³⁵ in comparison of whom al they that dwel vpon the earth, are to be reputed as nothinge. He handleth accordinge to hys wyl, among the powers of heauen & amonge the inhabytours of the earthe: and there is none that maye resyste hys hande, or say: what doest thou?

¹⁸ And Samuell tolde him euery whit, & hyd it not from him. And he answered: it is the Lord, let him do what semeth him best.

⁴ He is wyse of hert, and myghtie in strength. Who euer prospered, that toke parte against hym?

¹² If he be hasty to take enye thynge awaye, who will make hym restore it agayne? Who wyll saye vnto hym: what doest thou? ¹³ He is God, whose wrath no man maye withstande: but the proudest of all muste stoupe vnder hym.

¹³ It is he him selfe alone, who wyll turne hym back? He doth as him listeth, and bryngeth to passe what he will.

¹² Beholde, vnto these vnreasonable wordes of thyne wil I make aunswere. Shulde God be reproued of man? ¹³ Why doest thou then stryue agaynst hym, because he geueth the no accomptes of all hys doynges?

¹⁴ To whome hath he geuen hys herte, for to drawe hys spryte and breth vnto hym? ¹⁵ All flesh shall come together vnto naught, & all men shall turne agayne vnto earthe.

¹⁹ Vngodly men are ye. He hath none respecte vnto the personnes of the lordlye, and regardeth not the ryche more then pore. For they be al the worcke of hys handes. ²⁰ In the twynckelynge of an eye shal they be slayne: and at midnight, when the people and the tyrauntes rage, then shall they peryshe, and be taken awaye withoute handes. ²¹ And why? hys eyes loke vpon the wayes of man, and he seith all hys goynges. ²² There is no darcknes nor thicke shadow, that can hyde the wycked doers from hym. ²³ For no man shalbe suffered to go into iudgemente wyth God. ²⁴ Manye one, yea innumerable doth he punyshe, and setteth other in theyr steades.

²⁹ If he delyuer and graunte pardon, who wil iudge or condemne? But yf he hyde away hys countenaunce, who wyll turne it aboute agayne, whether it be to the people or to anye man?

² Can he that stryueth with the almightye, be at reste? Shulde not he whiche disputeth with God, geue hym an aunswere?

⁹ Is thyne arme then lyke the arme of God? Maketh thy voyce such a sound as hys doeth? ¹⁰ Then arme thy selfe with thyne owne power, vp, decke the in thy ioly araye, ¹¹ poure oute the indignacyon of thy wrath: se that thou caste doune all the proude, ¹² loke well, that thou makest all suche as be stubborne, to obeye: treade all the vngodlye vnder thy fete,

⁸ Let all the earth feare the Lorde, and lette all them that dwell in the worlde, stande in awe of hym. ⁹ For loke what he sayeth, it is done: and loke what he commaundeth, it standeth fast. ¹⁰ The Lorde bryngeth the counsayl of the Heythen to naught, and turneth the deuyces of the people. ¹¹ But the counsayll of the Lorde endureth, and the thoughtes of his herte from generacion to generacion.

¹⁴ from hys stronge seate he considreth all them that dwell in the worlde.

³ As for oure God, he is in heauen, he doeth whatsoeuer it pleaseth him.

⁶ Whatsoeuer the Lord pleaseth that doth he in heauen and in earth, in the sea, and in all deape places.

³⁰ There is no wysdome ther is no vnderstandyng, there is no councell agaynste the Lorde.

²⁴ The Lorde of Hostes hathe sworne an othe, sayinge: It shal come to passe as I haue determyned: and shalbe fulfylled as I haue deuysed. ²⁵ The Assyryans shalbe destroyed in my lande, and vpon my mountaynes wyll I treade them vnder fote. Where thorow hys yock shall come from you, & hys burthen shalbe taken from youre shoulders. ²⁶ This deuyce hath God taken thorowe the whole worlde, and thus is hys hand stretched out ouer al people. ²⁷ For yf the Lorde of Hostes determen a thynge, who wyl dysanulle it? And yf he stretch forth hys hande, who wil holde it in agayne?

