ And the great dragon, that olde serpente called the deuyll and Sathanas was caste out. Whiche deceyueth al the worlde. And he was cast into the earth, and his angelles were cast out also.

¹⁰ the same shall drynke of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured in the cup of this wrath. And he shalbe punished in fyre & brimstone before the holy angels, and before the lambe.

¹⁴ And the men toke of their vitayles, and conceled not wyth the mouth of the Lorde.

⁶ Whiche they set before the Apostles, and they praied and laide their handes on them.

³ Then fasted they and prayed, and put theyr handes on them, & let them go.

⁶ And when they sayde contrary and blasphemed, he shoke his raymente and sayed vnto them, youre bloude vpon youre owne heades, & frome henceforth I go blameles vnto the gentils.

²⁶ Wherfore I take you to recorde this same daye that I am pure from the bloud of all men.

¹¹ and haue no fellowshyp wyth the vnfruitfull workes of darckenes: but rather rebuke them.

⁶ He maye not be a yong scholer, lest he swell and fall into the iudgement of the euyll speaker.

¹⁰ And let them fyrste be proued, and then lette them mynyster, yf they be founde fautlesse.

¹⁴ Despyse not the gyfte that is in the, whiche was geuen the thorow Prophesye, and wyth layinge on of the handes of an elder.

⁶ Wherfore I warne the that thou stere vp the gyfte of God whiche is in the, by the puttynge on of my handes.

² And what thynges thou hast hearde of me, manye bearyng wytnes, the same delyuer to faythfull men, whiche are apte to teache other.

⁵ For thys cause left I the in Crete, that thou shouldest performe that whiche was lackynge, and shouldest ordeyne elders in euery cytye as I appoynted the. ⁶ Yf any be fautelesse, the husbande of one wyfe hauyng faythfull chyldren, whiche are not sclaundred of ryote, neyther are dysobedyent. ⁷ For a byshoppe must be fautelesse, as it becommeth the mynister of God: not stubborne, not angrye, no dronkarde, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre: ⁸ but herberous one that loueth goodnes, sober mynded, ryghtuous, holy temperate, ⁹ and suche as cleaueth vnto the true worde of doctryne, that he maye be able to exhorte wyth wholesome learnynge, and to improue them, that saye agaynste it.

² of baptyme, of doctryne, and of layinge on of handes, and of resurreccion from death, and of eternal iudgemente.

¹¹ For he that biddeth him God spede, is partaker of his euyll dedes.

⁴ And I hearde another voice from heauen say: Come awaye from her my people, that ye be not partakers in her sinnes, & that ye receiue not of her plages.

⁹ dryncke no wyne, no strong drynke, neither thou nor thy sonnes wyth the: when ye go into the tabernacle of wytnes, lest ye dye. And let it be a lawe for euer vnto youre chyldren after you: ¹⁰ that ye may put difference betwene holy & vnholi, & betwene vncleane & cleane, ¹¹ and that ye may teach the chyldren of Israel al the ordinances whych the Lord hath commaunded them by the handes of Moses.

¹⁵ wyne to make glad the herte of man, oyle to make hym a chearfull countenaunce and bread to strength mans herte.

⁴ O Lamuel, geue kynges no wyne, geue kynges & princes no strong drincke: ⁵ lest they beyng dronken forget the law, & regarde not the cause of the poore, and of al such as be in aduersite. ⁶ Geue strong drinke vnto suche as are condempned to death, & wyne vnto those that mourne: ⁷ that they may drinke it, & forget their misery and aduersitie.

²¹ All the Prestes that go into the ynmost court, shall dryncke no wyne.

¹⁸ and be not drounke wt wyne. wherin is excesse, but be fulfylled wyth the spirite,

³ not dronken, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre: but gentle, abhorrynge fyghtyng, abhorrynge couetousnes,

⁸ Lykewyse muste the Deacons be honest, not double tonged, not geuen vnto much drinkynge, neyther vnto fylthy lucre:

⁴ For all the creatures of God are good & nothynge to be refused, yf it be receyued with thankes geuynge.

⁷ For a byshoppe must be fautelesse, as it becommeth the mynister of God: not stubborne, not angrye, no dronkarde, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre:

³ And the elder women lykewyse, that they be in such rayment as becommeth holynes, not false accusars, not geuen to muche drynkynge, but teachers of honest thinges

³⁴ Vpon thy wynges is founde the bloude of poore and innocent people, and that not in corners and holes onlye, but openly in all these places.

