¹ And it came to passe a long ceason after that the Lorde had geuen reste vnto Israel from all theyr enemyes rounde aboute, that Iosua waxed olde and was strycken in yeares. ² Wherfore he sent for all Israell, & for theyr elders, theyr heades, theyr Iudges & offycers, and sayde vnto them: I am olde and strycken in yeares. ³ And ye haue sene all that the Lorde youre God hath done vnto al these nacyons before your faces: For the Lord your God he foughte for you. ⁴ Beholde I haue appoynted these nacyons that remayne, to be the enherytaunce of youre trybes: euen from Iordan, and all the nacyons that I haue destroyed, euen vnto the great Sea. ⁵ And the Lorde youre God he shall expell and cast them oute before you, and ye shall conquere theyr landes, as the Lorde your God hath sayde vnto you. ⁶ Be therfore excedynge stronge that ye take hede to do all that is wrytten in the boke of the lawe of Moses, that ye bowe not asyde there from, to the ryght hande or to the lefte: ⁷ and that ye go not vnto these nacyons that remayne wyth you: and that ye neyther make mencion or sweare by the names of theyr goddes: and that ye neyther serue them, nor bow your selues vnto them. ⁸ But that ye sticke fast vnto the Lorde youre God, as ye haue done vnto thys daye. ⁹ So shall the Lorde cast oute before you great nacyons and myghty, as ye se how no man hath stande before you hytherto. ¹⁰ One of you shall chase a thousande: for the Lorde your God he fyghteth for you, as he hath sayde vnto you. ¹¹ Take good hede therfor vnto youre soules, that ye loue the Lord your God. ¹² But and yf ye shall go backe and cleaue vnto the reste of these nacyons that remayne wyth you, and shall make maryages wyth them, and shall go to them, and they come to you: ¹³ be sure that the Lorde youre God wyll not caste out al the nacyons from before you. But they shalbe snares and trappes vnto you, and scourges for youre sydes, & prickes in youre eyes, vntyll ye peryshe from of thys good lande whiche the Lorde your God hath geuen you. ¹⁴ Beholde I walke thys daye, by the waye of all the worlde: call ye to mynde in all your hertes and in all your soules, that nothynge hath fayled of all the good thynges whiche the Lord your God promysed you. All are come to passe, and nothyng hath fayled therof. ¹⁵ And as all good thynges are come vpon you, which the Lorde youre God promysed you: so shall the Lorde brynge vpon you all euyll vntyl he haue destroyed you from of thys good lande which the Lorde your God hath geuen you ¹⁶ when ye haue transgressed the appoyntment of the Lorde youre God, which he commaunded you, and haue gone and serued straunge Goddes, and bowed your selues to them. Then shal the wrath of the Lord waxe whote vpon you, and ye shall peryshe quickly, from of the good lande which he hath geuen you.

⁸ and then fell sycke & dyed in a lusty age (when he had liued inough) & was put vnto his people.

² & sayd vnto them. I am an hundred & .xx. yeare thys day, & can no more go out & in. Also the Lorde hath sayd vnto me, thou shalt not go ouer thys Iordan.

²³ And Iosua toke the whole land accordynge to all that the Lorde sayde vnto Moses, and gaue it a possessyon vnto Israel, euerye man his parte in their trybes, and the lande rested from warre.

¹ When Iosua was waxen olde, & strycken in yeres, the Lorde sayde vnto hym, thou art olde, and stricken in yeres,

⁴⁴ And the Lorde gaue them rest roundabout accordyng to all that he sware vnto their fathers. So that there stode not a man of all theyr enemyes before them. But the Lorde delyuered all their enemyes into theyr handes.

⁴ And now the Lord hath geuen reste vnto youre brethren as he promised them. Wherfore returne and go vnto youre tentes & vnto the lande of youre possessyon, whych Moses the seruaunt of the Lord gaue you on the other syde Iordan.

⁹ He hath made warres to cease in all the worlde: he hathe broken the bowe, he hathe knapped the speare in sonder, and brente the charettes in the fyre.

²⁸ Gather vnto me all the elders of youre trybes, & youre offycers, that I may speake these wordes in theyr eares & call heauen and earth to record against them.

¹ And Iosua gathered all the trybes of Israel to Sichem, & called for the elders of Israel, and for theyr heades Iudges and offycers whiche presented them selues before God.

¹ And Dauid gathered together al the Lordes of Israel: the Lordes of the trybes, the Lordes of the companyes that mynystred to the kyng by course, the Lordes ouer the thousandes and ouer the hundredes, & the Lordes ouer all the goodes and catell of the kynge of his sonnes, with the chambrelaynes warryoures and all actiue men vnto Ierusalem.

¹⁷ Wherfore from Myleton he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the congregacyon. ¹⁸ And when they were come to hym, he sayde vnto them. Ye knowe from the fyrste daye that I came into Asia, after what maner I haue ben with you at al ceasons ¹⁹ seruynge the Lorde with all humblenes of mynde, and with many teares, and temptacyons whiche happened to me by the laiynges awayte of the Iewes, ²⁰ and howe I kept backe nothyng that was profytable, but that I haue shewed you, and taughte you openlye, and at home in your houses, ²¹ wytnessyng both to the Iewes, and also to the Grekes, the repentaunce towarde God and fayth towarde oure Lorde Iesus. ²² And now beholde I go bounde in the spyryte vnto Ierusalem, and knowe not what shal come on me there, ²³ but that the holy ghost wytnesseth in euerye citie, saiynge: that bondes and trouble abyde me. ²⁴ But none of these thinges moue me: neyther is my lyfe dere vnto my selfe: that I myght fulfyl my course with ioye, and the ministracyon whiche I haue receyued of the Lord Iesus, to testifye the gospell of the grace of God. ²⁵ And now beholde, I am sure that henceforth ye al (through whom I haue gone preachyng the kingdom of God) shal se my face no more. ²⁶ Wherfore I take you to recorde this same daye that I am pure from the bloud of all men. ²⁷ For I haue kept nothynge backe, but haue shewed you all the counsell of God. ²⁸ Take hede therfore vnto youre selues, and to all the flocke wherof the holy ghoste hath made you ouersears, to rule the congregacyon of God, which he hath purchased wt hys bloude. ²⁹ For I am sure of this, that after my departing shall greuous wolues enter in amonge you, which wyll not spare the flocke. ³⁰ Moreouer of your own selues shal men aryse speakyng peruerse thinges to draw disciples after them. ³¹ Therfore awake & remember, that by the space of .iij. yeares I ceased not to warne euerye one of you both night and daye with teares. ³² And nowe brethren I commende you to God, and to the worde of hys grace, which is able to buylde further, and to geue you an inheritaunce amonge all them which are sanctifyed ³³ I haue desyred no mans syluer, golde or vesture. ³⁴ Ye knowe well that these handes haue ministred vnto my necessities, & to them that were with me, ³⁵ I haue shewed you all thinges, how that so laborynge ye ought to receyue the weake & to remember the wordes of the lorde Iesu, how that he sayde: it is more blessed to geue then to receyue.

