¹³ Thornes shall growe in their palaces, nettels and thistles in theyr stronge holdes, that the dragons maye haue their pleasure therin, and that they maye be a courte for Estriches.

¹⁹ For thou hast smitten vs in the place of dragones, and couered vs with the shadow of death.

²¹ but wild beastes shal lye there, & the houses shalbe full of greate Oules. Estriches shall dwel there, and Apes shall daunse there: ²² the lytle Oules shal crye in the palaces, one after another, and Dragons shalbe in the plesaunt parlours. And as for Babilons tyme it is at hande, & her dayes maye not be longe absent.

¹³ My peoples felde shall brynge thornes & thystels for in euerye house is voluptuousnes, and in the cytyes, wylfulnes. ¹⁴ The palaces also shalbe broken, and the greatly occupied cities desolate. The towers and bulworkes shalbe become deunes for euermore, the pleasure of Mules shalbe turned to pasture for shepe:

⁷ The drye grounde shall turne to ryuers, and the thurstye to springes of water. Where as drrgons dwelt afore, there shall growe swete floures and grene russhes.

¹¹ I wyll make Ierusalem also an heape of stones, and a denne of venymous wormes. And I wyll make the cytyes of Iuda so wast, that no man shall dwell therein.

²² Beholde, the noyse is harde at hande, and greate sedycyon out of the north: to make the cytyes of Iuda a wyldernesse, and a dwellynge place for Dragons.

³³ Hazor also shall be a dwellynge for Dragons, and an euerlastynge wyldernesse: so that no bodye shall dwell there, and no man shal haue there hys habytacion.

³⁹ Therfore shall wylde beastes, Apes, and Estriches dwell therin: for there shall neuer man dwell there, neyther shal any man haue his habitacion there for euermore. ⁴⁰ Lyke as God destroyed Sodome and Gomorre, with the cities that laye there aboute, sayeth the Lord: So shall no man dwell there also, nether shall any man haue there hys habitacyon.

³⁷ Babilon shalt become an heape of stones a dwellinge place for dragons, a fearfulnes and wondrynge, because no man dwelleth there.

⁶ Lo, they shall get them awaye for the destruccyon: Egipte shal receyue them, & Noph shall bury them. The netles shal ouergrowe their pleasaunt goodes, and burres shalbe in their tabernacles.

⁹ Therfore as truely as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde of hostes the God of Israel) Moab shalbe as Sodome, & Ammon as Gomorra: euen drye thorne hedges, salt pyttes and a perpetual wyldernes. The resydue of my folcke shall spoyle them the remnaunte of my people shall haue them in possession.

³ & hated Esau: yea I haue made his hilles waste, & his heretage a wildernesse for dragons:

² And he cryed mightely with a strong voyce, saing: Great Babylon is fallen, is fallen: and is become the habitacion of deuilles, and the holde of al foule spyrytes, and a cage of al vncleane and hateful byrdes,

²⁰ Reioice ouer her thou heauen, and ye holy Apostles, & prophetes: for God hath geuen your iudgemente on her. ²¹ And a mighty angel toke vp a stone lyke a greate mylstone, & cast it into the sea, saying: wyth such violence shal that greate citie Babilon be caste, and shalbe found no more. ²² And the voice of harpers, & musicions, and of pipers, & trompeters, shalbe hearde no more in the, and no craftes man, of whatsoeuer crafte he be, shalbe founde any more in the, & the sound of a myl, shalbe hard no more in the, ²³ and the voice of the brydegrome and of the bryde, shalbe hard no more in the, for thy marchauntes were the greate men of the earth. And wt thyne inchauntment were deceiued al nacions, ²⁴ & in her was found the bloud of the prophetes, and of the sainctes and of al that were slayne vpon the earth.
