² He shall growe before the Lorde lyke as a braunche, and as a rote in a drye grounde, he shall haue neither bewtye nor fauoure. When we loke vpon him there shalbe no fayrenesse: we shall haue no lust vnto him

¹ After this there shall come a road forth of the kynrede of Iesse, & a blossome oute of his rote.

¹⁴ Lyke as the multitude shal wondre vpon hym, because his face shalbe so deformed & not as a mans face, & hys bewtye lyke no man:

⁵ Beholde, the tyme commeth, sayeth the Lorde, that I will rayse vp the ryghtuous braunche of Dauid, which shall beare rule, and discusse matters wyth wysdome, & shall sett vp equyte & rightuousnes agayne in the earth.

²² Thus sayeth the Lord God: I wyll also take a braunche from an hye Cedre tree, & will set it, and take the vttermost twygge, that yet is but tendre, and plante it vpon an hye hill: ²³ Namely, vpon the hye hill of Syon wil I plante it: that it may brynge forth twigges, and geue frute, and be a greate Cedre tree: so that all maner of foules maye byde in it, and make their nestes vnder the shadowe of hys braunches. ²⁴ And all the trees of the felde shall knowe that I the Lord haue brought doune the hye tree, and set the low tre vp: that I haue dryed vp the grene tree, and made the drye tree to florysh. Euen I the Lorde that spake it, haue also brought it to passe.

¹² and speake vnto hym: Thus sayth the Lorde of hostes: Behold the man whose name is the braunche: and he that shall sprynge vp after hym, shall buylde vp the temple of the Lorde,

³ Is not this that carpenter Maries sonne, the brother of Iames and Ioses, & of Iuda and Simon? and are not his systers here with vs? And thei were offended by him.

¹² He aunswered and sayde vnto them: Helias verely shal first come and restore all thinges. And also the sonne of man as it is written, shall suffer many thynges, and shalbe set at nought.

⁷ And she brought forth her first begotten sonne, and wrapped him in swadlynge clothes, and layed him in a maunger, because ther was no roume for them within the ynne.

³⁹ And assone as they had perfourmed al thynges accordynge to the lawe of the Lorde they retourned into Galyle to their owne cytye Nazareth. ⁴⁰ And the chylde grewe & waxed stronge in spyryte, and was fylled wyth wisdome, & the grace of God was with him.

⁵¹ And he went with them, and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them: But his mother kepte al these sayinges in her herte. ⁵² And Iesus increased in wisdome and age, and in fauoure with God and man.

⁵⁸ Iesus sayd vnto him: foxes haue holes, and byrddes of the ayre haue nestes, but the sonne of man hathe not wheron to laye hys heade.

¹⁰ He was in the worlde, & the worlde was made by him, & yet the worlde knewe him not. ¹¹ He came amonge his (owne) & his owne receiued him not. ¹² But as manye as receyued him to them he gaue power to be the sonnes of God in that they beleued on his name ¹³ & which were borne not of the bloude nor of the wyl of the flesh, nor yet of the wyll of man: but of God. ¹⁴ And the worde was made flesh & dwelt amonge vs, and we sawe the glorye of it, as the glory of the onlye begotten sonne of the father, which worde was ful of grace & verite.

²⁸ Then rated they him, & sayde: thou arte hys disciple: we be Moyses discyples. ²⁹ We are sure that God spake wyth Moyses, thys felowe we knowe not from whence he is.

⁴⁰ Then cryed they all agayne, sayinge: Not hym, but Barrabas, that Barrabas was a robber.

⁵ Then came Iesus forthe wearynge a croune of thornes and a purple robe. And Pylate sayde vnto them: Beholde the man.

¹⁴ It was the Saboth euen which falleth in the easter feast, and about the sixt houre. And he sayed vnto the Iewes. Beholde your kynge. ¹⁵ They cryed, awaye wyth hym, awaye with hym, crucifye hym. Pylate sayd to them: Shall I crucifye your kynge? The hye Priestes aunswered: we haue no king but Cesar.

³ For what the lawe coulde not do in as much as it was weake because of the fleshe: that performed God, and sente hys sonne in the similitude of synfull fleshe,

⁶ Whiche beinge in the shap of God, and thought it not robbery to be equal wt God. ⁷ Neuerthelesse he made hym selfe of no reputation, & toke on him the shap of a seruaunt, and became lyke vnto men,

¹⁴ other vnto rulars, as vnto them that are sent of hym, for the punyshemente of euyll doars: but for the laude of them that do wel.
