⁷ For thus sayeth the Lord God: Beholde, I will bringe hither Nabuchodonozor (which is the Kynge of Babylon, and a kinge of kinges) from the North vpon Tire, with horses charettes, horsmen, and with a greate multytude of people.

²⁹ I wyll set vp an excellente plante for them, so that they shal suffre no more hunger in the lande, neither beare the reprofe of the Heathen any more.

¹ Moreouer, the worde of the lorde came vnto me, sayinge: ² Thou sonne of man, turne thy face towarde the mounte Seir, prophecye vpon it, ³ & say vnto it: Thus sayeth the Lord God Beholde (O thou mount Seir) I wil vpon the, I wyl reache out myne hande ouer the, yea waste and desolate will I make the. ⁴ Thy cytyes wyll I breake doune: and thou shalte lye voyde, that thou mayest knowe, how that I am the Lord. ⁵ For so much as thou beareste an olde enemyte agaynst the chyldren of Israel, and with a cruell hande haste made them afrayed, what tyme as they were troubled and punyshed for theyr synne: ⁶ Therfore as truelye as I lyue, sayeth the Lord GOD, I wyl prepare the vnto bloud, yea bloude shall folowe vpon the: seyng thou layest wayte for bloude, therfore shal bloude persecute the. ⁷ Thus wyll I make the mounte Seir desolate and waste, and brynge to passe, that there shal no man goo thyther, ner com from thence. ⁸ Hys mountaynes wyll I fyll wyth hys slayne men: thy hylles, dales and valleys shall lye full of them, that are slayne with the swearde. ⁹ I wyll make the a perpetuall wyldernesse, so that no man shall dwell in thy cyties: that ye maye knowe, how that I am the Lorde. ¹⁰ And because thou hast sayd: what, both these nacyons and both these landes must be myne, & I wyll haue them in possession, where as the Lorde was there. Therfore, thus sayeth the Lorde God: ¹¹ As trulye as I lyue, I wyll handle the accordynge to thy wrath and gelousy, lyke as thou hast dealt cruellye with them: that I maye be knowen amonge them, how I haue punished the. ¹² Yee and that thou also mayest be sure, that I the Lord haue hearde all thy despytefull wordes, whiche thou hast spoken agaynst the mountaynes of Israel, sayinge: Lo, they are made waste, & geuen vs to deuoure. ¹³ Thus wyth youre mouthes ye haue mayde youre boost agaynst me, yee & multyplyed youre proude wordes agaynst me, which I haue hearde altogether. ¹⁴ Wher vnto thus sayeth the Lorde God: when the whole worlde is in wealth, then wyll I make the waste. ¹⁵ And like as thou (O mount Seyr) wast glad, because the heretage of the house of Israell was destroyed: euen so wyll I do vnto the also that thou & whole Edom shall be destroyed, and knowe, that I am the Lorde.

⁶ Prophecy therfore vpon the lande of Israell, speake vnto the mountaynes and hilles to valleys and dales, thus sayeth the Lorde God: Beholde, this haue I deuysed in my gelousy and terrible wrath: For so moch as ye haue suffred reprofe of the Heathen, ⁷ therfore thus sayeth the Lorde God: I haue sworne, that the Gentyles which lye aboute you, shal beare youre confusyon them selues.

¹⁵ And I wyll not suffre the, for to heare thyne owne confusyon amonge the Gentiles from henceforth. Thou shalt not beare the reprofe of the nacions, ner cast out thyne owne people enymore, sayeth the Lorde God.

² Thou sonne of man, turne thy face towarde Gog in the lande of Magog, whyche is the chiefe prince at Mesech and Tubal: prophecy agaynst hym, ³ & saye: Thus sayeth the Lord God: O Gog thou chief prince Mesech & Tuball: beholde, I will vpon the,

⁶ Gomer and al his hoostes: the house of Thogorma out of the north quarters, and all his hoostes, yea, & muche people with the.

¹³ Then shall Saba, and Dedan, and the marchauntes of Tharsis wyth all their worthies, saye vnto the: Art thou come to robbe? Hast thou gathered thy people together, because thou wylt spoyle? to take syluer and golde: to carye awaye catell and good: and to haue a greate praye?

¹⁵ & shalth come from thy place out of the north partes: thou & moch people with the, whych ryde vpon horses, wherof there is a greate multytude & an innumerable sorte.

