⁴ But in the .ix. yeare of his raygne, In the tenth Moneth, the tenth daye of the Moneth it happened, that Nabuchodonozor the Kynge of Babylon wyth all hys Hoste came before Ierusalem, and beseged it, and made them bulworckes rounde aboute it.

²⁵ I wyl send a swerd vpon you, that shall auenge my testament wyth you. And when ye are fledde vnto your cityes, I wyll sende the pestilence amonge you, ye shal be deliuered into the handes of your enemies.

⁵² And he shall kepe the in, in all thy cities, vntyll the hye & stronge walles be come doune wherin thou trustedest, thorow al the lande. And he shal besyege the in al thy cytyes thorow out all thy land which the Lord thy god hath geuen the. ⁵³ And thou shalt eate the frute of thyne owne body: the flesh of thi sonnes and of thy daughters whych the Lorde thy God hath geuen the, in that straytenesse & seyge wherwith thine enemye shal besyege the, ⁵⁴ so that it shal greue the man that is tender and exceadynge delycate amonge you, to loke on hys brother and vpon his wyfe that lyeth in hys bosome, & on the remnaunte of his chyldren which he hath yet lefte, ⁵⁵ for feare of geuynge vnto any of them of the flesh of his children, which he eateth, because he hath noughte lefte him in that straytenes and seyge wherwyth thyne enemyes shall besyege the in all thy cyties. ⁵⁶ Yea, and the woman that is so tender & delycate among you that she dare not aduenture to sett the sole of her foote vpon the grounde for softnesse and tendernesse, shalbe greued to loke on the husbande that lyeth in her bosome and on her sonne & on her daughter: ⁵⁷ euen because of the after byrthe, that is come out from betwene her legges, & because of her chyldren which she hath borne, because she wolde eate them for nede of all thynges secretly, in the straytenes & seyge wherwyth thyne enemye shal besyege the in thy cyties.

¹ Wherfore in the nynth yeare of hys raygne, the tenthe daye of the tenthe monethe, came Nabuchodonozor Kynge of Babilon wyth all his power to Ierusalem: and pytched agaynst the towne and made engynes agaynst it on euery syde. ² And the cyty continued beseged vnto the .xi. yeare of kynge Zedekiah. ³ And the nynthe daye of the fourthe monethe of that yeare, there was so great hongre in the cytye, that there was no sustinaunce for the people of the lande. ⁴ And therto the cytye was broken vp: wherfore al the men of Armes fled by nyght, by a waye thorowe a Gate, betwene two walles harde on the Kynges garden: the Caldeyes lyenge aboute the cytie. And the kynge went strayght towarde the deserte. ⁵ And the hoste of the Caldeyes folowed after him, and toke hym in the deserte of Iericho, all his armye beynge scatered awaye from him. ⁶ And when they had taken him, they brought him to Nabuchodonozor the kynge of Babilon to Reblah, where they reasoned wyth him. ⁷ And they slue the sonnes of Zedekiah before hys eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and fettered him, and caried him to Babylon. ⁸ And the seuenthe day of the fyfth moneth which was in the nintenth yeare of king Nabuchodonozor kynge of Babylon, came Nabusaradan seruaunte of the kinge of Babilon, and chefe Marshal, vnto Ierusalem: ⁹ and burnte the house of the Lorde and the kynges house, and all the houses of Ierusalem, and al greate houses burnte he wyth fyre, ¹⁰ And al the hoste of the Caldeyes that were with the chefe Marshal, brake doune the walles of Ierusalem rounde aboute. ¹¹ And the rest of the people that were lefte in the cytie, and them that were fled to the kynge of Babilon, & the remnaunt of the comen people, Nabusaradan the chefe Marshal caryed awaye, ¹² and lefte of the poore of the lande to dresse the vynes, and to tyl the grounde. ¹³ And the pyllers of brasse that were in the house of the Lorde and the botomes, and the brasen sea, that was in the house of the Lorde the Caldeyes brake, & caryed the brasse of them to Babylon. ¹⁴ And the lauers, shouelles, dressynge kniues, ladelles, and the mynystrynge vesselles of brasse, they caried awaie. ¹⁵ And the firepannes & basens that were eyther of gould or syluer, ¹⁶ them toke the chefe Marshal away with the two pillers and the sea of brasse, and the bottomes whiche Salomon had made in the house of the Lorde. The brasse of al these vesselles was without weyght. ¹⁷ The heyghte of the one piller was .xviij. cubites, and the heade theron was brasse and thre cubites long wyth a wrethe & pomegranetes round aboute vpon the heade, all of brasse. And of the same fasshyon was the seconde pyller wt a wrethe. ¹⁸ And the chefe Marshall toke Saraiah the chefe preste, and Zophoniah, the hiest preste saue one, & thre kepers of the dore. ¹⁹ And out of the citie he toke a certayne chambrelayne that had the ouersyght of the men of warre, and fiue men that were euer in the kynges presence, whiche were founde in the cytye, and Sopher the captayne of the Hoste that taught the people of the lande to make warre and threskore men of the people of the lande that were founde in the citie also. ²⁰ And Nabusaradan the chefe Marshall toke them and brought them to the Kynge of Babilon to Reblah. ²¹ And the kynge of Babilon smote them and slue them at Reblah in the lande of Hemath. And so Iuda was caried awaye out of their lande. ²² And ouer the people that remayned in the lande of Iuda, whiche Nabuchodonozor Kynge of Babilon lefte, he set Godoliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Saphan. ²³ And when all the capitaynes of the men of warre and the men hearde that the Kynge of Babilon had made Godoliah gouerner: there came to Godoliah to Mazphah: Ismael the soune of Nathaniah and Iohanan the sonne of Kareah and Saraiah the sonne of Thanehumeth the Netophathite and Iezoniah the sonne of Maachati and theyr men. ²⁴ And Godoliah sware to them and to theyr men, and sayde to them: feare not ye the seruauntes of the Caldeyes. But dwelle in the lande and serue the Kynge of Babilon and ye shalbe in good condycion. ²⁵ But it chaunced the seuenth monethe after, that Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah the sonne of Elisama of the Kynges bloude came, and ten men with hym and smote Godoliah that he dyed: and so did he the Iewes & the Caldeys that were with hym at Mazphah. ²⁶ There vpon all the people both smalle and greate and the captaynes of the men of warre arose & went to Egipte: for they were afrayed of the Caldeyes. ²⁷ Notwithstandinge yet the .xxxiiij. yere after Iehoacin Kynge of Iuda was caryed awaye, the .xxvij. daye of the twelueth monethe, dyd Euilmerodah Kynge of Babilon lifte vp the head of Iehoacin Kynge of Iuda out of the presone house,

