¹⁹ Agayne, thynke ye that we excuse oure selues. We speake in Christe in the syght of God. But we do all thynges dearelye beloued for youre edifiynge.

¹ I say the trueth in Christe and lye not, in that where of my conscience beareth me wytnes in the holy goste,

¹⁹ Derely beloued auenge not youre selues, but geue roume vnto the wrathe of God. For it is wrytten: vengeaunce is myne, and I wyll rewarde sayeth the Lorde.

¹² Yf other be partakers of this power ouer you: wherfore are not we rather? Neuerthelesse we haue not vsed thys power but suffer all thinges leste we shoulde hinder the Gospell of Christe ¹³ Do ye not vnderstande howe that they whiche minister in the temple, haue their fyndynge of the temple? And they whych wayte at the aulter, are partakers of the aulter? ¹⁴ Euen so also dyd the Lord ordaine, that they which preach the Gospel, shoulde lyue of the Gospell. ¹⁵ But I haue vsed none of these thinges. Neither wrote I these thinges, that it should be so done vnto me. For it were better for me to dye, then that anye shoulde take this reioysinge from me. ¹⁶ In that I preache the Gospel, I haue nothinge to reioyce of. For necessytye is put vnto me. Wo is it vnto me yf I preach not the Gospel. ¹⁷ Yf I do it wyth a good wil, I haue a rewarde. But yf I do it against my wyl, an offyce is committed vnto me. ¹⁸ What is my reward then? Verelye, that when I preache the Gospell, I make the Gospell of Christ fre, that I misuse not myne authoryte in the Gospell. ¹⁹ For though I be fre from all men, yet haue I made my selfe seruaunte vnto all men, that I myght winne the mo. ²⁰ Vnto the Iewes, I became as a Iewe, to winne the Iewes. To them that were vnder the lawe, was I made as though I had ben vnder the lawe, to winne them that were vnder the lawe. ²¹ To them that were without lawe, became I as though I had ben without the lawe (when I was not without lawe as perteyninge to God, but vnder a lawe as concerninge Christe) to wynne them that were without lawe. ²² To the weake became I as weake, to wynne the weake. In all thinge I fashioned my selfe to all men, to saue at the lest waye some. ²³ And thys I do for the Gospel sake, that I might haue my parte thereof.

¹⁴ Wherfore my deare beloued, fle from worshipping of Idols.

³³ euen as I please al men in al thinges, not sekinge myne owne profite, but the profit of manye, that they myghte be saued.

²⁶ Howe is it then brethren? When ye come together, euerye man hath his songe, hath his doctryne, hath his tounge, hath hys reuelation, hath hys interpretation. Let al thynges be done vnto edifiynge.

¹ We begynne to prayse oure selues agayne. Nede we as some other, of Epistles, of recommendacion vnto you? or letters of recommendacyon from you?

¹² We prayse not oure selues agayne vnto you, but geue you an occasyon to reioyce of vs that ye maye haue somewhat agaynst them whiche reioyce in the face, and not in the hert, ¹³ For yf we be to feruente, to God we are to feruente. Yf we kepe measure, for youre cause kepe we measure.

¹ Seynge that we haue such promyses dearely beloued, let vs cleanse oure selues from al fylthynesse of the fleshe & spyrite, and grow vp to full holynesse in the feare of God.

⁸ and thoughe I shoulde boste my selfe some what more of oure authoritie which the Lord hath geuen vs to edifye, and not to destroye you, it shoulde not be to my shame.

¹⁰ Yf the trueth of Christe be in me, thys reioysynge shall not be taken from me in the regyons of Achaia.

³¹ The God and father of oure Lorde Iesus Christ, whiche is blessed for euermore, knoweth that I lye not

¹⁵ I wyll very gladly bestowe, and wyll be bestowed for youre soules: thoughe the more I loue you, the lesse I am loued agayne.

¹⁰ Therfore wryte I these thinges beynge absente, leste when I am presente I shoulde vse sharpenesse accordynge to the power whiche the Lorde hath geuen me, to edifye, and not to destroye.

¹ Therfore my brethren dearlye beloued & lounged for my ioye & crowne, so continue in the Lord, ye beloued.
