⁴ From this tyme forthe thou shalt neuer be called the forsaken, & thy land shal no more be called the wildernesse. But thou shalt be called Hephribah, & thy lande Beula: for the Lorde loueth the, and thy land shalbe inhabyted.

⁴ For the Lorde hath pleasure in hys people, and helpeth the meke harted.

¹⁴ The palaces also shalbe broken, and the greatly occupied cities desolate. The towers and bulworkes shalbe become deunes for euermore, the pleasure of Mules shalbe turned to pasture for shepe: ¹⁵ vnto the tyme that the spryte be poured vpon vs from aboue. Then shall the wyldernesse be a fruteful felde and the plenteous felde shalbe rekened for a wodde.

¹⁴ Then shal Syon saye: God hath forsaken me, and the Lorde hath forgotten me.

¹ Therfore be glad nowe, thou baren that bearest not. Reioyce, singe, and be mery, thou that arte not with chyld. For the desolate hath mo children, then the maried wife sayeth the Lorde.

⁵ For he that made the, shalbe thy Lorde & husband (whose name is the Lorde of hostes) & thyne auenger shalbe euen the holy one of Israel, the Lorde of the whole worlde. ⁶ For the Lord shal call the, beynge as a desolate sorowful woman and as a younge wyfe that hath broken her wedlocke: sayeth thy God. ⁷ A lytle whyle haue I forsaken the, but with greate mercyfulnes shall I take the vp vnto me.

¹⁵ Because thou hast bene forsaken and hated, so that noman went thorowe the: I wyl make the glorious for euer and euer, and ioyfull thorowe oute all posterities.

¹⁰ And therfore I am ioyful in the Lorde, and my soule reioyseth in my God. For he shall put vpon me the garment of health, & couer me with the mantle of righteousnes. He shal decke me lyke a brydegrom, and as a bryde that hath her apparell vpon her.

⁵ And lyke as a younge man taketh a doughter to mariage, so shall God mary him selfe vnto thy sonnes. And as a brydegrome is glad of his bride, so shall God reioyse ouer the.

¹² For they whome the Lorde delyuereth, shalbe called the holy people: and as for the, thou shalt be named the greatly occupied, and not the forsaken.

¹⁴ O ye shrinkinge children, turne agayne, sayeth the Lorde: and I wilbe maried wyth you. For I will take one oute of the citie, and two oute of one generacyon from amonge you, and bring you out of Sion:

⁴¹ Yea I wyll haue a lust and pleasure to do them good, and faythfully to plante them in this lande, with my whole herte, and with al my soule.

⁹ Then sayd he: cal his name Lo amy. For why? ye are not my people, therfore wyll I not be youres. ¹⁰ And thoughe the nombre of the chyldren of Israel be as the sand of the sea, which can neyther be measured nor tolde: yet in the place where it is sayde vnto them, ye be not my people, euen there shal it be thus reported of them: they be the chyldren of the lyuynge God.

¹⁹ Thus will I marye the vnto myne owne selfe for euermore: yea, euen to my selfe wil I marye the, in righteousnesse, in equyte, in louinge kindnesse and mercye. ²⁰ In fayth also will I mary the vnto my selfe, and thou shalt know the Lorde.

¹⁷ for the Lorde thy GOD is with the, it is he that hath power to saue: he hath a specyall pleasure in the, & a maruelous loue towarde the: yea, he reioyseth ouer the wyth gladnesse.

²⁹ He that hath the bryde is the brydegrome. But the frend of the brydegrom, whiche standeth by and heareth him reioyseth greatlye of the brydegromes voyce. Thys my ioye is fulfilled.

²⁵ As he sayeth in Osee I wyll call them my people which were not my people: and her beloued which was not beloued. ²⁶ And it shall come to passe in the place where it was sayed vnto them, ye are not my people: that there shalbe called the children of the liuinge God. ²⁷ But Esayas cryeth concernynge Israell, thoughe the nomber of the chyldren of Israel be as the sande of the sea, yet shall a remnaunt be saued.

² For I am gelous ouer you with godly gelousye. For I coupled you to one man, to make you a chaste virgyn to Christe.

²⁵ Husbandes loue youre wyues, euen as Christe loued the congregation, and gaue him selfe for it, ²⁶ to sanctifye it, and cleansed it in the fountayne of water thorowe the worde ²⁷ to make it vnto hym selfe a glorious congregation wythout spotte or wrinckle, or anye suche thinge: but that it shoulde be holy and wythout blame.

⁵ Let your conuersacyon be wythoute couetuousnes, and be content wyth that ye haue alreadye. For he verelye sayed: I wyll not fayle the, neyther forsake the:

¹⁰ whiche in tyme past were not vnder mercye, but nowe haue obtayned mercye.

² And I Iohn saw that holye cyty new Ierusalem come doune from God out of heauen prepared as a bryd garnyshed for her husband