¹⁴ The Lord shal fyghte for you and ye shal holde your peace.

⁹ Take hede to thy selfe therfore only & kepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thynges whych thyne eyes haue sene, & that they departe not oute of thyne herte, all the dayes of thy lyfe: but teach them thy sonnes and thy sonnes sonnes.

⁴ For the lord thy god goeth with you to fight for you agaynst your enemyes & to saue you.

¹⁴ And there was no daye lyke that, before it, or after it, that the Lorde obeyed the voyce of a man, and al because the Lorde fought for Israel.

⁴² And all those kynges and their lande, Iosua toke at one tyme, because the Lorde God of Israell fought for Israel.

¹ To the chaunter an instruccyon of the sonnes of Corah. We haue herde with our eares (O God) our fathers haue told vs, what thou hast don in their tyme of olde ² Howe thou hast dryuen out the Heythen wyth thy hand, and planted them in: how thou hast destroyed the nacions and cast them out. ³ For they gat not the lande in possessyon thorowe their owne swearde, neyther was it their owne arme that helped them. But thy ryght hande, thyne arme and the lyght of thy countenaunce, because thou haddest a fauoure vnto them.

⁵ Youre eyes haue sene it, & ye youre selues must confesse, that the Lord hath brought the land of Israel to great honour.

² and there remayneth yet excedinge much lande to be possessed: This is the land that remayneth, al the coostes of the Philistines, and al the Gesurites,

⁶ al the enhabitoures of the hyll countrey, from Libanon vnto the whote waters euen al the Sydones I will cast them out from before the chyldren of Israel, and se that thou in anye wyse deuyde it by lotte vnto the children of Israel to enheret, as I haue commaunded the. ⁷ Nowe therfore deuyde thys land to enherete, vnto the nyne trybes, and the halfe trybe of Manasses.

¹⁰ And Iosua caste lottes for them in Siloh before the Lorde, and there he deuided the land vnto the chyldren of Israel, to eche their porcion.

³⁰ But a litle & a litle I wil dryue them out before the, vntyll thou be increased that thou mayst enheret the lande. ³¹ And I wil make thy costes from the red sea vnto the sea of the Philistines and from the deserte vnto the ryuer. I wil deliuer the inhabiters of the lande into thyne hande, & thou shalt dryue them out before the.

² And I wyll sende an angell before the, & wyll cast out the Cananytes, the Amorytes, the Hethites, the Pherezites, the Heuites, & the Iebusytes:

¹¹ kepe al that I commaund the thys daye, and beholde: I wyll caste out before the the Amorytes, Canaanites, Hethytes, Pherezites, Heuites, and Iebusites.

⁵² se that ye dryue out all the inhabiters of the lande before you, and destroye their chappelles and all their Images of Metall, and plucke downe all their alters buylte on hylles: ⁵³ And possesse the lande and dwell therin, for I haue geuen you the lande to enioye it.

²³ Then wyl the Lord caste out al these nations, & ye shall conquire them which are both greater & mightier then youre selues.

³² But whatsoeuer I commaunde you that take hede ye do: & put nought thereto nor take therfrom.

²⁰ that his hert arise not aboue his brethren and that he turne not from the commaundement: either to the right hand or to the left, that both he & his children mai prolong their daies in his kingdom in Israel.

¹⁴ And se that thou bowe not from any of these wordes which I commaunde the this daye ether to the ryght hande or to the lefte, that thou woldest goo after straunge goddes to serue them.

⁷ Aboue all thynge be strong and harden thy selfe, to obserue & to do, accordynge to all the lawes which Moses my seruaunt commaunded the. Tourne there from nether to the ryght hand nor to the lefte: that thou mayest haue vnderstandynge in all thou takest in hande ⁸ let not the boke of thys lawe departe out of thy mouthe: But recorde therein daye & night that thou mayest be circumspect to do accordyng to all that is wrytten therein. For then shalt thou make thy waye prosperouse, & then thou shalt haue vnderstandyng. ⁹ Beholde, I haue sayde vnto the, be strong and bolde: neyther feare, nor dreade. For the Lorde thy God is with the whether soeuer thou goest.

²⁶ Pondre the path of thy fete, so shal al thy waies be sure. ²⁷ Turne not a side, neither to the righte hande ner to the lefte, but withholde thy fote from euel.

³ They bende theyr tunges lyke bowes, to shute oute lyes. As for the trueth, they may nothynge awaye with all in the worlde. For they go from one wyckednes to another, & hold nothinge of me, sayeth the Lorde.

¹³ Watche ye, stande faste in the fayth, quyte you lyke men and be stronge,

¹⁰ Finally my brethren, be stronge in the Lord and in the power of his myghte. ¹¹ Put on the armoure of God, that ye maye stande stedfaste agaynste the crafty assautes of the deuyll. ¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges. ¹³ For thys cause take vnto you the armoure of God, that ye maye be able to resiste in the euyl daye, and stande perfect in al thinges. ¹⁴ Stande therfore, and your loynes gyrde about wyth veritie, hauinge on the breste plate of rightuousnes, ¹⁵ and shoed with shoes prepared by the Gospel of peace. ¹⁶ Aboue all take to you the shelde of fayth, wherwith ye maye quench all the fyrie dartes of the wycked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of saluacion and the swerd of the spyrite, which is the word of God. ¹⁸ And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes, ¹⁹ and for me, that vtteraunce maye be geuen vnto me, that I maye open my mouth bloudly, to vtter the secretes of the Gospel,

⁴ For ye haue not yet resysted vnto bloude sheding stryuynge agaynst synne.

⁸ But the fearful and vnbeleuing, & the abhominable, & murtherers, & whoremongers, & sorcerers, & ydolaters, & al lyars shall haue their parte in the lake which burneth wt fyre & brymstone, which is the seconde death.

⁵ Se that thou neither bowe thy self vnto them neither serue them: for I the Lord thy God, am a gelouse God, & viset the synne of the fathers vppon the chyldren vnto the thyrd and fourth generacion of them that hate me:

¹³ And in all thinges that I haue said vnto you be circumspecte. And make no rehersall of the names of straunge goddes, nether let anye man heare them oute of youre mouthes.

³³ Neither shall they dwel in thy lande, lest they make the sinne agaynste me: for if thou serue their goddes it will surely be thy decaye.

³⁸ Nebo, Baal, Meon and turned theyr names, and Sibaina also: and gaue names vnto the cyties whych they buylt.

