²² as the daies wherin the Iewes came to rest from their enemies, & as a moneth wherin their payne was turned to ioye, & their sorow into prosperite: that they should obserue the same as dayes of wealth & gladnes, and one to sende gyftes vnto another, & to distribute vnto the pore.

³ And Moses sayd vnto the people: thyncke on thys day in whych ye came out of Egypt & out of the house of bondage: for wt a mighty hand the Lord brought you out from thence. Se therfore that ye eate no leuended bread. ⁴ This day come ye out of Egypt in the moneth of Abid. ⁵ When the Lord hath brought the into the lande of the Cananytes, Hethites, Amorites Heuytes & Iebusites, whiche he sware vnto thy fathers that he wolde geue the a lande where in mylcke & hony floweth, then se that thou kepe this seruice in thys same moneth. ⁶ Seuen dayes thou shalt eate swete brede: & the .vij. day shal be feastfull vnto the Lorde. ⁷ Therfore thou shalt eate swete bread seuen dayes, & se that there be no leuended bread sene nor yet leuen among you in al your quarters. ⁸ And thou shalt shewe thy sonne at the tyme saying: this is done, because of that whiche the Lord did vnto me when I came out of Egypt.

¹⁰ Therfore sayde he vnto them: go youre waye, and eate the fat, and dryncke the swete, and sende parte vnto them also that haue not prepared them selues: for this daye is holye vnto our Lorde, be not ye sory therfore: for the ioye of the Lorde is youre strength. ¹¹ And the Leuites stilled al the people, and sayde: holde youre peace for the daye is holye, vexe not ye youre selues. ¹² And all the people wente theyr waye to eate and drincke, and to sende parte vnto other, and to make great myrth, because they had vnderstande the wordes that were declared vnto them.

¹² Then were the kinges scribes called on the thirtenth daye of the fyrst moneth, and there was wrytten (accordyng as Haman commaunded) vnto the kinges princes and to the captiues euery where in the landes, and to the rulers of euery people in the countreyes on euery syde, accordynge to the wryttinge of euery nacyon, and after their language in the name of kynge Ahasuerus, and sealed wyth the kynges rynge. ¹³ And the writtinges were sent by postes into all the kinges landes, to rote out, to kyll, and to destroye all Iewes, both younge and olde, chyldren and wemen in one daye (namely vpon the thyrtenth daye of the twelueth moneth, which is the moneth Adar) & to spoyle theyr goodes.

¹⁹ Therfore the Iewes that dwelt in the vyllages and vnwalled tounes ordeyned the fourtenth daye of the monethe Adar, to be a daye of feastinge and gladnes, and one sent gyftes vnto another.

¹¹ And so thou hast turned my heuynesse into ioye: thou haste put of my sacke cloth, & gyrded me with gladnesse.

² Prayse the Lord O my soule & forget not all his benefites.

¹ So that then thou shalt saye: O Lord I thanke the, for thou wast displeased at me, but thou haste refrained thy wrath, & hast mercy vpon me. ² Beholde, God is my health, in whom I trust, & am not afraid. For the Lorde God is my strength and my praise, he also shalbe my refuge.

³ When the lord now shall bringe the to rest, from the trauail, feare, and harde boundage that thou wast laden wyth all,

⁴ Blessed are they that morne, for they shalbe comforted.

⁴¹ Neuerthelesse geue almose of that ye haue, and beholde all is cleane to you.

²⁰ Verely verely I say vnto you: ye shall wepe and lament, & the world shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe, but your sorow shalbe turned into ioye. ²¹ A woman when she trauayleth, hathe sorowe, because her houre is come: but assone as she is deliuered of the child she remembreth no more the anguish, for ioye that a man is borne into the worlde. ²² And ye now are in sorow: but I wyll se you agayne, and youre hertes shall reioyce, and youre ioye shall no man take from you.

⁴⁴ And all that beleued kept them selues together, and had all thinges commen, ⁴⁵ and solde their possessions and goodes, and departed them to all men as euery man had nede. ⁴⁶ And they contynued dayly wyth one accorde in the temple and brake bread in euerye house, and dyd eate their meate together, with gladnes and singlenes of her

¹⁰ warnyng onely, that we should remembre the pore. Whiche thyng also I was dylygently to do.