¹ Therfore O thou sonne of man, prophecye agaynste Gog, and speake: Thus sayeth the Lorde God: Behold, O Gog: thou chefe prince at Mesech and Tubal, I wyll vpon the, ² and turne the aboute, & carie the forth, and leade the from the north partes, and bringe the vp to the mountaynes of Israell.

⁴ Thou wyth all thyne heape, and all the people that is wyth the, muste, fall vpon the mountaynes of Israell. Then wyll I geue the vnto the foules & wylde beastes of the felde, to be deuoured: ⁵ there must thou lye vpon the felde: for euen I the Lorde haue spoken it, sayeth the Lorde God.

¹⁷ And thou sonne of man: thus sayth the Lorde God: Speake vnto all the foules and euery byrde, yee and to all the wylde beastes of the felde: heape you together and come, gather you rounde aboute vpon my slaughter, that I haue slayne for you: euen a greate slaughter vpon the mountaynes of Israell: eate flesh, and drincke bloude. ¹⁸ Ye shall eate the flesh of the worthies, and drynke the bloude of the prynces of the lande: of the wethers, of the lambes of the goates, and of the oxen that be al slayne at Basan. ¹⁹ Eate the fat youre belyfull, & dryncke bloud, tyll ye be dronken of the slaughter, whyche I haue slayne vnto you. ²⁰ Fyll you at my table, with horses and stronge horsmen: with captaynes and all men of warre, sayeth the Lorde God.

²⁶ All their confusion and offence that they haue done agaynst me, shall be taken awaye: and so safely shall they dwell in their lande, that no man shall make them afrayed.

³ His syght to loke vpon was lyke the fyrst, that I sawe, when I wente in, what tyme as the cytye shulde haue bene destroyed: and lyke the vysyon that I sawe by the water of Cobar. Then fell I vpon my face,

⁷ seynge that ye haue brought in to my Sanctuary straungers, hauynge vncircumcysed hertes and fleshe, where thorow my Sanctuary is defyled, when ye offre me bred, fat, and bloude. Thus with all youre abhomynacyons ye haue broken my couenaunt,

⁹ Therfore thus sayeth the Lord God: Of all the straungers that dwell amonge the chyldren of Israell, no straunger (whose herte & fleshe is not cyrcumcysed) shall come within my Sanctuarye:

¹³ and not to come nye me, to serue me with their presthode, in my Sanctuarye, and moost holyest of all: that they maye beare their owne shame & abhomynacyons, which they haue done.

³⁴ Tis thou sawest, tyll the tyme that (wyth oute any handes) there was hewen of a stone whiche smote the Image vpon the fete, that were both of yron and earth, and brake them to poulder: ³⁵ then was the yron, the earthe, the copper, the syluer and gold broken altogether in peces: and be came lyke the chaffe of corne, that the wynde bloweth awaye from the somer floores, that they can no more be founde. But the stone that smote the Image, became a greate mountayne, whiche fulfilleth the whole earthe:

² I saw in vision (& when I saw it, I was at Susis in the chefe citie, whyche lyeth in the lande of Elam) and in the vision, me thought I was by the ryuer of Vlai.

⁵ Therfore haue I cut doune the Prophetes, and let them be slayne for my wordes sake: so that thy punyshment shall come to lyghte.

¹² but whyle they be goynge here and there, I shall sprede my net ouer them, and draw them doune as the foules of the ayre: & accordinge as they haue bene warned, so will I punyshe them.

² a darcke daye, a gloomynge daye, a cloudye daye, yea & a stormy daye, lyke as the mornynge spredeth oute vpon the hylles: Namely, a great and myghtye people; suche as haue not bene sence the begynnynge, neither shal be after them for euer more.

³¹ The sunne shalbe turned into darcknes, & the mone into bloude: before the greate & notable daye of the Lorde come.

¹⁵ The sunne and mone shalbe darkened, & the starres shal withdrawe theyr light.

¹⁹ but Egipt shalbe layed waste, and Edom shalbe desolate: because they haue dealte so cruelly with the chyldren of Iuda, and shed innocente bloude in theyr lande.

¹¹ Thus sayth the Lorde: For thre and foure wickednesses of Edom I wyl not spare him, because he persecuted hys brother wyth the swearde, destroyed his mothers wombe, bare hatred very longe, and so kepte indignacyon alwaye by hym. ¹² Therfore wyll I sende a fyre into Theman, which shal deuoure the palaces of Bosra.