² and when the Lord thy God hath sett them before the that thou shouldest smyt them se that thou vtterly destroye them and make no couenaunt with theym nor haue compassyon vppon theym. Also thou shalte make no maryages wyth theim, ³ neyther gyue thy daughter vnto hys sone, nor take hys daughter vnto thy sonne.

¹² But and yf ye shall go backe and cleaue vnto the reste of these nacyons that remayne wyth you, and shall make maryages wyth them, and shall go to them, and they come to you:

⁴ But they that runne after another, shall haue greate trouble. Their drinckoffringes of bloude will not I offre, neither make mencion of their name in my mouth.

¹⁴ Come not in the path of the vngodly, and walke not in the waye of the wycked.

⁷ Shulde I then for al thys haue mercy vpon the? Thy chyldren haue forsaken me, & sworne by them that are no Goddes. And albe it they were bounde to me in maryage, yet they fell to aduoutrye, and haunted harlottes houses.

¹⁷ for I will take awaye those names of Baal from her mouthe, yea, she shal neuer remembre their names anye more.

⁵ yea and suche as vpon theyr house toppes worshyppe and bowe them selues vnto the host of heauen: whiche sweare by the Lorde, & by theyr Malchom also:

³³ Be not deceiued: malicious speakinges corrupte good maners.

¹⁴ Sette your selues therfore at large, and beare not a straungers yoke with the vnbeleuers. For what feloweshyppe hath ryghtuousnes with vnryghtuousnes? What companye hath lyght with darkenes? ¹⁵ What concorde hath Christe with Belyall? Eyther what parte hath he that beleueth with an infydele? ¹⁶ Howe agreeth the temple of God with Images. And ye are the temple of that lyuynge God, as sayed God. I wyll dwell amonge them, and walke among them, and wyll be theyr God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherfore come out from among them, and separate youre selues (sayeth the Lorde) and touche none vncleane thynge: so wyll I receyue you,

¹¹ and haue no fellowshyp wyth the vnfruitfull workes of darckenes: but rather rebuke them.

⁴ But ye that claue vnto the Lorde your God are alyue euery one of you this day.

²⁰ Thou shalt feare thy Lord thy God & serue him, and cleaue vnto him, & sweare by his name,

²² For if ye shall kepe al these commaundementes whiche I commaund you, so that ye do them, & loue the Lord your God, and walke in all his waies & cleaue vnto him.

⁴ For ye muste walke after the Lord your God & feare him & kepe hys commaundementes & herken vnto his voyce, & serue him & cleaue vnto him.

⁵ But in any wyse take exceding good heade, that ye do the commaundement & law whych Moses the seruaunt of the Lord charged you: whyche is, that ye loue the Lorde youre God, and walke in hys wayes & kepe his commaundementes, and cleaue vnto him, and seaue hym wyth all youre hertes, and all youre soules.

²³ Which when he was come, and had sene the grace of God, was gladd, and exhorted them all that wyth purpose of hert they woulde continually cleaue vnto the Lorde.

³⁰ But a litle & a litle I wil dryue them out before the, vntyll thou be increased that thou mayst enheret the lande.

²⁴ And he shall deliuer theyr kynges into thyne hande, & thou shalt destroy theyr names from vnder heauen. There shall no man stande before the vntyll thou haue destroyed them.

⁵ There shall not a man be able to wythstande the all the dayes of thy lyfe. For as I was with Moses, so wyll I be wt the and wyl nether leaue the, nor forsake the.

¹⁴ And Caleb droue thence the thre sonnes of Enack, Sesai, Ahman, and Thalmai, the sonnes begotten of Enack.

⁴³ And the Lorde gaue vnto Israell all the lande, whiche he sware to geue vnto their fathers. And they conquered it, and dwelt therin. ⁴⁴ And the Lorde gaue them rest roundabout accordyng to all that he sware vnto their fathers. So that there stode not a man of all theyr enemyes before them. But the Lorde delyuered all their enemyes into theyr handes.

²⁷ I wil sende my feare before the and will kill all the people whether thou shalt go. And I will make all thyne enemies turne their backes vnto the, ²⁸ & I will sende hornettes before the, & they shall driue out of the Heuites, the Cananites & the Hethites before the. ²⁹ I will not cast them out in one yere, lest the lande growe to a wildernesse: & the beastes of the felde multeplye vpon the. ³⁰ But a litle & a litle I wil dryue them out before the, vntyll thou be increased that thou mayst enheret the lande. ³¹ And I wil make thy costes from the red sea vnto the sea of the Philistines and from the deserte vnto the ryuer. ⁸ And fyue of you shal chasse an hundred, & an hundred of you shall put .x. thousand to flyghte, and your enemies shall fall before you vpon the swerde.

²² Feare them not for the Lord your GOD he it is that fyghteth for you.

³⁰ How it cometh that one shal chace a thousande, and two putt ten thousande of theym to flyght, excepte theyr rocke had solde them, and bicause the Lord had deliuered them.

³ And ye haue sene all that the Lorde youre God hath done vnto al these nacyons before your faces: For the Lord your God he foughte for you.

³¹ And after hym came Samgar the sonne of Anath, whiche slewe of the Phylistines syxe hundred men wyth an oxe gode, and delyuered Israel also.

¹⁹ And so Gedeon & the thre hundred men that were wyth hym, came vnto the syde of the host in the begynnynge of the myddell watche, & reysed vp the watche men. And they blewe wt their trompettes & brake the pytchers that were in theyr handes. ²⁰ And all thre companyes blew wt trompettes & brake the pitchers, & held the lampes in theyr left handes, & the trompettes in their right, to blowe wyth all. And they cryed the swerd of the Lord & of Gedeon. ²¹ And they stode stille, euery man in hys place rounde aboute the host. And al the host ranne & cryed & fleed. ²² And as the thre hundreth blew wyth trompettes, the Lorde set euerye mannes swerde vpon hys neyghboure, thorow out all the hoste. And the hoste fleed vntyll they came to Bethsitah, to Zererath, & to the edge of Abelmeholah besyde Tabath.

¹⁵ And he founde a Iaw bone of a rotten Asse, & put forth hys hande & caught it, and slue a thousand men therwyth.

⁶ Then sayd Ionathas to the young man that bare hys harnesse: come & let vs go ouer vnto the standynge of these vncyrcumcysed, paraduenture the Lorde wyl worke with vs: for the Lorde is free to saue with manye or wyth few.

