¹⁶ As for the wordes that thou hast spoken vnto vs in the name of the Lorde, we will in no wyse heare them:

² And Pharao answered: what felowe is the Lorde, that I should heare hys voyce for to let Israell go?

²⁵ For he hath stretched out hys hande agaynste God, and armed him selfe agaynst the Almyghtye. ²⁶ He rounneth proudly vpon him, and with a stiff necke fyghteth he agaynst him: ²⁷ where as he couereth his face wyth fatnesse, and maketh his body well lykynge.

¹⁴ They say vnto God: go from vs: we desyre not the knowledge of thy wayes. ¹⁵ What maner of felow is the Almightye, that we shoulde serue him? What profyt should we haue, to submitte oure selues vnto hym?

³ Let vs breake their hondes a sunder, and cast away their yock from vs.

⁸ Corrupte are they, and speake blasphemyes maliciouslye, proude and presumpteous are their wordes. ⁹ They stretche forth their mouthe vnto the heauen, and their tongue goeth thorow the worlde.

⁹ The chaungynge of their countenaunce bewrayeth them, yea they declare theyr owne synnes them selues, as the Sodomites, and hyde them not. Wo be vnto theyr soules, for they shalbe heuely rewarded.

⁶ For I haue loked, & consydered: but there is no man that speaketh a good worde: there is no man that taketh repentaunce for hys synne, that wyll so muche as saye: wherfore haue I done thys? But euerye man (as sone as he is turned backe) runneth forth styl, lyke a wylde horse in a battayle.

¹² Fye for shame, how abhominable thinges do they? and yet they be not ashamed, yea thei knowe of no shame. Wherfore in the tyme of theyr vysytacion they shall fall among the dead bodyes, sayeth the Lorde.

⁸ Neuertheles, they wolde not obeye me nor enclyne theyr eares vnto me, but folowed the wicked ymaginacions of theyr owne hertes. And therfore haue I accused them as transgressours of all the wordes of this couenaunt, that I gaue them to kepe, whiche they (not with vnderstandynge) haue not kepte.

¹⁰ They haue turned them selues to the blasphemyes of theyr forefathers, whiche had no luste to heare my worde. Euen lykewyse haue these also folowed straunge Goddes, and worshypped them. The house of Israell and Iuda haue broken my couenaunt, whiche I made wyth their fathers.

¹⁵ but, it shall be sayde, the Lord lyueth, that brought the chyldren of Israell from the North, and from all landes where I had scatred them. For I wyll brynge them agayne in to the lande, that I gaue vnto their fathers. ¹⁶ Beholde (sayeth the Lorde) I wyll sende out many fyshers to take them, & after that wyll I sende out manye hunters to hunte them out, from all mountaynes and hylles & out of the caues of stones. ¹⁷ For myne eyes beholde all their wayes, and they can not be hyd fro my face, nether can their wycked dedes be kepte close out of my syght.

¹⁸ Then sayde they: come, let vs ymagyn smothynge agaynst this Ieremy. Yee thys dyd euen the prestes, to whom the lawe was commytted: the Senatours, that were the wysest, and the prophetes, whiche wanted not the worde of God. Come (sayde they) lett vs cut out hys tunge, & let vs not regarde his wordes.

⁴ Then sayd the princes vnto the king: Syr, we beseche you, let this man to be put to death: For thus he discoraged the handes of the soudyars that be in this cytie, & the handes of al the people, when he speaketh such wordes vnto them. This man verely laboureth not for peace of the people, but mischefe.

¹⁵ well, be readye here after, when ye heare the noyse of the trompettes blowe wyth the harpes, shawmes, psalteryes, symphonyes and all the other melodyes: that ye fall doune, and worshyppe the Image whiche I haue made. But yf ye worshyppe it not, ye shall be caste immedyatly into an hote burnynge ouen. Let se, what God is there, that maye delyuer you oute of my handes?

¹⁴ But hys citisens hated hym, and sente messengers after hym, saiynge: we will not haue thys man to reygne ouer vs.

²⁷ Moreouer those myne enemyes which woulde not that I should raigne ouer them, brynge hyther, and slea them before me.
