²² Thou sonne of man, what maner of byworde is that, whiche ye vse in the lande of Israel, sayinge: Thus, seynge that the dayes are so slacke in commynge, all the visyons are of none effecte:

¹⁹ Whiche vse to speake on thys maner: let hym make haste nowe, & go forthe with his worcke, that we maye se it. Let the councell of the holye one of Israel come, and draw nye, that we maye knowe it.

¹² They haue denyed the Lord, & sayde: it is not he. Tush, there shall no mysfortune come vpon vs, we shall se nether swerd nor hunger. ¹³ As for the warnynge of the Prophetes, they take it but for wynde, yea there is none of these, which wyll tell them, that suche thynges shall happen vnto them.

³³ If this people, ether eny prophet or preste aske the, and saye: what is the burthen of the Lorde? Thou shalt saye vnto them: What burthen? Therfore wyll I cast you fro me (sayeth the Lord) because ye youre selues are a burthen. ³⁴ And the prophet, preste or people that vseth this terme (the burthen of the Lord) hym wyll I viset, and hys house also. ³⁵ But thus shall ye saye, euery one to another: What answere hath the Lorde geuen? or, what is the Lordes commaundement? ³⁶ And as for the burthen of the Lorde, ye shall speake nomore of it: for euerye mans owne worde is his burthen, because ye haue altered the wordes of the lyuynge God the Lorde of Hostes oure God. ³⁷ Thus shall euerye man saye to the Prophetes: what answere hath the Lorde geuen the? Or, what sayeth the Lord? ³⁸ And not ones to name the burthen of the Lorde. Therfore thus sayeth the Lord: For so moch as ye haue vsed thys terme (the burthen of the Lorde) where as I not withstandinge sent vnto you and forbade you to speake of the Lordes burthen. ³⁹ Beholde therfore, I wyll repute you as a burthen, & will cast you out of my presence: yee and the cytie also, that I gaue you and youre fathers: ⁴⁰ & will brynge you to an euerlastynge confusyon, and in to soch a shame, as shall neuer be forgotten.

³ sayinge: tushe, there is no destruccyon at hande, let vs buylde houses: thys Ierusalem is the cauldron, & we be the fleshe.

²⁷ Beholde, thou sonne of man: The house of Israel saye in this maner: Tushe, as for the vysion that he hath sene, it wil be many a day or it come to passe: Is it farre of it, the thyng that he prophecyeth.

⁴⁴ Beholde, al they that vse comen prouerbes, shall vse this prouerbe also against the: suche a mother, suche a doughter.

² what meane by thys comen prouerbe that ye vse in the land of Israel sayinge: The fathers haue eaten soure grapes, and the childrens teth are set on edge? ³ As truly as I lyue, sayeth the Lord God, ye shall vse thys byworde nomore in Israel.

³ Ye are taken out for the euyll daye, euen ye that syt in the stole of wilfulnesse:

³ This fyrst vnderstande, that there shall come in the laste dayes mockers, which wyll walke after their own lustes ⁴ and say. Where is the promes of hys comminge? For sence the fathers dyed, al thinges continue in the same estate, wherin they were at the beginninge.
