¹⁴ Thou shalt not defraude an hyred seruaunte that is nedye and poore whether he be of thy brethren or a straunger that is in thy land

³⁵ If thy brother be waxed pore and fallen in decay with the, receiue him as a straunger or a soiourner, & let him lyue by th ³⁶ And thou shalt take none vsurye of hym, nor yet vantage. But shalt feare thy God, that thy brother maye lyue wt the. ³⁷ Thou shalt not lend him thy money vpon vserye, nor lende hym of thy foode to haue aduantage bi it: ³⁸ for I am the Lorde youre God whyche broughte you out of the Lande of Egypte, to gyue you the land of Canaan & to be your God. ³⁹ If thy brother that dwelleth by the waxe poore and sell hym selfe vnto the, thou shalt not let him labour as a bond seruante doeth: ⁴⁰ but as an hyred seruaunte and as a soiourner he shal be with the, and shal serue the vnto the yere of iubelye, ⁴¹ & then shall he departe from the: both he and his chyldren wyth him, and shall returne vnto hys owne kynred againe, & vnto the possessions of his fathers: ⁴² for they are my seruauntes which I brought out of the Land of Egypt, and shall not be solde as bondemen. ⁴³ Se therefore that thou raygne not ouer hym cruelly, but feare thy God.

¹² If thy brother an Hebrue sel him self to the or an Hebruesse, he shal serue the syxe yere & the seuenth yere thou shalt let him go fre from the. ¹³ And when thou sendest hym out fre from the, thou shalt not let him go away emptye: ¹⁴ but shalt giue him of thy shepe & of thi corne and of thy wine, and giue him of that wherwith the Lord thy God hath blessed the. ¹⁵ And remembre that thou waste a seruaunt in the lande of Egypte, and the Lord thy God delyuered the thence: wherfore I commaunde the thys thyng to daye. ¹⁶ But and if he saye vnto the, I wyl not go awaye from the, bicause he loueth the & thyne house & is well at ease with the. ¹⁷ Then take a naule and nayle hys eare to the dore therewith & let hym be thy seruaunte for euer and vnto thy my mayde seruaunte thou shalte do likewise. ¹⁸ And let him not greue thine eyes to let him go out from the, for he hath bene worth a double hired seruaunte to the in his seruice .vi. yeres. And the Lord thy God shall blesse the in al that thou doest.

¹⁰ In so muche that they let them go naked withoute clothinge, and yet the hungry beare the sheues. ¹¹ The poore are fayne to laboure in their oyle mylles, yea and to treade in their wyne presses, & yet to suffre thyrst.

¹³ Dyd I euer thinke scorne to do right vnto my seruauntes and maydens, when they had any matter against me. ¹⁴ But seynge that God will syt in iudgement what shall I do? And for so muche as he will nedes vpset me, what answere shall I geue hym? ¹⁵ He that fashioned me in my mothers womb, made he not him also? were we not bothe shapen alyke in oure mothers bodyes?

³¹ He that doeth a poore man wrong, blasphemeth hys maker: but who so hathe pytye of the poore, doeth honoure vnto God,

¹⁶ Who so doth a pore man wrong to increase his owne riches, geueth (commenly) vnto the rych, & at the last commeth to pouerte him selfe.

⁷ In the haue they dispysed father & mother, in the haue they oppressed the straunger, in the haue they vexed the widdowe and the fatherlesse.

⁷ They treade vpon poore mens heades, in the duste of the earthe, & croke the wayes of the meke. The sonne and the father go to the harlot, to dyshonoure thy holye name,

¹ O heare thys worde ye fat kyne, that be vpon the hil of Samaria: ye that do poore men wronge, and oppresse the nedy: ye that saye to your Lordes: bring hyther, let vs drincke.

⁴ Heare this, O ye that oppresse the poore, and destroye the nedy in the lande, saying:

⁵ I wil come and punish you, and I my selfe will be a swyf wytnes against the witches, agaynst the aduouterers, agaynste false swearers: yea, and agaynst those, that wrongeouslye kepe backe the hyrelinges dewtye: which vexe the widdowes and the fatherlesse and oppresse the straunger, and feare not me, sayeth the Lord of Hostes.

⁷ And in the same house tary styll, eatynge and drinckynge suche as they haue. For the labourer is worthy of thys rewarde. Go not from house to house,