⁹ At the same tyme (sayeth the Lorde God) I shall cause the Sunne to go downe at none, and the land to be darcke in the cleare daye.

¹ Thys is the vysyon that was shewed vnto Abdy: Thus hath the Lorde God spoken vpon Edom: We haue hearde of the Lord that there is an embassage sent amonge the Heathen: Vp, let vs aryse, and fyght agaynst them. ² Beholde, I wyll make the small amonge the Heathen, so that thou shalt be vtterly despysed. ³ The pryde of thyne herte hath lyft the vp, thou that dwellest in the stronge holdes of stone, & haste made the an hye seate: Thou sayest in thyne hert: who shall cast me downe to the grounde? ⁴ But though thou wentest vp as hye as the Aegle, and maydest thy nest aboue amonge the starres: yet wylde I plucke the downe from thence. ⁵ Yf the theues and robbers came to the by nyght, thou takinge thy reste: shulde they not steale, tyll they had ynough? Yf the grape gatherers came vpon the, wolde they not leaue the some grapes? ⁶ But how shall they rype Esau, and seke out hys treasures? ⁷ Yee the men that were sworne vnto the, shall dryue the out of the borders of thyne owne lande. They that be now at one wyth the, shall dysceyue the, & ouercome the: Euen they that eate thy bread, shall betraye the, or euer thou perceyue it. ⁸ Shall not I at the same tyme destroye the wyse men of Edom, & those that haue vnderstandynge, from the mount of Esau? ⁹ Thy gyauntes (O Theman) shalbe afrayed, for thorow the slaughter they shalbe all ouerthrowne vpon the mount of Esau.

⁸ Wherfore I wyll mourne and make lamentacion, bare & naked wyll I go: I must mourne lyke the dragons, and take sorow as the Estriches:

⁷ Full gracious is the Lorde, and a stronge holde in the tyme of trouble, he knoweth them that put their truste in hym: ⁸ when the floude renneth ouer, and destroyeth the place, and when the darcknesse foloweth styll vpon his enemyes. ⁹ What do ye Imagin then agaynst the Lord on this maner? (Tush, when he hath ones made an ende, there shall come nomore trouble.) ¹⁰ For lyke as the thornes that sticke together, and as the drye strawe, so shall the dronckardes be consumed together, euen when they be full. ¹¹ There come oute of the soche as Imagin meschefe, & geue vngracious councell agaynst the Lorde. ¹² Therfore thus sayeth the Lorde: Let them be as well prepared, yee and as many as they can, yet shall they be hewen downe, & passe awaye. And as for the, I wyll vexe the, but not vtterly destroye the.

¹¹ Where is now the dwellyng of the lyons, & the pasture of the lyons whelpes? where the lyon & the lyonesse went wt the whelpes, & no man frayed them awaye? ¹² But the lyon spoyled ynough for hys yonge ones, & deuoured for his lionesse: he filled his dennes with his pray, & his dwellynge place with that he had rauyshed. ¹³ Beholde, I wyll vpon the, sayeth the lord of hostes, & wyll set fyre vpon thy charettes, that they shall smoke with all, & the swerde shal deuoure the yong lyons. I wyll make an ende of thy spoylyng from out of the earth, and the voyce of thy messaungers shal no more be hearde.