¹⁶ Ye men and brethren this scripture muste haue nedes ben fulfilled, which the holy ghost through the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, whiche was gyde to them that toke Iesus. ¹⁷ For he was noumbred wyth vs and had obtayned felowshype in this ministracion. ¹⁸ And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquitie, and when he was hanged, brast a sondre in the myddes. and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it is knowen vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem, in so much that, that felde is called in theyr mother tonge Acheldama, that is to say, the bloude fielde. ²⁰ It is written in the boke of Psalmes: His habitacion be voide, and no man be dwelling ther in: and his Byshoprycke let another take.

¹ A certain man named Ananyas with Saphira his wyfe solde a possession, ² and kept awaye parte of the price (hys wyfe also beyng of counsel,) and brought a certain parte, and layd it doune at the Apostles fete. ³ Then said Peter. Ananias, how is it, that Sathan hath fylled thyne hert, that thou shouldest lye vnto the holy ghost, and kepe awaye part of the pryce of the lyuelod: ⁴ Pertained it not vnto the onelie, and after it was solde, was not the price in thine owne power? Howe is that, thou hast conceiued this thinge in thyne herte? Thou hast not lied vnto men, but vnto God. ⁵ When Ananias hearde these wordes, he fell doune and gaue vp the ghost. And great feare came on all them that hearde these thinges. ⁶ And the younge men rose vp, and put him a parte and caryed hym out, and buried him. ⁷ And it fortuned as it were aboute the space of thre houres after that hys wyfe came in, ignoraunt of that whiche was done. ⁸ And Peter sayed vnto her: Tell me, gaue ye the lande for so much? And she said: ye for so much. ⁹ Then saied Peter vnto her: why haue ye agreed together to tempte the spiryte of the Lorde? Beholde, the fete of them whiche haue buried thy husbande, are at the dore, and shal cary the out. ¹⁰ Then she fell doune straighte waye at his fete, and yelded vp the ghoste. And the yonge men came in and founde her dead, and caryed her out & buried her by her housbande. ¹¹ And great feare came on al the congregation, and on as manie as hearde it.

¹⁸ When Simon saw that thorow laiyng on of the Apostles handes on them, the holy ghoste was geuen, he offred them money

¹⁹ The dedes of the flesh are manyfeste, which are these aduoutrye, fornicacyon, vncleannes, wantonnes, ²⁰ Idolatrye wytchecrafte, hatred, varyaunce, zele, wrathe stryfe, sedityon, sectes, ²¹ enuiynge, murther, drounkennes, glottonye, and suche lyke: of the whiche I tell you before, as I haue tolde you in tymes past, that they whiche commytte suche thynges shall not enheryte the kingdome of God.

²⁰ For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthines of the worlde thorowe the knowledge yf the Lord and of the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worsse wyth them then the beginninge. ²¹ For it had bene better for them not haue knowen the way of rightuousnes then after they haue knowen it to turne from the commaundementes geuen vnto them.

⁵ Committe thy waye vnto the Lorde, sette thy hope in hym, and he shall brynge it too passe. ⁶ He shal make thy righteousnesse as cleare as the light, & thy iust dealynge as the noone daye.

⁹ He that leadeth an innocente lyfe, walketh surelye: but who so goeth a wrong way, shalbe knowne,

³ But when thou doest thine almes, let not thy lyft hande knowe what thy ryght hande doth, ⁴ that thyne almes may be secrete: and thy father whiche seeth in secrete, shall rewarde the openly. ⁵ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hipocrites are. For they loue to stande and praye in the sinagoges, and in the corners of the stretes, and because they wolde be seane of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. ⁶ But when thou prayest, entre into thy chamber, & shut thy dore to the, & praie to thi father which is in secrete: & thy father which seeth in secrete, shall rewarde the openlye.

³³ No man lyghteth a candell, & putteth in a pryuy place, neyther vnder a bushell: but on a candelsticke, that they that come in, maye se the lyght.

¹ Then came he to Derba and to Lystra. And beholde a certayne disciple was there named Timotheus, a womans sonne whiche was a Ieweas and beleued: but hys father was a Greke. ² Of whom reported well, the brethren of Lystra and Iconium. ³ The same Paule woulde that he shoulde go forthe with hym, and toke and circumcysed him, because of the Iewes whiche were in those quarters: for they knewe all, that hys father was a Greke.

²² But the frute of the spiryte, is loue, ioye peace, longe sufferynge, gentylnes, goodnes, faithfulnes, ²³ mekenes, temperauncye. Against suche there is no lawe.

¹¹ fylled with the fruites of rightuousnes, which fruites come by Iesus Christ vnto the glory and laude of God.
