²⁸ hereof are they fat and welthy, and are runne awaye fro me wyth shameful blasphemyes. They mynistre not the lawe, they make no ende of the fatherlesses cause, they iudge not the poore according to equite.

¹⁵ And Israel waxed fat and kycked. Thou wast fat, thycke and smothe. And he let God goo that made him & despised the rocke that saued him.

⁶ The houses of robbers are in wealth & prosperite, and they that maliciously medle agaynst God, dwell without care: ye God geueth all thinges rychely with hys hande.

²⁷ where as he couereth his face wyth fatnesse, and maketh his body well lykynge. ²⁸ Therfore shall hys dwellynge be in desolate cytyes, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, but are become heapes of stones.

²³ One dyeth now, when he is myghtye & at his best, riche, & in prosperite: ²⁴ euen when his bowels are at the fattest, & his bones ful of mary.

¹² For I delyuered the poore when he cried, and the fatherlesse that wanted helpe. ¹³ He that shoulde haue bene lost, gaue me a good worde, and the wyddowes herte praysed me. ¹⁴ And why? I put vpon me ryghteousnes, whyche couered me as a garment, and equyte was my croune.

⁴ He shall kepe the symple folke by theyr ryght, defende the chyldren of the poore, and punish the wronge doer.

⁶ And this is the cause that they be so puft vp in pryde, and ouerwhelmed with crueltie & vnrighteousnesse. ⁷ Their eyes swell for fatnesse, they do euen what they lyst.

¹² Lo, these are the vngodly, these prospere in the worlde, these haue ryches in possession.

² How long will ye geue wrong iudgement, and accept the personnes of the vngodly? Selah. ³ Defende the poore and fatherlesse, se that suche as be in nede & necessitie haue right. ⁴ Deliuer the outcaste & poore, & saue hym from the hande of the vngodly.

⁷⁰ Their herte is as fat as brawne, but my delyte is in thy law.

²³ Thy prynces are traytours and companyons of theues. They loue gyftes altogether, & folowe rewardes. As for the fatherles, they helpe hym not to hys ryght, nether wyll they let the wydowes causes come before them.

³³ Why boastest thou thy wayes so hylye (to obtayne fauoure there thorowe) when thou hast yet stayned them with blasphemyes?

⁶ yf ye wyl not oppresse the straunger, the fatherles & the wyddowe: yf ye wyll not shede innocent bloud in this place: yf ye wyll not cleue to straunge goddes to youre owne destruccyon:

¹ O Lorde, thou art more rightuous then that I shulde dyspute with the: Neuertheles, lett me talke wyth the in thynges resonable. How happeneth it, that the waye of the vngodlye is so prosperous: and that it goeth so well with them, which (without eny shame) offende and lyue in wyckednesse?

¹⁵ Thinckest thou to raigne, now that thou prouokest me to wrath wyth the Cedre trees? Dyd not thy father eate and drincke, and prospere well, as longe as he dealt wt equite and ryghtuousnesse? ¹⁶ Yee when he helped the oppressed and poore to their ryght then prospered he well. From whence came this, but onlye because he had me before hys eyes, sayth the Lorde. ¹⁷ Neuertheles, as for thyne eyes & thine herte, they loke vpon couetousnesse, to shede innocent bloude, to do wronge and violence. ¹⁸ And therfore, thus sayeth the Lorde agaynst Iehoakim, the sonne of Iosiah kynge of Iuda: They shall not mourne for hym (as they vse to do) alas brother, alas syster: Nether shall they saye vnto hym: Alas syre, alas for that noble prynce. ¹⁹ But as an Asse shall he be buried, corrupte and be cast without the gates of Ierusalem.

⁶ but she hath despysed my iudgmentes more then the Gentiles them selues, and broken my commaundementes more then the nacyons, that lye round aboute her: For they haue cast out myne ordinaunces, & not walcked in my lawes. ⁷ Therfore, thus sayeth the Lord God: For so moch as ye with youre wickednesse farre exceade the Heathen, that dwell rounde aboute you: (For ye haue not walcked in my lawes, nether haue ye kepte myne ordinaunces)

⁴⁷ Yet hast thou not walked after their wayes, nor done after their abhomynacyons: but in all thy wayes thou hast bene more corrupte then they. ⁴⁸ As truly as I lyue, sayeth the lorde God: Sodoma thy sister with her doughters hath not done so euyl, as thou and thy doughters. ⁴⁹ Beholde, the sinnes of thy sister Sodoma were these: Pryde, fulnesse of meate, aboundaunce and Idelnesse: these thynges had she and her doughters. Besydes that, they reached not their hande to the pore and nedy, ⁵⁰ but were proude, and dyd abhomynable thinges before me: therfore I toke them awaye, when I had sene it. ⁵¹ Neyther had Samaria done halfe of thy synnes, yea thou haste exceaded them in wyckednesse. In so muche that in comparyson of all the abhomynacions whyche thou haste done, thou haste made thy systers good wemen. ⁵²

¹ O heare thys worde ye fat kyne, that be vpon the hil of Samaria: ye that do poore men wronge, and oppresse the nedy: ye that saye to your Lordes: bring hyther, let vs drincke.

¹⁰ Do the widdow, the fatherlesse, the straunger, and poore no wronge: and let no man ymagen euil against his brother in his hert.

¹ There goeth a commen, saiynge: that there is fornicacion amonge you, and such fornication as is not ones named amonge the Gentiles: that one should haue his fathers wyfe.

⁴ Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth ⁵ Ye haue lyued in pleasure on the earth, & in wantonnes. Ye haue norished your hertes, as in a day of slaughter