¹² And the men of the garison answered Ionathas & hys harnesbearer & sayde: come vp to vs, & we wyl shew you a thyng. Then sayd Ionathas vnto hys harnesbearer: come vp after me, for the Lord hath delyuered them into the handes of Israel. ¹³ And Ionathas clame vpon handes & fete, & hys harnesbearer after him. Then they fel before Ionathas, & his harnesbearer slue them after him. ¹⁴ And that fyrst slaughter which Ionathas and hys harnesbearer made was vpon a twentye men, within the compasse as it were about an halfe aker of land. ¹⁵ And there was a fear in the host that was in the felde, & among all the people: in so much that they that kept the hold and they that were gone to robbe, were afrayde also, and the earthe trymbled, and there was a feare sente of God. ¹⁶ And the watche men of Saule in Gabaah Beniamin sawe. And beholde, the people skatered and ranne hyther and thyther.

⁸ These be the names of the myghty men that were about Dauid Ioseb of Sebeth the Thachmonite, fyrst of thre, otherwyse called Adino the Azonite, whiche slue .viij. hundred at one tyme.

¹ Of Dauid. Stryue thou with them, O lord, that stryue with me, fight thou against them that fight against me.

⁴ Thou arte the Kynge and my God, thou sendest helpe vnto Iacob. ⁵ Thorow the, wyll we ouerthrow our enemyes: and in thy name wyll we treade them vnder, that ryse vp agaynst vs.

⁷ The Lord of hoostes is with vs, the God of Iacob is oure defence. Selah.

³¹ What shall we then say vnto these thynges? yf God be on oure syde: who can be agaynste vs?

⁶ and yet shew mercy vnto thousandes among them that loue me and kepe my commaundementes.

⁵ and thou shalt loue the lorde thy God wyth al thine hert, with all thy soule & wyth al thy myght. ⁶ And these wordes which I commande the thys daye, shall be in thyne hert ⁷ & thou shalt whett theim on thy children. & shalt talke of theim when thou arte at home in thyne house, and as thou walkeste by the way, and when thou lyest downe and when thou rysest vp: ⁸ and thou shalt bynd them for a sygne vpon thyne hande. And they shall be papers of remembraunce betwene thyne eyes and ⁹ shalt write them vpon the postes of thy house & vpon thy gates. ¹⁰ And when the lord thy God hath brought the into the land which he sware vnto thy fathers Abraham, Isaac & Iacob, to gyue the with great & goodly cityes which thou buildedst not, ¹¹ & houses full of all maner goodes which thou filledest not, and welles dygged whych thou dyggedest not, & vynes & olyue trees which thou plantedest not, & when thou hast eaten and art ful: ¹² Then beware lest thou forget the Lorde whych brought the oute of the lande of Egipt the house of bondage.

²³ Kepe thyne herte wyth all dilygence, for there vpon hangeth lyfe.

³⁴ Take hede to your selues, lest youre hertes be ouercome with surfetinge and dronkenes and cares of this worlde: and that that day come not on you vnwares.

²⁸ For we knowe that all thynges worke for the beste vnto them that loue God, whyche also are called of purpose.

³ But yf anye man loue God, the same is knowen of hym.

²² Yf anye man loue not the Lorde Iesus Christ the same be anathema maranatha.

¹⁵ Take hede therfore that ye walke circumspectlye: not as foles, but as wyse

¹⁵ And loked to, that no man be destitute of the grace of God, and that no rote of bytternes sprynge vp and trouble, and therebye manye be defyled,

²⁰ But ye dearely beloued, edifye your selues in your moste holy faythe, praying in the holye ghost, ²¹ and kepe your selues in the loue of God, lokynge for the mercye of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, vnto eternall lyfe.

²⁴ For this cause shal a man leue father & mother, & cleue vnto hys wyfe, & they shal be one flesh.

³ and his herte lay vnto Dina the daughter of Iacob. And he loued that damsell, & spake kyndly vnto hyr,

¹² Take hede to thy selfe, that thou make no compact wyth the inhabiters of the Lande whether thou goest, least it because of ruine among you. ¹³ But ouerthrowe their aulters and breake theyr pillars, & cut downe their groues, ¹⁴ for thou shalt worshyp no straunge God. For the Lorde is called gelousee bycause he is a gelouse God: ¹⁵ lest if thou make any agremente wyth the inhabiters of the lande, when they go a whorynge after theyr Gods and do sacrifice vnto theyr Goddes, they cal the and thou eate of theyr sacrifyce: ¹⁶ and thou take of theyr daughters vnto thy sonnes, and when theyr daughters goo a whorynge after theyr Goddes,

³ neyther gyue thy daughter vnto hys sone, nor take hys daughter vnto thy sonne.

¹ And when he had made an ende of speaking vnto Saul, the soule of Ionathas was knit wyth the soule of Dauid. In so much that he loued hym as hys owne soule. ² And Saul toke him that daye & would let hym go no more home to hys fathers house. ³ And Ionathas and Dauid bounde them selues the one to the other, for Ionathas loued him as hys owne soule.

² even of nacyons of whiche the Lorde sayde vnto the chyldren of Israell, se ye come not at them, nor let them come to you: for surely they wyll turne youre hertes after theyr Goddes. Neuerthelesse to such Salomon claue and fell in loue with them.

⁴ For when Salomon was olde, hys wyues turned hys herte after other Goddes: so that hys herte was not perfecte wyth the Lorde hys God, as was the herte of Dauid hys father.

¹ When all this was perfourmed, the rulers came to me, & sayde: The people of Israell, and the priestes, & Leuites are not separated from the nacions in the landes as thouchynge theyr abhomynacions, namely of the Cananites, Hethites, Pheresites, Iebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egypcyans, and Amorites. ² For they haue taken the doughters of the same, and their sonnes, and haue myxte the holy seade wyth the nacyons in the landes: and the hande of the prynces and rulers hath bene pryncypall in hys trespace.

¹¹ whiche thou hast commaunded by thy seruauntes the Prophetes, and sayde: The lande vnto whiche ye go to possesse, it is an vncleane land thorow the fylthynes of the people of the landes, in their abhominacyons, wherwyth they haue made it ful of vnclennes on euery syde. ¹² Therfore shall ye not geue your doughters vnto their sounes, and their doughters shal ye not take vnto your sonnes & seke not their peace & welthe for euer, that ye maye be stronge, and enioye the good in the lande, & that ye and youre chyldren may haue the enheritaunce of it for euermore.

²³ And at the same tyme sawe I Iewes, that maryed wyues of Asdod, Ammon & of Moab, ²⁴ and theyr chyldren spake halfe in the speache of Asdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, but by the tonge myghte a man perceyue euerye people. ²⁵ And I reproued them, & cursed them, and smote certaine men of them, and pluckte them vp, and toke an othe of them by God: Ye shall not gene youre doughters vnto theyr sonnes, neyther shal ye take theyr doughters vnto youre sonnes, or for your selues. ²⁶ Dyd not Salomon the king of Israel synne there in? & yet among many Heythen was there no kynge lyke hym, and he was deare vnto hys God, and God made hym kynge ouer al Israel, and yet neuertheles outlandyshe wemen caused hym to synne?

