²⁸ Then sayde Iesus vnto them: when ye haue lyfte vp an hye the sonne of man, then shall ye knowe, that I am he, and that I do nothynge of my self: but as my father hath taught me, euen so I speake:

²⁸ And Moses sayed hereby ye shall knowe that the Lorde hath sente me, to do all these worckes, & that I haue not done them of mine own mynd: ²⁹ If these men dye the commen death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, then the Lorde hathe not sent me. ³⁰ But and if the Lorde make a newe thyng, and the earth open hyr mouth & swalowe theim, and all that pertayne vnto them, so that they go downe quicke vnto hel: then ye shal vnderstand, that these men haue rayled vpon the Lord.

⁵⁰ Iesus cryed agayne with a loude voyce and yeldeth vp the ghost. ⁵¹ And beholde the vayle of the tempell dyd rent in twayne from the toppe to the bottome and the earth dyd quake, and the rockes did rent, ⁵² and graues did open, and the bodies of manye saynctes which slept arose ⁵³ & came out of the graues after his resurreccion: and came into the holy citie and appered vnto manye. ⁵⁴ When the Centurion and they that were with hym watchinge Iesus, sawe the earth quake and those thinges whiche happened they feared greatly sayinge: Of a surtye this was the sonne of God.

¹¹ Verely, verely, I say vnto the we speake that we know and testify that we haue sene, & ye receiue not our witnes.

¹⁴ And as Moyses lyfte vp the serpent in the wyldernes, euen so muste the sonne of man be lyft vp,

¹⁹ Then aunswered Iesus and sayed vnto them: verely verely, I say vnto you: the sonne can do nothinge of hym selfe, but that he seeth the father do. For whatsoeuer he doth, that doeth the sonne also.

³⁰ I can of myne owne selfe do nothinge at all. As I heare. I iudge: and my iudgement is iust, because I seke not mine owne wyll but the wyll of my father which hath sent me.

³⁸ For I came doune from heauen: not to do myne owne wyll, but his wyll which hath sent me.

²⁴ I sayd therfore vnto you, that ye shall dye in your synnes. For except ye beleue that I am he, ye shall dye in youre synnes.

⁴² I wote that thou hearest me alwayes: but because of the people that stande by, I sayed it, that they may beleue that thou hast sent me.

³² And I, yf I were lyft vp from the earth, will drawe all men vnto me. ³³ This sayde Iesus, signifyenge what death he shoulde dye. ³⁴ The people aunswered hym: We haue hearde oute of the lawe, that Christe bydeth euer: and howe sayest thou then that the sonne of man muste be lyfte vp? who is that sonne of man?

⁴⁹ For I haue not spoken of my selfe: but the father which sent me, he gaue me a commaundement what I shoulde say, & what I should speake. ⁵⁰ And I knowe that thys commaundement is lyfe euerlasting. Whatsoeuer I speake therfore, euen as the father bade me, so I speake.

¹⁰ of ryghteousnesse, because I go to my father, and then ye shall not se me,

¹⁸ Where they crucifyed hym, and two other with hym, on eyther syde one, and Iesus in the myddest.

⁴¹ Then they that gladlye receiued his preachinge, were baptysed, and the same daye there were added vnto them about thre thousande soules.

⁴ Howe be it, manye of them which hearde the wordes, beleued: and the numbre of the men was about fyue thousande.

⁴ and declared to be the sonne of God, wyth power of the holye ghoste that sanctifyeth, sence the tyme that Iesus Christ our Lorde rose againe from death,

¹⁵ Which as they kylled the Lorde Iesus and theyr owne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs, and God they please not, and are contrarye to all men, ¹⁶ and forbid vs to preache vnto the Gentyls, that they might be saued to fulfyll theyr synnes alwaye. For the wrathe of God is come on them, euen to the vtmost.

² For yf the word which was spoken by Angels was stedfast, so that euery transgression and disobedience receyued a iuste recompence to rewarde, ³ howe shal we escape, yf we despise so great saluacyon, whyche at the fyrst began to be preached of the Lorde hym selfe, and afterward was confirmed to vswarde, by them that hearde it,