¹ Wo to the bloudthurstye cytye, which is full of lyes & robbery & wyl not leaue of from rauyshyng. ² There a man may heare scourgynge, russhyng, the noyse of the weeles, the cryenge of the horses, & the rollynge of the charettes. ³ There the horsmen get vp with naked swerdes, & glystering speares. There lyeth a multytude slayn, & a great heape of deade bodyes. There is no ende of dead coarses, yea, men fall vpon theyr bodyes: ⁴ And that for the greate and manyfolde whordome, of the fayre and beutyfull harlot, which is a maistresse of witchcrafte, yea, and selleth the people thorowe her whordom, and the nacyons thorowe her witchcraft. ⁵ Beholde, I wyll vpon the (sayeth the Lord of hostes) and will pull thy clothes ouer thy heade: that I maye shew thy nakednes among the Heathen, and thy shame amonge the kingdomes. ⁶ I wyll caste dyrte vpon the, to make the be abhorred, and a gasyng stocke: ⁷ Yea al they that loke vpon the, shall starte backe, and say: Niniue is destroyed. Who wyll haue pyte vpon the: where shall I seke one to conforte the? ⁸ Art thou better then the greate cytie of Alexandria? that lay in the waters, and had the waters rounde about it: whiche was strongly fensed and walled with the sea? ⁹ Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength and that excedynge greate aboue measure. Aphrica and Lybia were her helpers, ¹⁰ yet was she dryuen away, and brought into captiuite: her yonge chyldren were smiten doune at the heade of euerye strete, the lottes were cast for the most auncient men in her, and al her mightye men were bounde in chaynes. ¹¹ Euen so shalt thou also be droncken, and hyde thy self, and seke some helpe agaynst thyne enemy. ¹² Al thy strong cities shalbe lyke figgetrees with ripe figges: which when a man shaketh, they shal fall into the mouthe of the eater. ¹³ Behold, thy people within the are but wemen: the portes of thy laude shalbe opened vnto thyne enemyes, and the fyre shall deuoure thy barres. ¹⁴ Drawe water nowe agaynst thou be beseged, make vp thy strong holdes, go into the claye, tempre the morter, make stronge bricke, ¹⁵ yet the fyre shall consume the, the swerde shall destroye the, yea, as the locuste doeth, so shal it eate the vp. It shal fal heuely vpon the as the locustes, yea, right heuely shal it fal vpon the, euen as the greshoppers. ¹⁶ Thy marchauntes haue ben nombred with the starres of heauen: but nowe shal they sprede abroad as the locustes, and fle theyr waye. ¹⁷ Thy Lordes are as the greshoppers, & thy captaynes as the multytude of greshoppers: which when they be colde, remayne in the hedges: but when the Sunne is vp, they fle awaye, and no man can tel where they are become: ¹⁸ Thy shepherdes are a slepe (O kynge of Assur) thy worthyes are layed doune: thy people is scatred abroad vpon the mountaynes, and no man gathereth them together agayne. ¹⁹ Thy wounde can not be hyd, thy plage is so sore. All they that heare this of the, shal clappe theyr handes ouer the. For what is he to whom thou hast not alway ben doyng hurte.

⁶ For lo, I wyll rase vp the Caldees, that bitter and swifte people: whiche shall go as wyde as the land is, to take possessyon of dwellyng places, that be not theyr owne. ⁷ A grymme and boysteours people is it, these shall sit in iudgement, and punish.

¹⁴ Thou makest men as the fysh in the sea, and lyke as the crepynge beastes that haue no gyde. ¹⁵ They take vp all with theyr angle, they catche it in theyr net, and gather it in theyr yarne: whereof they reioyce, and are glad, ¹⁶ Therfore offre they vnto theyr net, and do sacryfyce vnto theyr yarne: because that thorowe it theyr porcyon is become so fat, & theyr meate so plenteous. ¹⁷ Wherfore they cast oute theyr net agayne, and neuer cease to slaye the people.

¹⁶ Therfore wyth shame shalte thou be fylled, in steade of honoure. Drincke thou also tyll thou slombre wyth al: for the cuppe of the Lordes ryght hande shall compasse the about and shamefull spewyng in steade of thy worshippe.

⁶ Therfore wyll I rote out thys people, and destroye theyr towres: yea, and make theyr stretes so voyd, that no man shal go therin. Theyr cytyes shalbe broken doune, so that no bodye shall be lefte, nor dwell there anye more. ⁷ I sayde vnto them: O feare me, and be contente to be refourmed. That theyr dwellynge shulde not be destroyed, and that there shulde happen vnto them none of these thynges, wherewyth I shall vyset them. But neuertheles they stande vp earlye, to folowe the fylthynes of theyr owne ymagynacions. ⁸ Therfore ye shall wayte vpon me (sayeth the Lord) vntil the tyme that I stand vp: for I am determed, to gather the people & to bring the kingedoms together, that I may poure oute myne anger, yea, al my wrothfull displeasure vpon them. For all the worlde shalbe consumed wyth the fyre of my gelousy.

² Howle ye fyrre trees, for the Cedre is fallen, yea, all the proude are wasted awaye. Howle (O ye oke trees of Baasan) for the mightye strong wood is cut doun

³ & hated Esau: yea I haue made his hilles waste, & his heretage a wildernesse for dragons: ⁴ & though Edom sayd: wel, we are destroyed, we wyll go buylde vp agayne the places that be wasted: yet (sayeth the Lord of hostes) what they buylded, that brake I domie, so that is was called a cursed lande, and a people, whom the Lorde hath euer bene angrye withall.