³ The woordes of hys mouth are vnrighteousnes and disceate, he will not be learned to do good.

³⁴ Nether destroied they the Heathen, as the Lorde commaunded them. ³⁵ But were mingled among the Heathen, and lerned their workes.

⁵ As for suche as turne backe vnto their owne wickednesse, the Lorde shall leade them forth with the euell doers: but peace be vpon Israell.

⁴ Alas for thys synfull people, whiche are ouerladen with blasphemyes, a frowarde generacyon, wicked chyldren. They haue forsaken the Lorde, they haue prouoked the holy one of Israell vnto anger, and are gone backwarde.

²⁴ Agayne, yf the righteous turne awaye from his righteousnes, and do iniquytie, according to all the abhomynacyons, that the wycked man doth: shal he lyue? Al the ryghteousnes that he hath done, shal not be thought vpon: but in the faute that he hath offended withall and in the synne that he hath done, he shall dye.

⁶ whiche starte a backe from the Lord, & neyther seke after the Lorde, nor regarde him.

⁴⁵ Then he goeth his way and taketh vnto him seuen other spirites worsse then hym selfe, and so enter they in and dwell there. And the ende of that man is worsse then the beginning. Euen so shall it be with this euill nacion.

⁶⁶ From that tyme manye of his discyples wente backe, and walked no more with him.

⁹ Let loue be without dissimulacyon. Hate that whiche is euyll, and cleaue vnto that which is good.

³⁸ But the iuste shall lyue by fayth. And yf he wythdrawe hym selfe my soule shal haue no pleasure in him. ³⁹ We are not whych wythdrawe our selues vnto dampnacyon, but partayne to faith, to the winnynge of the soule.

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours. ¹⁹ They promis them libertie, and are them selues the bonde seruauntes of corrupcyon. For of whomsoeuer a man is ouer come, vnto the same is he in bondage. ²⁰ For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthines of the worlde thorowe the knowledge yf the Lord and of the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worsse wyth them then the beginninge. ²¹ For it had bene better for them not haue knowen the way of rightuousnes then after they haue knowen it to turne from the commaundementes geuen vnto them. ²² It is happened to them accordinge to the true prouerbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet againe, and the sowe that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

⁹ He that sayeth how that he is in the light, and yet hateth his brother, is in dackenes euen vntill this tyme.

³¹ And I wyl make your cityes desolate, and brynge your sanctuaries vnto nought, and wyll not smel the sauoures of your swete odoures. ³² And I wyl brynge the lande vnto a wyldernesse: so that your enemies whych dwell therin shal wonder at it. ³³ And I wyl strawe you among the Heathen, and wyl draw out a swerde after you, and youre land shal be waste, and your cityes desolate. ³⁴ Then the Lande shall reioyce in hyr Sabbothes, as longe as it lyeth voyde and ye in youre enemyes lande: euen then shal the Lande kepe holy day and reioyce in hir Sabbothes. ³⁵ And as longe as it lyeth voyde it shall rest, for that it could not rest in your Sabothes, when ye dwelt therin.

⁵⁵ But and yf ye wyl not dryue out the inhabiters of the land before you, then those whyche ye let remayne of them, shalbe thornes in youre eyes & dartes in your sydes, & shall vexe you in the land wherin ye dwel.

²⁶ I cal heauen and earth to recorde vnto you thys day, that ye shal shortely perishe from of the lande whither ye go ouer Iordan to possesse it: ye shal not prolong your daies therin but shal shortly be destroyed.

¹⁶ Thou shalt brynge to naught all nacions which the Lord thy God deliuereth the, thine eye shal haue no pyty vpon them neither shalt thou serue theyr Goddes, for that shall be thy decaye.

⁶³ And as the Lord reioysed ouer you to do you good & to multyplye you: euen so he wil reioyse ouer you, to destroy you and to bring you to nought. And ye shalbe wasted from of the lande whether thou goest to enioye it. ⁶⁴ And the Lord shall scater the amonge all nacions from the one ende of the world vnto the other and there thou shalt serue straunge goddes, whyche nether thou nor thy fathers haue knowne: euen wood and stone. ⁶⁵ And amonge these nacyons thou shalt be no small ceason, and yet shalt haue no reste to the sole of thy foote. For the Lorde shall geue the there a tremblynge herte & dasynge eyes & sorowe of mynde. ⁶⁶ And thy lyfe shall hange before the, & thou shalt feare both day and nyght & shalt haue no trust in thy lyfe. ⁶⁷ In the mornyng thou shalt saye, wold God it were nyght. And at nyght thou shalt saye, wolde God it were mornynge: for feare of thyne herte which thou shalt feare, and for the syght of thyne eyes which thou shalt se. ⁶⁸ And the Lord shal brynge the into Egypt agayne with shyppes, by the way whych I bade the that thou shouldest se it no moare. And there ye shalbe solde vnto youre enemies, for bondmen and bondwemen: and yet no man shal bye you.

²⁸ And the Lorde cast them out of their lande in angre, wrath and greate furyousnesse, and cast them in to a straunge land, as it is come to passe this day.

¹⁸ I pronounce vnto you thys daye, that ye shall surely perysh, and that ye shal not prolonge your daies vpon the land whither thou passest ouer Iordan to go and possesse it.

² but ye shulde haue made no couenaunt with the enhabytours of thys lande, ye shuld haue broken doune theyr aultares: But ye haue not obeyed my voyce, why haue ye thys done? ³ wherfore I haue lykewyse determyned that I wyll not cast them out before you: but they shalbe in the sydes of you, and theyr Goddes shalbe snares vnto you.

²² And so the children of Israel walcked in al the synne of Ieroboam which he had set vp, and departed not therefrom, ²³ vntyll the Lorde had put Israel awaye oute of hys sighte, as he sayde by al his seruauntes the prophetes. And so he translated Israel oute of theyr lande to Assyrya, euen vnto this daye.

²¹ And the kynge of Babilon smote them and slue them at Reblah in the lande of Hemath. And so Iuda was caried awaye out of their lande.

²⁶ There vpon all the people both smalle and greate and the captaynes of the men of warre arose & went to Egipte: for they were afrayed of the Caldeyes.

²² Let their table be made a snare to take them selues with all, an occasyon to fall and a reward vnto them.

³⁵ But were mingled among the Heathen, and lerned their workes. ³⁶ In so much that they worshipped their images, which turned to their owne decay. ³⁷ Yea they offred their sons and their daughters vnto deuels. ³⁸ And shed the innocent bloud of their sonnes and of their daughters, whom they offered vnto the ymages of Canaan, so that the land was defiled with bloud. ³⁹ Thus were they stayned with their owne workes, and went a whoring with their owne inuencyons.