³ For I will laye sege to the rounde aboute, & kepe the in with towers, and graue vp dykes against the.

²⁴ Who suffred Iacob to be trodden vnder fote, and Israel to be spoyled? Dyd not the Lorde? Now haue we synned agaynst hym, & haue had no delyte to walcke in his wayes nether bene obedyent vnto his lawe. ²⁵ Therfore hath he poured vpon vs hys wrathfull dyspleasure, & stronge batell, whiche maketh vs haue to do on euery syde, yet wyll we not vnderstande: He burneth vs vp, yet syncketh it not in to oure hertes.

³ Theyr tentes shall they pytch rounde aboute her, and euery one shall fede them that are vnder his hand. ⁴ Make battell agaynst her (shall they say) Aryse, let vs go vp, whyle it is yet daye. Alas, the daye goeth awaye, & the nyghte shadowes fal doune: ⁵ Aryse, let vs go vp by nyght, and destroye her stronge holdes, ⁶ for thus hath the Lorde of hostes commaunded. Hewe doune her trees, and set vp bulworkes agaynste Ierusalem. Thys is the cytye that must be punyshed, for in her is all malyciousnes.

²⁴ Behold, there are bullworckes made now against the citie, to take it: and it shabe wonne of the Caldees that besege it, with swerde, wt honger and death, and loke what thou haste spoken, that same shall come vpon them. For lo, all thinges are present vnto the:

¹ Now when the citie of Ierusalem was taken (for in the .ix. year of Zedekiah kinge of Iuda in the tenth Moneth, came Nabuchodonozor the Kinge of Babilon, and all his Hoste, and beseged Ierusalem.

⁷ So all the soudyers brake awaye, & fled out of the cytie by myght thorow the waye of the porte betwene the two walles by the kynges garden. Now the Caldees had compassed the cytie rounde aboute, yet wente these men their waye to warde the wyldernesse.

¹ Thou sonne of man: take a tylle stone, & laye it before the, and descrybe vpon it the cytie of Ierusalem, ² how it is beseged, how bulworckes & stronge dyches are grauen on euery syde of it: descrybe also tentes, and an hooste of men rounde aboute it. ³ Moreouer, take an yron panne, and set it betwixte the and the cyte, insteade of an yron wall. Then set thy face towarde it, besege it, and laye ordynaunce agaynst it, to wynne it. This shalbe a token vnto the house of Israel. ⁴ But thou shalt slepe vpon thy left syde, and laye the sinne of the house of Israell vpon the. Certayne dayes appoynted, thou shalt slepe vpon that syde, and beare their synnes. ⁵ Neuerthelesse, I wyll appoynte the a tyme (to put of their sinnes) and the nombre of the dayes: Thre hundreth and .xc. dayes muste thou beare the wyckednesse of the house of Israell. ⁶ When thou hast fulfylled these dayes lye downe agayne, and slepe vpon thy right syde .xl. dayes, and beare the synnes of the house of Iuda. A daye for a yeare, a daye (I saye) for a yeare, wyll I euer laye vpon the. ⁷ Therfore set now thy face agaynst that beseged Ierusalem, and dyscouer thyne arme, that thou mayest prophecye agaynst it.

²² But the sothsayenge shall poynte to the ryght syde vpon Ierusalem, that he maye set men of warre, to smyte it wyth a greate noyse, to crye out Alarum, to set batelrammes agaynst the gates, to graue vp dyches, and to make bulworckes.

¹ In the .ix. year, in the .x. Moneth the .x. day of the Moneth, came the worde of the Lorde vnto me sayinge: ² O thou sonne of man wryte vp the name of this daye, yea euen the houre of this present day: when the kinge of Babilon set hym selfe agaynste Ierusalem.

¹⁹ Thus sayeth the lord of Hostes: The fast of the fourth moueth, the fast of the fyfth, the fast of the seuenthe, & the faste of the tenth, shalbe ioye and gladnesse, and prosperous hye feastes vnto the house of Iuda: Only loue the treuth and peace.

⁴³ For the dayes shall come vpon the, that thyne enemyes shal cast a banke aboute the, & compasse the round and kepe the on euerye syde,

²⁰ And when ye se Ierusalem beseged with an hoste, then vnderstande that the solacion of the same is nye.