²⁹ Immediatly after the trybulations of those dayes, shall the sonne be darkened: and the mone shall not gyue hyr lyght, and the starre shal fall from heauen, & the powers of heauen shal moue.

²⁴ Moreouer in those dayes, after that trybulacyon, the sonne shall waxe darke, and the moone shal not geue her light,

⁴ I saye vnto you my frendes: Be not afrayde of them that kyll the bodye, and after that haue no more that they can do. ⁵ But I wil shew you whom ye shall feare. Feare hym whiche after he hath kylled, hath power to caste into hell. Yea I saye vnto you, hym feare.

²³ And beynge in hell in tormentes, he lyfte vp hys eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre of, & Lazarus in his bosome, ²⁴ and he cryed & sayed: father Abraham haue mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he maye dyppe the typpe of his fynger in water, and cole my tonge, for I am tormented in this flamme.

⁴¹ And when he was come neare, he behelde the citie, and wept on it,

²⁴ I sayd therfore vnto you, that ye shall dye in your synnes. For except ye beleue that I am he, ye shall dye in youre synnes.

⁵¹ Ye styfe necked, and of vncyrcumcysed hertes and eares, ye haue al wayes resisted the holye ghoste as your fathers dyd, so do ye.

¹⁵ Be merye with them that are merye. Wepe with them that wepe.

¹¹ Seynge then that we know, how the Lorde is to be feared, we fare fayre with men. For we are knowen well ynoughe vnto God. I truste also that we are knowen in your consciences.

⁴ For the weapens of oure warre are not carnal thynges, but thynges myghtye in God to caste doune stronge holdes,

³¹ It is a fearfull thynge to falle into the handes of the lyuynge God.

²² Beholde I wyl caste her into a bed, and them that commit fornicacyon wyth her into greate aduersytie, except they turne from their dedes.

¹⁵ And the kynges of the earth, & the greate men and the ryche men, and the chiefe captaines, and the myghty men, and euerye bonde man, and euery free man, hyd them selues in dennes, and in rockes: ¹⁶ fal on vs, and hyde vs from the presence of hym that sitteth on the seate, and from the wrath of the lambe, ¹⁷ for the great day of his wrath is come: And who can endure it?

¹² And the fourth angel blew, and the thyrde parte of the sunne was smytten and the thyrd part of the mone, and the thirde parte of the starres, so that the thirde part of them was darckened. And the daye was smitten, that the thirde parte of it shoulde not shyne, and lykewise the nyghte.

¹⁸ And the nacyons were angrye, and thy wrath is come, and the tyme of the dead that they shoulde be iudged and that thou shouldeste geue rewarde vnto thy seruauntes the Prophetes and saynctes, and to them that feare thy name small and greate, and shouldeste destroye them, whyche destroye the earth.

⁶ for they shed out the bloud of sainctes, & prophetes, & therfore hast thou geuen them bloud to drinke, for they are worthy.

For at one houre is her iudgemente come. ¹¹ And the marchauntes of the earth, shal wepe and wayle in them selues, for no man wil bye their ware anye more, ¹² the ware of gold, & syluer, & precious stones, neither of pearle, sylke, and raynes, & purple, & skarled, and al thin wode, & all maner vessels of iuory, & al maner vessels of most precious wode, and of brasse, and of Iron, ¹³ & sinamome, and odoures, and oyntmentes, & frankinsence, and wine, and oyle, and fine floure, and wheat, beastes, and shepe, and horsses, & charrettes, and bodyes, and soules of men. ¹⁴ And the apples that thy soule lusted after are departed from the. And al thinges which were deyntye, & had in price are departed from the, & thou shalt finde them no more. ¹⁵ The marchauntes of these thinges, which were wexed riche shal stand a farre of from her, for feare of the punishement of her, weping & waylynge,

¹⁷ And I sawe an angel stand in the sunne & he cryed wyth a loud voyce, saiyng to al the foules that flye by the myndes of heauen come & gather youre selues together vnto the supper of the great God, ¹⁸ that ye may eate the flesh of kinges, & of hye captaynes, & the fleshe of myghty men, and the flesh of horsses, & of them that sit on them, & the flesh of all free men & bonde men, & of small & great.