²⁴ And they shall fall on the edge of the swearde, and shalbe lead captyue into all nacyons. And Ierusalem shalbe troden vnder fote of the gentyls vntyll the tyme of the gentyls be fulfylled.

²⁶ that they may come to them selues agayne out of the snare of the deuyll, whiche are nowe taken of hym at hys wyll.

⁸ and am come downe to deliuer them out of the handes of the Egyptians, & to bringe them out of that land vnto a good lande & a large, & vnto a land that floweth with milke & hony: euen vnto the place of the Cananites Hethites, Amorites, Pherezites, Heuites, & of the Iebusites.

²⁷ I wil sende my feare before the and will kill all the people whether thou shalt go. And I will make all thyne enemies turne their backes vnto the, ²⁸ & I will sende hornettes before the, & they shall driue out of the Heuites, the Cananites & the Hethites before the. ²⁹ I will not cast them out in one yere, lest the lande growe to a wildernesse: & the beastes of the felde multeplye vpon the. ³⁰ But a litle & a litle I wil dryue them out before the, vntyll thou be increased that thou mayst enheret the lande.

³ If ye shall walke in myne ordinaunces & kepe my commaundementes & do them, ⁴ then I wyll send you reyne in the ryght season & youre lande shall yelde hyr encrease and the trees of the fyeld shal gyue thyr fruite. ⁵ And the threshing shal reach vnto wyne heruest, & the wyne heruest shall reach vnto sowyng tyme, and ye shall eate youre breade in plentuousnes, and shal dwell in your lande peasably. ⁶ And I wyl sende peace in youre lande that ye shall slepe, and no manne shal make you a frayde. And I wyll rydde euyll beastes oute of youre Lande, and there shall no swerde goo thorowe out your lande. ⁷ And ye shal chasse youre enemyes, & they shall fall before you vpon the swerd. ⁸ And fyue of you shal chasse an hundred, & an hundred of you shall put .x. thousand to flyghte, and your enemies shall fall before you vpon the swerde. ⁹ And I wyl turne vnto you and encrease you & multyply you, and set vp my testament wyth you. ¹⁰ And ye shall eate olde store, and cast out the olde for plentuousnes of the newe. ¹¹ I wyll make my dwellynge place amonge you, and my Soule shall not loth you. ¹² And I wyll walke amonge you and wyll be your God, and ye shalbe mi people. ¹³ For I am the Lord your God, whyche broughte you out of the land of the Egiptians, that ye should not be theyr bondemen, and I brake the bowes of your yockes, and made you go vpryght.

¹⁹ The Lorde is not a man, that he can lye, neither the sonne of man that he can repente: should he saye and not do, or shoulde he speake and not make it good?

¹ If thou shalt herken dilygently vnto the voyce of the Lorde thy God, to obserue and to do al hys commaundementes which I commaunde the thys day. The Lord wyl set the vp on hye aboue all nacions of the erth. ² And al these blessinges shal come on the and ouertake the, yf thou shalt herken vnto the voyce of the Lorde thy God. ³ Blessed shalt thou be in the towne and blessed in the feldes, ⁴ blessed shalbe the frute of thy body, the frute of thy grounde and the frute of thy catell, the frute of thyne oxen, and thy flockes of shepe, ⁵ blessed shall thyne aulmery be and thy store. ⁶ Blessed shalt thou be, both when thou goest out, and blessed when thou comest in. ⁷ The Lord shal smyte thyne enemyes that ryse agaynst the before thy face. They shall come out agaynst the one way, & flee before the .vij. wayes. ⁸ The Lord shall commaunde the blessynge to be wyth the in thy store houses & in al that thou settest thyne hande to, and wyll blesse the in the lande whyche the Lorde thy God geueth the. ⁹ The Lord shall make the an holy people vnto him self, as he hath sworne vnto the: yf thou shalt kepe the commandementes of the Lord thy God and walke in his wayes. ¹⁰ And al nacions of the erth shall se that thou arte called after the name of the Lorde, and they shalbe aferde of the. ¹¹ And the Lord shal make the plentuous in goodes, in the frute of thy body, in the frute of thy catell and in the frute of thy grounde, in the land whych the Lord sware vnto thy fathers to geue the. ¹² The Lord shall open vnto the hys good treasure, euen the heauen, to geue rayne vnto thy lande in due ceason and to blesse al the laboures of thyne hande. And thou shalt lende vnto many nacions, but shalt not nede to borowe thy selfe. ¹³ And the Lord shall set the before and not behynde, & thou shalt be aboue only and not beneth: yf that thou herken vnto the commaundementes of the Lorde thy God which I commaunde the this day to kepe and to do them. ¹⁴ And se that thou bowe not from any of these wordes which I commaunde the this daye ether to the ryght hande or to the lefte, that thou woldest goo after straunge goddes to serue them.

⁴³ And the Lorde gaue vnto Israell all the lande, whiche he sware to geue vnto their fathers. And they conquered it, and dwelt therin. ⁴⁴ And the Lorde gaue them rest roundabout accordyng to all that he sware vnto their fathers. So that there stode not a man of all theyr enemyes before them. But the Lorde delyuered all their enemyes into theyr handes. ⁴⁵ There skaped nothynge of all the good thinges, whyche the Lorde had sayde vnto the house of Israell. But all came to passe.

¹⁹ And Samuel grewe, and the Lorde was with hym, and left none of hys wordes vnparformed.

² I must walke by the way of all the world, neuerthelater be thou strong and quyte thy self manfully,

⁵⁶ Blessed be the Lord that hath geuen reste vnto hys people Israel according to all that he promysed, so that there is not one worde escaped of all the good promyses which he promysed by the hand of Moses hys seruaunte.

²³ Sure I am, that thou wilt delyuer me vnto death: where as a lodgynge is prepared for all men lyuinge.

¹⁰ Whatsoeuer thou takest in hande to do, that do wyth all thy power: for among the dead, wher as thou goest vnto, ther is nether worcke, councel, knowledge ner wysdome.

⁵ when men shall feare in hye places, and be afrayed in the stretes: when the Almonde tree shalbe despised, the greshopper borne out, & when great pouerte shall breake in: when man goeth to his longe home, and the mourners go about the stretes.

³³ Heauen and earth shall passe: but my wordes shall not passe.

