¹ Come out of Ierusalem, ye strong children of Ben Iamin: blowe vp the trompettes ye Tecuytes, set vp a token vnto Bethcarem, for a plage and a greate myserye pepeth oute from the Northe.

⁶³ But the Iebusites that were the enhabiters of Ierusalem: the chyldren of Iuda could not caste oute. Wherfore the Iebusites dwelle among the children of Iuda vnto this daye.

²¹ And these are the cytyes of the trybes of the chyldren of Beniamin in theyr kynredes: Iericho, Bethhaglah, and the valeye of Kaziz, ²² Betharabah, Zamarim, and Bethel, ²³ Auim, Pharah, and Ophrag, ²⁴ Chepar Ammonai, Ophni, and Gabai, twelue cytyes wt their villages, ²⁵ Gabaon, Ramah, & Beroth, ²⁶ Mazphah, Caphairah, and Mozah: ²⁷ Rekem, Iarephel and Tharelah, ²⁸ Zela, Eleph, and the cytye of the Iebusites, whyche is Ierusalem, Gabaath, and Kariath, fourtene cytyes wyth theyr vyllages. Thys is the enherytaunce of the chyldren of Beniamin in their kynredes.

²¹ And the chyldren of Ben Iamin dyd not caste oute the Iebusites that enhabyted Ierusalem, but the Iebusites dwell wyth the chyldren of Ben Iamin in Ierusalem, vnto thys daye.

² he sent to Thekoa, and fet thence a wyse woman, and sayde vnto her: feyne thy selfe to be a mourner, and put on mournyng apparell. And annoynt not thy selfe wyth oyle. But be as a woman that had long tyme mourned for the death of some bodye.

¹⁴ But the donge port buylded Melchiah the sonne of Rechab, the ruler of the fourthe parte of the vyneyardes: he buylded it, & set on the dores, lockes and barres therof.

¹⁴ Then saide the Lorde vnto me: Oute of the Northe shall come a plage vpon all the dwellers of the lande. ¹⁵ For lo, I wil cal all the officers of the kingdomes of the north (saieth the Lorde.) And they shall come, and euery one shall set the seate in the gates of Ierusalem, and in al their walles round aboute and thorowe al the cytyes of Iuda.

⁵ Preache in Iuda and Ierusalem, crye out and speake: blow the trompettes in the land, crie that euery man may heare, and saye: Gather you together, and we will go into strong cyties. ⁶ Set vp the token in Syon, spede you, and make no taryenge: for I will bringe a greate plage, and a greate destruccyon from the north.

¹⁹ Ah my belye, ah my belye, (shalt thou crye) how is my hert so sore? my herte painteth within me, I can not be styl, for I haue hearde the cryeng of the trompettes and peales of warre. ²⁰ They crye murthur vpon murthur, the whole lande shall perishe. Immediatly my tentes were destroied, and my hanginges, in the twinckelinge of an eye.

²⁹ The whole lande shall fle, for the noyse of the horsmen and bowmen, they shal runne into dennes into woddes, and climme vp the stony rockes. All the cyties shalbe voyde, and noman dwellinge therin.

²² Moreouer thus sayeth the Lorde: Behold, there shall come a people from the North, and a greate people shall aryse from the endes of the earthe,

¹⁷ Put awaye thyne vnclennesse oute of the lande, thou that arte in the stronge cyties. ¹⁸ For thus sayth the Lorde: Beholde, I wyl nowe thruste oute the inhabitours of this land a greate waye of, and trouble them of suche a fashyon, that they shall no more be founde.

²² Beholde, the noyse is harde at hande, and greate sedycyon out of the north: to make the cytyes of Iuda a wyldernesse, and a dwellynge place for Dragons.

⁹ lo, I wyll sende out, call for all the people, that dwell in the North, sayeth the Lorde, and will prepayre Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon my seruaunt, and will bringe them vpon this lande, & vpon all that dwell therin, and vpon all the people that are aboute them, & will vtterly rote them oute. I wyll make of them a wyldernesse, a mockage and a continuall deserte.

⁷ For thus sayeth the Lord God: Beholde, I will bringe hither Nabuchodonozor (which is the Kynge of Babylon, and a kinge of kinges) from the North vpon Tire, with horses charettes, horsmen, and with a greate multytude of people. ⁸ Thy doughters that are in the lande, shall he slaye with the swearde: but agaynst the, he shal make bulworckes & graue vp diches aboute the, & lyft vp his shylde againste the. ⁹ His slynges and batelrammes shall he prepare for thy walles, and with his weapens breake doune thy towres. ¹⁰ The dust of his horses shall couer the: they shalbe so many: thy walles shall shake at the noyse of the horse men, charettes and wheles: when he cometh to thy portes, as men do into an open cyty. ¹¹ With the hostes of his horse fete, shall he treade doune all thy stretes. He shall sleye thy people with the swerde, & breake doune the pylers of thy strengthe. ¹² They shal wast awaye thy riches, and spoile thy marchaundyse. Thy walles shall they breake doune, and destroy thy houses of pleasure. Thy stones, thy timbre and foundacions shal they cast in the water. ¹³ Thus will I bring the melody of thy songes, and the voyce of thy minstrelsy to an ende, so that they shall no more be hearde. ¹⁴ I will make a bare stone of the, yea a dryinge places for nettes, & shalt neuer be builded agayne: For euen I the lord haue spoken it, sayeth the Lorde God: ¹⁵ thus hath the Lord God spoken concerning Tire. The Iles shalbe moued at the noyse of thy fall, & at the crye of the slayne, that shall be murthered in the. ¹⁶ Al kinges of the sea shall come doun from their seates regal, they shal laye awaye their roabes, & put of their costly clothinge. Yea with tremblinge shal they be clothed, they shall syt vpon the ground: they shalbe afrayed at thy soden fall, and be abashed at the. ¹⁷ They shall mourne for the, and saye vnto the: O thou noble city, that hast bene so greatly occupyed of olde, thou that haste bene the strongest vpon the sea with thine inhabitours of whom al men stode in feare: How art thou nowe so vtterlye destroyed? ¹⁸ Nowe at the tyme of thy fal the inhabytoures of the Iles, yea and the Iles them selues, shall stande in feare at thyne ende. ¹⁹ For thus sayeth the Lord God: when I make the a desolate cytye (as other cities be, that no man dwell in) and when I brynge the depe vpon the, that greate waters maye couer the: ²⁰ Then wyl I cast the doune vnto them, that descende into the pytte: vnto a people that hath bene longe deade, and set the in a lande that is beneth, lyke the olde wildernesse, with them whiche go doune to their graues, so that no man shall dwell more in the. And I wyll make the to be no more in honoure in the lande of the lyuynge. ²¹ I wil make an ende of the, and thou shalt be gone. Thoughe thou be sought for, yet shalte thou not be founde for euermore, sayeth the Lorde God.

¹ These are the sermons that were shewed vnto Amos (whiche was one of the shepeherdes at Thecua) vpon Israel, in the tyme of Osiah kynge of Iuda, and in the tyme of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioah kynge of Israel, two yeare before the earthquake.