⁹ My soule lusteth after the all the nyght longe, and my mynde hasteth frely to the. For as soone as thy iudgemente is knowne to the worlde, then the inhabytours of the earth learne rightuousnesse.

¹⁵ Beholde, all people are in comparyson of hym, as a droppe to a boket full, and are counted as the leste thinge that the balaunce weyeth. Beholde, the Iles are in comparyson of hym, as the shadowe of the sonne beame. ¹⁶ Libanus is not suffycyent to mynystre fyre for his offringe, and all the beastes therof are not ynough to one sacryfyce. ¹⁷ All people in comparyson of hym are rekened as nothing, yee vayne vanyte and emptynesse.

²² That he sytteth vpon the circle of the worlde, and that al the inhabytours of the worlde are in comparison of him, but as greshoppers: That he spredeth out the heauens as a coueryng, that he stretcheth them out, as a tent to dwell in: ²³ That he bryngeth Prynces to nothyng, and the iudges of the earth to dust: ²⁴ so that they be not planted nor sowen agayne, nether theyr stocke roted agayne in the earth? For as sone as he bloweth vpon them, they wither & fade awaye, lyke the strawe in a whyrle wynde.

¹³ And euen he am I from the begynnynge, & there is none that can take any thynge out of my hande. And what I do, can no man chaunge.

⁹ Wo be vnto hym that chydeth wyth hys maker, the potsherde with the potter: Sayeth the claye to the potter: What makest thou? or thy worcke serueth for nothynge? ¹⁰ Wo be vnto hym, that sayeth to his father: Why begettest thou? And to hys mother: why bearest thou? ¹¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde, euen the holy one & maker of Israel: Aske me of thynges for to come, concernynge my sonnes: and put me in remembraunce, as touchyng the worckes of my handes:

¹⁰ In the beginning of a thynge, I shewe the ende therof: & I tell before, thynges that are not yet come to passe. With one worde is my deuyce accomplyshed, & fulfylleth all my pleasure. ¹¹ I call a byrde out of the East, & all that I take in hande, out of farre countrees, as soone as I commaunde, I brynge it hether: as soone as I thyncke to deuyse a thynge, I do it.

²⁵ At that time Iesus aunswered and said: I prayse the, O father Lorde of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these thinges from the wyse and prudent, and hast opened theim vnto babes: ²⁶ euen so father, for so it pleased the.

²⁸ for to do whatsoeuer thy hande and thy councell determined before to be done.

³⁹ But and if it be of God ye can not destroye it, leaste haply ye be found to striue against god.

⁵ And he saide: what art thou Lorde? And the Lorde saide: I am Iesus whom thou persecutest it shalbe hearde for the to kycke agaynste the prycke.

¹⁷ For as much then as God gaue them lyke giftes, as he dyd vnto vs, when we beleued on the Lord Iesus Christe: what was I that I shoulde haue withstand God?

¹⁹ Thou wylt saye then vnto me: why then blameth he vs yet? For who can resist hys wyll? ²⁰ But O man, what arte thou whiche disputeste wyth God? Shall the worke saye to the workeman, why haste thou made me on thys fashion?

³³ O the deapnes of the abundaunte wysedome and knoweledge of God: howe vnsearcheable are his iudgementes, and hys wayes paste fyndynge out? ³⁴ For who hath knoweth the mynde of the Lord? Or who was his counseller? ³⁵ Other who hath geuen vnto hym fyrst that he myghte be recompensed agayne? ³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

¹⁶ For who knoweth the minde of the Lorde? other who shall informe him? But we vnderstand the minde of Christ.

²² Either shall we prouoke the Lorde? Or are we stronger then he? All thinges are laufull vnto me, but all thinges are not expedient.

¹¹ that is to saye in hym in whome we are made heyres, and were thereto predestinate accordynge to the purpose of hym which worketh all thynges after the purpose of hys owne wyll,

¹⁰ that in the name of Iesus should euerye knee bowe, both of thinges in heauen and thinges in earth, and thinges vnder the earth, ¹¹ and that al tounges should confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lorde vnto the prayse of God the father.