²⁷ And as it is appoynted vnto men that they shall ones dye, and then commeth the iudgemente,

¹⁴ But and if ye will not herken vnto me, nor wyll do all these my commaundementes, ¹⁵ or if ye shal despise myne ordinaunces either if youre Soule refuse my lawes, so that ye wyl not do al my commaundementes, but shal breake myne appoyntmente: ¹⁶ then I wyll do this agayne vnto you: I wyl viset you with vexacions, swellinge & feuers, that shall make your eyes dasel, & wt sorowes of herte. And ye shall sowe your seede in vayne, for youre enemyes shall eate it. ¹⁷ And I wyll sette my face agaynst you & ye shall fal before youre enemyes, & they that hate you shall raygne ouer you, and ye shall flee when no man foloweth you. ¹⁸ And if ye wyl not yet for all thys herken vnto me, then wil I punyshe you seuen times more for youre synnes, ¹⁹ and wyll breake the pride of your strength. For I wyll make the heauen ouer you as harde as yron, & youre lande as harde as brasse. ²⁰ And so youre labour shall be spent in vayne. For your land shal not gyue hyr encrease, neyther the trees of the land shal gyue their fruites. ²¹ And if ye walke contrarye vnto me and wyll not herken vnto me, I wyll brynge seuen tymes mo plages vpon you accordyng to your synnes. ²² I wyl send in wyld beastes vpon you, whyche shall robbe you of your chyldren & destroy your cattell, & make you so fewe in numbre that your hye wayes shal grow vnto a wyldernes. ²³ And if ye wyll not be learned yet for all thys but shall walke contrary vnto me, ²⁴ then wyll I also walke contrarye vnto you and wyll punyshe you yet seuen times for your synnes. ²⁵ I wyl send a swerd vpon you, that shall auenge my testament wyth you. And when ye are fledde vnto your cityes, I wyll sende the pestilence amonge you, ye shal be deliuered into the handes of your enemies. ²⁶ And when I haue broken the staffe of your bread: that .x. wyues shall bake your breade in one ouen and men shall deliuer you youre bread agayne by wayght, then shall ye eate and not be satisfied. ²⁷ And if ye wyll not yet for all thys herken vnto me, but shal walke contrary vnto me, ²⁸ then I wyll walke contrarye vnto you also wrathfullye and wyll also chastyce you seuen tymes for youre synnes: ²⁹ so that ye shall eate the flesh of your sonnes & the fleshe of youre daughters. ³⁰ And I wyll destroy your alters bylt vpon hye hylles, and ouerthrow youre images and caste youre carkasses vpon the bodyes of your idolles, and my soule shall abhorre you. ³¹ And I wyl make your cityes desolate, and brynge your sanctuaries vnto nought, and wyll not smel the sauoures of your swete odoures. ³² And I wyl brynge the lande vnto a wyldernesse: so that your enemies whych dwell therin shal wonder at it. ³³ And I wyl strawe you among the Heathen, and wyl draw out a swerde after you, and youre land shal be waste, and your cityes desolate. ³⁴ Then the Lande shall reioyce in hyr Sabbothes, as longe as it lyeth voyde and ye in youre enemyes lande: euen then shal the Lande kepe holy day and reioyce in hir Sabbothes. ³⁵ And as longe as it lyeth voyde it shall rest, for that it could not rest in your Sabothes, when ye dwelt therin. ³⁶ And vpon them that are left a liue of you I wyl sende a fayntnes into theyr hertes, in all the land of their enemies: so that the sound of a leaf that falleth, shall chase them & they shall flee as though they fled a swerde, and shall fal, no man folowyng them. ³⁷ And they shal fal, one vpon another, as it were before a swerde, euen no man folowyng them, and ye shal haue no power to stand before your enemies. ³⁸ And ye shall peryshe amonge the Heathen, and the land of your enemies shal eate you vp. ³⁹ And they that are lefte of you, shall pyne away in theyr vnryghtuousnes, euen in their enymyes lande, and also in the misdedes of their fathers shall they consume. ⁴⁰ And they shall confesse theyr misdeades and the mysdeades of theyr fathers in theyr trespaces, which they haue trespaced agaynst me, & for that also that they haue walked contrary to me. ⁴¹ Therfore I also wyl walke contrarye vnto them, and wyl brynge theym into the lande of theyr enemies. And then at the least waye theyr vncircumcised hertes shalbe tamed, & then they shall make an atonement for theyr mysdeades. ⁴² And I wyl remembre my bond with Iacob, and my testament wyth Isaac, and my testament wyth Abraham, and wyll thynke on the lande. ⁴³ For the Lande shall be lefte of them and shall haue pleasure in hyr Sabbothes, whyle she lyeth wast wythout them, & they shall make on atonement for theyr misdeades, bicause they despised my lawes and theyr soules refused mine ordinaunces. ⁴⁴ And yet for all that when they be in the Lande of their enemy, I wyll not so cast them away nor my soule shal not so abhorre them, that I wyll vtterlye destroye theym and breake myne appoyntment with them: for I am the Lord theyr God. ⁴⁵ I wyl therfore remembre vnto them the fyrst couenaunte made, when I brought them out of the Lande of Egypte in the syght of the Heathen to be their God: for I am the Lorde. ⁴⁶ These are the ordinaunces, iudgmentes, & lawes whych the Lord made betwene hym and the chyldren of Israell in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

