²⁰ Thou breakest my weapens of warre, and yet thorowe the I haue scatered the nacyons & kyngdomes:

⁵ Wo be also vnto Assur, whiche is a staffe of my wrathe, in whose hande is the roade of my punishement.

¹⁵ But doth the axe boost it selfe, agaynste hym, that he heweth therwyth, or doth the sawe make any krackynge, agaynst hym that ruleth it? That were euen lyke, as yf the roade dyd exalte it selfe, against him that beareth it: or as though the staffe shoulde magnyfye it selfe, as who saie: it were no wode.

⁵ As they had not come only out of farre countreyes, but also from the endes of the heauens: Euen the Lorde him selfe with the ministres of his wrath, to destroye the whole lande.

⁵ Douteles the Lorde hathe broken the staffe of the vngodlye, and the scepter of the lordly. ⁶ Whyche when he is wrothe, smyteth the people with durable strokes, and in his wonders he persecuteth them, and tameth them continually.

²⁶ Yee (sayest thou) hast thou not hearde, what haue taken in hande, and brought to passe of olde tyme? That same wyll I do now also: waste, destroye, & bringe stronge cities vnto hearpes of stones.

¹⁵ Beholde, I will make the a treadyng cart & a new flayle, that thou mayest thresshe and grynd the mountaynes, and brynge the hylles to poulder. ¹⁶ Thou shalt fanne them, & the wynde shall carye them awaye, and the whyrlwynde shall scater them. But thou shalt reioyse in the Lorde, and shalt delyte in praysinge the holy one of Israel.

⁹ lo, I wyll sende out, call for all the people, that dwell in the North, sayeth the Lorde, and will prepayre Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon my seruaunt, and will bringe them vpon this lande, & vpon all that dwell therin, and vpon all the people that are aboute them, & will vtterly rote them oute. I wyll make of them a wyldernesse, a mockage and a continuall deserte.

¹¹ and this whole lande shall become a wyldernes, & they shall serue the sayde people & the kynge of Babylon, thre score yeares and ten.

⁵ I am he that made the earthe, the men, & the catell that are vpon the grounde, with my great power and outstretched arme, & haue geuen it vnto whome it pleased me. ⁶ And nowe wyl I delyuer all these landes into the power of Nabuchodonosor the Kynge of Babylon, my seruaunt. The beastes also of the felde shall I geue hym to do hym seruyce. ⁷ And all people shall serue hym, and hys sonne, and hys chyldes chyldren, vntyll the tyme of the same lande become also: yea many people & greate Kynges shall serue hym.

²³ How happeneth it, that the hammer of the whole world is thus broken and brosed in sonder? Howe chaunceth it, that Babylon is become a wyldernes amonge the Heathen on this maner?

¹³ Therfore get the vp, O thou doughter Sion, & throsshe out the corne: For I wyll make thy horne yron, and thy clawes brasse, that thou mayest grynde many people their goodes shalt thou appropriate vnto the Lorde, and their substaunce vnto the ruler of the whole worlde.

¹³ For Iuda haue I bent out as a bowe for me, and Ephraim haue I fylled Thy sonnes (O Sion) will I rase vp againste the Grekes, & make the as a giauntes swearde: ¹⁴ the Lorde God shalbe sene aboue them, and his dartes shal go forth as the lyghteninge. The Lorde God shall blowe the trompet, and shall come forth as a storme oute of the south.

⁷ When the kynge hearde that, he was wrothe and sente forthe hys warryers and destroyed those murtherers and brent vp theyr citie.