¹⁵ But and yf thou wilt not herken vnto the voice of the Lord thy God to kepe and to do al his commaundementes and ordinaunces which I commaunde the thys day: then all these curses shall come vpon the & ouertake the: ¹⁶ Cursed shalt thou be in the towne, & cursed in the felde, ¹⁷ cursed shall thyne aulmery be & thy store. ¹⁸ Cursed shal the frute of thy body & the frute of thy lande be & the frute of thyne oxen & the flockes of thy shepe. ¹⁹ And cursed shalt thou be when thou goest in, & when thou goest out. ²⁰ And the Lorde shall sende vpon the cursynge, goyinge to nought & complanynge in all that thou settest thyne hande to whatsoeuer thou doest: vntyl thou be destroyed & brought to nought quyckely, because of the wickednesse of thyne inuencions in that thou hast forsaken the Lorde. ²¹ And the Lorde shall make the pestilence cleaue vnto the, vntyll he haue consumed the from the land whether thou goest to enioye it. ²² And the Lord shall smyte the with swellynge, with feuers, heet, bunrynge, wetherynge, with smytynge and blastynge. And they shall folowe the vntyll thou peryshe. ²³ And the heauen that is ouer thy head shalbe brasse, & the erthe that is vnder the, yeron. ²⁴ And the Lorde shall turne the rayne of the land vnto powder & dust: euen from heauen they shall come doune vpon the, vntyll thou be brought to nought. ²⁵ And the Lorde shall plage the before thyne enmyes: Thou shalt come out one waye agaynste them, and flee seuen wayes before them, & shalt be scatered amonge al the kingdomes of the erth. ²⁶ And thy carkesse shalbe meate vnto all maner foules of the apre and vnto the beastes of the erth, and no man shall fraye them awaye. ²⁷ And the Lorde wyll smyte the wyth the botches of Egypt and the emoroydes, scalle & maungynesse, that thou shalt not be healed therof. ²⁸ And the Lorde shall smyte the wyth madnesse, blyndnesse & dasyng of herte. ²⁹ And thou shalt grope at none dayes as the blynd gropeth in darknesse, and shalt not come to the ryght waye. And thou shalt suffer wronge only & be polled euermore, and no man shall sucker the, ³⁰ thou shalt be betrawthed vnto a wyfe, and another shal lye with her. Thou shalt buylde and house & another shal dwell therin. Thou shalt plante a vyneard, & shalt not make it comen. ³¹ Thyne oxe shalbe slayne before thyne eyes, and thou shalt not eate therof. Thyne asse shalbe vyolentlye taken awaye euen bofore thy face, and shall not be restored the agayne. Thy shepe shalbe geuen vnto thyne enemyes, and no man shall helpe the. ³² Thy sonnes and thy daughters shall be geuen vnto another nacion, and thyne eyes shall se and dase vpon them all daye longe, but shalt haue no myght in thyne hande. ³³ The frute of thy lande and all thy laboures shall a nacion which thou knowest not, eate, and thou shalt but suffre vyolence only & be oppressed alwaye: ³⁴ that thou shalt be cleane besyde thy selfe for the syghte of thyne eyes which thou shalt se. ³⁵ The Lord shal smyte the wyth a myscheuous botche in the knees and legges, so that thou canst not be healed: euen from the sole of the fote vnto the toppe of the head. ³⁶ The Lord shall brynge both the and thy kynge whych thou hast sett ouer the, vnto a nacyon whych nether thou nor thy fathers haue knowne, and there thou shalt serue straunge Goddes: euen wod & stone, ³⁷ And thou shalt go to waste & be made an ensample, & a iestynge stocke vnto all nacyons whether the Lord shall carye the. ³⁸ Thou shalt carie moch seed out in the felde & shalt gather but lytle in: for the greshopers shall destroye it. ³⁹ Thou shalt plante a veynearde & dresse it, but shalt nether drynke of the wyne neither gather of the grapes, for the wormes shall eate it. ⁴⁰ Thou shalt haue olyuetrees in al thy coastes, but shalt not be anoynted with the oyle, for thyne olyue trees shalbe roted out. ⁴¹ Thou shalt get sonnes and daughters, but shalt not haue them: for they shalbe caryed awaye captiue. ⁴² All thy trees and frute of thy lande shalbe marred with blastynge. ⁴³ The straungers that are a monge you shall clyme aboue the vp on hye, and thou shalt come doune beneth alowe. ⁴⁴ He shal lende the & thou shalt not lende him, he shalbe before and thou behynde. ⁴⁵ Moreouer all these curses shall come vpon the & shall folowe the and ouertake the, tyll thou be destroyed: because thou herkenedest not vnto the voyce of the Lorde thy God, to kepe his commandementes and ordynaunces whych he commaunded the, ⁴⁶ and they shalbe vpon the as miracles and wonders & vpon thy seed for euer. ⁴⁷ And because thou seruedest not the Lord thy God wyth ioyfulnesse and with a good herte for the abundaunce of all thinges, ⁴⁸ therfore thou shalt serue thyne enemye which the Lord shall sende vpon the: in hunger and thrust, in nakednesse and in nede of all thynge: & he shall put a yocke of yeron vpon thyne necke, vntyll he haue broughte the to nought. ⁴⁹ And the Lord shal brynge a nacyon vpon the from a farre, euen from the ende of the world, as swyfte as an egle flyeth: a nacyon whose tonge thou shalt not vnderstande: ⁵⁰ a harde fauoured nacyon whiche shall not regarde the person of the olde nor haue compassion on the yonge. ⁵¹ And he shall eate the frute of thy lande and the frute of thy catell vntill he haue destroyed the: so that he shall leaue the nether corne, wyne, nor oyle, nether the encrease of thyne oxen nor the flockes of thy shepe: vntyll he haue brought the to nought. ⁵² And he shall kepe the in, in all thy cities, vntyll the hye & stronge walles be come doune wherin thou trustedest, thorow al the lande. Moreouer he wyll brynge vpon the al the diseases of Egypt which thou wast afrayed of, and they shall cleaue vnto the. ⁶¹ Therto al maner sickenesses and all maner plages which are not wrytten in the boke of this lawe, wyll the Lord brynge vpon the vntyll thou be come to noughte. ⁶² And ye shalbe lefte fewe in nombre, where before ye were as the starres of heauen in multitude: because thou woldest not herken vnto the voyce of the Lord thy God.

⁸ Therfore the Lorde was angrye wyth Israel, and deliuered them into the handes of Chusan Rasathaim Kynge of Mesopotamia. So that the chyldren of Israel serued Chusan Rasathaim .viij. yeares.

⁶ And the chyldren of Israel wrought wyckednesse yet agayne, in the syght of the Lorde & serued Baalim & Astharoth, & the Goddes of Syria, & the Goddes of Sidon, the Goddes of Moab, the Goddes of the chyldren of Ammon, & the Goddes of the Philystines, & forsoke the Lord & serued him not. ⁷ And the Lord was wroth wyth Israell, & solde them into the handes of the Philistines, and into the handes of the chyldren of Ammon:

¹ And the chyldren of Israell began again to committe wickednesse in the syght of the Lorde. And the Lorde delyuered them into the handes of the Phylistynes fourtye yere.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God & despised theyr wordes & mysse vsed his prophetes, vntyll the wrath of the Lord so arose agaynst hys people that it was past remeadie. ¹⁷ And so he brought vpon them the kyng of Caldeye & slue theyr young men with the swerde in theyr holy temple, & nether spared younge man nor mayden, nether olde man, nether so moche as hym that stowped for age: But gaue all into his hande.

²² For these be the dayes of vengeaunce, to fulfil all that are written. ²³ But wo be to them that be with chylde, and to them that geue sucke in those dayes: for ther shalbe great trouble in the lande, and wrath ouer all this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall on the edge of the swearde, and shalbe lead captyue into all nacyons. ²⁵ If after thou haste gotten chyldren and chyldrens chyldren & hast dwelt long in the lande, ye shall marre your selues and make grauen ymages after the likenes of whatsoeuer it be, and shall worke wyckednes in the syght of the Lord thy God, to prouoke him. ²⁶ I cal heauen and earth to recorde vnto you thys day, that ye shal shortely perishe from of the lande whither ye go ouer Iordan to possesse it: ye shal not prolong your daies therin but shal shortly be destroyed.

²⁰ For throughe the wrath of the Lorde it so chaunsed to Ierusalem and Iuda, vntyl he had cast them out of hys syghte. And the sayde Zedekiah rebelled agaynst the king of Babylon.
